Summoner Spells Back to Top

In general you want to run 6.png and 12.png, mainly because 6.png prevents kiting quite effectively - And being kited is Nasus main weakness apart from laning phase. Also you will buy 1323.png most games, which will put ghost on barely 130 seconds cooldown and you will end up having 6.png up every single Teamfight.

4.png is the alternative. This is overall weaker, but can prevent several deaths during laning phase - and those can cost you the game. So in hard matchups you will sometimes have to go flash.

4.png  6.png Can also be run as a combination, but to be honest - Don't. This is a thing usually only utility champions will run, and since you will splitpush for a major part of most games you will want to have12.png

Masteries Back to Top

You can argue about masteries, but experience taught me that this is the best for S6. The first 6 points in Cunning will not influence your game too much, but "Merciless" will help your dueling and overall fighting potential a lot. Dangerous Game is not too useful and not too important either, but it enables you to pick Intelligence, which is very strong - 20% CDR and game start and 45% max CDR is a huge advantage and really helps your scaling.

Stormraider's Surge is another very good mastery, because it - again - prevents kiting and helps you stick to your target. Especially in later stages of the game, a single siphoningstrikenew.png can proc the mastery and will help you a lot.
Thunderlord's Decree is the weaker alternative, it is somehow useable on , but in general will be a lot less useful than Stormraider's Surge

The few points in Resolve are more useful than they might seem, especially Runic Armor, which will simply increase  strength by 8%, which is more than you may think.
Insight helps by putting 12.png and 6.png on a way shorter cooldown, since you will want to use those as frequently as possible, especially

Since siphoningstrikenew.png is your key ability, you will want to max this first. Maxing siphoningstrikenew.png does not only increase its damage by a significant amount, but also greatly reduces its cooldown, and in case you haven't realized it yet, Nasus is all about that sweet sweet CDR.

As an alternative, you could max your wither.png first. I would never recommend this, it is only an option when you are matched against either 157.png,23.png or24.png and are already losing heavily. Spending multiple points on your wither.png can prevent further deaths in lane - and those may very well cost you the game.

As second ability, you should always max spiritfire.png. Its magic damage is barely worth mentioning, but it provides a decent amount of armor penetration, which is an important thing on 75.png and is hard to acquire with items (Since you want to maintain a rather tanky build path).

Situational Items

Starting items

Your starting items are essential to your early laning phase - you will want to stay in lane until you can afford at least one smaller CDR item, such as 3024.png 3067.png or sometimes even 3114.png.

The 2033.png start is most common, the earlier you acquire this potion, the more it will pay off. It lets you stay in lane for a very long time and is a really good addition to your damage if you are forced to trade.

1029.png should be chosen if you think you can or plan on staying in lane for a very long time, 4 2003.png is a lot of extra HP and provides you with even more sustain than 2033.png.

1004.png can be chosen if none of the other options appear attractive. 5 2003.png is the maximum of early sustain you can get, and buying 3114.png is actually a decent option on 75.png. It is super cheap and provides Mana Reg AND Cooldown Reduction - both of them work amazingly well with 75.png. It can also be sold later in the game leaving you with barely 150 gold lost by buying and selling it.

Core

Your core items are 3078.png3065.png and 3110.png. Trinity is a very strong item on 75.png since almost all stats it grants benefit you. Especially the 3057.png passive and3044.png are amazing - It increases your damage and also prevents kiting, 3044.png and Stormraiders Surge allow you to stick to your target, especially when combined with 6.png.

3065.png grants you vital tanky stats and CDR. Especially its passive helps your sustain in lane and in teamfights, since it increases the lifesteal from your passive and your overall very high health regen.

In most lanes you should be rushing 3110.png. It is unbeleivable cheap, all stats benefit you and most of all - it provides 20% CDR! In combination with runes and masteries, you should already be at 40% with 3110.png, which can be completed at 15 minutes and soemtimes even before - Sweet sweet stacks baby ;)

1323.png is vital to you - these make it harder for enemys to kite you, and the blue enchantment works amazing with 12.png and 6.png, since this will put tp on a 200 seconds and ghost on ~ 150 seconds cooldown.

3053.png is an amazing item! It grants you major tankyness, even the passive shield should be over 1000 health later in the game. The increased base AD will work very well with 3078.png, its 200% passive will then grow up to 250%

Situational

In very specific situations, you can consider buying 3142.png or 3512.png, sometimes even both. This is only an option if you splitpush a lot! Youmus grants a great amount of armor penetration and a decent passive, and 3512.png gives high amounts of both armor and magic resist. Also its active is great for splitpushing.
You shouldr only consider buying any of these if you already have at least two other tanky items, such as 3065.png or 3110.png, since they will be useless if you can just be bursted down.

In some cases 3025.png can be chosen over 3078.png. It provides very useful stats and also 20% CDR! It makes it harder to reach your target without 3078.png passive movement speed and 3044.png passive, but is a LOT cheaper. But honestly - Only buy this if you are getting stomped or are facing an exclusively AD team.

3075.png is a good choice versus autoattack-heavy champions such as 67.png18.png222.png or 429.png, since it will deal significant damage to them and also make it a lot harder for them to kill you - especially 67.png can give you a hard time without this.

3102.png can be added to 3065.png, but should NEVER replace it - the CDR and passive of 3065.png are just too useful. Buy this against teams with multiple AP-heavy champions.

Similar to 3025.png3047.png should only be bought against full AD teams. 3111.png are a way better option - the tenacity is great, since you are very vulnearble to kiting, and most of the time its magic resist will also help you more than 3047.png armor.

3009.png should not be bought unless you are up against a team with almost exclusively soft CC. These are very useful if you just have to run up to your target, but compared to3111.png they are really bad against teams involving champions such as89.png412.png or other CC-heavy supports or even midlaners.

As final item you should purchase either 3083.png or 3022.png, since your build includes all tanky stats, but only very little HP. The highest resistances will be useless without any HP. With these items and your godofdeath.png you should find yourself with 200+ resistances and roughly 4000 HP in fights, which should make you the most scary frontliner or splitpusher in the game, since you also have insane damage.

VS

Aatrox

Easy

This is a rather easy matchup - Aatrox may sometimes spam his aatroxE.png to bully you, and you may even consider buying 3211.png in lane to prevent this poke damage. Before 10 minutes you should not fight him without your jungler and play very pasively, after buying 3024.png and/or 3082.png you can easily fight him though.

VS

Cho'Gath

Medium

This matchup's difficulty varys a lot depending on the 31.png you play against. Often he will max his feralscream.png and simply prevent a lot of your siphoningstrikenew.png lasthits by silencing you for 2 or more seconds. In general you should be able to deal with him - Respect his full combo including his feast.png and just farm as much as you can! His vorpalspikes.png will basically keep the lane at your tower most of the time, so lay back and scale.

Buying 3211.png is vital to your sustain.

VS

Darius

Hard

This is probably the worst possible matchup!

You should always chose 4.png over 6.png, simply because 6.png won't help you in lane anyway whilst 4.png can prevent a lot of deaths in lane. Play as passively as you can, don't fear losing entire waves and falling 30 cs or more behind, if you respect his damage and don't die to him you will be able to fight him eventually, even in late laning phase.

VS

Diana

Easy

This is a very rare matchup, but since it happened to me several times, I decided to include it.

131.png can bully you early and maybe even get an early kill on you, but you can start trading back surprisingly fast. If you find yourself doing well in trades, feel free to buy 3057.png early on - its CDR and passive will let you win pretty much all trades and you can kill her in lane.
If she ends up killing you often enough to stomp you regardless of your resistances, consider buying double 1033.png, once for 3211.png and once for 3111.png.

3211.png also helps a lot here.

VS

Dr. Mundo

Medium

This is a very relaxed matchup, 36.png can bully you with his infectedcleavermissilecast.png every 4 seconds and his new masochism.png autoattack reset. If you play it defensively, especially early on he won't be able to kill you without his jungler and you won't be able to kill him because of his sadism.png.

Lay back and farm! 3211.png works amazingly well against him, you may even find your self outsustaining 36.png sometimes!

VS

Fiora

Medium

Versus 114.png, the early laning phase is most important. Similar to 92.png, all you have to do is respect her for at least 10 minutes!

Don't walk up to minions unless you can lasthit it without her proccing her passive or hitting you several times.
Try to let her shove the lane and buy 3110.png first.

VS

Fizz

Hard

This can be a tricky one!

Regardless of your wither.png he can often kill you, or escape if your in a good position - fizzpiercingstrike.png and fizzjump.png grant him a great deal of mobility. Especially if he is playing bruiser/AD this is a hard one, since there will be no real option of itemizing against him.

His main damage will always be magic, so definitly buy 3211.png.

Don't be afraid of losing entire waves and recall if you feel he could be diving you!

VS

Gangplank

Easy
41.png is an easy matchup.
Like any other laner you should respect him early and simply not trade with him. Accept this lane as a free-farm lane for both of you, after 10 or 15 minutes you will be able to kill him or force him to recall, but not able to deny him farm.

For obvious reasons, buy 3110.png first.

VS

Garen

Hard

This one can vary between medium and hard, depending on 86.png. If he focusses more on farming than bullying you, you might be able to acquire a decent amount of stacks, even early on.

After a while, try trading back and see how much damage you can do to him - eventually you can kill him or force him to retreat.

Always keep in mind that garenslash3.png can silence you !!! He can garenjustice.png you for ~300-400 damage before you can react by using your godofdeath.png.

VS

Gnar

Hard

Not a pretty match, even though it is not too complicated.

He can simply bully you while being Mini-Gnar - dealing both magical and physical damage.
If you end up dying in lane, this may be one of the champs that you are never able to fight in the entire game.
Wait for him to make a mistake and play very passively whilst trying to stack your siphoningstrikenew.png.

Even though he deals mainly physical damage, think about buying 3211.png - a part of his damage is magic damage and 3211.png passive gives you more health regen than you might think - especially if he constantly hits you.

VS

Hecarim

Medium

This is Ok for your lane, but probably sucks for your team.

After you complete 3024.png and/or 3082.png he wont have a chance of killing you - but even with the removal of 1324.png in patch 5.23 he can roam a lot and give the rest of your team a hard time.

If he leaves for too long, start destroying his tower as fast as you can - since Preseason those give a lot of gold, both to your team and you and go down really fast.

VS

Irelia

Medium

Even though some people consider75.png a counter to  39.png, she can give you a hard time.

Since the new 3124.png introduced you can barely itemize against her, and her combination of true, magic AND physical damage is more than you can handle. You can be fine if she runs 12.png, but especially with 14.png respect her full combo and don't ever fight her with 10 stacks of Fervor and/or a fully stacked 3124.png.

Even though 3110.png barely helps against her true and magic damage, it is still the best choice - Its passive slows her attack speed and at least that should help you a bit.

VS

Jarvan IV

Easy

Some people might say this is a tough one but in reality, it isn't.

Jarvan may make it hard for you early, just avoid taking damage from him, don't lasthit if you get hit for it with more than a jarvanivdragonstrike.png
Rush 3024.png and 3110.png. Especially if he decides to build a damage item first, you can start fighting him quite early.

VS

Jax

Medium

Just in case he isn't banned - Here's what you should do.

Respect. Him. Don't ever go into extended trades, and avoid his jaxcounterstrike.png at any cost. He may often find himself pushing the lane, especially because of his jaxrelentlessassault.png passive. After acquiring several siphoningstrikenew.png stacks, start hitting him with siphoningstrikenew.png when he goes for lasthits.
Sometimes he loses enough HP to be zoned from your minions and you can prevent him from stacking his Fervor mastery or 3124.png - and that is when you can fight him.

3110.png and sometimes even an early 3057.png make this lane a lot easier.

VS

Jayce

Medium

Just in case anyone still plays this guy, don't get hit too much early.

Stack safely and don't lasthit if you will get hit for it more than once or twice.

Always rush 3110.png, eventually you can start fighting him! 6.png will always overpower a defensive usage of his jayceE.png

VS

Lulu

Hard

God, I hate her.

This is as ugly as your lane can get - Rush 3065.png, consider buying double 1033.png early on and towerhug. Most of the time you will be able to stack more or less safely under your tower, but you should probably ask for your junglers help and towerhug.

You will NEVER be able to catch up to her, luluw.png and luluq.png are just too much CC especially since luluq.png  will be on less than 6 seconds cooldown after she completes 3165.png

VS

Malphite

Easy

Free stacks baby =)

Just accept this as a lane of free farming! You will most likely never be able to kill him, but the same thing goes for him killing you.
After completing 3211.png, you can pretty much do what you want, keep stacking and scale into Mid/Late game.

VS

Nidalee

Medium

Should be more or less easy, but 76.png can be dangerous early on, and is as slippery as it gets, so chances are, you will never kill her.

Remain passive for the first 10 minutes, buy 3211.png and stack it.

If she ever starts going melee range after you complete your 3211.png, trade back and try killing her.

VS

Olaf

Hard

Not fun at all.

His olafaxethrowcast.png has ridiculously high damage, early on and later in the game. Also his olafrecklessstrike.png deals true damage so not even 3110.png can help you against that.
Rush 3110.png anyways and remain passive, he can probably kill you at any given point if you drop too low, so don't be afraid to recall and use 12.png to get back to lane.

VS

Renekton

Hard

Definition of a lanebully - But you can handle him.

Go ahead, lose CS early on and avoid him as much as you can, eventually you will overpower him, especially after completing 3110.png.

Also, godofdeath.png deals % HP damage whilst renektonreignofthetyrant.png only deals a flat amount - you will always outscale 58.png

VS

Rengar

Medium

Same as 92.png, don't even try to fight him early!

He can zone pretty efficiently, since his rengarpassive.png allows him to pop out of a bush at any given time.
After completing 3110.png or both parts of it, you should be fine and even able to kill him.

VS

Riven

Medium

A lot of people overestimate 92.png strength against 75.png.

This is one of the champs you simply have to avoid until 10 minutes - After completing both 3024.png and 3082.png you should be able to take her on.

Just don't EVER let her get a kill on you early - if that happens, towerhug and avoid her until at least 15 minutes or your 3110.png is completed.

VS

Rumble

Medium

He will be a hard enemy early on, but after completing 3211.png you have enough sustain to stack it.

It will take you a looong time before you can face him and score a kill, especially since his rumblegrenade.png slows for a ridiculously high amount.

VS

Ryze

Medium
13.png can be a lane bully for 10 minutes or more, but after completing 3211.png or even  3065.png
you should be fine. You have enough built-in sustain to farm safely, and you may even be able to catch up to him despite his runeprison.png by using your 6.png or proccing your Stormraider's Surge mastery, eventually killing him.

VS

Shen

Medium
98.png is harder than it may seem at first!
His shenvorpalstar.png and shenpassive.png allow him to bully you early on, and since he will always pursue a tanky build path, you might never be able to fight him - especially if he rushes 3068.png.

VS

Teemo

Medium

Noone should be playing 17.png against you, but apparently lolcounter or other sites have enough influence to make some people pick this guy.

He's very similar to 117.png in certain aspects, especially when it comes to early bullying.
Watch out for him if he runs 14.png, avoid dying to him.
After a while you should be able to farm safely, he lacks the utility and annoying CC 117.png has.
Don't try to fight him without your junglers help - Unless he makes major mistakes.

VS

Tryndamere

Easy

This is another free farm matchup!

He may be able to trade and bully you, but only very limited and very early. Warlords Bloodlust grants him significant combat stats and sustain, but after completing 3024.png and 3082.png or 3057.png, you can fight him or at least farm.

VS

Vayne

Medium

This happens very rarely, but in case it does - it can be dealt with.

Since 67.png will pretty much always zone you away early on, she will end up shoving the lane.
Ask your jungler for help, and she is almost always dead if he comes - wither.png gives her no escape and she does not have enough defensive mobility to escape 2 people.

After completing 3110.png - which may take a long time though- you should be able to stack.

If your jungler doesn't come, buy this regardless and try to farm. Not ganking Vayne toplane is a huge missed opportunity, but there is nothing you can do if he does not want to.

VS

Vladimir

Medium
8.png is one of those champions that can bully 75.png early.
You should most of the time rush double 1033.png versus him and simply farm, unlike 68.png he classicaly won't buy early magic pen such as 3020.png, mostly he will complete 3152.png first.

VS

Yasuo

Hard

This isn't nice for you at all.

His yasuoQ.png has enough range to poke you even under your tower, and Warlords Bloodlust gives him free sustain.
Always rush 3110.png and stay defensive until you complete it. You can try fighting him then, but do not rely on it.

VS

Yorick

Hard

If anyone ever plays this against you, your done for.

This is worse than anything else, he can permanently bully you and sustain himself endlessly.
Try buying 3065.png, towerhug and beg your jungler to finally help you.
If you see this in champselect... Just dodge, there is no way you can recover from the lane he will put you through.
