Flash or Ghost depending on your play style. In most cases $ is better than $ for both disengage and engage.

Masteries Back to Top

The way I see it, there are 3 mastery sets for Nasus that are all great, but geared toward different play styles.

The 12/0/18 build: This is the build I use mainly and the build shown.
The 0/12/18 build: Very Circumstantial and Unreliable, but better under the right conditions.
The 12/18/0 build: The 45% CDR build, a lot of potential damage, but less sustain and utility.

FEROCITY TREE:

Sorcery
I use this mainly because Nasus's undefined.png (main sorce of damage) its affected by it and as the alternative, Fury, isn't strong on Nasus, as he doesn't do much auto damage unless you build AD.

Double Edged Sword-
This one I put some thought into, but in the end I didn't find that the other 2 options made a noticeable difference. So I typically go with the extra damage, and since I build Tank anyway, the increased damage won't hurt too badly.

Vampirism-
The alternative (Natural Talent) is good for late game, but the flat life steal is great for early game sustain in lane.

Oppressor-
I mainly choose this path because of this mastery, oppressor is great for trading with opponents that are oppressed by undefined.png. Bounty Hunter doesn't really come close on this one as it is unreliable.

CUNNING TREE:

Savagery-
Better for last hitting minions early game. You are always going to be in combat while laning, so Wanderer isn't useful unless you plan to roam a lot. (Not recommended with Nasus)

Assassin-
Best mastery choice for a solo laner typically.

Merciless-
Beat your opponent to death option because Meditate isn't too great when your main damage costs 20 mana all game.

Danderous Game-
You aren't a support. If you are then use bandit and max wither. RIP

Intelligence-
This is what gives you the 45% CDR Nasus that can drop a undefined.png bomb every 2.2 seconds at max rank.

Storm Raiders Surge-
When ever you drop someone 30% within 2.5 seconds, you become a run away train. 40% movespeed and 75% slow resist for the next 3 seconds. It can proc very easily on squishy-ish champions with a single undefined.png if stacked enough.

RESOLVE TREE:

Unyielding-
With all the tank stats you build on Nasus, this is far more worth it than Recovery.

Tough skin-
Always better for a laner to take this rather than Explorer.

Runic Armor-
With Nasus's passive undefined.png it is far better to increase the life steal, than it is to have that 50 health at the beginning.

Insight-
With Nasus, you need to be in lane as much as possible to bring forth the inevitable doom as early as you can. More time in lane= More stacks. I always bring 12.png and either 4.png or 6.png is far better with that 15% decreased cooldown.

Swiftness-
As Nasus you are going to find a lot of your opponents CC as punishment for picking him. Limit the pain and bring swiftness and you will find it makes life a little easier.

Grasp of the Undying-
It is a must when going 18 resolve. It makes trading better for you and it makes your sustain in lane so much better. You are basically always in combat in lane, so try to use it to your advantage and proc grasp every 4 seconds.

When you are deciding between 12/0/18 and 0/12/18 Consider this:
(Resolve tree remains the same)
Ferocity/Resolve 12/0/18 Build:
Pros:
  1. Sorcery directly increases Q, E, and R damage.
  2. You deal 3% increased damage CONSTANTLY
  3. Extra 2% Lifesteal on top of your passive
  4. Extra 2.5% Damage whenever you have withered an enemy, or they are CC'd
Cons:
  1. You take 1.5% more damage from all sources CONSTANTLY
Cunning/Resolve 0/12/18 Build:
Pros:
  1. You deal 5 additional damage to minions with your Q and autos
  2. Deal 2% extra damage when there are no allies around
  3. You deal 5% extra damage when Champions are below 40% health
  4. Upon champion kills/assists you restore 5% Health and Mana.
Cons:
  1. The +5 damage is only to minions and monsters, and only relevant early game.
  2. The assassin's 2% damage goes away when around ANY allies (ganks/teamfights)
  3. You only deal 5% increased damage when your target is below 40% health
  4. The 5% life back from Dangerous Game is AFTER you have killed a target. It doesn't amount to a lot either.
The Ferocity/Resolve Mastery Tree is CONSISTENTLY BETTER.
The Cunning/Resolve Mastery Tree is MORE CIRCUMSTANTIAL but MORE REWARDING

I use the Ferocity/Resolve myself, but I thought I'd let you decide for yourselves.

I think the Abilities rank ups explain themselves. You max undefined.png first for farming and trading purposes, then you max undefined.png for the constant slows and trading all around (at 40% CDR it is a 5 sec slow that increases to 90% over the 5 seconds, and it is on a 6-7 second cooldown. BROKEN), then you max undefined.png for the AoE and decreased resistances. Of course max undefined.pngwhenever possible.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

    Against AD top
    Against AP top

Core Items

1st item against AD toplaner: Glacial shroud first
1st item build order against AP toplaner: Cowl first if taking a lot of damage.
Go boots 2nd item. Swiftness for teams with a lot of slows. Merc treads for teams with Hard CC.
a sheen is the best item on nasus. always build this before you finish your first item or right after
3rd item: Build the sheen into a triforce if you are building frozen heart as well. If you prefer the iceborn split push build then don't use Triforce. Pick one of these 2
build which ever you haven't built yet
core build (merc treads or swiftys)
Core "Split push nasus" build: (Swiftys or merc treads) ZZ rot optional, but i like it for the split build.

Situational Items

great items on Nasus: Each explained at the bottom of items
3065.png -Increases all healing (lifesteal) by 20%, 10% CDR, and lots of health and MR. Great Item on Nasus. Definately a must build.

3110.png- 20% CDR, 90 Armor, 400 mana. Great item to get first when you need the CDR, and when an AD toplaner has been getting the best of you. This item will make you tryndamere proof, xin proof, and other toplane Atk Spd bullies. Plus the extra mana will increase the time you can stay in lane before having to back.

3057.png- This item marks a point in the game where trading can work out well for you. The passive on the sheen increases Q damage by 100% of your base attack damage. BUILD THIS before you finish your first item preferably, but you need this item ASAP. Build it into a 3078.png or a 3025.png depending on the build you choose.

3742.png- This item is a great 4th-6th item on Nasus. It gives him movespeed and tank stats, which is basically what you go for after your core build.

3056.png- Don't laugh at the Nasus with Ohmwrecker. I used to build this first or second item when I was stacking well. The turret dive potential with this item is immense. The split push is amazing because it gives 20% movespeed off of turrets and even DESTROYED TURRETS. It gives tank stats that nasus thrives on, and even 10% CDR. Noone ever called Nasus an immobile champion if this was part of the build.

3102.png- This item only really comes into play when they are very heavy AP. Like 2-3 AP carries will be when this item should make it as part of the build.
3143.png- This item should be for the game that bot just FEEDS and lets their ADC go off. Build this, wither the ADC, laugh at his crits, and smack until dead. If too fed, proceed to blame bot/jungle.
3083.png3026.png- These are the 6th item trolls. If you think you need to be tankier, need to stop dying so much, look no farther. These items will wrap up your build and make you a true raidboss.

  • Cho'Gath
    Easy
  • Darius
    Hard

VS

Cho'Gath

Easy

Cho is not a hard match up for Nasus. It will be a very passive lane, but you need to look to reset his stacks on feast.png or it will be extremely hard to kill him. Even if you have been stacking like a monster. Work with the jungler to kill him or you can just drop a siphoningstrikenew.png every now and then for harassment.

VS

Darius

Hard

Start 1029.png and 4x 2003.png. Darius is going to be a very technical lane. DO NOT let him land his dariuscleave.png on the blade end early. He will most likely try to harass you out of lane, and try to all in at level 6 if you are still squishy. First back you should get a 3024.png and work on getting 3057.png next. I wouldn't fight the Darius until you have sheen. When fighting him, get in close. Stand on top of him and hit wither.png, and do not get hit with the dariuscleave.png on the blade. If you do that you pose a good chance after you get your sheen.
