Summoner Spells Back to Top

Standard lane vs kill lane.

Probably 70% ignite, 30% exhaust since there's a lot of kill pressure on Nautilus.

::Variants::

  1. 0/18/12 for [Windspeaker's Blessing] and [Intelligence] — Greedy, but has a niche synergy with W and Relic Shield.
  1. 0/12/18 for [Grasp of the Undying] and [Legendary Guardian] — Experimental, would not recommend.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

    standard.
    For a lvl 2 cheese kill. although with thunderlords not present anymore on most adc's, this lane start is more so out of favor. Could see success with draven/corki.
    vs melee support or non trading lane. if you're able to get away with it, it allows for a VERY cost efficient laning phase.

Core Items

    Locket is more often than not, a core item due to the high value of it's shield active.
    in the event of facing a heavy AD comp, delay the locket buy for an interim armor buy.
    Essentially saves you 800g by bypassing kindlegem, this accelerates your build path to early mitigation.
    swifties are meta at the moment, but don't let it overshadow any needed mitigation.
    would only suggest if your overall comp is around a hyper carry. Kog/Vayne/Cait
    if you're ahead or even. cdr early is great.

Situational Items

    Still an okay item after 6.3, especially on engage champions. If you have to choose between this item or randuins, go randuins 100% of the time.
    Although buffed in 6.3, this is primarily a laning item and underwhelming outside of lane.
    heavily delays your own power spike. be very judgmental when deciding to buy this item.
    CDR is highly valued, although you trade health for it. into a heavy ad comp, build randuins and then this.
    meta, be mindful of the range indicator when hovering over the item.
    Again, very useful on engage champions, forces a spell loss before a disengage spell can be used.
    if you're winning lane really hard, like 3-0 <7mins. can also be a greedy 5th or 6th item buy.
    can be very successful with a kalista/lucian/vayne. same tradeoffs as frozen heart
    Great item, Gives more Armor/Hp than sunfire+deadman's. easiest build path NA and all the stats are relevant to your kit.
    unfortunately the healing passive is a wasted stat. I would consider getting ZZrot over this item unless hp/cdr is imperative.
    Good mid game item, stats fall off late but the passive keeps you and your carry relevant.
    must buy against a double ad comp, very strong when paired with randuins.

Tips/Notes Back to Top

::Champion Specific::

  1. Nautilus's E has a very brief cast time, so think twice when using it while chasing an enemy that is just outside of range.
  2. Chaining CC is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT, coordinate with team members to not burn cc's all at once during teamfights. If the target is snared and you decide to E, then the slow on your E is wasted because the target isn't moving anyways.
  3. Autoattack->W->Autoattack->Q->R usually stuns the target for about 2.5 seconds if done correctly, use this combo to burst unsuspecting enemies that are walking into your bush.
  4. Saving R for enemies that have channeled ultimates can really change the tide of battle.
  5. Be on the lookout for champions like 80_icon_64.png and 64.png jumping on your ADC during teamfights, peel them off when possible.
  6. Nautilus is an anti-carry peeler, be very weary of this as tunneling on the enemy can throw team fights.
  7. The key to Nautilus is his heavy CC kit, do not forget that as your role. Your job is to peel and to pin down high-priority targets as well as initiating teamfights fights that favors your team.

::Lane Specific::

  1. As a melee support, always try to push for level 2. Being on the receiving end just means you'll be perma poked, and all aggression is waned until probably level 3 or 4.
  2. Allow yourself to be greedy in lane with the 110hp+ shield you have, but don't let it kill you. You're most of the times able to get off a winning trade because of it, but keep in mind that your engage tool is also your escape tool.
  3. The purpose of upgrading Relic shield/Targons is to generate more gold in lane. In cases where laning phase ends before you're able to upgrade, then skip the upgrade until your 2nd or 3rd buy. Losing tower in lane means there will be a lot of skirmishes in the river and bottom jungle and having +100 hp for 500 gold is not worth.
