Summoner Spells Back to Top

New Runes Back to Top

Masteries Back to Top

12/0/18:

-Sorcery vs fury: I like sorcery better. Does not matter much.
-Feast: The strongest mastery from the three.
-Natural talent: You can use both the ap and the ad.
-Oppressor: With your kit the bonus damage is almost always up.
-Recovery: Better in lane than unyielding.
-Tough skin: better in lane.
-Runic armor: Useful because of W.
-Insight vs perseverance: Insight is the standard. The cdr on the summoner spells is op. Take perseverance when you just want to survive the lane (vs Pantheon for example).
-Swiftness vs legendary guardian: I prefer the tenacity. Take the other if they are really low on cc.
-Grasp of the undying: The standard keystonemastery.

Vs ranged matchups consider taking 0/18/12 with thunderlord's decree for better trading in lane.

Lvl 1: Start E if you want to push, start W for better trades. Take Q for invades.

Max E first. You need the waveclear for roaming. Also shorter cd then W.
Max W second. To be that annoying tank in the frontline.
Max Q third.

W vs E max first: W has a 18 sec cd on all levels. I would only max W if you're gonna be pushed in to your tower no matter what (maybe vs Renekton or Rumble).

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

Standard start, good sustain, good trades with passive.
If you are not confident vs a lane bully or vs ignite laners.
Would not recommend. The mana regen is good but for trading corrupting potion is much better.

Core Items

Must have. Your main damage item. Also good for waveclear so you can roam more.
IBG: If your team needs more damage. FH: Take this if they got 1-2 aa based champs besides their adc (like Trynd top or Yi jungle)
Spirit visage: Standard. You need this for the CDR. Abyssal: If you want more damage, your team has a lot of ap or if you have to splitpush vs an ap champ you can take this instead of SV. Banshee's Veil: Not good on tanks IMO (maybe vs teemo to neglect some of his shroom damage).
Get boots of swiftness only if they have a lot of slows and you want to roam a lot early. Otherwise merc (vs mor hard cc) and ninja tabi (vs more aa based champs) is superior.

Situational Items

Good item right now. Only take this if you are snowballing or if they have a team comp without hard engage and want to focus the front line first in a teamfight (vs Malzahar, fed hyper carry, etc.).
Vs multiple aa based champs a more offensive option.
Vs multiple aa or crit based champs a more defensive option. Also a good lategame item vs a crit based adc.
Armor item if they dont have aa based champs. Also for better engage and roaming.
You might get this with abyssal if you are really far ahead and want to one-shot.
IMO not a good item after the nerfs but you can get this for sidelane pressure or vs split pushers.

VS

Aatrox

Medium

Haven't  seen him a lot. He's got the advantage in this lane, but with some experience you can handle this matchup. Focus on farming and wait for jungle ganks. If you do get a gank try to save your Q for his Q. Be careful of his level 2 power spike and his tower dives with passive.

VS

Darius

Hard

This champ tilts me. He's got so much kill potential in lane. I usually ban him, so I can't really give you any advice. Avoid extended trades.

VS

Ekko

Easy

You are a stronger laner. He will want to proc his passive on you then run away. Q him when he do so and try to focus on extended trades.

VS

Fiora

Medium

Try to figure out her pattern of using riposte. She can block your passive and stun you with it. If she does that try to fake autos and cancel them to bait her riposte. Focus on poking with E a lot.

VS

Gangplank

Medium

Farm up a few levels then wait for him to misposition. If he do so, start the allin with an auto+W+E then Q him when he is running away. If he plays the lane perfectly you can't do much vs him. This case try to push with your E and with denying barrels.

VS

Garen

Medium

Pop your W before he silences you and stay inside your minionwave when he's using E to prevent the bonus damage. You can also hit him with passive/E then kite back and reengage with Q when his E is over.  Kind of an even lane before he gets BC after that he has an advantage.

VS

Gnar

Medium

Farm 'til 3 then Q and combo him every time he mispositions. You can consider to take 0/18/12 masteries here, but not necessary.

VS

Graves

Hard

Hate this guy. He can outpush you and outtrade you early. You can start doran's shield since the damage reduction applies to every part of his aa. After sunfire cape you can probably outtrade him. Both 0/18/12 and 12/0/18 masteries are good here.

VS

Hecarim

Easy

You are the stronger laner. Trade with him when your W is up.

VS

Heimerdinger

Medium

Use 0/18/12 masteries and Q him when he mispositions. Go for sheen first into abyssal or spirit visage. Only get sunfire cape later since you cant use neither the armor nor the passive vs him.

VS

Irelia

Medium

Focus on short trades with E and passive. Kite back when she uses W and try to reengage when it wears off. Her power spikes are: level 4, 7, 9 and after triforce. After 2 armor items you auto-win the lane.

VS

Jarvan IV

Medium

You are kind of even early. You can poke him with E and go for extended trades if he engages on you with E+Q. After 1st/2nd back you've got the advantage.

VS

Jax

Easy

You are the stronger laner. If he stacks his passive on minions be careful trading vs him. Otherwise poke with E, kite back if he uses his E then re-engage with Q. You should win the trades before his 1st/2nd item.

VS

Jayce

Medium

Haven't really played vs him (in progress).

VS

Kayle

Hard

0/18/12 masteries and early sheen+abyssal if you want to go aggro. Watch for opportunities when you can Q her (preferably at the end of her E). She has an advantage 1v1 so you need to abuse her mistakes and ask for ganks.

VS

Malphite

Easy

Poke with E + passive and try to not let him get back his shield. Punish him if he misses his E with an extended trade. Focus on pushing and roaming since he will be useful even if behind.

VS

Maokai

Medium

You can trade better, but he's got sustain. You are kind of even. Focus on pushing and roaming.

VS

Nasus

Medium

Start pushing the wave level 1 then freeze after the wave hit his tower. Try to keep the wave pushing towards you as long as you can. Pressure him when he goes to Q a minion (just go near the dying minion and fake that you want to trade with him), but DONT trade with him unless he is far enough from tower and you can make a really good trade with him. If your wave is started pushing (from a trade for example) then push it all the way to his turret and repeat the process. The key in this matchup is to deny him with good wave management and clever timed trades not with random trades after every cs. Post 6 try to bait his R then disengage with Q to be able to keep your kill pressure. After a few levels you cant really pressure him anymore no matter what. So stop the freeze, push and roam. In teamfights focus on peeling down Nasus from your team and he shouldn't be able to reach your backline.

VS

Pantheon

Medium

He can block your passive, so you can't really trade with him early just try to survive. Start with W to negate some of his Q poke. If needed recall early and tp back with an extra cloth armor. Respect his all in with ignite. Respect his ult engage and warn your team everytime he recalls to be careful of his ult. Post 6 with some items you can slowly start to take over the lane.

VS

Renekton

Medium

You can't really do much versus him. Use W when he goes for a trade and try to survive the laning phase.

VS

Riven

Medium

Check her stats pre-game. Its easy vs a bad or mediocore Riven. Try to abuse her E cooldown with short trades. If vs a good Riven then just try to survive the laning phase.

VS

Rumble

Hard

Go for spirit visage first (maybe bami's cinder after spectre's cowl). Focus on farming. Ask for ganks. You cant really 1v1 him if you are equally skilled.

VS

Teemo

Medium

0/18/12 mastery. Go for sheen+abyssal first if you want to be aggro. After level 3-4 Q him everytime he is out of position and you should win the trade. Try to avoid poke. Magic pen marks are better vs him than AS marks.

VS

Trundle

Medium

Pre 6 poke with E + passive and do longer trades when his W is on cd. Post 6 is much harder but if you have an advantage try to force him using his ultimate then disengage with Q. If he doesn't have his R you can try to keep pressuring him.

VS

Wukong

Easy

You are the stronger laner. Poke with E. If he used his W then Q him and go for a longer trade.

Laning phase Back to Top

General trading patterns:

  • Mana efficent/poking: In the early levels your W costs a lot of mana compared to E. Thus its a good habbit to spam your E's a lot before going in for an extended trade with W. Also try to go for an auto attack when your grasp of the undying is active.
  • Extended trades: 4 things to remember: 1. Use your corrupting potion 2. Your W is an auto attack reset, so its usually better to AA+W+AA instead of W+AA 3. In meele matchups you shouldn't initiate with your Q (unless you want to quickly punish an ability on cooldown). You should initiate with an AA aplying your passive and use your Q to catch up to them when they are trying to run away. 4. If the enemy bursts through your W shield then you also lose the passive damage on the ability. Sometimes its better to take a bit of damage before using W.
  • Short trades/bursty trades: Q (optional) + AA + W + AA + E then walk away (optional AA's)

Itemization:

To sum up:
  • 3751.png into 3068.png vs AD or tanks
  • 3211.png into 3111.png/3065.png/3751.png vs AP
  • After sunfire cape: 3110.png or 3025.png to finish your core items.
  • Note: After sunfire cape you can clear an entire wave with one E really fast, so in some cases its fine to skip the mana item (FH/IBG) for a more tankier item (like 3143.png or 3742.png) if you really need that extra tankiness in the next teamfight. You will be missing out 20% cdr though, so consider this carefully.

Other gameplay tips Back to Top

A) After 3751.png its usually more beneficial to fast push your lane and go roaming. Focus on roaming more when:
  • Your lane opponent is useful when behind (54.png,98.png,68.png)
  • You cant make an advantage in the 1v1 lane anymore (no kill pressure, etc.) (8.png,75.png)
  • Your teammates are behind
  • There is a snowbally mid lane matchup
  • You lost the lane so hard that you cant even farm safe under turret
Focus on your lane more when:
  • You can set your lane opponent even more behind who is gold/xp dependant (92.png,62.png, most bruisers)
  • Your team is winning the 4v4 by a large margin
  • They have ungankable lanes (25.png mid, etc.) and you can't tower dive or siege
B) Time your roamings well. When roaming you gonna lose some minions from your lane. To minimize this loss always try to push your lane before roaming and get back when the wave reaches your tower. Its even better when the upcoming wave is a cannon minion wave: 1. your opponent can't push that wave into your tower so fast 2. when the first meele minion dies the tower's gonna focus the cannon minion which can tank some additional tower shots. This can save you some extra seconds for your roaming.

C) If you can't roam take a jungle camp or place a deep ward into their jungle (if safe)

D) When receiving a gank try to initiate with your passive AA and save your Q/R for their flash

E) Dont always use your Q/R in the beginning of the teamfights. Its not always the best option. If you are not the initiator save one of them for escaping low hp enemies or for their diving assassin/bruiser

F) If your adc outdamages theirs focus more on peeling for him rather than diving their backline

G) When chasing someone you can walk back a short distance before throwing your Q for an additional pull distance. Sometimes useful. (Obviously if you are the only one chasing there is no point doing that.)

H) In a teamfight try to apply your passive to multiple targets instead of keep autoing one target.

I) Buy a pink ward after every back

J) After 5 items a pink ward worth more than a 1028.png for the 6th item slot
