Masteries Back to Top

My favorite thing about Nidalee, is how versatile she is with her masteries. Nearly every single option could be used in certain situations. This is my standard page, but make sure to look deeper into them because it really comes down to your play style.

For example; Some people like Runic Affinity rather than Secret Stash. (Buffs vs Cookies), although I prefer cookies for more sustain, since I can usually give away my blue and red in the mid-late game.

The only thing that I would have as a MUST, is Strength of the Ages. This mastery is amazing on Junglers, giving you extra HP to survive in those fights just a little bit longer, to do more damage!

Thunderlords is alright, but you do so much damage already, that it isn't really worth it. Having the extra sustain is much better.

I used to start with bushwhack.png although since the patch which made her traps not cc (as well as her spears) I find that taking spear first is more efficient. Early game jungle clearing is very easy as Nidalee, and with spear you can quickly take down the first few camps without a leash!
Spear does the most damage, while also having "Takedown" as an execute in cougar form!

If you would like to see a video on the early game clear without a leash, check out my video on it here:

One thing to remember, is you are SUPER strong at level 3, and I usually invade them at their buff. I will talk more about invading early and good paths later.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

    Standard Jungle start!

Core Items

Best for invading/fighting. (I almost always take this)
Best for people who are new to Nidalee, as slowing helps hit spears and early ganks.
Very good if you are wanting to play a more support role on your team.
Rod of Ages is SUPER good on Nidalee. This should almost always be your second item.
CDR boots are insane on Nidalee for the early game! I usually get T1 boots before my ROA is finished, and then finish the boots after my ROA.
Obviously Runic Echoes is the core Jungle item for Nidalee.

Situational Items

This is a great build vs AP heavy comps. Lots of tankieness, and a TON of damage.
This is very good against AD heavy comps. Dead Mans is super good on Nidalee, as you can speed through the map super quickly!
This is a pretty risky build. Mostly meant for strictly poking.
If you want to go tankier vs an AD heavy comp, these items are very good. You shouldn't ever choose more than 1 of these items. Each are amazing in different situations.
You can build both of these or just 1 in almost any game. Spirit Visage gives you INSANE healing, and Abyssal gives you a little takieness with a ton of extra damage.
Dead Mans Plate is the best tank armor item on Nidalee, as it gives so so much mobility around the map, with tons of HP and Armor!

The only items you should build every game is: Rod of Ages and Runic Echoes. Every other item is situational; Zhonya's is amazing, and you should consider getting it most games, but it is definitely not a necessary item.

The two "Tank" items that are best on Nidalee are: Spirit Visage and Dead Man's Plate. But you can always swap them for other tank items if it fits better in that situation.

I've fooled around with Banner of Command on Nidalee as well, and it's definitely not the greatest on her, it can be amazing if you are put into a more support(y) role for the team!

CDR Boots are by far the best on Nidalee. Why?
Swifties:Your passive movement speed when running through bushes helps you get around the map super fast! Along with your pounce.
Sorc Boots: You don't need the Mpen on Nidalee, as your base damage is high enough early to deal with it until you get more items.

As for the Jungle Item. You can choose any of the different handles, although Skirmishers is the best on her by far in most situations. There's no point in having vision from the Trackers Knife if you can't fight the enemies! While chilling smite is good for new Nidalee players, you will always do more damage with Skirmishers than you would with the slow + damage from smite on champions. But I would recommend it for new Nidalee players!

VS

Aatrox

Medium

Aatrox is more annoying than anything. As long and you can dodge his knockup, then you should be okay. His lifesteal is annoying, but your burst + Skirmishers should be alright against him. This matchup is really about outplaying eachother, if you play it better you will win, and vice versa.

VS

Amumu

Easy

Invade him early, you should win this matchup every time if you play/build correctly. Invading early is crucial.

VS

Ekko

Easy

Care on his ult, don't get stuck in his W, which is easy because you can pound away easily. You should be able to kill him very easily in a 1v1.

VS

Fiddlesticks

Easy

Bait out his W, should be simple from there!

VS

Gragas

Medium

He counters you, but you have a TON of outplay potential on him!

VS

Graves

Medium

This match up is Easy-Medium. You can kill him fairly easy early, just care on his burst!

VS

Jax

Medium

Eh, it can be difficult, although you can outplay him fairly easy too.

Try to invade him and take his buffs to delay his sated.

VS

Kindred

Medium

This match up is SUPER even. It's pretty much whoever catches the other person without cooldowns will win. So invading Kindred is super good in this match up.

VS

Master Yi

Medium

You can outplay him, try to bait out his meditate.png so you don't blow cooldowns and do no damage. If you do this, you should be able to fight him. Still a fairly difficult match up for new Nidalee players.

VS

Rek'Sai

Easy

Easy Peasy!

VS

Rengar

Easy

Pink ward, you're to tanky to be blown up, you can 1v1 him ALL DAY!

VS

Sejuani

Easy

Just dodge her sejuaniarcticassault.png headbutt and you should be alright! You outdamage her and if you build right, you won't take any damage either. DO NOT underestimate her though, as if she snowballs (lol) she will get too tanky for you to do anything.

VS

Shaco

Medium

Ward your buffs and try to invade him!

VS

Skarner

Medium

Try not to fight in his circles and you should be okay!

VS

Udyr

Hard

Udyr is so annoying. This match up is fairly difficult, although you can win it if you have rylai's so you can kite him. Play safe, and try to kill him early when he's not expecting it to get the edge up.

VS

Volibear

Medium

Try to kill him early in his jungle. Once he get's tanky there's not much you can do against him, so you're gonna have to have full control during the early game. Make sure to catch his off guard at his buffs and make his early game life miserable!

VS

Warwick

Medium

You can outplay him, although if you're not careful he will kill you after he has a couple items. I would recommend building Randuins or Frozen Heart in this match up.

VS

Xin Zhao

Hard

Early game he will kill you unless you catch him off guard. Mid game he is stronger than you. Late game he is stronger and takier.

You NEED to ward your jungle entrances and try to get your lanes fed. This is not an easy jungle match up to win.

VS

Zac

Easy

SUPER EASY. Invade and watch out for the bounce house!

Jungle Clear Back to Top

I play an incredibly aggressive Nidalee. Meaning my early clears are just: Rushing level 3, invading the enemy and either picking up a kill and their entire side of the Jungle, or just stealing their buff and dipping.

Below are the 2 clears I do for each side of the map. If you aren't comfortable on Nidalee, and don't know what walls you can jump over etc, I would recommend not doing this, although you'll only get better with practice!

BLUE SIDE CLEAR:
Nidalee BLUE SIDE Clear2.jpg

Tips: After clearing wolves, you will be level 3. Path through dragon pit into the enemies jungle. Because your clear speed is incredibly fast, you will generally be there while they're doing red (lots of cases before they get there).

If you catch them doing red: Wait until red buff is low enough to smite it. They won't expect it because you are hiding in the bush. Steal red, they won't get HP back, kill them and then steal their entire jungle. MAKE SURE TO BE AWARE OF MID LANE AND TOP LANE ROAMS. Go back to your jungle, do a full clear and then back. If there is an opportunity to gank during this time, go for it, otherwise FARM UP.

If you don't catch anyone at their red: Just take it. Don't get greedy waiting for a kill. Steal the red buff, ward in front of it, then take rocks and dip.

RED SIDE CLEAR:

Tips: Save your ward so you can ward the blue bush. Take blue if they aren't there, otherwise be patient and kill them then take their jungle!
