Summoner Spells Back to Top

Smite is a must for jungling. Smiting with consume almost always ends in your favor if you're contesting a buff or an objective.

Flash is an easy initiator or disengage from the enemy and is great for counter jungle pursuits.

I wouldn't recommend using any other spells while playing Nunu jungle.

New Runes Back to Top

So far this page has worked the best for me.  You become pretty tanky especially if ahead.

Maxing consume is my favorite build atm.  3 points in Q then maxing E is also viable

Now that W gives AP, I will occasionally put a couple points in it depending on our comp. Normally with a lux/zoe mid.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

Core Items

my favorite build(yes it has a mejai)**. build path is red smite into mejais. Then build normally until you have 10 stacks to upgrade. **This is for advanced nunu players
    Against heavy ap
    against heavy ad
    Jungle support/Engage build
This item is great for catching people out, initiating, and goes well with nunu's kit because of the additional health and mana it gives. build this if you have no engage champs on your team
I believe Randuin's Omen is a good item to build now because of the crit damage reduction. The new build path takes up way too many inventory spaces though
This is a great item on Nunu I've been using it in most games
normally build this first if the enemy team has a lot of AP. Almost always build Ninja Tabi with it.
once you get your trackers knife switch to a red trinket
Sub in red smite for more tankyness/damage. I rarely build but you can 1v1 carries easily with it
Good cheap item to protect your carry

Situational Items

I build these on occasion. but with the Movement speed from your Q they are kinda pointless. opt out for swiftness boots
Build this if they have an AP top. I rarely build this anymore
Dead Man's Plate is a great build item if you're trying to get around the map quickly usually my first armor item
Good waveclear item for nunu. Normally build this if I'm playing Nunu top

VS

Alistar

Hard

Ganking bot lane with an Alistar support is hard to do unless they're overextended as far as possible. Throw Ice Blast on whoever is closest to your allies and try to save Absolute Zero until after Alistar uses both of his crowd control abilities.

VS

Amumu

Medium

If your team gets caught by an Amumu you've set behind, he can still lead their team to victory with his aoe crowd control. I'd suggest split pushing if they're a heavy aoe team.

VS

Cho'Gath

Hard

Cho'Gath is hard to fight due to his silence and knockup. Try to avoid Cho and peel him off your carry in team fights.

VS

Elise

Medium

Be careful around Elise she can burst you down pretty fast especially with help

VS

Evelynn

Easy

Eve can W out of your ice blast to get away, other than that shes fairly weak against Nunu.

VS

Fiddlesticks

Hard

Silence and Fear both cancel Absolute Zero and hes strong in teamfights with a good ultimate. Try to get ahead early by counter jungling.

VS

Hecarim

Easy

Ice blast him off of your carry and you should be fine. Hecarim is also easy to counter jungle.

VS

Jarvan IV

Easy

Its pretty easy to counter jungle J4. He can knock you up out of your ultimate but thats about it. Peel him off of your carry.

VS

Kha'Zix

Easy

Hit Absolute Zero when he comes flying in. Counter jungle him early.  I've made Kha'Zix players quit just by taking both of their buffs on numerous occasions.

VS

Lee Sin

Medium

Lee Sin is only a threat if he gets successful ganks on your team early game.  If you're able to counter jungle him while he fails to gank you can set him very far behind.

VS

Maokai

Hard

It is hard to get away from Maokai if you get caught by him in the jungle.  He also has a strong team fight.

VS

Master Yi

Hard

If you're the only source of crowd control on your team to peel for the AD carry you're basically going to lose the game

VS

Nautilus

Easy

Counter jungle early and set him far behind.  If he doesn't have farm or ganks he's going to be weak.

VS

Nocturne

Medium

Nocturne can spell shield your Ice blast and is strong at a low level.  Peel him off of your carry with Absolute Zero.

VS

Pantheon

Easy

Counter Jungle early and if he doesn't have any success early you'll be fine. If he does, you need to communicate to your team about warding.

VS

Rek'Sai

Medium

Rek'Sai moves around the map very fast and can 1v1 a Nunu.  Focus on farming your own jungle and counter-ganking.

VS

Udyr

Medium

fairly easy to peel, try and deny as many jungle camps as you can from him

Standard Jungle routes Back to Top

 *  I use these routes against strong enemy junglers like kindred, graves, udyr, and nidalee

Blue Team

 Red -> Wraiths ->
look for potential ganks mid/bot ->
bot river crab -> wolves -> blue -> gromp ->
look for potential ganks top/mid ->
Top river crab

Red Team

 Blue -> Wolves -> Gromp
look for potential ganks mid/bot ->
bot river crab -> wraiths -> Red -> Golems ->
Look for potential ganks top/mid ->
Top river crab

Counter Jungle Routes Back to Top

Blue Team

Walk into enemy red side at around 1:30 -> steal red buff and place red ward in small bush by the raptor camp.

After taking their red you want to look for a level 2 gank mid lane(pathing through the path near the enemy raptors) or top lane(through the enemy tribush/river depending on how far they're pushed).

*When ganking either of the lanes don't expect a kill. Gank with the expectation of burning the enemies' flash - this provides a huge advantage for your laner(s) and future ganks.

If you decide to gank top lane, do a full clear on your top side of the map (crab, gromp, blue, and wolves) then proceed to the bottom side. The reason for doing this is because you're assuming the enemy jungler saw you with his red buff and reacted by stealing yours(there is no way youre making it from top side to your red before he steals yours).

If you decide to gank mid lane you have a couple options like walking straight to your red or doing a full clear.

Red Team

Walk into enemy blue side of map at around 1:30 -> steal enemy blue buff -> walk straight to your red -> then full clear bot side jungle -> take bottom crab

*during your full clear you want to look for potential counter ganks or overextended enemy laners

At about 5:30-6 minutes you want to decide which enemy buff you want to contest and ward all around it
(Always notify your team about what you're doing to let them know to follow up)
**this goes for whichever side of the map you're playing on**

True Nunu Route Back to Top

This is by far the most fun route and I've made people rage quit multiple times within 5 minutes.

Find out where the enemy jungler is starting and walk in at about 1:40. contest whatever camp they are starting.

Example:enemy jungler is starting blue buff
walk in and attempt to steal the buff. if successful- Walk straight to their red through the mid lane(dont worry about being seen by the enemy team, your goal is to keep the enemy jungler level 1 for as long as possible).
-Once both buffs are taken, proceed to counter jungle them OR clear your faster camps(WOLVES RED GROMP BLUE) then proceed to counter jungling them.

pros and cons Back to Top

Pros

Very easy champion to play and very fun to play when mastered
High jungle sustain
Very healthy tank
Great objective control with Consume+Smite
Doesn't need many items to help team

Cons

VERY little damage when maxing Consume aside from his ultimate
Doesn't win 1v1's against most enemy junglers
has some of the worst wave-clear in the game without his ultimate
Can fall very far behind with early deaths(kind of universal)
