Summoner Spells Back to Top

Ignite & Flash

Standard summoners when playing Pantheon toplane vs most match ups, 12.png is viable but doesn't provide as much early aggression and pressure as 14.png.

Smite & Flash [exhaust]

11.png & 4.png are pretty much the summoners you go for when jungling, pick these up most of the times. 3.png jungle is a more cheesy way of jungling with Pantheon. Early ganks and aggressive invades early on can put you and your team ahead, however without flash you are not able to pull off any 4.pngpantheon_leapbash.png

If you do not manage to get a good start with exhaust as Pantheon jungle your mid-late game will not be as effective.

Masteries Back to Top

Thunderlord's Decree is a mastery page based on maxing E in-lane (or jungle). It provides you immense lvls 4-10 burst in 1v1 or even small fights in the mid-game which most players do not expect. I usually run this mastery page against easier match ups where I can trade alot and punish everytime the opponent tries to CS with: AUTO > pantheon_leapbash.pngAUTO > pantheon_heartseeker.png > pantheon_throw.png.
This will usually leave them at 60-50% hp once you're level 4. If you're not range for an auto to start off the combo, use W as a gap closer and then follow up with the combo.

Another mastery page I run is 18 / 12 / 0 with Deathfire Touch in the ferocity tree. This mastery page is focused on maxing Q in lane. With the extra 7% armor pen you gain from the ferocity tree and the deathfire touch proc. you can poke the enemy laner to force them out of lane, deny cs or set up for easy ganks.

For my jungle masteries I run 12 / 0 / 18. [ Attack Speed in Ferocity ]
In the resolve tree I go for Strength of the Ages which basically gives you free 300 HP. The rune page I run for jungle also gives +216 HP at level 18 which adds up to + 516 HP for free! Keeping in mind you will usually build black cleaver or dead man's plate. Additional HP is always good on Pantheon if you choose to engage or flank with your ult. Provides more tankiness and gives your team more time to deal damage if the enemy is focused on you.

Stormraider's Surge is also a keystone that can be picked [whether you're maxing E or Q]. It combos well with youmoo's to either chase an enemy if they get away once you deal that 30% of their health or get away quicker if the engage was a bad idea.

This is the skill order I go for most of the time, maxing E on Pantheon surprises alot of people you play against which makes it easier to punish them harder and snowball easier. It also increases your wave clear by alot if you have enough AD which can be helpful for split-pushing or when getting sieged.

I only choose to max Q against hard match ups, or if Im having a hard time finding ways to chunk the opponent.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

This is a pretty standard starting item. Helps you out with mana problems and increases your trading power.
    Jungle Start

Core Items

A must have first back on Pantheon. Armor Pen + bonus AD is always good. Plus the passive gives you (kill a minion and Q opponent) increased poking power no matter if you're maxing Q or E
These 3 items are the main items I go for most of the time. Gives you enough of AD and Armor Pen. you need to pretty much 1v1 anyone.
These items can be purchased instead of Maw if enemy team doesn't have much AP damage.
Remember to always get a pink ward if you have the gold and space. With the trinkets you can't go wrong, get a trinket you and your team needs most. Faerie Charm is always good item if you need extra mana regen and have extra gold to spare early on [first back]
Any of these boots are good. Mobility boots are good in the jungle early on but can later be sold for any of these based on what the enemy team has.
    Must have jungle item.

Situational Items

Heavy AD enemy team. Dead Man's is probably the best option. Frozen Heart and/or randuin's against AA.
Skillshot CC, AP based engage from enemy team.
    No CC, No Problem!
Snowballing HARD, don't need to be tanky? Want to one-shot? LDR or Mortal Reminder for more Pen vs heavy tank comps.
Enemy team just won't get off you in teamfights. Buy another life ;)

VS

Aatrox

Easy

Nothing to explain. Pretty much dodge Aatrox's E. Maxing Q can be good against this match-up since Aatrox has some sustain, but you can't go wrong with either Q or E. Your passive will block his first auto, you can also combo him before he gets his second auto which arleady wins you the trade because he won't be able to sustain back up before he dies if he carries on fighting.

VS

Cho'Gath

Medium

A little harder match up, maxing Q might be required based on how early levels go. He can easily interrupt your E channel and has ALOT of sustain so poking with Q and deathfire touch will counter him abit more. An early hexdrinker might be required vs his lvl 6 all in.
When engaging on Cho'Gath with your W make sure you side step after you land to dodge his Q.

VS

Darius

Medium

Darius is also a hard match up based on experience. But if you play it correctly you can win easily. I usually max Q against Darius just because he has higher burst in a 1v1 all-in. Early boots (swiftness) or even phage rush is good, poke with Q and dirk combo and easily get away with bonus MS before he hits you with your Q to heal back up.

VS

Dr. Mundo

Easy

Mundo's Q won't have much of an impact in your lane. You can easily win a 1v1 even after Mundo hits 6 since you'll be most likely running ignite. Max E.

VS

Ekko

Easy

A little trickier, wait for him to use his W before you all - in him maxing E or Q is good either way against Ekko. During the 1v1's sidestepping alot between spells and autos is crucial to dodge his Q return else is pretty simple. Poke when he tries to CS, abuse your early game power and counter his ult with ignite to reduces the HP he gets back.

VS

Fiora

Easy

Based on experience this match up is probably the easiest for Pantheon. Maxing E and baiting out fiora's W to then punish her even harder. Try to always have your passive up vs fiora to block her Q and passive proc.

VS

Gangplank

Easy

Start off your combo with W when you're going all-in to make him use his oranges first, he's not gonna be K. Once he uses his W to remove the stun you can just chunk him with E and Q.

VS

Garen

Hard

The passive on W and active makes it harder to trade against Garen. You might have a chance of killing him early before lvl 6, but after that unless you're snowballing focus on roaming and getting your team ahead with your ult since its highly unlikely you'll be able to win a 1v1 vs this guy. I recommend maxing Q and focusing on poke and farming vs garen.

VS

Gnar

Medium

Q or E max is good either way. Your passive will block alot of his early aggression. Make sure to sidestep his W if he's mega gnar and you'll be fine for a 1v1. Don't let him auto you alot if your passive is not up, when you're going for a CS and he pops your passive try to Q or W > E > Q him with autos in between.

VS

Hecarim

Easy

This match-up pretty easy to trade against and even poke without having to max Q. Hecarim usually runs TP and ignite so being aggressive at lvl 3 will most likely pay off since you're stronger than him early game and he won't have flash to get away.

VS

Irelia

Medium

I don't have much experience vs irelia as Pantheon so I can't say much but just based on what I've seen and her kit this match up can go either way based on how the early game turns out.

VS

Jarvan IV

Easy

VS

Jax

Easy

VS

Jhin

Medium

I've played against some Jhin's top and early game isn't easy to deal with. Focus on farming. Unless you see an opening where you can chunk him and get away without being punished don't try to fight much.

VS

Lissandra

Easy

VS

Lulu

Hard

VS

Malphite

Medium

This is an easy match up but since malphite's early game is really weak most of the time he will sit back and try to cs as much as he can. Just try denying him cs because there's a low chance he will try to fight you unless enemy jungler is coming for a gank. You won't be able to snowball off of Malphite much so try to get 6 ASAP and make plays around the map.

VS Easy Match - ups usually max E

VS Medium Match - ups max either E or Q based on how the lane is going and if you're getting camped.

VS Hard Match - ups I recommend maxing Q since you won't have a good time fighting 1v1 so poking is a better option.
