Summoner Spells Back to Top

Ignite gives all-in potential during laning phase with the damage plus the heal reduction.

Take exhaust only when the enemy team has multiple assassin/dive champions (Hecarim, Vi, Zed, Yasuo, Talon, Kha'zix). The trade-off for getting exhaust is that you don't get as hard of an all-in potential during laning phase, which is really important for snowballing the lane. Usually I just stick to ignite.

Ferocity Tree

To start out, I take 3 points in Fury (attack speed), and 2 points in Sorcery (ability damage). I split it up because both are pretty decent on Rakan. The attack speed helps you hit more often along with your AD setup, and the ability damage gives you about 5-10 damage on your full combo mid game.

Flesh blood gives you really good auto harass in lane when champs get to close, or when you're able to get a W-knockup off.

Natural talent gives you AD and AD scaling which helps a lot added on to his high base AD stats and AD marks, along with AP which is always nice since he has very good ap ratios on his utility (explained in runes).

I finish out this tree with Double-Edged Sword because it's really the only mastery that makes sense. In all phases of the game, Rakan is constantly trying to go in, and get out immediately so Battle Trance wouldn't make sense, and usually you don't get enough kills to make use of Bounty Hunter.

Cunning Tree

Starting out in this tree, I take Wanderer because it's really the only mastery that makes sense, and it helps give Rakan roaming potential.

Next, I take the biscuit mastery because, again, it's really the only mastery that makes sense, and the extra healing really helps in 2v2 skirmishes bot.

In this next part, I take 4 points in Merciless because it's nice to have a little bit of that extra damage, and 1 point in  Meditation, which gives you about 1 extra spell every few minutes early laning phase when you're low on mana.

I take Bandit because it gives you a lot of gold and Rakan's autos are easy to get off in laning phase.

Precision helps you get that all-in damage in the early levels because it gives both lethality and magic penetration, which is beneficial because you're sending out autos and Q's in lane

I finish out the mastery page with Thunderlord's, again, because it gives you all-in potential, and it scales off of 30% of your bonus AD, which is about 10 extra damage every Thunderlord's proc.

To start laning phase out, I take W first because you're able to burn an ADC/Support flash level 1 if you hit a W on them. It helps a lot if you have a champion that does a lot of damage, especially a W start Xayah. Also, taking any other spell would make you really useless level 1 because your Q is very easy to dodge and it doesn't really do anything to threaten the enemy, same goes with E start.

Level 2 I take E because it helps you slip and slide around. You start off with a W engage once you're level 2, and you send out as many autos as you can, until either: 1. your passive shield runs out, or 2. you're in a dangerous position to get cc'd (Thresh Flay, Alistar knock-up combo, etc.).

For skill max I max Q first. Q gives you a lot of poking damage—and in extended fights—more heals and damage. This is because at max level, you are reducing the Q cooldown by half. A lot of Rakan players think that it's a bad idea because "the healing scales off of Rakan's level" but they overlook the fact that it lowers the cooldown by a lot. The skill I max second is Rakan's shield. This is because his shield is necessary to go around the map, and you want to play as a healer/shielder with engage potential. People max W first because they think lowering the CD on W will allow you to go in as many times as possible, but you can't really go in without your E up. With an E max, you can still shield your allies for a big amount, even when your abilities are down.
