Summoner Spells Back to Top

Flash:  A must pick spell for rumble since it provides a gap closer and escapability.

TP:  An amazing spell for many different reasons.  It allows you to make up for lost cs if behind, it allows you to succesfully gain huge leads on your opponent by executing proper laning techniques such as zoning, freezing lane, and denying cs.  Tp also allows you to provide global map pressure whenever its up.
Why take tp when i can have kill pressure with ignite?  I only take ignite on mid laners because of reasons listed above.  This is due to situations such as constant lane pressure and maintaining a cs advantage.  When I am winning a lane I dont need kills  Sure a kill is nice, but 18 cs = one kill and maintaining a large cs advantage also means you are outleveling your opponent will also provide you with an item advantage.  A lot of lower elo players tend to take ignite because thye do not understand how to control a lane and how to snowball without it.  The simple way to do this is to freeze lane and harass your opponent when he tries to cs.  Eventually he will fall behind in cs and xp and then you can take control of the lane and do what you want.  Push when they back to deny them cs then roam to provide map pressure and use tp to get back to the lane and miss no cs.  Tp also allows you to come back from being behind we all make mistakes from time to time and tp is liek a lifeline.  It allows you to get back to lane after you die and miss minimum cs and xp.

Ignite: ignite is good but almost only for mid lane.  Mid lane you need burst and ignite provides that extra burst to kill your laner and being mid means you are already able to participate in most things going on on the map so tp is not as useful.

Smite: Jungle Rumble is decent right now it is my alternative to top rumble.  Rumble has great sustain in the jungle with his shield and can farm fast.  Normally I will start red side clear my whole jungle then either gank a lane or invade depending on where their jungler is.  If their jungle ganks top I go and take their jungle or gank bot or mid.  Also knowing when to counter gank is vital to jungling as rumble.  with your ulti you can turn a gank easily or set up easy ganks from afar.

Masteries Back to Top

18-0-12 is now the optimal rumble mastery page along with 12-0-18 if you are jungling.

Reasons:  Deathfire touch is optimal on rumble as it provides the most late game damage and can secure low health kills that seem to always escape you.  It also provides additional magic pen which is great for rumble.  Another benefit of 18-0-12 is the mastery called insight in the resolve page.  It allows you to have your tp and flash up earlier than if you took thunderlords.  The resolve tree also gives you additional health regen and boosts the strength of your W shield.

rumblepassive.png Rumbles Heat is perhaps the most important and most complicated part of rumble.  every spell costs 20 heat and once you hit 50 heat you gain bonuses on his abilities.  essentially rumble gains 25% of his ap as bonuses to each ability.  So keeping your heat at 40-60 is essential to doing damage and comboing correctly.  When watchign me play you will see that i consistently spam my shield and flamespitter but in unique ways.  I do not constantly push lane I Will walk around the wave to harass my opponent soemtimes and i also will face away and use flamespitter to not push the wave.  Overheating provides you with enhanced autos but will silence you.  generally you want to overheat but with your e already procced along with your flamespitter and q.  This is rumbles essential combo and when you want to all in you must make sure you lane your harpoons with your ulti shield flamespitter and overheat to achieve max damage.
rumbleflamethrower.png  Flamespitter is rumbles strongest spell with a 1.0 ap ratio boosted while hes in the danager zone.  Liek above I explain how to not push the lane with it when you do not want to and how to properly harass.
rumbleshield.pngScrap shield is a great way to deny harass and freeze lane while taking minimal minion damage just liek any other shield.  I often start this ability agaisnt high poke champs like vlad or pantheon (always pantheon)
rumblegrenade.png Electro harpoon is great for ccing chammps.  It also allows you to kite efficiently and escape ganks since you egt two shots with it.  Harpoon should also be used to counter play champs such as riven tryndamere wukong or heavy engage champs with dashes.  Why?  Because it allows you to slow them when they engage back up a bit make them wase their abilities that provide them cc then you can succesfully turn on them and harass them with your flamespitter.  Doign this repeatedly will leave you with an advantage where you can then zone them deny them cs and freeze lane and even plan an all in/tower dive.
rumblecarpetbomb.png  Equalizer is rumbles bread and butter.  This ability can single handedly turn team fights, and even make you come on top of a 2v1.  When using equalizer your goal is to zone champs out and do maximum damage especially at choke points.  You generally want to throw the ulti down on their squishy damage dealers so they can not do damage till later in the fight allowing you team to clean up their front line and move onto them or even burst down their backline squishes that are tryign to get out of your ulti with your assasins.  Think about where you lay it if you lay the ult slightly behidn them they will have to move forward if you move it in front slightly they will move backwards this way you can force them certain directons.  Here is an example of a 2v1 my other vid has many 2v1s also

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

I only have this start mid lane vs high poke lanes such as xerath or ziggs so that i can dodge their skill shots and close gaps faster
This item is great as it provides health, health regen, and denys auto damage. I almost always run this item even mid lane as it helps sustain the early game which is rougher for rumble until level 4
great item to build into after your first item as it provides magic pen which in turn = more damage

Core Items

everyone tends to rush this item on rumble which is not a bad thing. DO not feel liek you have to yes it is a power spike on rumble but it is expensive and other items may be better depending on the enemy comp. for example if they have no tanks there is no need for this item.
Zhonyas is a great item for making plays. It provides you 2.5 secons of invulnerability in which you can use your flamespitter and ulti before acitvating it so that you ares till doing damage to them as they cant do damage to you this allows you to tower dive and make flashy plays all the while your cds are being refreshed
Rabadons is good because it provides tons of ap which explains itself haha.
Void staff is great vs tankier comps and even squisher as it provides plenty of ap and tons of magic pen your basiclaly doing true damage.
This item is amazing on the new patch and Rumble. It provides you with that extra burst and gap closer that can secure you the kill. Many rumbles opt into buying this item immediately every game, but I feel like it is only useful if their team and your lane opponent is squishy. For example it is useful against someone like kennen, yasuo, jayce, and riven. When it comes to tankier champs its better to farm up and build pen so you can be more useful agains their resistances they build. By pen I mean sorc boots liandries and void staff rush.

Situational Items

I rush rylas often but agaisnt high engage melee champs such as riven darius irelia wukong. Why? because it provides th health to deny their initial burst and allows you to kite efficiently. This is also a great item to catch ppl with or maintain your lead in lane if you are already ahead allowing you to snowball even harder.
Abyssal is a great item vs tankier ap champs that build mr and also high burst champs such as leblanc, viktor, diana, etc. It provides rumble with flat magic pen ap and mr everything he needs.
ludens is an amazing item on mid rumble and even top sometimes. Mid mainly because it gives him movement speed to dodge skill shots and provides burst which is what midlaners in this meta are about. It allows you to snipe people with you harpoons and ult and is very unexpected damage for the enemy because of the 100 flat damae plus the 10% of your ap added on to your spell.
this item is very meh i dont build it too often unless im very far ahead and dont want to give up any leads while providing myself with resistances.

VS

Ahri

Medium

Ahri is tough since she has many dashes.  In order to kill ahri you need to land both harpoons then all in with ult overheat and hope that you can kill her before she ults away.  Often times you will get her flash but thats what the new item hextech protobelt is for.  This will help you secure those kills of people trying to flash away or jsut instantly burst her if you do it right.  Make sure to also bait out her charm and q by moving forward and then side stepping when she looks as if shes going to q or charm.  This will allow you to trade and waste her mana.

VS

Darius

Gangplank

VS

Garen

VS

Gnar

VS

Irelia

Medium

Irelia is another tough match up because of all of her sustain and her long stun duration.  To defeat an irelia you need to bait out her stun.  If she attempts to stun you while she has higher percent health you will only be slowed and this is when you will win the trade.  Just cc her with harpoons overheat with shield and flamespitter as your form of trade.  Even when she does land the stun on you make sure never to turn away with flamespitter because she will avoid all damage and get free harass on you.  Agaisnt irelias I always rush rylas in order to sustain her true damage and initial burst it also allows you to kite her easily and makes for easy ganks to get you ahead of her.  And again when ahead all you need to do is cs and freeze lane until your team needs you.

VS

Malphite

Easy

VS

Maokai

Medium

VS

Olaf

Hard

Olaf is a rough matchup due to his sustain and invulnerability to cc with his ulti.  Early game is when you need to punish olaf because he does not have the ability to get out of cc and is open to your harass and cannot do anything about it.  To beat an olaf early you need to dodge hisolafaxethrowcast.png. If you can succesfully dodge this ability you can harass him freely with your flamespitter and make a quick overheat auto trade with him then back out.  Remember that olaf gains attack speed the lower hp he has so if you think you can kill him with autos as after your overheat and your abilities are on cd think again because often times olafs will activate theirolaffrenziedstrikes.png giving him passive lifesteal and attack speed and can turn the trade around.  Thats why I often back off then re-engage with them once my flamespitter is up.  Once your ahead all you need to do again is freeze your lane continue to harass and deny him cs.

VS

Renekton

Medium

VS

Riven

Hard

riven is a tough matchup for rumble a master at riven should not lose to a mster at rumble.  Riven has a ton of burst and a large shield that can soak up most of rumbles dots.  This dosnt mean you cannot beat her.  By counter attacking riven you can beat her but it has to be carefully executed and you MUST land your harpoons.  Most rivens go in with their q and stun you knock you up then try to dash away with shield to negate damage.  You must anticipate this and use your shield do gain enough distance so that you can land your harpons as she does this.  That way you can succesfully follow her failed attack with your flamespitter.  You must be careful especially late and back off after you harass her a bit as her shield and stun cooldowns are low and she can ult and then flash stun you and turn it on you.  But again with properly times harpoons once shes half health you can plan an all in on her and succesfully out trade her as long as your inside your ulti.  I tend to freeze lane jsut outside of y turret so she cannot harass me without taking turret shots and i can still cs fine and harass her/deny her cs and call for a gank.

VS

Shen

Easy

VS

Teemo

Easy

VS

Vladimir

Medium

VS

Wukong

Easy

VS

Yasuo

Easy

Yasuo should not be too rough of a match up if you wait bait his windwall with your q.  after he uses his windwall you just proceed to walk around it land your harpoons ulti and all in him.  Without being ganked and with neither yas or you backed you should win the match up.  Make sure in laning phase pre-6 to wait for him to e into you to use your harpoons.  if you miss your harpoons you will most likely lose the trade unless you have more minions.  If you land both harpoons and then overheat with shield flamespitter you should be able to get his flash or kill him.

Info on matchups you want to know Back to Top

wave control Back to Top

Wave control is one of the most improtant aspects of the game.  Above I have explained it slightly and always reference freezing lane etc.  This is part of wave control.  In order to properly control you wave you must have awareness.  If you see their jungle bot you push if you see them top you freeze the lane if you dont see them, well then you have to predict where they are at based on how your laner and other laners are acting.  What do I mean by this?  Well if your up against a laner who seems to be playing back all the time and jsut last hiting when he can and all of a sudden he starts playing up and looking to engage on you its not a coincidence.  Most likely his jungle is there and he is trying to bait you to engage.  Other times the jungle may be top is if you look at other lanes and see your bot lane is pushed in to their turret along with your mid lane and their laners are still in lane.  This would mean one their jungler is soloing drag(if its up)  or he is somehwere near your lane if you are not pushed under tower.  This awareness will win you games and frustrate their jungle.  If you are pushed up make sure to be aware and ward up!  How do you freeze lane?  Freezing lane i simple but can be dangerous at times.  If your laner is pushing hard let him but make sure to keep last  hitting.  His wave will push towards you and once it gets close to your turret you want to stand in front of your turret and use your shield and maybe a pot if needed in order to have the minions stop in front of your turret until your minions come.  Your lane is now succesfully frozen and you have control over what you can o with it.  You can harass the enemy and not get harassesd too much because you are under turret, you can push the wave hard if the enemy backs making him lose xp and cs, and you can tp to other lanes after pushing forcing their top laner to A) miss the cs and xp to answer your tp or B) choose to get the cs and xp while you are aiding your team.  Either way it is a win win situation for you.

MAKING A LARGE PUSHING WAVE: alot of people do not know how to make a large pushing wave and just choose to push all the time.  Making a huge wave push towards the enemy forces them to do two things ( listed above) this is why it is great and people NEED to utilize this tactic.  In order to do this freezing lane is key then a way to create the largest possible wave towards the enemy is to ONLY kill the back minions.  Why not cs everything? This is due to your lane pusing faster due to you aiding in the minions death.  When you only kill the back minions your wave will die alot slower due to there being no casters (which do most damagae) and your wave will start to stack ontop of that one wave of enemy minions and will overcome the other waves that show up.  this tactic can create a giant wave of minions (3-4 waves)  and can solo push towers.  Once your wave is cleared it also forces a giant wave of enemy minions towards you and by that time you will be finished roaming and be back in lane to enjoy the juicy huge cs wave!

About me Back to Top

I am currently a D2 top/mid lane main and I am going for master in the pre season and hopefully challenger this upcoming season.  I am climbing pretty fast since I took last seaosn off just to practice every lane and multiple champs.  This proved to be helpful since I am currently at a 63% win rate and am climbing very fast.  I stream often at twitch.tv/vato1234 and enjoy people talking to me and asking questions in chat.  I started playing league late season 3 and was introduced to rumble by my friend who taught me all about him and taught me about every match up.  Please feel free to comment and ask more questions and request match ups you would like to see since i am going to be editing this guide consistently. Thanks! [UPDATE]  alright boys and girls I'm back and bigger than ever (literally) I got Master this season then took a long break but am currently climbing back up I will actually try to update this guide in particular matchups since they have changed a lot.  Thank fierce on my stream for telling me to update it!
