Summoner Spells Back to Top

I'd run exhaust if the enemies have an assassin midlaner, like Talon or Zed, and I'd run ignite if the enemies don't really have a lot of escapes and are squishy - that makes snowballing early game easier. If my toplaner and midlaner have ignite, I will probably take exhaust.

Thunderlord's Decree? I use that. Shaco? I play that. Burst with it is just insane.

Get Q level 2 and go mid to get the enemy midlaner's flash. They won't ward early because they're dumb and go like "HURR HE'LL DO HIS BUFFS AND GO TOP LEVEL 3", so they're either FB or a burnt flash , camp mid next 5 mins if flash is used.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

    Typical start

Core Items

The Warrior enchantment gives you 60 ad for barely any gold, which is huge. The difference between having it and a normal Stalker's is HUGE for a really low price. The new Ghostblade is so dumb. You get the Dirk first for the armor pen. 60 ad, armor pen and a sick active makes the item AMAZING on Shaco. Once you get it you do more damage than a freaking Veigar ult.

Situational Items

Your next item should be the Hydra, overall great burst, clear and such. After it, you get Sterak's. The item is just broken, not just on Shaco, on every champion, even Teemo. When you go in you usually get focused and bursted, and it's an anti-burst item.
More armor pen + mr, great.

Boots

Boots of Mobility
3117_64.png

They give you a lot of mobility, giving you the ability to gank every lane a fair amount of times. They also make lane ganks a lot easier. I'd only buy them if my midlaner is winning, but both my top and bot need a lot of help. They don't give any offensive stat, which isn't all that good for mid-late game.

Berserker's Greaves
3006_64.png

They give attack speed which is an amazing stat on Shaco. They make clearing your jungle a lot faster, but you lose a lot of mobility. I buy them a decent 95% of my Shaco games.

Ninja Tabi
3047_64.png

They're extremely good if the enemy team runs a full AD/ 2x ADC comp, it also helps you win 1v1 trades more than Berserker's do with almost every other jungler.

Mercury's Treads
3111_64.png

They're extremely good against 3x AP/ Heavy CC teams. Even if the enemies only have 1 AP and he's not really fed, if they have a lot of CC, they're better than Tabis. I still wouldn't pick them up since you can dodge CC with your ult.

Sorcerer's Shoes
3020_64.png

Due to Shaco having three abilities that deal magic damage, they're not that bad for early game. But 2/3 of those abilities are hard to use well for damage. I wouldn't get them unless I'm trolling around with AP Shaco.

Core

Ravenous Hydra
3074_64.png

Hydra is an amazing item on Shaco because it gives you sky-high burst damage, waveclear which Shaco has none of and an autoattack reset which also adds up to your burst/clear. It's good both if you decide to teamfight and if you decide to splitpush. It's the first core item I get every single game.

Trinity Force
3078_64.png

Every single stat it gives works well with Shaco, the Sheen proc is amazing for burst, extra health is always useful on assassins, and the movement speed lets you get to your enemies faster, avoiding running out of stealth while in a bad position. The movement speed boost from Phage's passive, Zeal's movement speed boost and your Shiv make it extremely easy to stick to targets.

Last Whisper
3035_64.png

Buy it after 3 of the enemies have at least 150 armor. Armor pen. is huge on Shaco, since most of the damage comes from auto attacks. I wouldn't buy it unless the enemy team is stacking heavy armor to counter me, but then my APs would have an amazingly easy time.

Infinity Edge
3031_64.png

Infinity Edge adds an amazing amount of burst damage to Shaco, due to his first attack after his Q being a crit. Also, buying Infinity Edge and Trinity Force gives you a decent amount of crit chance, meaning the attack after your Q isn't going to be the only insane crit you'll get when fighting someone.

Guardian Angel
3026_64.png

It's really good on Assassins since they get focused a lot when they're fed. It doesn't really give all that many resists, but the revive is huge lategame, when 1 death could throw the whole game, and get right back into the teamfight. I'd only buy it as a last item.

Youmuu's Ghostblade
3142_64.png

I buy it when I'm really far ahead, but not far enough to buy an infinity edge yet. The armor pen. it gives makes it really good early game, since instagibbing becomes way easier. It also helps you get to your targets faster. Usually lategame I sell it for a Trinity Force though, since Trinity Force gives more burst than Ghostblade does, but is very expensive and is not as good as Ghostblade early.

VS

Amumu

Easy

He's like so weak. Early game you can destroy him with your eyes closed. Thing is, though, no matter how unskilled of a player and unworthy of winning an Amumu player is, he still wins lategame because his teamfighting is autisticly strong (And very mechanically challenging ofcourse Kappa). Gotta go full assassin against Amumu and try to finish the game ASAP.

VS

Elise

Medium

Elise is a strong duelist, ganker and such, but she's rarely played in the current meta because she's only good with some team comps. She's easy to counterjungle in the first 3-4 levels but after that I'd advise you not to.

VS

Evelynn

Medium

Evelynn has a lot of burst damage early on if she maxes E first , and can take your box out before it has even feared her with her Q. You'll probbly have to ward in her jungle to keep track of where exactly she is, since she can gank lanes ignoring the wards.

VS

Fiddlesticks

Easy

Fiddle has slow clearing and isn't much of a duelist early on. If you've got your offensive summoner and cancel his drain with a box , you'll be able to kill him easily. I get really really happy when I play vs Fiddles because it's freelo :)

VS

Gragas

Hard

Ban him. Ban him every game. If the enemy team picks him, just dodge. Never play this match-up, ever. Actually, not just the match-up, don't play vs Gragas at all if you want to win.

VS

Hecarim

Medium

He's easy to counterjungle , but if he counterganks a lane , you're done. His 2v2/3v3 potential is high. He's also a bit tanky early on and can W-smite a camp if you're dueling him near a non-cleared camp.

VS

Jarvan IV

Medium

He's not as strong as he used to be, but he's still a threat. Dueling him is easy, but if you get caught up in a 2v2/3v3 and they have a stealth reveal and you're stuck in his ult, you're done for.

VS

Lee Sin

Hard

I'll go in-depth on this one since a lot of people pick Lee to counter Shaco.

He's got a retarded kit with a ton of damage, extremely high mobility, has stealth reveal on 2 of his abilities and can be rather tanky. Since most Lee Sin's start at their red buff no matter which side they're on and then go to the enemies second buff, you'll have to start with a Warding Totem and ward the bushes near your 2nd buff.  You can easily duel him by abusing your boxes and ult to block his skillshots and trick him into thinking your clone is the real Shaco, but that's mid-late game. Early game, if Lee invades you, just run away and spam assistance pings, you have absolutely no chance of dueling him unless he's a bit less than half hp and you're at like 100%.

However, if they pick Lee, not all hope is lost. A Lee Sin, if played correctly, can give Shaco a really really hard time, but if he's not a good Lee, you'll easily be able to stomp him by counter ganking and focusing him. Most Lee's gank top/mid at level 3, so be ready to counter gank around that time. He's really squishy early game so if you focus him you'll get him rid of his double buff and he'll fall extremely far behind. While he's dead you can take his wraiths and golems to set him even further behind.

VS

Master Yi

Easy

Awful champion. He's easy to invade, easy to 2v2/3v3, you'll rarely play vs one since he's rarely picked or if he's picked the enemy team dodges, but if you play vs him, you get FREELO

VS

Nautilus

Medium

He's got a very slow clear time , but he's good at dueling earlygame. He's also a stronger 2v2/3v3er than you are. Counterjungle him early on.

VS

Nocturne

Medium

He is a strong duelist and a strong 2v2/3v3er due to his fear , and he's got a fast clear due to his passive. He usually drops low while doing his 2nd buff , so try getting a kill on him then.

VS

Pantheon

Hard

He's OP as hell. He has a block which blocks your crit, a stun and retarded burst damage from his Q, which is followed up by duration damage from his E, along with a 100% crit when you're low. Also, he can counter gank with his ult, and if you're in a bad position when he ults behind you, you're screwed.

VS

Rammus

Easy

He's not a strong duelist , but he's got a strong 2v2/3v3. He's easy to counterjungle easy on due to his lack of singletarget damage.

VS

Rengar

Easy

If you get ahead of him pre-6, it'll be extremely easy to duel him. After 6, if he got to the point where he can instagib you coming out of his ult, you can still beat him. If you have your ult up that is. While he's leaping towards you, you can negate any damage with your ult, after your ult finishes casting instantly Q, move into a decent position for your backstab and instagib him. Later on if everyone's grouped mid, I'd advise you not to go in unless you see him somewhere else or if he's in the front lines. His ult's invisibility revealing can screw you over big time.

VS

Shaco

Medium

In a mirror matchup , it's all about ganking. You can't counterjungle another Shaco early game due to the fact you have the same clear time. Shacos usually level 3 gank top , so if your toplaner is strong early , you'll be the one to win the matchup.

VS

Shyvana

Easy

She's a strong duelist , but she's easy to counterjungle due to the fact you can escape with Q and she can't really follow up on you. She's not all that good at 2v2/3v3s

VS

Skarner

Easy

He's got a fast clear , but he's possibly the worst duelist. You can easily counterjungle him and kill him if he tries fighting you , but he's stronger than you in 2v2/3v3 due to his ult's CC.

VS

Tahm Kench

Hard

Bench the Kench.

VS

Trundle

Medium

Slow clear ; strong duelist ; not so strong 2v2/3v3. He's tanky and has a lot of sustain , which compensates for his lack of damage and he's got his pillar's CC which is good for ganking , but if you countergank you should be able to beat him and the laner.

VS

Udyr

Easy

God damn Trick2G fanboys. He has a fast clear , a very strong 2v2/3v3 and is an excellent duelist. Counterjungle him only when you see him on the map or his jungle is warded , never try fighting him though.

VS

Vi

Medium

Vi is so obnoxious. Her damage is retarded, she can be tanky as hell,  shreds armor and has a pretty damn annoying ult that you can only dodge with your R. Early game she's squishy and usually loses quite some HP from clearing the jungle camps, if she counter ganks or you counter gank, make sure you focus her unless the laner is really low. In a straight up 1v1 duel she beats you.

VS

Volibear

Medium

He's a strong duelist , has a semi-fast clear and is really strong in 2v2/3v3. He has his passive's sustain to make him even tankier than he already is. Counterjungling him early is something you should look into since he's not as strong then and your ignite should help out with his passive.

VS

Warwick

Easy

He's got a very slow clear , he's tanky and his 2v2/3v3 is strong. He's a somewhat decent duelist but he becomes useless if he falls behind. Counterjungling him early game will be pretty useful for midgame since falling behind as Warwick is really hard to deal with.

VS

Xin Zhao

Medium

He's an extremely strong duelist, making it rather hard to counter jungle him. He doesn't need a lot of damage items to do a lot of damage, making him a decent tank. Instagibbing him mid-late game would be rather impossible. Early game you can duel him if you've go more hp than he does.

VS

Zac

Easy

Haven't seen one in ages. He scales well late game but early game you can easily outjungle him. He loses a lot of HP so counter jungling him is extremely easy. Don't forget you can smite his passive blobs!

Introduction Back to Top

Hello , my name is Reminiscence (DizzyDisaster) , I'm a diamond main whose favorite champion is Shaco. Welcome to my Shaco guide! I was Platinum season 3, Diamond season 4 and now I'm Diamond again in season 5.

Why play Shaco ? Back to Top

Shaco's ganks are extremely strong early game and can snowball lanes to a point where they'd win 1v2/2v3. Shaco has to be soooo far behind to not be able to instagib squishy targets. All you need to do is use is your Q , get behind them for the passive , E and hydra active and they're dead.

Routes Back to Top

Always start red buff, always. With the new season 5 jungle, Shaco is the only jungler who can do both his buffs and another camp to hit 3 with having 85% of his hp left without using a potion. Here's a video made by CombatCube showing his awesome route.

Also , here's something interesting. This guide is made by ShakeDrizzle. Just posting it as an idea if anyone wants to try something out.

Blue team counter jungle strat. Back to Top

I do this as blue team every game and it works great. I don't do it when I'm red team because sometimes the enemy jungler can wreck you due to the redbuff. Get your botlane to help you with 3 auto attacks each on redbuff, it's more than enough. After that you go to river and Q over the wall to go towards their bluebuff. The enemy jungler is ALWAYS low as hell and 95% of the time you get a kill. I really don't think I can get screenshots of how it works in an actual game, so I'll just try and explain it with screenshots from a custom game with my buddy

3nZZ8uf.png

After that, you go into the bush and wait for the enemy jungler's blue to get in your smite's range. You place a box 1 auto before that, the enemy champ auto's the blue, you smite it and go ham on him.

MA3ZEEj.png

Now that you've taken the enemy jungler's bluebuff and killed him/burnt his flash, you can go do your bluebuff. Wait.. what? No, that's wrong, WE WANT HIS RED TOO. You instantly run to his red and ward it, after which you run over to baron pit and play the waiting game.

uibBheC.png

When the red has about 2/3rds of it's HP, you Q over the wall and set up your tent in the bush. Again, when the red is 1 attack away from your smite range, you place a box behind the enemy jungler and smite the redbuff.
After that, you go for another kill. Do not try to overkill, taking the redbuff is enough. Keep an eye on the enemy toplaner and midlaner's positions.
FCFjRF1.png

How to solo drake at level 6 Back to Top

As Shaco you can solo drake easily at level 6. Go for it when you see the enemy jungler ganking top, when the enemy botlane dies or when you kill the enemy jungler or jungler and midlaner at mid. You want to place a trinket ward in the bush on the other side of red team's bluebuff wall. The pink is usually nice to place, but not really necesarry.

CYjLxpr.png

Early game priorities Back to Top

Early game your priority is to gank NONSTOP , make the enemy laners lives miserable. Pick one lane and camp it , go to the other 2 from time to time. Mid is easiest to camp as Shaco , since most midlaners don't have an escape in their kit and there's so many places Shaco can gank mid from. Getting an early dragon as Shaco is easy , if you see the enemy jungler at top , instantly go for it , you can solo it after 6.

Mid game priorities Back to Top

After you've gotten your Hydra you can do a ton of damage , instagib people who are behind. Nearly instagib people who are ahead. Focus on picking up people who are isolated from their team to snowball yourself or get objectives with your team.

Late game priorities Back to Top

Lategame depends on how good your and the enemy carries positioning is. Your objective in team fights is to instagib one of the carries, which shouldn't really be hard if you did well early-mid game.  This is how 99% of games should go.

Still, there is that 1% of games where not everything will go as planned:
If the enemies are way too ahead for you to fight, have a way better teamfight composition, the enemy carries both have OP escapes (for example Ezreal's E, a 8 second cd flash, or Ahri's R which gives her 3 additional flashes which do insane damage), or a support like Leona who does a good job at defending carries, I'd advise you to either go for the Devourer build and split push ( You can 1v1 nearly everyone with that build and escape if it's more people due to all the movement speed, but you can't really instagib squishy people), or buy a Shiv with the regular build and split with that (You'll be able to duel squishy targets but you won't stand a chance against most bruisers, so you should try and run away. If they send a lot of people after you and 1 of them is squishy, try to kill the squishy, escaping isn't very likely unless you're really good at juking).
