Summoner Spells Back to Top

Why Ghost instead of Flash?
Shyvana's ult is practically pseudo-flash, in which you can use it either to chase or escape. Ghost adds more mobility with 27% MS boost + no unit collision which is significantly better than flash to keep up or escape from 77_64.png or 11_64.pngfor example. Although flash still provides a good escape or gapclose through terrain so you can still pick it over ghost if you really need it.

Take TP at your own risk!
Nerfs on CD and longer channel time are painful. If you insist on getting this spell, don't waste it.

Exhaust/Ignite
Cheese top lane with these summoner spells, but be warned, this may not always work against all matchups.

Masteries Back to Top

There's a lot of good masteries this season, so there's no need to abuse Thunderlord's Decree like everyone else (seriously even ADC's use it?!).

I suggest taking Grasp of the Undying for the huge sustain, it's 3% of your max health in lifesteal, which can save you in a fight. Also capitalise on Double-Edged Sword since you are a melee bruiser anyways, for moar damage output.

Or choose Fervor of Battle if looking to win an extended 1v1.

For both Top and Jungle, always start and max Burnout (W) 1st, the MS, on-hit damage is magic, not physical (harder to itemise against, for your opponents). This is Shyvana's "bread" to the "butter" ability: you're naturally stronger in a trade with Burnout so feel free to spam it. Just be mindful of pushing wave too hard with it though.

Take and max out Flame Breath (E) 2nd for the poke and on-hit damage. This is Shyvana's "butter" ability; you are even stronger in a fight if you can land this beforehand. However in a hard, ranged matchup -> 126.png it's better to max Flame Breath 1st if you need a safe laning phase. The CD is rather high but you can last-hit with it and poke as well.
*Don't bother fighting without tagging someone with E 1st, you might lose the trade (just a WORD OF WARNING)

Twin Bite (Q) is generally maxed last, since it's just an AA amplifier and the CD isn't that long if you keep autoattacking units, so unless you want to spam this ability leave it till last. *With the nerf to Twin Bite, suggest to put an early 2nd point in it, to deal the same amount of damage as a pre-nerf Rank 1 Twin Bite (Q)

But always, ALWAYS max out your ultimate (R) whenever you can, at levels 6,11 and 16. The damage on the dash is quite strong early on, and you can use it to initiate pretty much every fight because you will be building up a lot of fury by AA's.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

    Kill Lane Start
    Jungler Start
    Anti-AD Start
    Passive Start
    ALWAYS UPGRADE TRINKETS!

Core Items

    Duel=Skirmishers
    Gank=Stalkers
HP + AD + AP + AS = Hybrid Bruiser Dragon. These are her first two items
    Pick from these armor items
Core MR Item (unless CC-heavy enemies)
    For CC-Heavy enemies
    Core 1: Hybrid Bruiser Build
6th Items (pick between these two)
In need of more defenses ^^
Core 2: Jungle Hybrid Bruiser Build

Situational Items

In need of Armor Penetration and Attack Speed. (and has great active, too)
AP Shyv, Strong Flame Breath, but still needs some defensive items for it to work
Honestly a situational item, take only if you're getting focused 24/7
In need of more Attack Speed + MR
    Too expensive, unless snowballing hard

Starting Items

1055.png - This should generally be your first item, you will be generally playing aggressive with Shyvana anyways.
1054.png - This should be used against or autoattackers 5.png or opponents with single target spells as reading the item stats suggests 8.png.
1029.png - This should be used against AD-oriented early-game champions who rely on first blood, pre-6 kills to be relevant in the game, good examples being 92.png and 80.png.
1041.png - Now there's more jungle items, I suggest to still take the original (and the best) Hunter's Machete when jungling.

Core Items

3124.png - Attack Damage + Ability Power + Attack Speed in one item. Definitely core nowadays, since Shyvana now has AP Scalings on Burnout (W).
3143.png - This is core against CRIT champs (at least three of them on enemy team or one you're fighting top lane such as 23.png,157.png). Anyone else get 3742.png instead.
3068.png - This item synergises with Shyvana's Burnout (W). The magic damage aura adds more AOE burns to enemies. The choice of early armor is up to you to build, but personally I enjoy Shyvana as AoE hybrid half-dragon, and Sunfire's Cape + Burnout = Better damage.
3065.png - Regardless if team has heavy AP or not, this item is  core on Shyvana as it synergises with lifesteal and health regen and decent MR. The only time you would take other MR items 3102.png 3091.png is when you need more AS or health.
3931.png3930.png - Bloodrazor on its own isn't exactly powerful on Shyv, you'll need an AS item to supplement it.
3748.png - You get a good chunk of health, which Titanic Hydra scales from maximum HP, so it will be quite powerful. The more you AA, the harder and more frequently this item hits, so building AS + HP makes this item more efficient in a defensive build.
3022.png - For 6th item, if ahead and not dying too much, then get Frozen Mallet, cos then your autoattacks can apply slow whilst killing enemies. Especially potent when paired with 3748.png.
3026.png - For 6th item, if not very ahead and getting killed pretty quickly, then get Guardian Angel. You'll always get a second chance, and the armor + magic resist is pretty good to stack with your other defenses.

Situational Items

3074.png - Is niche. While 75 AD and health regen is ok on her, Cleave effect is redundant as her Burnout is good enough waveclear.
3053.png -Feel free to use this item every once in a while, because it gives some strong stats (HP + Moar damage) and the shield is quite useful against burst champions, although imo it activates a bit too late when you really need it.
3153.png - %HP active and passive. The active gives you a much-needed CC in the form of a minor slow, which is more than enough for you to catch up to your opponent, tag him with Flame Breath (E) and kill them. Too expesive for normal games nowadays.
3078.png - Same as above ^^

VS

Aatrox

Medium

Top

-This champ shouldn't be too annoying, his methods of engage (Q or E) will hurt you if you get hit so try and avoid them.
-He has a weak-ish lvl6 ult and tbh you have a stronger trade than him providing you hit Flame Breath (E) and avoid his abilities.
-If he tries to whack you with a Blood-Price enhanced AA, just try and back off. However if he's below 50% HP and he has Blood-Price on instead of Blood-Thirst try and kill him.

Jungle

-He doesn't do much besides farming up and getting killsteals off his lanes most of the time, so just either outfarm him or gank harder

WORD OF WARNING: Don't get baited by his passive under tower/in a gank, you will die and regret it.

VS

Akali

Easy

Top

-Really easy to bully in lane before 6, just don't eat too many Q's
-Gets harder when she hits 6 because of burst-dash x3 so be careful of that
-She won't be able to do much if you've shut her down pre-6 and have a good advantage in gold, CS and kills
-Hiding in her shroud won't do her any good, since you will just have Burnout (W) running while autoattacking creeps inside her shroud and she will literally be cooked like a egg in a frying pan :P

VS

Aurelion Sol

Hard

Top

-Well, he doesn't go top, but since he's a dragon like you, things can get very messy.
-Ranged and has permanent AoE, this will hurt you in an extended trade. I suggest to just spam Flame Breath (E) AND dodge his StarSurge (his Q).
-Don't fight too aggresively if he has mana to burn for his W cos it hurts. You also don't have any CC that disables his passive, so be careful.

VS

Cho'Gath

Easy

Top

-As long as you dodge Rupture (ez) and Feral Scream (much harder), he should be of no threat to you
-You can kill him pre-6 and post-6 before he has stacks on Feast. Then he will be harder to kill later on.
-Watch out for his Feast and don't hang around with less than 400HP (at least) OR YOU WILL GET MUNCHED ON BY CHOGATHAURUS REX!

Jungle

-He is extremely reliant on blue buff and is unable to duel you, so feel free to bully him in his own jungle and steal his camps.
-He does have good ganks so be mindful of where he goes (map awareness+wards) so you can countergank

VS

Darius

Hard

Top

-Darius bullies A LOT of melee top laners due to that bleed and true damage ult, but his kit is very binary. Shutting him down early will render him useless until he killsteals his own team with his ult.
-Pre-6 you know what items to start, attempt to gauge if Darius is aggressive or passive by straight-up autoattacking him. Sounds dangerous, I know, but if he retaliates with a close-range Q then he's probs not a very good Darius, and you can find a way to bully him or even kill him.
-Trade AA's with him if he uses Q since he will need to rely on AA and Crippling Strike to trade back which would leave him with nothing else to spam but a harmless E (Apprehend doesn't apply Haemorrhage) and you can outdamage him with E+W+AA+Q then back away before he gets 5 stacks of bleed on you.
-If he gets more than 2 bleed stacks on you will get bullied in this matchup, so if trading damage always count how many bleed stacks (or basketballs) are orbiting your character.
-If you haven't secured a lead before he hits lvl 6 you will need to play very passively as he has ult to kill you if you commit to a fight. YOU WILL NEED JUNGLER ASSISTANCE BY THIS STAGE.
-Providing you haven't fed him 3-0 he won't do much in teamfights besides trying to kill your carry, just shove him back with your ult in teamfights + 3153.png him. You make a better contribution to your team anyways in the late game than he does to his own team.
-Don't attempt to fight him with BloodRage passive up at any circumstances. He will straight out-damage you and will more than likely instagib you with ult. Then instagib your team right afterwards. (*New Rework Darius Tip)

VS

Dr. Mundo

Easy

Top

-Dodge his Infected Cleavers (Q) as much as possible, then proceed to beat him up.
-Take 14.png to counter his HP Regen
-He stacks health to buff his ult up, which means your BotRK+E deals more damage, all the better.

Jungle

-He farms all day and tries to rush cinderhulk, just make a bigger impact by ganking more than he does or outfarming him.

VS

Fiora

Easy

Top

-Before her rework, Fiora is easy because you can bait out her Riposte and outdamage her in an early trade pre-6 or even post-6. If she's not fed, she can't kill you with her ult due to your supa-stronk passive
-With her rework, she is a lot more dangerous; she will attempt to flank you so she can proc her passive true damage on you (or if she has ult up, she will just AA you to death). She also has an improved Riposte which will screw you over if YOU GET BAITED out by using Q. Her E isn't scary imo though.
-Post rework, this matchup would probably be slightly more difficult, but should still be manageable. Again bait out her parry before trading against her, but don't let her hit your Vitals or you will lose trade.

VS

Fizz

Easy

Top

-Despite his passive "block "x" amount from AA damage", he can't fight you early on without spamming his E and Q, which means he would run out of mana.
-Bully him early because you are simply stronger with Burnout running anyways.
-It's a little trickier when he hits lvl6 but as long as the shark don't eat you, you can eat him (dragons are fish-eaters too!)

Jungle

-He will likely do the same as you and stack Devourer, but if he does so he will be squishier than you, so you still win in the jungle.
-Or if he goes the Runeglaive AP path, he might be more impactful because he will gank more often, so just watch out for his item build.

VS

Gangplank

Medium

Top

-Start Doran's Shield or Cloth Armor against this pirate, he hurts hard with that Q spam and his true damage DoT passive.
-Tank his early Q shots then attempt to trade some AA's with him, but be careful where he places his barrels or you might eat a lot of damage from barrels+passive reset.
-He's stronger and more impactful in a game when he hits lvl6 so you may need jungler assistance to shut him down and get him to waste his ult on you, instead of killstealing bot lane.

VS

Garen

Easy

Top

-He's strong early and his W will negate a lot of your damage. Make sure W is down before attacking him.
-If you see him using Decisive Strike (Q) fire Flame Breath on him and switch on Burnout before you get silenced, that way you outdamage him even if he's spinning with E.
-Keep firing Flame Breath's (E) at him so that his HP regen passive doesn't trigger.
-Be careful at 6, he will probs get his jungler to gank you so he can execute you with DEMACIAAAAN Justice. Always ward and watch your health.
-New Rework Garen is still weaker than you, but you must be careful when you are marked as the Villain, as he will focus you and his attacks WILL hurt this time (OP as fk %HP true damage). But still, providing you don't stay around with low health, you can still kill him using the tips above.

VS

Gnar

Hard

Top

-As a ranged hybrid ADC/Tank champion with 6 different CC, you're going to have a bad time.
-Get your jungler to gank as much as possible.
-Try and last hit with E and avoid his AA and boomerangs. Like Vayne, don't eat 3 AA's or you will get hurt bad.
-He gets worse at 6 because he will probably try and jump on you, turn Mega and then stun you then ult you into wall+ignite. If that doesn't kill you he will chuck rocks at you until you die.
-Really hard matchup overall, just try and play passively and watch out for openings where he takes creep aggro and misses Q.

VS

Graves

Medium

Jungle

-So now it's the new season, and Graves is God-Tier Jungler, what the hell is this world coming too????
-Rant aside, he's a pain to fight in the new jg, doe he lacks proper CC like you. Don't fight inside his Smokescreen (W) and try to dodge his Q and R as much as you can.
-Also, since his ult knocks him back, he may use it to escape you. Hold on to your ult and flash until after he has used his escapes and ult before you dive on top of him.

VS

Hecarim

Medium

Top

-War Pony, as long as he has the mana for it, will endlessly spam Q to bully you out of lane. This is usually the case with lower ranks; most Hecarims are just really reckless and will happily charge at you 24/7.
-You won't out-trade him as long as he has that Q up. But while that and his W are on CD, then try and hit him then. Put simply, abuse his cooldowns.
-He can coordinate his E with his jungler to bully you even harder. In this case, you WILL need 6.png otherwise you won't escape.
-He has a strong lvl 6, which again, can be setup during a gank. Respect his ult, and if its on CD for whatever reason, then fight him.
-His job in teamfights is literally to run over your ADC and APC. Use your Dragon's Descent (R) to push him away. Gotta keep peeling for them in this case, since if you don't...well... gg.

Jungle

-Ponycopter will be ganking heaps; he is like a mini-J4 with Warrior's Enchantment who will non-stop charge at lanes like a friggin chopper. Outfarming him is key, since by lategame you should've outscaled him (AD Casters fall off compared to those AA melee's imo)

VS

Heimerdinger

Hard

Top

-One of your hardest matchups, you will get zoned out 24/7 from CS and if you step into his turret range you will get chunked down.
-Last-hit with your E and if possible try and take down his turrets.
-Avoid his V2 rockets and Stungrenade.
-This lane only gets harder at 6, so if you haven't killed him yet with jungle assistance, you will have an even harder time.
-Overall, play it safe and just roam instead (to get kills and CS)

VS

Illaoi

Medium

New Champ, have not encountered her in top, so not much to suggest here,

-Probs respect her tentacle passive. Don't bother fighting her where her tentacles are (especially if its 3 of them)
-She's strong at zone control so taking CS or jungle creeps would be a bit more difficult than usual. Suggest maxing Flame Breath (E) to kill creeps and harass her.

VS

Irelia

Medium

Top

-Skill matchup
-Don't underestimate Irelia's damage and Equilibrium Strike in a trade or you will lose.
-If trading against her, don't linger too long because you will be eating true damage.
-She can heal off your attacks at lvl6 so try and get a kill on her before then.
-She's slightly better than you in midgame and lategame because if you ult her or someone else she will just stun you. Consider getting 3102.png for her CC and some health for her true damage AA's.

VS

Jarvan IV

Medium

Top

-He is strong earlygame thanks to his passive and his Q-E poke. Dodge those abilities before trading with him.
-He will run out of mana trying to pull of Q-E if he keeps missing, so just keep dodging.
-You can just ult out of his Cataclysm at lvl6 so save your ult for when he jumps you.
-He builds like a conventional bruiser that will inevitably fall off in damage lategame but he will still be a threat with his CC and tankiness.

Jungle

-He has stronger ganks, but he will be weaker than you because he builds Warrior and not OP Devourer.
-Try and outfarm/counter-jungle him if he ganks, but also try to help out your team with at least one gank so that they won't get camped.

VS

Jax

Medium

Top

-Skill matchup, depending on whether he gets the Counter-Strike stun off on you.
-You will not win a full trade against him, so you need time your engage with which of his abilities is on CD. If his dodge move is down, then is your chance to strike. Preferably, save your Twin Bite (Q) until he uses up his Counter-Strike (E) on you, so you can return the damage that he dodged from your autoattacks.
-His ult is your passive, it's not very impactful unless he builds tanky so you can bully him out even with his ult up.

Jungle

-Will likely get Devourer and stack like you do
-Depending on who finished Devourer first and which team is ahead, he might outscale you and vice versa

VS

Jayce

Hard

Top

-It's essentially like the Gnar matchup, he can kill you if he lands an Accelerated Shock Blast (Q-E ranged) early on.
-Last-hit with E and don't try and fight him unless he runs out of mana, in which case he will turn melee and restore it by W, then trade with him.
-You have a stronger lvl 6 than he does, and you can try and kill him then, assuming he doesn't knock you back and you don't get hit by Q-E.
-He has good poke in teamfights and a MS escape. This is where bringing 6.png should come in handy to chase Jayce away even if he uses Acceleration Gate (ranged E).

VS

Kayle

Medium

Top

-She will kite you, any time of day. So technically this should be a hard matchup, but you can kill her without her E and W up.
-This lane gets harder when a.) she gets lich bane and runaan's to shred you/nuke you and b.) when she ults herself and mitigates your entire damage output. Call for jungler ganks.
-Watch out who she will ult in a teamfight so you can either kill her or their other damage dealers.

Jungle

-She will be stacking Devourer like you.
-Unlike you, she has a hard time with her first few clears, so you can impact the game harder by early ganks or taking her own jungle or just straight up killing her.

VS

Kennen

Hard

Top

-Annoying matchup; any attempt to trade with him will just end up in you getting stunned while he dances around you in his electroball form.
-Killing him will be difficult pre-6 and post-6, you will really need the jungler's help for this one.
-Stack the MR or armor depending on what he builds so that he can't bully you as hard.

VS

Kha'Zix

Easy

Jungle

-Kha'Zix is in a pretty weak spot this season. He may still be remembered as that infamously OP stealth bug from previous seasons, but right now he's weaker than you.
-He will rush either the Warrior or Runeglaive Enchantment, to try and score kills from other lanes, preferably bot. He works similarly to Rengo 107.png in that he needs to snowball off kills.
-You can deny him this snowball by countergank. Also, unless he's 10/0, he shouldn't be killing you even if you're Isolated. You are simply too tanky for him if he doesn't have any armor/magic pen. He, on the other hand, is a squishy bug and you will stomp him like the bug he is lol.
-However he does have rapid clears with his AoE, self-heal Void Spike (W), mobility with Leap (E). So counterjungling him isn't going to hurt him as hard as Rengo.

VS

Lee Sin

Medium

Top

-Dodge his Q and don't trade while he has E up. Without these abilities you easily dominate him in lane.
-Even if he kicks you away with his ult, you can just ult back at him.
-His Cripple (E) previously reduced enemy AS, but its still just as strong against you in the laning phase. Be careful of this ability while he has it up, he might spam it whilst you're lasthitting, or as setup for jungler.

Jungle

-The jungle Lee is very strong, and will escape you by just ward-jumping or Q-hopping on camps
-His ganks are stronger than yours.
-Outfarm him or outgank him, your choice.
-You have stronger lategame than him, assuming he doesn't get fed and build glass cannon.

VS

Lissandra

Medium

Top

-Yeah her spells hurt, but compared to other ranged champs she's short-ranged and slow, you can catch up to her and trade damage whilst she doesn't use her W on you.
-DON'T GET BAITED BY HER ULT!
-When you hit 6 hold on to your ult so you can follow her even if she E's away from you.
-Her ult heals her now, so refrain from dumping your most damaging spells until her ult expires.

VS

Malphite

Easy

Top

-Before trying to trade with Malphite, destroy his passive shield first, and don't let it regenerate.
-Play this lane as aggressively as possible; Malphite can only cast Q and E for so long before he runs out of mana early on. That is, until he gets 3024.png or some other mana item.
-Beware of his ult, as he might engage on you if his jungler is nearby. Without his jungler, however, he won't be able to kill you even with his ult, assuming he's not fed already.
He's also dependent on  3025.png and 3110.png to trade enough damage with you, generally speaking.

Jungle

-He struggles with clearing camps. Bully him early in his own jungle if you can.
-He also doesn't usually gank until he gets ult, so make an impact beforehand by ganking hard or taking objectives aka 1st dragon

VS

Maokai

Easy

Top

-This tree is really weak against Shyvana early. Bully him as hard as you can (try and get FB, if possible).
-Once he gets ult, he will be VERY hard to kill and diving him isn't recommended by this time. Don't get baited into diving him under tower with his ult up (common mistake in lower ranks)
-He will become tankier than you and keep his teammates safe with his ult, so you will have to wait for that ult to expire before you can initiate on them.

Jungle

-Really weak in his own jungle early on, you can just literally walk up to his third camp and murder him.
-He will be ganking frequently though, so I suggest you countergank him or counterjungle him, to delay his OP Cinderhulk build.

VS

Master Yi

Easy

Jungle

-Yi will powerfarm Devourer all day long. You both have rapid clearing speeds, and both can duel the other depending on skill, although it's slightly in your favour thanks to your passive.
-Most Yi's often build glass cannon though, which means killing him will be really easy assuming he doesn't a.)crit you for 3000dmg b.)whack you at 2.5AS with Wuju Style on or c.)he's fed to the point of no return.
-Most low-elo Yi's also don't have a good grasp on when they should be using Alpha Strike in the best possible timing (to dodge skillshots, for example). Bait that ability out before you trade.

VS

Nasus

Easy

Top

-One of your easiest matchups, Susan will struggle to stack Siphoning Strike (Q) whilst your in lane with him. All you really need to do is to stand on top of his CS and AA if he chooses to stack. Be mindful though of pushing the wave with Burnout otherwise he will just CS at his tower and you will be preyed upon by their jungler.
-Also the easiest champ to get First Blood on Shyvana, besides Tryndamere. Getting lvl2 (E) 1st gives you an opportunity to reliably kill him if he stays in lane, by E-AA-Q-AA-AA-Ignite.
-He might fight back with his W and E sometimes, but unless your taking free damage from E just continue to play hyper-aggressively against him.
-His ult isn't that strong unless its to bait you. But you must constantly harass him as he will just lifesteal your damage otherwise.

*Respect every Nasus player you fight, because underestimating one might cost you the game, and he might even turn the tables and BEAT YOU if you're careless (learnt this the hard way against a Full-AD Nasus).

VS

Nidalee

Hard

Top

-She will be a real pain in laning phase, first rule in this lane is to DODGE those javelins. One max-range javelin + pounce + takedown and an ignite CAN kill you early. For this, I suggest you start either Doran's Shield or a Ruby Crystal (AP is usually beaten by stacking HP)
-She isn't so scary once you get ult, because by then you can actually chase her even in her ranged form and fight. You will obviously win a melee trade, assuming she hasn't landed javelins at you beforehand.
-She will be placing those traps as makeshift wards. Don't be afraid to step on them, if you have some health to burn. Ofc don't step on them when you're nearly dead.

Jungle

-She will gank heaps, I suggest you do the same.
-However, she needs to land those pesky Q's if she is to make a meaningful gank most of the time. If she misses, then you can go aggressive on her (this also works in top)

VS

Nunu

Hard

Top

-You will not be able to beat him at all stages of the game. From my experience, he excels against you because he will just kite you with Ice Blast for days (which hurts for a lot) and will Consume (W) to heal off all your damage.
-It gets worse with his lvl 6 since you won't be able to run away from him, and his ult's strong enough to 100-0 you if he fully charges it.
-This will be a very hard game for you, if you need to just take CS with E and then back off. There's not a lot you can do against Nunu top besides calling jungler.

Jungle

-It's a lot more manageable in this setup, since you won't have to fight Nunu 1v1 unless he's the counterjungling type.
-If he steals your camps, steal his in return (without dying)
-He has a lot more impact in fights than you, cos CC. Also kill him before he can fully charge up his ult, that does TONS of damage if you don't eliminate him quickly in a teamfight.

VS

Olaf

Medium

Top

-In order not to get Olaf-ed, dodge his axes. It cuts down most of his damage, and you won't receive that pesky slow. If you do get hit by it, then you will be in for a world of hurt, especially during ganks.
-Avoid trading with him while he has that E and W up, he will easily out-trade you if those abilities are up. Especially with E, that -> does true damage.
-Luckily for you, his lvl6 is basically useless in this matchup; you have only 1 unwieldy CC anyways (your ult). Even when his ult is activated, you can still fight him since he also loses his bonus resistances.

Jungle

-He will be getting either Cinderhulk or Devourer. Depending on what he goes for, you should probs gank harder than him, because unlike you, he has a reliable CC to actually gank with pre-6. But nonetheless, he is just the same Olaf as top. Play it smart and he won't be able to do much.
-For both roles, he will always use his ult to dive your backline with impunity. Since CC doesn't affect him, you must kill him ASAP before he can chop up your squishy teammates.

VS

Pantheon

Easy

Top

-The only thing annoying about Pantheon, really, is his passive AA block. Every time you trade with him, always make sure to remove that passive with a regular AA 1st before you use your Q, much like baiting Fiora's Riposte (W).
-Tbh, his early game may be really strong, but only against champions that don't start cloth armor. Taking cloth + 5pots will negate nearly his entire earlygame damage, and he will run out of mana before he can put you to half health.
-He is a very binary champion that falls off very hard when not fed. So this should really just be an easy matchup, but one in which you should still be cautious because of his early aggression.
-However, he will get to places much faster than you with his ult, and can probs run away with it too. There is nothing in your kit that will disable his Grand Skyfall (R) so you must kill him fast.

Jungle

-He ganks a lot, but like all AD Caster/Warrior junglers, he will fall off compared to you. That is, if he doesn't already have double-digit kills.
-If you know how to fight Pantheon as said above, then consider counterjungling/killing him in his own jungle to really set him back. RIP panth :(

VS

Quinn

Hard

Top

-Blinds will STILL be your undoing here, if you eat too many of them.
-Quinn can negate your engage entirely with a well-timed Vault, this will make your life hard, especially if you've been hurt by her passive beforehand.
-Call for ganks, and treat this matchup like Teemo.
-She can run away from you/catch up to you as Valour. Best if you take 6.png again for this one.

p.s^ I have no idea how Birds can fly faster than Dragons :P

Jungle
-Seriously, Quinn is jungler now???
-Anyways, don't trade with her with her Vault (E) up, you will not be able to win while she has that.
-Like Graves. no CC except Blind. She's like a ranged version of you, but without Q or E, she's very easy to kill.
-Unless you have Ghost, don't bother chasing Valour (R)

VS

Rek'Sai

Medium

Top

-She's not seen top play very much (hahaha if u get it) but if you encounter her at top, she will likely play very aggressively.
-It's honestly a skill matchup; one of the most equal fights you will have. However, it also depends on how many lvl1-2 creeps are there on your side before you can engage. If timed right, she should take more damage than you from your own creep wave.
(Tricks of lane/minion control)
-Fight her only if she doesn't have:
a.) full fury bar
b.) you land your Flame Breath (E)
c.) Furious Bite (E) ready.
You will lose to her true damage otherwise.
ps.^ dunno if true dmg is stronger than %-max-health dmg, meh

-Her ult gives her insane global presence, which predictably she will probs use to gank bot or take drag/mid. Ofc, like Pantheon, you can't interrupt it. But again, try killing her fast, or take top turrets if she leaves.

Jungle

-FOTM jungler right now, she is dead-set strong in ganks and objective control. She also has a better late-game than you if you don't manage to get ahead of her pre-30min. Whilst she also builds Warrior Enchantment, she stays relevant as a Tanky Knock-Up Bot (Lee-Sin 2.0)
-Gank as much as you can, outfarming her wouldn't do you any good if she gets fed from any of your lanes.

VS

Renekton

Medium

Top

-The irony is, Renekton can actually function decently in LATEGAME (oh rly?). By that, I mean he still performs his job as an off-tank that peels for his ADC or dives to stun and kill yours, regardless of how fed he is. So really, your role is the reverse of his -> stop his dives or dive their backline.
-He is the King of Early Game for a reason; you won't out-trade him while he has his abilities up. Although...
-...If you save your Burnout (W) for when he dashes at you, and have tagged him with Flame Breath (E) beforehand, you will out-trade his damage, which the Renekton may not realise until he is missing half his HP.
^That's from personal experience, back when I was playing Renekton and I got beat by Shyv in my pre-lvl 30 days.
-His ult is a lifesaver for him, and refrain from igniting and dumping all your damage at him until his ult wears off.

VS

Rengar

Medium

Top

-Rengo is a real pest to play against. Predictably in lower ranks, he will be spamming that Bush Passive all the friggin time. If this is the kind of Rengo that you are up against, then he isn't gonna be hard, trust me.
-Save your abilities for when he jumps on you, so you can shred his HP as soon as he jumps.
-DO NOT FIGHT HIM IF HE HAS 3-5 stacks! You will be hit hard with his double-Q proc if he lands it and you don't anticipate it. Or if he snares you. Or if he heals all your damage whilst killing you. You don't need that from him, so be wary of his Ferocity Bars and his whereabouts on the map.
-PINK WARDS/RED TRINKETS WILL REVEAL HIM AND SAVE YOUR LIFE! Especially when he hits lvl6.

Jungle

-Rengo also very annoying in jungle. He will want to gank, and take kills from his team pretty much all the time, cos he's a greedy fat cat.
-If this is the Rengo you're up against, then counterjungle him. He's not very strong during his pre-Warrior clears because he doesn't have sustain. If you're gutsy enough you can bully him out of his own jungle.

VS

Riven

Hard

Top

-Always start Cloth Armor + 5pots against her. ALWAYS. Start anything else (besides Doran's Shield) and you will get killed by her lvl1 engage/FB.
-The way to manage this matchup is pretty simple, if her skills are on CD, it is the window you need to Attack and Go Agressive on her. Just make sure to back out at least 5sec later, before her Broken Wings (Q) comes back up.
-This lane is technically a skill matchup if you know how to play around Riven's AD Caster playstyle. Autoattackers like Shyvana can beat Riven out in an extended fight, but you won't win while she has her abilities and passive. There are still other ways to fight:
a.) If she expends 2/3 of her Broken Wings (Q), you can go aggressive by activating Burnout 1st, then fire Flame Breath (E) rapidly and AA her. She won't do as much damage as a full triple-Q proc and you will out-damage her by doing this.
b.) If she does not have her stun (W) AND her shield (E), then attack her because she can't stop you from autoattacking and it also means she must trade with Q or lose HP.
-Her ult is exceptionally strong -> DO NOT FIGHT/STAY AROUND WITH LOW HP!
-If she does not score a kill during and after lvl6, then you will gain the upper hand by sheer outscaling, because Riven players almost always HAVE to build damage in order to be useful. It's the epitome of being an assassin; to build damage, but as Shyvana, you can just complete armor items and survive Riven's burst, whilst being able to kill her because of your mixed damage output.
-She excels at cleaning up teamfights, where your teammates are all low on health. Like all assassins, your job will be to protect the squishies from them by using Dragon's Descent (R) on Riven, then use 3153.png  active on her, then AA her till she dies. Pretty much this is all you need to keep in mind against Riven in games.
She's ultimately not that hard an opponent as she looks, especially in lower ranks.

VS

Rumble

Hard

Top

-Start Doran's Shield or Ruby Crystal. Stack MR, of any kind 3102.png , 3065.png.
-He will zone you from CS with his Flamethrower (Q) but he'll also push his own wave hard if he spams this ability. Like Riven, land some damage on him if he doesn't have his Scrap Shield (W) or Flamethrower up.
-He may save his harpoons (E) to kite you and setup his own jungler. Respect this ability while he has it. Without it, Rumble is a slow, easy snack.
-He has one of the most annoying ults because he will just zone you even more with it, or use it to pressure other lanes from the safety of the river. Do not fight him with his ult up, unless you've already completed a MR item beforehand.

VS

Ryze

Medium

Top

-Ryze is highly underplayed at Bronze and Silver, so my comments about him are very limited, sorry :P

-But from previous experience, he is just plain annoying to fight. For as long as he has mana, he will non-stop spam Q's, snares, and those bouncing orbs at you till you die.
-Your best window of dominating him is early game. He cannot sustain his spam war against you for long, so just be patient, aim to last-hit as much as possible until he runs out of kerosene aka mana.
-Don't bother killing him with his ult up. Committing to a hard engage against him will be for nothing, unless he's already on low health, since he will spellvamp the crap out of you.
-Stack MR and start Doran's shield.

VS

Shaco

Medium

Top

-Shaco is weak at top, and I mean weak. No matter what skill he starts, you will out-damage him at lvl 1 with Burnout (W) on. I can testify to this, having played against him, and winning, in a Bronze V game.
-He may hide his Jack-in-the-Box turrets in the bushes, as a ward and as a Teemo ambush device. While you can't avoid the fear CC, you can destroy it in Q + AA. This removes his only means of waveclear and zoning tool (until he gets Ravenous Hydra).
-Bring the pink wards and the red trinkets out once he gets his ult. Deny him the chance to go invis -> split into decoy by getting these items. Even better if you can get these items on first back.

Jungle

-He's a real pain-in-the-rear-end jungler. You can tell he is going to be farming your teammates by taking 14.png + 11.png.
-Beware his lvl2 ganks. You must be extremely watchful of these kinds of Shaco, because his early FB will set your team back very hard, it will be nearly impossible to come back from a fed Demon Jester.
-He may also spam toxic statements in all-chat to demoralise your team, since he is practically Joker (u know, THAT Joker).
-Tip for jungler Shaco is simple, avoid him from scoring kills as long as he can, and if this means counterganking him, then do so.

VS

Shen

Easy

Top

-You must dominate and kill him early, before he becomes unkillable later on. From lvl1 onwards, you must aim to score a kill or a huge CS lead against him.
-You have the early game damage necessary to punch through his Feint (W) and whack him hard. But he can return the damage thanks to his passive, and the sustain from Vorpal Blade (Q). Lvl1 should really be your best chance to kill him, before he gets these abilities.
-Most Shen's save their taunts (E) for jungler setup. You should be wary of this when fighting him, as the taunt lasts quite a long time.
-He becomes a global presence, and a real threat, by the time he gets Stand United (R). You cannot prevent his ultimate without CC, so like Pantheon and Rek'sai YOU  MUST KILL HIM FAST.
-He is a pain in teamfights because he will always soak up your team's damage while protecting his carry 24/7. There is not much you can do against his taunt, except to get a 3102.png and more MR.

New Shen is harder thanks to his Dodge ability with (W) and does some crazy damage with (Q) (Flying Sword). Anyways, he's not that hard to kill still, so as long as you remember these tips:
-Don't fight him while he has a shield from his passive
-Don't fight him whilst he has an aura around his sword (it's the dodge)
-If you get hit with the sword, prepare to fight, since you're slowed if you try running AWAY from Shen. You're a tanky dragon, you'd survive a bit of Shen's damage anyways.

VS

Singed

Easy

Top

-DON'T CHASE! It is crucial that, when fighting Singed, you must be aware of how long he can keep up his poison cloud. You will end up dead if he flips you and smothers you with that gas -> "dragon is suffocating" :P
-It will be a farm lane no matter how you play this game, he is far too tanky for you to kill, even at lvl1 since he will zone you with poison cloud.
-He has a greater utility to his team than you when it comes to diving, but he can't do any real damage on his own, so in this instance you're better than him, and most likely you will be peeling for your allies. So ult Singed back in a teamfight, and try to get him off your team with any means necessary. But don't bother killing him until the end.
-DON'T GET FLIPPED INTO HIS TURRET! Especially if he has Mega-Adhesive to snare you right afterwards.

VS

Sion

Easy

Top

-He is actually a skill matchup imo, but most Sion players you will encounter are easy to beat, as long as he doesn't land a fully-charged Decimating Smash (Q) at you.
This skill is the most important skill you will need to watch out for, because if he hits you with it during early-game, it will hurt you badly (and you will automatically lose trade). Always be ready to dodge this ability, although you may not be able to do this if he only half-charges it to slow you.
-Avoid his Roar of the Slayer (E) poke as much as you can. It will shred your armor and you will not have a good time. While this ability is down, it is the best window to trade against him, since he can't slow you down besides Q.
-His W is a game-changing ability, and it hurts quite hard if he can detonate it. If you can, refrain from fighting him with Soul Furnace (W) up and just wait out the timer for it, whilst keeping your distance away from the detonation range of W.
-The key to winning against Sion relies on your positioning. It is best if you can hit him with Flame Breath (E) but also be able to dodge Q and E.
-He transforms into a truck at lvl 6. He becomes hard to steer, but also hits as hard as one. Again, avoiding this skill is important if you don't want to get chain-CC'ed by Sion and his jungler, which will usually result in you being dead.
*Rito, pls make that Trucker Sion skin already :(

Jungle

-Depending on how ahead he is, he may choose to build either Warrior or Cinderhulk Enchantment on his 3706.png or 3713.png. If he builds Warrior, then he will be lacking durability in teamfights. You can shred him ez. Or if he builds Cinderhulk, he will be unkillable.
-With every Sion, you must always be ready to peel for your teammates whenever he is around. As a gigantic HP sponge, and a walking (and truck ulting) CC machine, you must strive to keep him away from using his Decimating Smash (Q) because the knockup from those abilities are hard initiations, which will leave you all vulnerable to the rest of his team.

VS

Talon

Easy

Top

-I shouldn't even be including Talon in top lane matchups, but if you do encounter him...
...He is quite ez to kill. He cannot survive your damage but you can.
-He will be taking and maxing Rake (W) to zone you, but he will run out of mana doing so. Abuse the times when he doesn't have that ability up, because he doesn't have that much CC on his kit.
-His all-in combo isn't that strong on you, because of OP dragon passive. I'm not saying to underestimate it, but as long as he isn't fed he won't be able to kill you without help.
-BRING THE RED TRINKETS AND THE PINK WARDS AT LVL6! If anything, he will probs use his ult to run away from you most of the time (often happens when he's nearly dead from fighting OP Dragon -> you).

VS

Teemo

Hard

Top

-Possibly your hardest matchup besides Vladimir and Vayne at top lane, Teemo's kit will ruin your entire game, if you don't end up ahead of him somehow.
-This "somehow" is only possible if your jungler can gank your lane frequently aka camp Teemo. Just don't feed him a double kill.
-Consider getting 3102.png or, if you really need to cleanse the blind, 3140.png. Upgrade QSS into 3139.png only late in the game for the extra 80 AD.
-He can outrun you, kite you, blind you and tops it all off with zoning you via mushrooms and passive invisibility. Seriously, regardless of Teemo's score or build, you must build accordingly to counter his damage, be it AP or AD.
-He is however, very squishy. If you catch him out without his Poison Dart (Q) in a mushroom-free area, you can easily kill him. *This is only an opportunistic tip; you will still have a hard time against 17.png gg ff at 20.

VS

Trundle

Hard

Top

-Don't have much experience against Trundle at top, but anyways
-As a tankbusting tank, Trundle has the means to make you useless in pretty much any game. His Chomp and Ice Pillar will ruin your initiation any day, and his Subjugate ult will destroy you and make him tanky enough to kill you.
This is Trundle's job; to make your life hell as a tank. The only hope you will have against Trundle is jungler assistance or kiting him with your ADC.

Jungle

-Even harder than top, from what I heard, but again I don't have much experience against 48.png.
-He will probs build either Cinderhulk or Devourer. He has a similar jungling style to you -> rapid clears, slightly better ganks and a tendency to counterjungle your camps hard. Also you can't fight him in a straight duel, so ask your laners for help if he invades.

VS

Tryndamere

Easy

Top

-He may be the Crit King but 23.png and 75.png are your easiest matchups. Especially with Trynd, he needs Fury to trade crits against you, and they won't hurt as badly as you think thanks to your passive. He must build some armor pen to actually kill you -> 3142.png.
-Without Fury, he cannot fight you. Matter of fact, being so reliant on crits from his Fury, you can kill him at lvl1 while he has 0 Fury simply by autoattacking with Burnout (W) on. Whatever Fury he built up, he will be forced to use it as heal with Bloodlust (Q) which means again you can straight up murder him. Enjoy abusing the Crit King pre-6.
-Even when he gets Undying Rage (R) all you really need to do is to wait out the timer on that ult, and when it wears off, kill him.
-He may have a strong slow, and a gapcloser to chase/run but take 6.png and he won't be able to escape. If he uses Spinning Slash through terrain, use your Dragon's Descent likewise.
-He does get dangerous with items, and 100% of the time will try to splitpush and backdoor your base. Since you are much stronger than him, you can easily stop his attempts and abuse your superior waveclear with Burnout (W), denying him the opportunity to push the sidelanes. It is only when he gets 2-3 crit items 3087.png that he can finally duel you and win against you, but by that time, you should've already won the game or demolished half their teammates/base.

Jungle

-Predictably, nearly all Trynd players will powerfarm aka afkfarm jungle all day, cos Devourer. His ganks are only slightly better than yours due to his situational slow from Mocking Shout (W), but you can out-farm him and gank harder than him anyways.
-Providing he doesn't have ult or Fury, you can kill him in his own jungle. This also means he is very easy to counterjungle as well, but he does have very fast clears like you do.

-Randuin's Omen will really screw up his game, because the AS reduction and the activational slow makes him very, very useless. It is OP item against him 3143.png.

VS

Udyr

Easy

Top

-He is a dangerous opponent to duel, but he runs on kerosene unlike you, you're a hybrid hahaha :)
-Don't fight him if he is using either Phoenix (R) or Tiger (Q) Stance to fight, he will out-damage you, but he will also push the wave leaving him vulnerable to your jungler.
-You can murder him if he uses Bear or Turtle Stance because your damage will be higher than his, and his tankiness from Turtle Stance is not as effective against you Flame Breath+AA's.
-Don't bother chasing this champ if you don't have 6.png or 1304.png because he will just escape away whenever he's almost dead.

Jungle

-He is more dangerous in the jungle, because he is very flexible. He can opt to powerfarm his jungle, or counterjungle you hard, or gank like there's no tomorrow.
-As a Devourer jungler, he scales as hard as you, if not better. Also he has superior waveclear and tower sieging to you, as far as I remember, since he can spam his spells for the MS/AS.
-Unlike top 77.png you will not want to fight him in jungle. He is stronger than you in a prolonged duel, and he will have his buffs to sustain himself. If you can steal his buffs, then you can deny him experience, which is crucial for you as a jungler. With better objective control, you can shut Udyr down before he gets unstoppable lategame.

VS

Urgot

Hard

Top

-Urgot, like Gnar, is a pesky matchup because:
a.) tanky
b.) ranged
-Your best bet in this matchup is to last-hit with E and wait patiently for jungler assistance. You can't afford to get an E to your face, otherwise he will just infinitely spam his Q's on you.
-Never commit to Urgot in a full fight. If possible aim for the real ADC, at least the softer one e.g. 104.png > 6.png
-His W and his 15% reduced damage passive is the reason you do not want to be fighting him. It only gets worse when he hits lvl 6.
-Beware of straying too close to his turret or the bush. If he suppresses you, you will die to turret aggro, their jungler, or Urgot himself.
-Overall, its a really hard matchup. Start 1054.png or 1029.png and play this lane passively OR roam if its safe to do so.

VS

Vayne

Hard

Top

-Right next to 17.png this champion67.png (which should be in bot lane anyways, not top) is probs your hardest matchup. Her Silver Bolts (W) will pierce through your passive resistances AND your healthbar. She has the kit that can nullify your only gapcloser (R) and make your life very difficult.
-Besides jungler ganks, there are a few things to remember about Vayne:
1.) She has less than 550 range, that's well within the range of 3143.png active, 3153.png active and your Flame Breath (E). This will benefit you greatly, since she is actually easy to reach/kill if she is slowed.
2.) Her W is definitely scary, but her primary damage is still AD- based through AA's. Buying Randuin's Omen and/or Thornmail + another AS reduction item w/ health is enough to mitigate this over-rated ability.
3.) DON'T FORGET PINK WARDS AND RED TRINKETS! to reveal her in her OP stealth mode.
4.) DON'T STICK NEAR WALLS!
5.) Attack her when Tumble is down, since it's practically her only "dodge" ability. This is also how you can gauge a skilled Vayne from an unskilled Vayne.
-With these five things in mind, start 1054.png. This will soften her damage early on, and will allow you to actually trade back against her.
-Arguably, she is actually not as hard as the matchup says. Vayne top is rare for a reason; the enemy team will be lacking in the tanky department, and so having a squishy top-laner isn't very helpful to winning games. She may win lane, but as long as she hasn't gotten her core items in lategame, it shouldn't translate into a loss for you.

VS

Vladimir

Hard

Top

-He's right up there with 67.png and 17.png as your hardest matchups. You must absolutely commit to decimating him earlygame, before he gets an AP sustain item 3146.png and becomes unkillable. Fed/Lategame Vladimir is the stuff of horror movie nightmares; there is literally nothing your team can do against a mega-healing 8.png that relies on healing himself BY killing y'all.
-Lvl 1-3 is your best shot at killing him, before he can get his trollpool ability and Tides of Blood (E). His Transfusion (Q) will cost him a lot of health during this time, and the more damage you dump on him, the more he has to use Q, which means he's effectively killing himself.
-Trollpool is literally as the name suggests. Refrain from using ult or you other damaging abilities whilst this ability persists.
-As another annoying ranged tank, Vlad has all the means to zone you out from CS. Again, if you are unable to fight Vlad at all, then just play it safe BUT NOT PASSIVELY. You must still try and apply some pressure/damage on him because a 400CS Vlad is just as scary, if not scarier, as a 13/0/0 Vlad. (This goes with all matchups btw)
-Take 14.png to counter his early sustain and start 1054.png against his Q, which most Vlad's will be taking 1st.
-His ult isn't nearly as terrifying as the rest of his kit. Sure, it does DoT damage that amplifies all damage to those affected, but it's rather underwhelming to use on a single target, and he will only likely use that ult against multiple opponents. Try and avoid your teammates if you are tagged with this, to avoid killing them.

VS

Volibear

Medium

Top

-He has the upper hand in a fair trade against you. He has higher base damages, has an actual CC (slow on his E), has an execute based on his maximum health (W) and an annoying passive which this rule applies: DO NOT IGNITE A 106.png WITH HIS PASSIVE UP!
-Anyways, this will be either a farm lane or an even-trading lane. You can harass him with Flame Breath (E) but you need to be careful of getting a Rolling Thunder (his Q) flip into his turret, which like Singed and Udyr, will kill you.
-His ult is deceptively strong and can melt your team in a teamfight if left unchecked. Don't stand too close together and its probs better to wait out the ability before resuming your attack on him.
-He will eventually become too tanky to kill, but you will be the same to him, so this matchup is truly a matchup based on skill.

Jungle

-He may either get Cinderhulk or Devourer. Both are strong items on Carrybear, so to keep him from being strong at all is to deny him experience. In this case, you can either gank harder than him or countergank him.
-Either way, he is an efficient jungler since he can clear camps fast, wins duels and provides mediocre ganking potential. You are lacking in the CC department, but definitely stronger in the other two areas. If anything, taking Exhaust will remove his chasing with Q, which should make life easier for your team.

VS

Warwick

Easy

Jungle

-Wolfman will win in an extended duel against you due to his insane lifesteal, both from passive and from items. You must keep this in mind, no matter how ahead or behind you may be.
-His Achilles Heel is glaringly obvious, he can't properly gank without Infinite Duress (R). What you do before he hits lvl6 is crucial and may decide the fate of your game. In this case, gank. Gank a lot. And I mean, camp a lane if you have to. Wolfman cannot initiate a countergank before lvl6 so he must powerfarm his jungle. You must make more impact on your teammates before he gets that supress.
-For the above reason, counterjungling him is a bad idea. He clears camps really fast and without losing too much health, definitely not to your benefit.
-Devourer RedsmiteWick is still a problematic champion to fight during midgame. If possible try not to get hit a lot by WarWick, because he stacks on-hit items, and they WILL hurt you a lot.

VS

Wukong

Easy

Top

-OP Monkey is somewhat weak against you. I say this because he is mana-reliant, he is an AD Caster and his earlygame isn't as strong as yours. A Lvl 1 Burnout (W) will do more damage than either his Nimbus Strike (E) or his Crushing Blow (Q). Your passive is also stronger than his, cos he needs the entire enemy team to surpass your resistances.
-Rant aside, bully him early and deny him any chance to snowball in lane. Save your Twin Bite (Q) after he uses Decoy (W).
-He will start to get stronger when he gets his ult. Don't underestimate it; it's not so much the damage that hurts but more the AoE knockup that he can bring on your team. Your ult also does a similar role, so in a fair fight, feel free to use it against him.
-Your role in teamfights is pretty simple. Before he can use Cyclone (R) on your team, keep him away from your team using whatever abilities you can like Dragon's Descent (R) into 3153.png active. This should keep him away long enough in a fight to nullify his engage.

Jungle

-Wukong ganks better than you, and has a better teamfighting presence than you. Only catch is, he need to get to lvl 6 to actually initiate a good gank, since his CC is locked up in his ult.
-Since this is the case, you got two options: outfarm him or gank harder. You may not have CC but you can still bully the lanes just by picking up 3706.png and 3.png. He needs to build the same if he wants to ganke pre-6.
-Same role applies to you in a clustered fight; you are the peeler for your damage dealers and they can't deal damage with a spinning Monkey, so KEEP HIM OFF YOUR TEAM!

VS

Xin Zhao

Medium

Top

-Like Voli, he has higher base damages so you won't win an early engage (notice I said engage, not trade. Engage:all in
whilst trade:attack in-and-out intermittently)
-Before attempting to trade against him, make sure his Three Talon Strike (Q) is down, especially the third proc. That knockup is the last thing you'll want in a fight, so don't get in range for him to dash + third Q knockup as well.
-He has a means of sustain with W while you don't. Always keep this in mind before going aggressive on him.

Jungle

-He is sincerely an annoying jungler. He has the option of ganking hard, stacking devourer or fighting you in your own jungle.
-In order to stay relevant to your team, you must always be ready to countergank or take his camps if he's missing. He scales harder than you, so you can't afford to fall behind, both in CS and in kills.

VS

Yasuo

Medium

Top

-Just like Talon, Yasuo does not belong in top. Make him learn it the hard way, he is ez to kill, at least in the early game. The only way he will win this matchup IN LANE is if he lands too many Steel Tempests (Q) on you.
-Land a Flame Breath (E) on him to remove his passive shield, then whack him with your other abilities + AA's. He can't handle your damage, especially when he has to build glass cannon to do damage. Even then, your too tanky for him to kill, providing he doesn't land an ult on you.
-However, do not underestimate him too much. He DOES have a stronger lategame than you, if you let him get to that point. I learnt this the hard way against a 50min 15/10 yasuo and he will kill your entire team. Just from general advise, he's a bigger pain than Talon for your team so ultimately you and your team must SECURE AN EARLY WIN.

VS

Yorick

Hard

Top

-To this day, there is literally no counter to Yorick. Not much you can do in this matchup besides call for jungler assistance.
-However there is a little trick to his ghoul spam. YOU CAN LOSE GHOUL AGGRO BY HIDING IN THE BUSH. This can probs save your life, but it won't really help you in killing him. You're going to need that 2v1 adavantage against him, since he can just use his "Lifesteal Ghoul" (forgot the name, pls dont hate) to sustain through your entire damage.
-This matchup is unforgiving in that you can't really last-hit without resorting to Flame Breath (E). It gets worse at lvl6 when he can ult himself to bait you out even if you put him at low health. Seriously, consider a lane change if possible, perhaps your midlaner may have an easier time against 83.png if they're ranged and have equal sustain as him.

VS

Zac

Medium

Top

-He doesn't go top that much, but he can outsustain your damage IF HE PICKS UP HIS BLOBS. Don't let him pick up those blobs, otherwise your harass will be for nothing.
-He has a killer engage with Elastic Slingshot (E) + his ult + and his W. Try and avoid this if you can.
-Besides this, you do hit harder than him. If he doesn't have his abilities, whack him. Also his earlygame health cost on his abilities are very high, and he will be killing himself if he spams them. Abuse this against him.

Jungle

-He's an ok-to-good jungler, depending on how often, and how successfully, he ganks. He is designed to split your team up and be a massive CC pain. You should either be outfarming him or ganking harder than him.
-Don't let him get powerful with an early Cinderhulk. He will get VERY strong with this item and you will have a hard time duelling him. I suggest playing the bodyguard for your team and just push him away with ult. This is especially effective if you can time it with his Elastic Slingshot engage, to negate his OP engage. (It's right up there with 113.png Glacial Prison (R) for Most OP engage)

VS

Zed

Medium

Top

-Compared to the other assassin matchups (157.png,91.png,84.png) Faker -> 238.png is harder than most (probs as hard as Yasuo). He can juke your harass (his W) and has a safer laning phase. He can just opt to use his shurikens (Q) for last-hitting and still stay strong in a fight thanks to Shadow Slash (E).
-It's still easy matchup for you as tanky bruisers beat assassins. He will need armor pen to shred through your tankiness, unless you've fed him.
-His Death Mark is deceptively strong even against tanks like you, but only if he can land all his abilities. Dodge his skillshots and stick to him with Burnout (W) on, and you will win the matchup, plain and simple.
-Your role in teamfights in simple, peel for your allies and keep Zed off using your Dragon's Descent (R) and 3153.png active. Same story for most other assassins.

Build Order of the Dragonlady Back to Top

1. Start with either 1055.png or 1054.png for laning or 1041.png for jungling.

2. If ahead in match, purchase 1026.png for building towards 3124.png. But don't complete the item yet.
If behind, get 1031.png or 1033.png instead.
3. Build towards the components for 3748.png and finish this item off first, so you can survive while dealing decent damage.
4. Get Boots! 1001.png (and if you can, complete them).
5. Then complete 3124.png. That's all for Shyvana's offensive items (unless very ahead).
6. Finish off an armor item if against AD 3068.png,3143.png,3742.png.
Or finish off magic resist item if against AP3065.png.
7. Decide on a 6th item based on how well the game is going for your team (or if losing bad) then get either 3022.png for the former and 3026.png for the latter.

Pros/Cons of the Dragonlady Back to Top

Pros

-Tanky and does tons of damage :) :) :) TONS OF DAMAGE!
-Can carry most solo games thanks to her insane waveclear, turret-sieging and crazy attack speed.
-Flexible builds for a bruiser-oriented, damage-oriented or tank-oriented Dragon
-Very hard to fight 1v1 and as a result, she wins most top lane matchups due to her raw stats. Honestly you can win some matchups just by AA'ing them to death at Lvl 1, no kidding.

Cons

-Ez to kite. I mean it, it's probs her biggest weakness. Without your ult up, you have no way to get into melee range to whack those pesky ADC's 67.png 22.png 429.png
-Has no reliable CC. Her ult is admittedly "situational" and it's effectiveness depends on whether shyvanatransformcast.png (R) can actually knock back your opponents (or miss them entirely)
-LONG STORY SHORT, YOU CAN'T ACTUALLY PEEL FOR YOUR ADC (means your team's going to need another hard CC tank/bruiser support or jungler). You're there to dive and deal damage to THEIR ADC and other soft targets.
-Has no innate health regen/lifesteal. You gotta buy these through runes, masteries or items. This weakness will be exposed against matchups which will heal back your damage 8.png 86.png 83.png 122.pngwhilst you will still be at low HP from a trade.
-She has a decent lategame, but she's outscaled by so many matchups like 14.png or 75.png. They will demolish you if they get to that stage. They may also ignore you cos u have no CC or stomp you cos they can out-tank you by then.
-Aurelion Sol is annoying to lane against, he's a crazy dragon too 136.png.

Skill-Combo of the Dragonlady Back to Top

Shyvana doesn't really have a combo per se, but it helps to know how you can maximise your damage against any opponent.

This combo is probably the most common Shyvana combo:

E-W-AA-Q-AA

shyvanafireball.png -> shyvanaimmolationaura.png -> AA -> shyvanadoubleattack.png -> AA
This "combo" isn't really a combo, but if you use your abilities in this order, you can hit harder than your opponents expect from Shyvana. Against a squishy champion, this will probs shave off 3/4 of their HP at least.

If you have a Blade of the Ruined King, and your ultimate as well, then this should be the general Dragon Combo

R-BotRK Active-E-W-AA-Q-AA

shyvanatransformcast.png -> 3153.png -> shyvanafireball.png -> shyvanaimmolationaura.png -> AA -> shyvanadoubleattack.png -> AA
This combo is extremely strong against all enemies, even if they're tanky. As I have said before, Shyvana's bread-and-butter ability (W) and (E) are effective killing tools, even against high-HP tanks. Your Flame Breath deals 2.5% of the max health of anything it hits, so if you can hit that skillshot, then your damage with Burnout's on-hit damage spikes hard. I mean it, you might be able to BURST a squishy down with that combo, if you can get in their face to punch them.

Speaking of punching, you are a melee champion. To maximise the damage and duration on W, only turn Burnout on once you get in melee range because the MS will be wasted - if you use it only to gapclose, and not damage anything. Similarly, DON'T USE W BEFORE USING YOUR ULT.

Synergising with the Dragonlady Back to Top

Champions that I'll be listing below are classified into Best, Ok I Guess and the Rest :)

Best

412.png - He does Everything! He can peel, engage, disengage, an escape/gapcloser in his lantern (W) and has enough CC (R and E) to lockdown entire teams. A Shyvana and Thresh combo is seriously powerful; whomever he lands Death Sentence (Q) will usually be CC'ed long enough for you to kill them.
1.png - The AoE stun and mega-burst Annie provides is already very impressive by herself. But pairing a dragon and a pyromaniac together is even better; both will be melting entire enemy teams in no time! (get it) She's also as durable as you, because most Annie's will build somewhat off-tank 3027.png,3001.png and both of you thrives best in an all-in situation anyways.
113.png - Again, another champion with AoE stun synergises very well with your kit. She has a stronger initiation than you (especially with 3800.png), so let her charge first "into the fray", and then unleash your own Dragon's Descent (R). This is usually enough to dismember entire groups of enemies, and allow for you and your carries to dish out the pain.
111.png - Huge CC tank, he's a huge pain with his immense lockdown potential. He solves Shyvana's problems of not having solid CC and initiation, so just like Sejuani, let him do the tanking and charging first. You will supply the damage that he lacks, and together you can pick anybody off or again, dismember grouped up enemies.
32.png - Forgot to add this little pain-in-the-rear-end jungler. His ultimate practically "entangles" (it's actually a pseudo-stun) for at least 2 seconds. Even without that, he has a bandage that snares, omg so OP. Seriously one of the best junglers to pair with Shyvana, period.

Still good (but not AS good)

103.png - You will need to protect her because she's squishy, but other than that she's good. She's a mobile glass cannon with Tons of damage and good CC with Charm. You can capitalise on her CC when she lands it (getting charmed is literally the worst pain in the world), plus both of you can assassinate anyone, even tanks.
22.png - Slows OP, also has a mega-long stun duration on ult. She's a good marksman to play alongside, and as long as she's alive she can bring massive utility and slowing AA's (dat's if she STAYS ALIVE, Keep it dat way). This should solve your problem of not being able to stick to enemies. And if she lands that stun, you've got at least a second or two to freely AA enemies to death.
89.png - Leona is a strong pick, but she's mostly consigned to being an all-in CC tank. It may be a good thing, but compared to Naut or Thresh's kit, she doesn't have the means to disengage a fight (and she has a hard time against a good 40.png btw). She's best paired with Shyvana if both of you can immobilise their carry, but besides that she will be mostly peeling and protecting your marksman.
245.png - I would have thought Shyvana + Ekko was a strong asf wombo combo, since he too has a 2 second stun like Amumu. Problem is, he needs to set up that stun field for like 3 seconds, fml. He builds tanky, though so protecting him won't be necessary. He is good champion to play alongside, providing you both know when's the right time to use your ultimates.

The Rest

67.png - A nightmare to play against but a thrill to play alongside, especially if it's a good Vayne. While she's already deadly on her own, pairing up with her (as a peeling tank) makes her a very huge threat to the enemy team. %HP true damage is OP if she can stay alive to deliver it, so if you can keep enemies away from her then its GG for the enemy team. However, she is very squishy, and if you both get caught out...
429.png - She is really deadly as a mobile marksman, and she has some insane damage and waveclearing with this item 3085.png. But really, it's her ult that makes her fun to play alongside. If you are her Oathsworn ally, then you can expect a solid initiation with Fate's Call (her R) + Dragon's Descent (your R), to rip entire teams apart. Just make sure she survives in a fight; she's your team's carry after all.
117.png - Pairing up with Lulu is a strong-yet-underrated combo. To me, she functions like a support-ish version of Annie, because she has strong AP damages and solid, unique CC with Polymorph and heavy slows. A good combo can be achieved by her ulting you -> a second or less after you have already ulted, so you can apply a second knockup after your initial knockback and survive better in a teamfight. It's a bit hard to explain, but if both of you can pull off this combo, it will be very hard for the enemy to kill you, and the resulting AoE knockup will benefit your own team greatly (this guy157.png for example. or these two 62.png,59.png).
203.png - *Kindred seems like a good champion to pair up with Shyvana. You can push enemies who try to flee from her ult using your own dragon ult, which would lead to them getting kited by Kindred to death in her home turf, or you can push them away from her ult before it activates the heal, in which case you'll probably win the teamfight. So yeah, she's situationally useful, but she faces stiff competition against better junglers such as 111.png and jungle 104.png (Graves is a jungler now wtf???)

p.s. yeah i know, Annie's also a support :P

Abusing the OP Dragon in Low-Elo Back to Top

Hello guys! For those who may be wondering why Shyvana is seriously a strong champion for low-elo, well there's a couple of reasons for that. But first... gotta show you just how insanely powerful Shyvana is, when played best:

14-0-0 Shyv Edited.jpg
Shyv is what can be considered a "Melee Carry". Much like other melee carries 11.png and 5.png, DragonLady is a deadly champion at pretty much all stages of the game. She still has the potential to score a win for the team by splitpushing and initiating at the right time with her ult. As a Melee Carry, she relies on autoattacks, hence she is also an AA bruiser. This means that she's usually built with defensive items whilst outputting some crazy DPS.

One thing to note about AA bruisers is that they scale, and perform, far better than AD Caster Bruisers in terms of duelling. I say this because you will be able to provide constant damage with your AA's as opposed to relying on abilities that are limited by cooldowns. This is a nifty advantage to all autoattackers and Shyvana is no different.

Also take my word for it, low-elo soloqueue won't know how to deal with Shyv, especially not at top. I abuse this against most of my opponents; they underestimate Shyv top and before they know it, they lose HARD. Even if you're behind in a match, you can easily comeback because your damage is still strong (for 102.png has high bases and some good AD/AP scalings).

Your Twin Bite (Q) is a strong tool to amplify your DPS potential, as it RESETS THE AA TIMER. If you can abuse this mechanic, then you can land at least 3 AA's in less than 1sec. Abuse this against everything you can punch with your oversized dragon gloves; be it champions, Dragon, Baron, monsters or turrets. Combining this with Burnout (W) and Flame Breath (E) and you will be melting them in no time flat.

There's nothing more painful to the enemy team than seeing a fed dragon cleaving their entire team from the ADC all the way to the tank. You can practically fight anyone in the game with certain exceptions, and that is more than enough reason to spam-play her, despite the drawbacks of not having proper CC. So if you're willing to play DragonLady, then by all means GO AGGRESSIVE. FIGHT AGGRESSIVELY. YOU ARE A DRAGON, GO BURN EM' ALL!

One more thing. Shyvana is a very straightforward point-and-click champion, with only one simple (linear) skillshot. Learning her isn't going to be difficult besides practicing her skillset, positioning and gauiging how much damage she can put out. She may not have uber-flashy mechanics like Lee Sin, but she gets the job done. And in Bronze and Silver, this simple, easy-to-play-and-spam champion has everything you need to win those games and start climbing!

Thank You for flying with Dragon-Air! Back to Top

Yeah I may be a low-elo bronze player (originally Silver V but dropped because well, I still suck and lack the skill/mechanics), but I have been playing Shyvana as my main for quite some time now (im lvl5 mastery on her, still some hard matchups doe). She is honestly a reliable melee carry in soloqueue, despite what others say, because she's a FREAKING AWESOME DRAGON! and her kit is hard to itemise against. Shyv's biggest strength imo, is that you are damage and tank rolled into one (smash them whilst being durable). Maybe I'll have better luck next season.

So yeah, just leave a comment if you can offer any suggestions on this guide that I can improve and update better!

OVERHAULED THE GUIDE (sort of) YAY!!! Hope you all enjoy it!
