Summoner Spells Back to Top

Flash and teleport are usually the main spells i use when it comes to sion so you have the ability to roam and gank other lanes when needed, especially if you have ZZ'rot and Deadmans Plate, then you become more of a ganker than your own jungler.


Flash to chase someone (Although your ult does that for you) and make flashy plays, or escape over a wall after a disengage.

Teleport to go back to lane after you die so you don't fall behind or to teleport to other lanes when the jungler is ganking them.

Ignite against healing champions such as 36.png and 8.png (Although someone on your team should bring ignite, usually mid lane)

Masteries Back to Top

These masteries are the strongest for Sion, Grasp of the undying makes you incredibly strong late game as a tank, you do TONS of damage when it procs and you have almost infinite sustain in lane.


I like to use natural talent over vampirism because most of your spells are AOE and don't really utilize the spellvamp that well, and you never truly build lifesteal on Sion unless you're going FULL AD, and natural talent helps your damage get stronger since you have both ap and ad skills.

Unyielding for that extra umpf in armor and magic resist 

Legendary Guardian for that late game team fight Raid Boss Status

And insight so you can flash and teleport more

Your passive makes you reincarnate and come back for a short period of time while having your health drop over a period of time. You then do 10% of targets maximum health as damage each hit and can hit any of the cast buttons (qwer) for a short burst of speed that decays over 1.5 seconds

Your Q is an ENORMOUS damage skill, scaling up to 300% at max charge. This ability is AMAZING to level if you are full ad sion as its damage is HUGE, I'm surprised riot hasnt nerfed this, but its understandable why they havent because most sion players don't abuse AD Sion and it's hard to get a full charge off.

Your W is like old Sions W except it scales off your max health and 40%  of your AP instead of just AP
And when you pop the shield it does this amount of damage. It's a great skill to level second since it gains damage and allows you to be tankier. The cooldown does not decrease anytime you level the skill so be careful and time using it just right to make the most of this spell.

We no longer max E first because of the nerf, If you are against you can safely farm and harass, cancerous champions (I'm looking at you17.png) You can still max E and start Dorans ring. It will make your slow stronger each level for jungle ganks, or when you gank other lanes. it's also a nice shred for the opponents armor. This spell and the Ultimate is what makes a good Sion from a bad sion.

Hooooooooly Crap, All abooooooard the Hype Train! This ult is AMAZING if you can set it up right, charging down the lane and running directly into your oponents. You can't be CC'd during it (Azir ult, J4 Ult, Anivia wall and Trundle pillar can block your ult because they are a form of terrain) so if you make a lane waste flash and they have no dashes chances are theyre incredibly boned. Charge your W before your ult connects so you can explode your W as you hit the enemy dealing twice as much damage than you normally would. I normally ult down a lane or through river depending on what way i'm wanting to gank from. Careful when using your ultimate if the enemy team has a ZZrot as it can actually bounce you away from a fight and change trajectory if placed infront of you while ulting.

Starting Items

    Dorans ring for mana regen and poke with your E and potions to sustain in lane
    This start is good if you abuse your early damage
    This start is AMAZING vs people who auto attack or poke you alot with spells. You can have good trades and can even cs vs ranged people like Graves or Pantheon. Always abuse your passive to get an early level in lane by dying to wolves or wraiths and buying two extra potions (Ask Jungler if its okay ofcourse!)

Core Items

    ALWAYS RUSH ZZ'ROT. These two items will allow you to be fast enough to roam to other lanes and chase enemies down, even with teleport and your ultimate down you still have crazy roam power. Place the ZZ'rot in your lane and then begin to roam and help other lanes out. (Usually mid or top but sion can support too!) Frozen mallet is AMAZING because it even works when you're in your passive form, OP for chasing.
    This is a balanced build if you're against a team with AD and Magic Damage
    This build works SUPER well against a HEAVY AP Team, you can change abyssal out for Locket of Iron Solari if your support is greedy and doesnt want to buy it.
    This is a build used against heavy AD Teams and works really well against AD burst champions or AD Hyper Carries (Zed, Graves, Vayne, Yi, Talon, Darius, Jhin etc.)
    Support Sion is actually really awesome and works really well (Instead of dorans ring you get relic shield for your passive). i'd recommend trying it before saying it doesn't work.
    The AD Sion Build. Only use it if you're having fun or if you are really far ahead and they don't hurt you alot.
    My usual Sion build at the moment depending on how far ahead i am.
    Split Push Build. It will give you lots of push power and you'll still be relatively tanky. I've recently been experimenting with Guinsoos and i believe it's a nice item if you're gonna really commit to split pushing instead of team fighting and ontop of hydra you push waves and towers extremely fast. Would not recommend unless you're team is winning without you.

Situational Items

SITUATIONAL

Guardian Angel works decently ontop of ZZrot because they both give armor and MR, only get it if you're afraid of dying late game (Death timers OP)

Steraks Gage works well if you are being bursted extremely fast as it can block damage along with your shield

Ohmwrecker is a good item if you plan on diving alot when roaming or late game (Not Recommended although stupid strong ontop of ZZ'rot since the voidlings will be able to attack a tower without dying to it)

Banner of Command can work as well but you already have ZZrot (Can replace locket on Support Sion for extra split push power)

RIGHTEOUS GLORY is an AMAZING ITEM on sion (It cost alot though for what it offers) Only buy this if you need to engage without your ultimate

Titanic Hydra is if you need more damage (It will seriously mess people up because of your W passive gaining health and you building tanky)

Doran or Dorans Ring is ok in this match up, I usually start Doran Shield to block some Corrupting Pot Damage. Cloth 4 pot might be okay. I sometimes max my deathscaressfull.png in this lane and focus on farm/roaming to help my team take objectives.

JESUS. OP. Do NOT go into this lane, Dodge if you know you're facing her, if you couldnt dodge then ask to lane swap with mid (Max deathscaressfull.png and start Dorans Shield if they say no.)

Tank vs Tank (I usually go Dorans Shield since Rammus players like to get Corrupting pot and taunt you with their W up to do more damage.) Max your e and poke/farm. Rush ZZ'rot since Rammus does Magic and Physical damage, Try to take his tower and help other lanes by roaming.

Definitly a good pick when you need more damage since it does 40 magic damage per tick and gets stronger as the game goes on I would recommend it if you're building Frozen Mallet and Titanic.

It is extremely good vs people that auto attack you alot, plus the active is extremely nice during team fights after you ult someone and pop w along with this, they will be slowed FOREVER, and it's really nice when you use the active because you can land your Q and your E easier in fights.




Overall it all is a matter of preference and what is needed during the game. If they have alot of auto attackers on their team like 429.png 67.png and 11.png Then definitely Randuins because you'll be able to slow their attack speed (Look at the Vs AD Team build for an idea of what to build during these situations)

Dorans Ring is a great start if you dont know how to use your mana properly or if you want to max E and poke
your lane opponent with minions.

Dorans Shield is a great start if you're vs someone who uses single target spells and auto attacks alot. This is can be useful for early trades as well.
(Vlad, Teemo, Gangplank, Tryndamere, etc.)
