Summoner Spells Back to Top

You will always take 4.png 7.png with Sivir.

Reasons why you take 4.png:

  • Allows you to escape tricky situations. e.g : Flash over a wall, flashing a CC (Leona stun, Alistar combo...).
  • Allows you to chase others effectively or for that last hit for the kill.
  • Gives you that safeguard option.

Reasons to take 7.png:

  • The extra MS is enough to get you out of some sticky situations
  • It is core on all ADCs and can help you in duels or to save an ally.

New Runes Back to Top

Masteries Back to Top

Standard 18/12/0 Masteries with Sivir.

Reasons to take these masteries over others:

Ferocity Tree:
  • Fury - Always take these on AS ADC's such as Vayne/Jinx/Tristana/Caitlyn etc... however if you are a caster such as Lucian/Graves then you will opt for the Sorcery Mastery

  • Feast - You want to take this over double edged sword because you will get chunked down even faster and you don't want that.

  • Vampirism - Increased lifesteal and spell vamp because it benefits you greatly and you don't want extra ability power.

  • Oppressor is good because in most cases you will have a support that can provide some kind of CC or even team mates that can and doing extra damage to them is always useful. However Bounty Hunter is better for late game fights and you will not use this much in laning phase as you will be poking and maybe not so much killing. You can choose between the 2 depending on your composition/play style.

  • Battering Blows - Armor Penetration, fairly straightforward. You do physical damage not magical damage, no reason to take Piercing thoughts.

  • KEYSTONE mastery: Warlords Bloodlust- Sivir needs the lifesteal in lane as she gets beat by most other meta ADCs and needs the sustain.
Cunning Tree:

  • Savagery - Helps you to CS, movement speed out of combat is useless as most of the time you will be in combat.

  • Secret Stash - This gives you a bit of extra sustain and Runic affinity has no use on ADC's in general.

  • Merciless - Very good mastery for finishing people off as the increased damage helps greatly, Meditation only gives mana regen which is quite useless as Sivir has a spell shield to get some mana back.

  • Dangerous game - Can save you in very dire situations and allow you to survive that fight on very little HP, worth taking over bandit.

Maxing skills goes as follows:

R -> Q -> W -> E

Taking E or Q level 2 is your choice depending on if you think you might get CC'd or if they reach level 2 at the same time and want to avoid his CC.

sivirpassive.png

Passive - Fleet of Foot:

Sivir gains bonus movement speed for 2 seconds upon damaging an enemy with an ability or AA.

This will help you chase people and finish off those kills and mainly to kite people back.

spiralblade.png

Q - Boomerang Blade:

Throws a boomerang in a targeted direction which returns to her doing physical damage and damaging the units on it's path, reduced by 15% to each subsequent target up to 40% reduction.

This will be your main Harass and Waveclear tool, however does have a high mana cost so do not spam it.

ricochet.png

W - Ricochet :

For 4 seconds, Sivir gains 3 basic attacks that bounce to nearby enemies until none remain in range.
Attacks on the primary target applies on-hit effects and can crit.
It is also an AA reset.
[Patch 6.4] All of Sivir's W crit if the first attack is a crit.

This will be your main tool to waveclear and use while duelling.

spellshield.png

E - Spell Shield :

A shield is activated during 1.5 seconds and will block the next enemy ability, this will restore mana on a successful block.

This is to be used wisely and needs to be timed right, use it to either gain mana back in lane to be able to push waves or to block important CC.

Beware, it has a very long cooldown so use carefully. This can also be abused by the enemy if it is down.

onthehunt.png

R - On The Hunt :

Passive: Sivir gains Bonus Attack Speed while Ricochet is active

Active: Grants all nearby allies for 8 seconds an initial MS of 60% decaying to 20% after a few seconds.

Your ultimate is what will enable you to help your team to engage and even disengage, and is what you will need to win fights.

Sivir's Ultimate was the main reason she was being picked during the whole of Season 5 and is why she got the victorious skin.

Her ultimate enabled all compositions to engage and disengage, it was a very powerful tool that could work in all compositions. It was also a very safe ADC that could waveclear for days with 2 spells and only 1 - 2 items.

She is not that great of a pick now because of hyper carries taking over and the way preseason has gone so far but only time will tell.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

Standard and Core starting items on ADCs

Core Items

This item grants you crit and allows you to spam spells
These two items will be your AS boosts
These are your core items as they provide crit as well as armor penetration
End game build will look something like this.
This item if you need survivability

Situational Items

If they have a lot of self-healing, sustain like Vladimir, Mundo, Soraka etc...
If you are getting killed too many times then Guardian Angel or if they have too much CC then QSS
This item on it's own is very good against self-healing champs such as Soraka, Mundo, Vladimir. Buy it if they are fed or are too hard to deal with.

Your typical build will look something like 3508.png -> 3006.png -> 3094.png-> 3031.png -> 3087.png/3036.png/3033.png -> 3036.png/3033.png/3087.png   -> Defensive Item

Why not 3035.png?

3035.pngor it's upgrades Mortal Reminder - 3033.png/Lord Dominik's Regards - 3036.png are when the enemies are STACKING armor because of the changes made to this item where it is BONUS armor penetration instead of FLAT armor penetration making it a much weaker item to buy and can be put off.

This means unless they have 2 - 3 people stacking Armor then maybe it's a good item to buy in that case.

VS

Ashe

Medium

I have put this matchup as medium as a lot of it will depend if you can spell shield her ultimate - asheR.png (R).

You can usually out harass her and block her volley for some quick mana or stay behind minions to dodge it.

You do want to be careful of those Ashe arrows and want to be alert at all times.

If you CAN block it for a team mate and spell shield it then do so if you are confident in your skills.

Poke her in lane with your Q and W. You can probably get an early kill as she is quite immobile so a jungler gank can easily force summoners/get a kill early on.

VS

Caitlyn

Hard

Caitlyn is a hard matchup due to the fact she out ranges you and the fact that her traps are now on a charge system allowing her to put multiple at a time whereas before you had to wait for the traps to come off cooldown which were roughly 15 - 20 seconds I believe.

This makes spell shielding one very inefficient as she will replace it on the spot.

However you do have the advantage of being able to block EVERY single spell of hers as they all can be spell shielded.

You can poke her with your Q and clear waves relatively easily, making sure you don't get pushed in so often.

Spell shielding her net or R is generally a good idea, or a Trap if you want to chase her but it's in the way.

If you want some quick mana, spell shield her Q or traps nearby.

Be careful how you use your spell shield as they can capitalise on this very easily depending on the support.

VS

Corki

Hard

Corki is also a hard matchup, you can spell shield almost all his spells except E.

However unlike caitlyn, he can spam his rockets meaning you will never be able to spell shield all of them.

Due to him doing split damage and being able to harass you with little to no counter-trading, he can easily zone you out of the minion wave and poking you at the same time.

Farm up, you are an utility champion that will help in teamfights and be able to waveclear easily.

VS

Draven

Hard

DRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAVEN !!!

Enough said..

No just kidding, this matchup is impossible for you to win alone.

Play passively and do not allow him to get kills early on as this will allow him to snowball very hard.

HOWEVER, letting him farm means he gets more stacks therefore once he gets a kill he will cash in big time !

SO, call in the jungler and make sure to kill him at least ONCE to make him lose stacks otherwise he will be a huge menace with the new/modified items !

VS

Ezreal

Easy

Ezreal, very easy matchup.

You can block all his spells and he is extremely squishy.

You also out damage him in the early to mid game until he gets his items.

The only key here is spell shielding the right ones, mainly his Q -ezrealmysticshot.png and R - ezrealtrueshotbarrage.png.

Prioritise spell shielding his ezrealtrueshotbarrage.png, but if you have to then his ezrealmysticshot.png maybe for mana or for winning a trade before he has his ultimate.

You can poke him and do quite a lot of damage with Q early on.

Pushing the wave in will help, as he will have to spam his ezrealmysticshot.png on minions and use a lot of mana for this allowing you to trade as he will be low on mana early on in the game.

VS

Graves

Hard

Graves is especially strong this patch, you can block his Q and R which are his main source of damage.

However you do have the range advantage, letting you poke him down while staying out of his shotgun range.

Block his Q if you can otherwise his R.

Use your movement speed to your advantage and kite him out, his spells are relatively easy to see coming.

VS

Jinx

Medium

Jinx isn't a hard matchup, but can be difficult if she starts snowballing.

You can avoid all her spells with your spellshield.png (Spell shield). This will allow you to get out of tricky situations or baiting a flash where she thinks she has you.

You can't block her AA's in rocket form so just beware of that.

You mainly want to poke and push the wave, this can make you vulnerable to ganks however so make sure to ward up.

VS

Kalista

Hard

This is a hard matchup as Kalista doesn't have many spells you can spell shield.

Even if you do manage to spell shield, you will have to time it perfectly.

The important ones are kalistaE.png (E) and kalistaR.png (R) however kalistaE.png is very hard to predict when she is going to do it and spell shielding it is very tricky.

Poke her, but survive and try not to give any early kills. Be careful of her kalistaW.png (W), if the support is a ranged champion that can proc her kalistaW.png then just try stay out of range of their AAs.

VS

Kog'Maw

Medium

This matchup is in your favour in the early game as he is very weak.

You can block all his skillshots.

Abuse the early game and spell shield his Q, again another immobile champion and can be ganked multiple times.

Unless Kog'maw has protection he is extremely weak and can get bursted down relatively easily.

VS

Lucian

Hard

Out damages you, you have slightly better poke pre-6.

However, you will not win the lane due to him being able to output more damage with his passive.

Be careful of his all-in at level 2, as a dash -> AA -> Q -> AA can do a lot of damage.

If you have a good support then you can probably outduel him, having someone that can either shield or heal you while you output your damage can let you win the trades against him.

VS

Miss Fortune

Medium

Miss Fortune out damages you, and you don't have much to spell shield unfortunately.

However, after the nerfs to MF and the buffs to Sivir. Sivir can do more damage to Miss fortune with the extra crits on the W and the poke.

Her Q rebound damage is insane, especially if it kills a target where it will do 50% increased damage on the second hit.

Try to stay in front of the minion she is hitting or learn the pattern of her Q spell.

However, Miss fortune has no escape so having an aggressive support can lead to her demise or even calling the jungler to get her and CC her.

She will try to use her passive as much as possible by AAing you then on a minion and then back on you to refresh her passive.

VS

Tristana

Medium

You can spell shield her main damage which is her (E) detonatingshot.png if you time it right as it now detonates immediately upon reaching 4 stacks.

If you manage to spell shield her detonatingshot.png during trades then you will win the trade especially if she jumps in and she doesn't get 4 stacks as it won't reset her (W) rocketjump.png

This will force her flash or other abilities, so use this to your advantage.

Her early game is especially weak, so try use that to your advantage to get some poke in or some good trades/kills.

VS

Twitch

Medium

Your early game is much better than his, so use that to your advantage and shut him down as early as you can.

Buy some pink wards as he can easily sneak up on you and can stop him from escaping.

Harassing and poking him will be your key to winning the early game, he is extremely squishy and damage wise not very good until he gets his key items.

Block his slow from W or block his E if you time it correctly.

After he gets his items, he becomes slightly more difficult to handle and provides a ton of damage from a good distance. He has no escapes however so if your team lands CC on him then he will go down like a fly.

Be weary of Twitch escaping lane and ganking mid lane with his invisibility, this is something many Twitch players do and will do to get an advantage in mid lane or if they are behind to get some pressure off other lanes. Having a pink ward in the river can be incredibly useful to avoid the gank.

VS

Varus

Medium

You can spell shield his poke from varusq.png (Q) in the early levels and his varusr.png (R) which is really useful.

Once he starts getting CDR, it becomes harder to block all his poke but can still block the critical ones.

He is very immobile and relies heavily on his Q to harass you.

Use this to your advantage.

VS

Vayne

Hard

Vayne out scales you. She also starts doing a lot more damage than you and can duel you once she has a couple of items.

You can beat her in laning phase pre-6, you will have to abuse this if you want to win.

After 6 and a few items she can duel you, if you don't block her (E) - vaynecondemn.png then you will have trouble winning that duel.

Try to be with your support at all times and not duelling a Vayne 1 v 1 where she can kite you and beat you in a 1 v 1 unless you are significantly ahead.

Vayne's early game is compensated if she has a good sustain support (i.e. Soraka/Janna etc...), this will mean she out duels you at all stages of the game.

Farm till you have ER, then you at least have the possibility to group up and punish her through superior team fighting.

General ADC Tips Back to Top

These are Tips that will work for all ADCs and will help you become a better player:

  1. Be constantly moving and clicking near your champion as this enables you to react faster to dodge skillshots then moving slowly and clicking far away.
  2. Learn champion powerspikes (This can be items or levels for example, Annie reaching level 6 before you or someone getting a BF while you have a pickaxe) this will help you identify when you can and can't go in. Knowing this information can prevent you from dying if you are starting duels and not respecting their itemisation.
  3. Itemisation: Always look at what the enemy is building and see if you can duel them because they have an item disadvantage or level disadvantage as well as if the team is stacking Armor or MR. This will help you decide on your own itemisation such as should I go LW or BT.
  4. Switching Targets: Knowing when to switch target and when you can kill someone is very important. If you are focusing a Leona but a Jinx is in your attack range and you can reach her safely then by all means switch to Jinx otherwise you would want to focus Leona.
  5. The basic rule for switching targets is focus the nearest person without putting yourself in danger and when someone of a higher priority enters that range and also doesn't put yourself in danger then switch to that higher priority target.
  6. Tracking Summoner cooldowns, if you know their ADC doesn't have flash and they are very reliant on it, then you can abuse this fact and call the jungler to gank them knowing they won't be able to escape it.
  7. Map awareness - We all know that map awareness is important however ADCs are focused a lot of the time on reaching those CS numbers or trading with the enemy. However you should look at the map each time you get a CS or are waiting for the CS to get low.
  8. General rule of thumb, CS > Trading. If you are missing CS to trade with the enemy then it's not worth it. However, if the jungler comes to gank, try to follow up and don't try to CS unless you know it's a wasted gank and you are too far to follow up.
  9. Always try to push the wave to the turret when the enemy has backed as it makes them lose experience and gold.

Last hitting + Trading Back to Top

Last hitting is very important as an ADC in general.

So what is last hitting?

The concept of last hitting is basically giving the final blow on the minion to get the gold and experience from it.

Why is last hitting important?

Well, last hitting involves waiting for your minions to get the enemy minions low enough for you to last hit them hence why you need to know how much damage your AA's deal or how much damage your spells do.

Last hitting helps you control the minion wave and also allows you to look at other things while waiting for that minion to be low enough to kill such as looking at the map or keeping a timer on summoners or even trading.

This brings me to the question:

What is trading?

Trading is the exchange of damage between two or more champions.

So how do I win a trade?

Well, in order to win a trade you have to do more damage to your enemy than he does to you. Simple, right?

If only it was that easy.

What other factors might stop you from winning a trade?

  • Creeps/Minions - When you attack an enemy champion with AA's, the minions start attacking you, this is called minion aggro. However if you use spells on an enemy while in a minion wave then they will ignore you.
  • Support - There is another person in that lane, the support will attack you if you start to attack the ADC.
So what do I do, I will lose the trade every time, won't I ?

No !

In order to win a trade, there are a couple of things you have to take into account and that can help you further win trades:

  • Do they have a lot of minions?
  1. Yes - Don't trade, and farm up all those minions and get some gold
  2. No - Can you safely go for an AA or 2 without taking too much damage in return?
What is the ideal situation for you safely going in for an AA or 2?

When they are trying to CS, if they are going to attack a minion they cannot focus you at the same time, and if he does he loses a minion.

  • Do you have an advantage in minions?
  1. Yes - Go in for a small trade, as if they do decide to attack you then the minion aggro will make you win that trade
  2. No - Farm and ward up
These are general tips and will not apply EVERY time this happens but can help you in terms of trading.

With Sivir, you can win trades with your Q and spell shield most of the time however unless you are doing consistent damage you will lose the fights as they will most probably out damage you at some point (most likely post 6).

Kiting & Positioning Back to Top

What is kiting?

Kiting refers to when a ranged champion continuously attacks a melee champion while keeping a safe distance not allowing the melee champion to reach him and doing any damage.

A good video showing this is :

It also shows what key bindings are useful for kiting.

Another great video on this is :

Where attack moving and animation cancelling are explained in more detail.

Now on to positioning:

Positioning is where you are compared to the enemy team. When people say you have bad positioning or you need to get better at positioning.

What do they mean?

Well they mean that you should stop being in the front line where your tanks should be or being caught out of position meaning you shouldn't of been there because you had nothing to gain from being there or you had insufficient vision to be able to make that play.

A good video on explaining all this is:

Teamfighting as Sivir Back to Top

How to play team fights as Sivir?

Sivir is a very team fight oriented champion. You will not be important/winning laning phase most of the time, the most important thing is to survive during laning phase and not give kills early on.

During team fights, is where you are going to shine with your AoE attacks and Movement Speed (MS) buff.

You will be staying close to your team, however you want to know what is happening and when you plan on going in and out as this you will have to be very decisive on when you are going to use your (R) onthehunt.png.

Attack the closest target to you, if you have peel from your team then that's great, attack and kite as much as possible.

If you don't then wait for important cooldowns to be blown and then go in the fight and clean up. You have your spell shield if anything goes wrong. Try to be patient with it and dodge those that you can without having to waste your spell shield as the enemy team will capitalise on this fact.

If you do not know what kiting is, please refer to the Kiting section.

Sivir is not a hyper carry however she does a lot of damage over time (self explanatory), she provides huge DPS in teamfights if allowed to attack.

Prioritise targets in your attack range, then go for high priority targets WITHOUT putting yourself in danger.

What is your Role as Sivir? Back to Top

What role do you play with Sivir during and out of laning phase?

During laning phase:

Your role is to survive laning phase and farm up. You have 2 abilities that can clear waves instantly, this allows you to remain safe and clear waves for days.

She is not a duelist that will be getting kills. She will be the most useful in team fights because of her AoE (Area of Effect) spells and her engage/disengage ultimate.

You will be doing tons of damage with your W and Q. You also have the safety net of having a spell shield inside your kit. So if you do get engaged on, then kite back while using your spell shield to block important CC.

Outside of laning phase :

You will be doing huge amounts of damage in team fights and most importantly help your team with skirmishes and objective control.

If you have the CC in your team then you allow them to engage really fast on people doing objectives or disengage from objectives as soon as possible.

You will want to attack the target closest to you and kiting back with the extra MS from your passive sivirpassive.png and (R) onthehunt.png.

Using your ultimate will be key to winning the fights. Make sure your team is on the same page and ping/let them know when you are going to use your ultimate.

Right Click, Attack Move, Attack Move Click ? Back to Top

Which one do I use? I am so confused !!

If this is the question you are asking yourself then look no further !

So how to decide between all 3 of these?

Well let's go over them:

Right click - This is your default click, you will have to click which target you want to attack as well as the direction you want to move in. This involves a lot of clicking.

Attack Move - What is this? Attack move allows you to move to a targeted location and attack any enemies that come near your attack range. This involves moving and attacking at the same time however requires one binding to use it and requires a second click to select the area.

This avoids you miss clicking and clicking next to a target and moving there instead of attacking it.

When you use attack move your move commands will turn red as shown below:

Red cursor.jpg

So how is this different to Attack move Click? Well think of Attack move Click as the smart-cast version of Attack move, meaning it will move and attack through one binding. Binding to "A" would be preferential as it is convenient.

If you want to know where these bindings are, there is a screenshot below of the options panel:

Test.png

I would recommend trying all 3 and finding which one works best for you !

Good luck :)
