Summoner Spells Back to Top

4.png Flash

Flash is a must have for Sivir. It helps you to position yourself, to gap close to an enemy (rarely recommended), to jump over walls and to dodge lethal abilities. It's just the best summoner spell in the game due to being so versatile.

7.png Heal

Heal is very important in the bot lane due to being a summoner spell for two people. It heals yourself and an ally for a decent amount and also increases the movement speed by 30% for you and your ally. It's like a "two in one" summoner spell and is always a good choice.

1.png Cleanse

I rarely recommend using Cleanse (as you can see in other guides of mine) but there are some options you can actually take Cleanse as an ADC. But not with Sivir.

Due to her E spell Sivir already has a sort of cleanse and is not in need for it in the first place. If you manage to use your E correctly Cleanse is absolutely not needed.

Masteries Back to Top

Ferocity - 18 points

  • Fury is taken to increase your attack speed which helps you more than bonus ability damage
  • Feast helps you to sustain the laning phase
  • Vampirism also helps you to sustain
  • Natural Talent can be taken if you plan to play more offensively
  • Battle Trance increases your damage over long fights which are normal for ADCs
  • Battering Blows increases your physical damage
  • Warlord's Bloodlust helps you to sustain

Cunning - 12 points

  • Savagery helps you to last hit better
  • Secret Stash helps you to sustain
  • Merciless helps you to finish off your enemies
  • Meditation is very helpful to regenerate some of your mana and worth in the tradeoff of 1 point from Merciless
  • Dangerous Game will help you live after a close fight

What about the Resolve tree?

That's a good question. The Resolve tree is often taken into account when you have struggle playing the lane / surviving in general. Sivir doesn't has those problems due to her incredible waveclear and the spell shield. It might be reasonable to take when you have a healing/shielding Support to increase the value of his abilities but is not needed in every case. You should think about it yourself.

Why do we split mastery points?

As you can see I split up mastery points between Vampirism/Natural Talent and Merciless/Meditation which I did for a reason. First of all our rune page is set up the way that we sacrifice almost nothing in terms of stats (we lose a bit of strength in the early levels) while getting a better scaling into the game. All we really lose is the 1.6% Spellvamp while we still get a decent amount of Lifesteal which is the important factor as an ADC. Also I put one point into Meditation just because of having my spells slightly more often in the laning phase. Mercilles doesn't really help you in the early game unless you have a bloody game (which you often don't have as Sivir) - this is why it's pretty good to have some extra mana regeneration to make your early game better while only sacrificing 1% of bonus damage when your enemy is below 40%.

You lose about 8 damage with this 1% when you finish off an enemy (with 2000 HP) alone - I think that's worth it. Overall in a game where you dealt about 30,000 damage you lose about 120 which isn't that of a big deal compared to using at least 2 more spells from the extra mana you got (which pretty sure deal more than 120 damage).

Q or W first?

While the Q and W lane push is fairly similiar early on it's often better to go for W first because it sets up more pressure in the botlane. Your Q is a skillshot which can be dodged while the W travels by its own and often deals some damage to the enemy laners while you are just attacking the minions. Also it grants you more for a really short trade due to the auto attack reset. Later on (level 3-5) Q is more important in the lane since it deals way more damage than W.

sivirpassive.png Passive - Fleet of Foot

  • Your passive increases your movement speed when damaging an enemy champion with an ability or basic attack
  • It helps you chase down enemy champions or kiting them

sivirq.png Q - Boomerang Blade

  • Your main ability early on
  • It deals damage twice: when you throw it out + when it returns to you
  • Use it to push minion waves early and and to hurass the enemy laners

sivirw.png W - Ricochet

  • Your most important ability in teamfights
  • Your next 3 auto attacks bounce to nearby unaffected units dealing physical damage to them
  • It's an auto attack reset
  • It can crit (so crit is pretty good on Sivir)

sivire.png E - Spell Shield

  • Defensive ability
  • No cost
  • You block the next incoming (enemy) ability within the next 1.5 seconds
  • It restores mana upon a successful block
  • Very useful for lane trades

sivirr.png R - On the Hunt

  • Passive: You gain bonus attack speed while Ricochet (W) is active
  • Active: You and your nearby allies get bonus movement speed for 8 seconds
  • Use it when engaging or disengaging a teamfight

Starting Items

    against tanky supports
against a strong early game bot (e.g. Draven/Zyra)
    against poking supports

Core Items

To have Warlord's Bloodlust more often
If your team has no waveclear
    Standard
    never

Situational Items

    Example End Game Build

Start with

Doran's Blade + 1 HP Pot + Warding Totem

1055.png2003.png3340.png
  • Standard starting items for ADCs
  • It grants you health, sustain and bonus damage

Doran's Shield + 2 HP Pot + Warding Totem

1054.png2003.png2003.png3340.png

  • Against a strong early game bot lane (e.g. Draven and Zyra)
  • It grants you health, more sustain than Doran's Blade and on hit damage on minions
  • Your auto attacks and spells on champions are weaker

Long Sword + 3 HP Pot + Warding Totem

1036.png2003.png2003.png2003.png3340.png
  • Against a poking support (e.g. Lulu, Nami, Soraka or Sona)
  • You are able to buy your first item faster
  • You are weaker against all ins

The Warding Totem is the best starting trinket for AD carries. This trinket will help you to cover your lane from jungle ganks and let you ward the bushes in the lane to have more vision in general. You can check where to ward in the laning phase under the "Warding as an ADC" section.

Core

The core item build paths below are different in certain aspects but share the same amount of gold spent to aquire them. Here they are.

Standard

3508.png3046.png3006.png
  • Phantom Dancer is the standard attack speed item for Sivir due to its high attack speed value and bonus movement speed when chasing an enemy.

Waveclear

3508.png3087.png3006.png
  • Statikk Shiv will help you waveclear the minions way faster than normally. It's only needed if your mid laner has no to little reliable and save waveclear (e.g. Kassadin, Fizz, Katarina)

Kiting

3508.png3094.png3006.png
  • Rapid Firecannon synergizes well with Warlord's Bloodlust and can be bought if you need to be in the very back of your team or have to survive as long as possible in a teamfight.

Infinity Edge

3031.png
  • Your 3rd big item will always be Infiity Edge. This is a big powerspike for Sivir. At this point you are extremely strong and very useful in teamfights.

Situational

Your 4th item is very situational and can be in one of the following categories: Armor Penetration or Other.

Armor Penetration

If you are up against two or more tanks Armor Penetration is your best choice implied that they buy armor of course. Now you have to choose between Lord Dominik' Regards 3036.png and Mortal Reminder 3033.png.
Mortal Reminder is only a good option if the enemy team has some sort of healing (e.g. Dr. Mundo, Swain, Soraka or the infamous item Redemption) which you can deny. If this isn't the case you are free to buy Lord Dominik's Regards which will increase your damage by a maximum of 15% (depending on the situation) which is huge.

Other

If you have problems with CC you can purchase Quicksilver Sash 3140.png to protect yourself (even if you have your spellshield). If you need Lifesteal you can upgrade it to Mercurial Scimitar 3139.png immediately. If you don't need it you can go with an Attack Speed or Armor Penetration item (most likely an Armor Penetration item). If you die way too fast you can go for Bloodthirster 3072.png to prevent assassin and bruisers from killing you 100 to 0 due to its shield. 3812.png is a solid item for Sivir and got recently buffed. Her W will heal herself up in a teamfight which can be a lot.

End Build

3508.png3046.png3006.png3031.png3812.png3036.png
This could be you(r full build).

2140.png
Never forget Elixir of Wrath. It helps you to deal more damage and grants you sustain. If you are full build or a close to a game ending teamfight buy Elixir of Wrath if you can't buy anything else. It will help you.

Support Synergies Back to Top

These are the following supports that I recommend playing together with Sivir as they are currently in the meta and fit to her. You can still play other champions as well to support Sivir. This list is based on my personal experience and some statistics from higher elo.

S Tier Supports

43.png  Karma and Sivir have been a great combination ever since they both got their champion updates. Their synergy is incredible and offers a lot to the team. Both champions can push minion waves really quick and therefore have lane dominance. Karma also has a shield which lets Sivir survive most skirmishes and short trades due to its movement speed buff. This buff is also very impactful in teamfights when Sivir and Karma use their ultimates in a row to maximize the bonus movement speed the team can get. It's one of the most solid lanes.

117.png Lulu is a great champion to support hyper carries (like Sivir). Her lane presence allows Sivir to step ahead and be proactive in the laning phase. Lulu also offers a lot of defensive abilities to protect Sivir in inferior situations so they can either escape the fight or turn the match up. Together those two are a lane who cannot really lose the lane - they will do fine almost in almost every match up.

412.png  Thresh can hold champions in place which makes it very easy for Sivir to deal damage. Thresh's lantern also allows Sivir to overstay a bit in the lane and to push this really last wave of minions so they get a better recall timing. Thresh is also able to roam during the laning phase due to Sivir's waveclear. If he goes for a roam you should stay close to your tower and clear the minions as fast as possible with your Q and W so the enemy has a hard time diving you.

A Tier Supports

432.png Bard kinda does the same job as Thresh but is still a little bit different. He is also great and holding enemies in place (with his Q) and roams a lot. He also offers a heal to you, even when he is gone so you have a better time in the 1 vs 2 situation. However he has less abilities to CC the enemies and is therefore less reliable. Also he isn't really able to save you from very dangerous situations but is more likely to turn them around together with the help of other teammates.

40.png267.png16.png  Janna, Nami and Soraka all fulfill the same role. They don't have as much lane pressure as Karma or Lulu but will help you go trough the laning phase. You can trade quite a lot with those champions due to their sustain (or when Janna shield is on you). There abilities are often used reactive which means that you will be more passive in lane. It's all about the farm with those champions (and maybe some short trades).

B (and below) Tier Supports

12.png201.png53.png89.png37.png44.png223.png

I don't think that these champions fit very well to Sivir in the current meta but will work if you play well around them, their cooldowns and look for a trade when it's safe. Go trough the laning phase without many sacrifices and do well in the mid to late game.

I really don't like mage supports (63.png25.png161.png26.png143.png) together with Sivir because they don't offer a lot. While Zilean may work in some situations I would go 9 out of 10 times with the supports listed above.

Early Game Back to Top

Focus on farming in the early game. Use your Q and W to deal damage to the enemy laners while hitting the minions to push the wave. Try to also have some wave management and don't push too far when you know the enemy jungler could be near.

You can also use your Q range to simply hit your enemies from a distance. If you are in close trades you can combine your Q with a quick basic attack and maybe a W attack to increase your damage.

Also look out when to use your spell shield so you can block incoming damage from your enemies so you go out superior when trading. If trades don't go too well, you should go back on farming only and use your spells defensively.

Teamfighting Back to Top

Sivir is a great teamfighting champion and you are really able to shine with her in those.

You shouldn't rely on your Q in teamfights because you will deal more damage only using your autoattacks and your W. The only time I would consider using Q is when you time it between auto attacks (AA - Q - AA while W is on cooldown) or you throw it backwards when somebody is chasing you.

The auto attack reset is very important for Sivir's W. You can actually throw two auto attacks in almost the same time when using it right as you can see here in the video.

Your W is also your main damage during the teamfight because you are able to deal damage to multiple targets.

Use your Spell Shield (E) to prevent getting hit by lethal abilities (such as Syndra's E, Ashe's Ultimate and so on). Before a teamfight you should always think about what abilities can lead to your death and which you don't have to block with your Spell Shield, so you will be prepared when the most lethal of them all is going right at you.

Your ultimate is also a great ability for teamfighting. It allows your team to engage or disengage a teamfight, to chase people down or to just kite better during a teamfight. Especially low mobility champions benefit from your ultimate. Use it carefully and time your ultimate with your team so your team is able to follow up on an engage.

In general you should stay in between of your team - meaning behind your frontline but in front of your Mage/Support and attack everything in your way. Don't go for the enemy ADC or Midlaner while you have to go trough 2 other enemies. Attack the closest enemy you can reach and switch targets as soon as a target back offs.

Your passive will allow you to kite more easily during a fight which makes it harder for the enemies to kill you. Try to kite the enemy to your teammates with CC so they can help you out. In 1v1 situations (which are kinda unlikely to happen during a teamfight) you won't do much unless you are way stronger than your enemy.

If you have a situation like the one above you can clearly go for such an aggressive play but make sure your enemies have used lethal abilites already so they have a low chance of killing you when you go (aka flash) in.

Pros and Cons Back to Top

Pros

  • Easy to play
  • Good teamfight champion
  • Brings waveclear to the team
  • Benefits from recent ADC changes (crit item change)

Cons

  • No duelling (weak 1v1)
  • Needs the team to be relevant in fights

Warding as an ADC Back to Top

Your warding as an ADC is limited in the early phase of the game due to just having trinkets or a control ward in rare occasions. Here I want to show you where to ward in the lane.

Green: Trinket
Pink: Control Wards

I personally look to have a bush in my lane warded so I can see when someone steps into it. Also the river and tribush should always be warded. Here I would place my control ward as an ADC. If I am on blue side I put my control ward in the ward next to the river. If I am on red side I put my control ward into the tribush. Sometimes I put the control ward in the first lane bush (the bush that is closest to your tower) so I am safe from Teleport ganks.
Of course you cannot ward it all so you need some help from your support.
