Summoner Spells Back to Top

3.png3.png3.png

Don't think of Exhaust as a peeling or "Safe" Summoner Spell, think of it as "Control"

You can use Exhaust offensively and defensively.

Exhaust has 2 uses
  1. Reduces damage dealt from target by 40%
  2. Reduces their movement speed by 40%

4.png4.png4.png

Flash is standard, to get the most value out of it with Soraka is letting the enemy commit as far as possible into you & your team, then quickly Flashing away.

The wrong way to use it is by finding yourself in the middle of the enemy team and having to flash away.

14.png

Ignite

  • Inflicts True Damage based on level
  • Reduces Healing
With the nerfs to Exhaust, Ignite is not a bad option on Soraka, but it still has to be used mostly defensively, so it helps against targets that not only try to go deep into your team, but also heal a lot such as (266.png103.png122.png36.png9.png420.png39.png57.png82.png75.png50.png48.png8.png106.png19.png

New Runes Back to Top

Guardian.png?width=64Gives a shield when you are near an ally and take damage, also gives a small speed boost to run away or into the enemy, blocks a ton of damage in the laning phase, and gives you some survivability in the mid - late game.
Font%20of%20Life.png?width=64 sorakaq.png will mark enemies and will heal your allies when they attack them
Conditioning.png?width=64 Free Armor & Magic Resist after 10 minutes, making you more durable for the mid - late game.
Revitalize.png?width=64 Bonus Healing and Shielding everything Soraka wants!

The%20Ultimate%20Hat.png?width=64 Lower ULT CDR, easy to stack up from the early to mid game, so come late game your ULT will practically never be on cooldown.
Scorch.png?width=64 Adds more damage to your poke during the laning phase, making it even more oppressive.

Masteries Back to Top

Cunning

  • Wanderer 5/5 - Soraka spends most the game not in combat (not damaged an enemy or being damaged) so you are able to make use of this movement speed idling behind carries, moving between lanes, or simply walking back to lane
  • Secret Stash 1/1 - You start with 3 2003.png Health Pots, this gives you extra value out of them, and any other Health pots you buy throughout the game
  • Meditation 5/5 - Nice to get Mana Regen for Free, and you get now value out of the other option in "Merciless"
  • Bandit 1/1 - Get free gold for being in lane and seeing minions die, and hitting opponents, nice Gold Regen in combination with Coin 3301.png3096.png
  • Intelligence 5/5 - Soraka is only her Abilities, having them up more often, and having 5% CDR + 3301.png gives you 10% CDR from level 1
  • Windspeaker's Blessing 1/1 - Catalyst to everything Soraka is about!

Resolve

Recovery 5/5 - More free Health Regen
Tough Skin 1/1 - When you are in a duo lane ( against 2 Champions) so you take double the auto attacks than normal, it's nice to have some of the damage from that reduced
Veteran's Scars 4/5 - +40 Health from level 1 in combination with Flat Health Runes in Seals, gives you +112 Health
Runic Armor 1/5 - Having 1 point in this lets you get the bonuses from it, as little as they are is more valuable than the +10 health you lose from the 1 point in Veteran's Scars
Insight 1/1 - Lets you have 3.png 4.png up more often

Skill Order

sorakar.png > sorakaw.png > sorakae.png > sorakaq.png

Make sure you follow the Leveling Path, it is very important:
  • 3 Points in Q sorakaq.png
  • Then Max W sorakaw.png
  • Then Max E sorakae.png

sorakapassive.png Passive

Gain Movement Speed towards Allys that are low on Health

  • Lets you get to targets very far away to attempt to save them
  • Lets you run away from fights towards an ally that is already Low on Health
  • Gives you options for kiting / movement in team fights when multiple Allys are Low on Health

sorakaq.png  Starcall

Drops a Circle that fall speed is based on distance from which it was cast ( closer is faster ) if it hits it damages and slows the target, and Regens Soraka's Health, and the next heal you cast in a short amount of time also gives your Ally the Bonus Health Regen for a small amount of time.

  • Closer you cast to you the faster it falls, and if you hit an enemy gives you movement speed if running backward, so is a great kiting tool
  • When you hit an enemy empowers Soraka's next W sorakaw.png for a short amount of time
  • Does an ok amount of damage early

sorakaw.png Astral Infusion

Soraka loses some Health, and Heals an Ally Champion

  • Press W, you give an ally Health
  • Cost is Soraka's Health & Mana, so you have to use it wisely
  • You have to play around the cooldown of W sorakaw.png during fights rather than mindlessly spamming it, so you can Heal targets that actually need it.

sorakae.png Equinox

Instant cast a Circle on the ground, all targets in the zone are Silenced for as long as they stay in it, after 1.5 Seconds all targets in it are Rooted as well

  • When an enemy jumps on your carry, this not only makes it so they can't cast abilities, but creates a zone in which they can't stay or they will be rooted
  • When enemies are hit by locked in place with abilities such as darkbindingmissile.pngluxlightbinding.pngelisehumane.png drop this on top of them as well, and they will be stuck for even longer
  • Don't use this in lane for damage, if you do it gives the enemy opportunity to engage on you

sorakar.png Wish

Globally Instantly Heals all allies on the Map
  • Can save targets anywhere on the map, but comes with a long Cooldown
  • Use it to get free Assist $$
  • Also Heals Soraka, so use it in fights after casting a couple of Ws sorakaw.png

3301.png2009.png2009.png2009.png(+165 Health + 15 Mana Each)using all = (+495 HP & +45 Mana) 3340.png

3301.png Ancient Coin, 3 Biscuits, and a ward on cooldown.

Ancient Coin gives you gold for being near Minions that die, so to cosistantly be generating gold you need to be in lane, it also gives you small amounts of Health & Mana over time, and 5% CDR, so basically a little of everything that Soraka wants.
2009.png You should look to trade your Health Pots for the enemy ADC's Health Pots, in heavy poke lanes you can focus on just Healing sorakaw.png your ADC, and using the Health Pots to get back more Health for more Heals sorakaw.png

3340.png You only get a Trinket ward 180 Seconds (3 minutes) so you need to have a good read on the Enemy Jungler potential location.

3341.png

Once you get 2049.png Sightstone, you can switch to Sweeper, holding on to 3340.png is only beneficial if you are trapped on your side of the map.

Build Path

3301.png > 3096.png > 3158.png > 2049.png > 2302.png > 3114.png > 3801.png > 3107.png > 3114.png > 3113.png > 3504.png > 3105.png > 1033.png > 3190.png > 3801.png > 1031.png > 3109.png

  • Early Gold Generation with Coin
  • Cheap Cooldown Reduction & Mobility with Boots
  • Items that add extra effects with Healing Abilities and Shields that get Bonuses from Windspeakers

2302.png - Frees up an item slot, and gives you 1 more ward and small amounts of Health,Health Regen, and Mana Regen
3158.png - Cheap, and gives you Mobility, CDR, and reduces cooldown for 3.png4.png giving the enemy less time to capitalize on your summoners being down
3107.png - All stats are good for Soraka, but active lets you channel a huge AOE Heal for everyone on your team (including you) and Minions, so it has a LOT of uses, and can also be used from long range away
3504.png - Gives Soraka a nice amount of Ability Power, as well as making Heals and Shields grant Attack Speed and On-hit Magic Damage for Allies, really really strong if carries on your team can make use of it
3190.png - Gives you Flat Stats, which isn't to valuable until way later into the game, since everyone will be looking to kill you then, also active shield scales off levels, which again you won't have until way later into the game, so it's best to try to get this item as late as possible, but active gives everyone around you in a short vicinity a pretty good size shield great for blocking incoming damage, since you can only heal your allies after they have been damaged already.
3109.png - Since this should be your last item, the defensive stats make more sense, also the Passive lets you heal off your carries doing damage which is nice

Other Items

1082.png / 3041.png - Soraka shouldn't be dying that much in fights, and if you know you will staying alive in fights these items lets you really snowball a lead by granting you AP for every Kill or Assist, Soraka with a lot of AP Heals for a LOT more

3102.png Soraka's easy "hey stop killing me Enemy AP Champion" item, cheap and effective passive
3026.png Lets you be more aggressive with your movements since you are coming back, or lets you stall out fights if multiple enemy carries dive into your team just to kill you, and they have to wait for the GA Timer before you respawn, also fairly cheap
3174.png Really cheap, and gives you 20% CDR REALLY FAST, but making use of the passive of building up stacks by doing damage can be fairly hard, then having to buy items over the 40% CDR cap is weird, but not terriable item, just not super defensive.
3222.png When the enemy has some crucial CC that you need to remove quickly from a carry during a fight such as: elisehumane.pngcassiopeiar.pngbardq.pngmalzaharr.pngpantheonw.pngrenektonpreexecute.png etc, also 20% bonus on Heals and Shields is really, really nice on Soraka.

Ahri

Medium
  • ahritumble.png Will look to pick you off early
  • Dodge ahriseduce.png in team fights
  • AOE from ahriorbofdeception.pngahrifoxfire.pngahritumble.png can also do a significant amount of damage to Soraka even if she isn't the main target

VS

Alistar

Medium
  • Will try to engage on you in lane just stand behind your carry
  • When he isn't in lane he is likely to roam, look to counter with sorakar.png
  • If he headbutt.pngs your carry, look to hit a Q sorakaq.png on the enemy ADC instead of Alistar, you don't do damage to him.

VS

Amumu

Easy
  • During team fights don't walk any where near him
  • sorakae.pngsorakaq.png don't do much to him, try to hit his allies around him with them instead
  • 3190.png Helps if your team is always getting 5 man curseofthesadmummy.png unlucky

VS

Anivia

Medium
  • Don't be in the middle of a lane where she can crystallize.png you off and leave you all alone with her team
  • sorakae.png will stop glacialstorm.png
  • As she is reviving from her passive you can time sorakae.png to root her as she comes back to life, rooting the egg doesn't matter

VS

Annie

Hard
  • Mid Lane Annie will look to flash on you with infernalguardian.png at all stages in the game
  • Maybe get a 3102.png if things are going poorly
  • If she drops full combo using sorakae.png on her doesn't do anything meaningful

VS

Ashe

Medium
  • sorakar.png can counter if she hits a cross map enchantedcrystalarrow.png
  • sorakae.png don't really affect her look to slow with sorakaq.png instead
  • sorakaw.png lets you easily out sustain her volley.png during the laning phase

VS

Blitzcrank

Medium
  • Stand in Minions so he can't rocketgrab.png You
  • Be ready to ULT sorakar.png and E sorakae.png if Blitz is looking to flash onto you
  • During the staticfield.png Silence duration, just focus on movement instead of trying to spam abilities one it's over

VS

Caitlyn

Easy
  • Caitlyn out ranges most ADCs and wears them down ovr time with Auto Attacks, Soraka's W sorakaw.png lets you mitigate that
  • Drop E sorakae.png when you are trying to engage on Cait so she can't Net caitlynentrapment.png away

VS

Camille

Medium
  • If Camille ULTs you camiller.png try to land a Q sorakaq.png and walk from one edge to another, if you simply corner yourself you let her free hit you
  • If Camille ULTs an ally camiller.png then you can be on the edge Healing sorakaw.png them, or even drop Redemption 3107.png on them for help
  • Drop Silence sorakae.png to where she is going to land after using camillee.png

VS

Cassiopeia

Medium
  • Don't have your Face turn towards her in team fights you shit will hit you with cassiopeiar.png
  • sorakae.png her if she is cassiopeiae.png an ally
  • sorakaq.png and just run if she is trying to kill you

VS

Cho'Gath

Medium
  • If he lands rupture.png he will insta kill you with a follow up feralscream.pngfeast.png since Soraka's health pool is so low compared to the True Damage he does, so don't give his opportunities to hit rupture.png
  • If Cho'gath lands rupture.png on an ally be ready to drop sorakae.png on top of him so he can't ULT feast.png
  • sorakaq.png Only look to land a Q on him if he is really deep into your team, if not than focus on kiting back and sorakaw.png healing targets he might have damaged

VS

Corki

Medium
  • missilebarrage.png Poke late game is easily countered by sorakaw.png that is unless you are the one getting hit by the rockets
  • Watch out for his Packet roams mid / late game.
  • Does mixed damage and crits, so if Corki gets in range of Soraka she will be chunked very quickly.

VS

Diana

Medium
  • Diana does a HUGE amount of burst dianaarc.pngdianaorbs.pngdianateleport.pngdianateleport.png Combo, and will easily one shot you
  • Don't walk into unwarded bushes if she is missing from a lane
  • If she does get onto you or an ally ULT sorakar.png quickly before death

VS

Dr. Mundo

Medium
  • Can run Ignite 14.png to counter his sadism.png
  • sorakae.png Doesn't help if he is running down a carry
  • sorakaw.png & sorakaq.png to peel as much as possible, always be walking backwards if he is walking forward

VS

Draven

Medium
  • Draven does a lot of damage in lane, but as long as he is doing it to your ADC you can simply sorakaw.png them back, just don't get hit yourself
  • Draven will be really aggressive, so always keep your distance in lane
  • Be ready to flash dravendoubleshot.png

VS

Ekko

Medium
  • sorakae.png if he is low since he will try to ULT ekkor.png away
  • Don't stand in ekkow.png or you die
  • Ekko has a lot of burst, you have to quickly heal targets he goes on, or they will pop

VS

Elise

Medium
  • Watch out of early ganks
  • Always be ready to flash a elisehumane.png out of a bush
  • sorakae.png where she lands from repel

VS

Evelynn

Medium
  • Will Camp your lane if you are pushed up
  • Always just assume she is going to be in position to kill you, and don't push silly map movement when you are low health
  • Be looking  to sorakar.png targets she is ganking across the map during Mid game

VS

Ezreal

Easy
  • Stand in minions to dodge ezrealmysticshot.png
  • sorakar.png to counter cross map ezrealtrueshotbarrage.png snipes
  • Try to roam since Ezreal is generally stuck to his lane for a longer time than other ADCs

VS

Fiddlesticks

Medium
  • sorakae.png if he channels Drain drain.png
  • Care for his crowstorm.png over walls at all stages in the game, expect it
  • fiddlesticksdarkwind.png can really mess Soraka up since you can't spam heals if it.

VS

Fiora

Hard
  • sorakaq.png Doesn't stop her at all since she has her dash up so often
  • If she goes on you, she will most likely chase you down, just sorakaq.png and run as far into your team as possible and hope the clean up 3.png
  • sorakaw.png who ever she has ULTed fiorar.png

VS

Fizz

Hard
  • Stand really far behind carries, if he goes onto them all of his damage can come at once 3190.png shield is the only way to block it before it all applies
  • Watch out for his roams
  • sorakae.png where he is going to land from fizze.png

VS

Gangplank

Medium
  • gangplankr.png will come down bot lane any fight you attempt so you have to play around that
  • You can also counter his attempts to secure kills with gangplankr.png by ULTing sorakar.png
  • If he lands poke with gangplanke.png be sure to sorakaw.png you carries

VS

Garen

Easy
  • Don't be far up and give him the opportunity to single you out
  • It's that simple really
  • Just don't be on top of a Garen you know

VS

Gnar

Medium
  • When he is building up fury expect him to jump into your team and look for an ULT gnarr.png
  • Gnar will most likely build 3022.png so if he gets an auto attack on you, you have to flash
  • Stay really far bck

VS

Gragas

Medium
  • gragasr.png can launch you and your allies into the enemy team
  • When he 4.pnggragase.png's an ally, be ready to sorakae.png & sorakar.png
  • sorakaq.png slow doesn't affect him

VS

Graves

Medium
  • Try to get more Cooldown Reduction quicker to deal with his Mid game spike
  • gravessmokegrenade.png will make it so you can't see or target your allies with sorakaw.png
  • If you or an ally gets away from a fight with a low amount of health expect an graveschargeshot.png

VS

Janna

Easy
  • You're both waiting for to heal away damage taken or shield to block the damage
  • If you are looking to win the map, you can easily leave lane after level 6 sorakar.png since she can't follow and if they try to go engage onto your ADC 2v1 you can ULT from anywhere on the map sorakar.png

VS

Karthus

Easy
  • Counter his ULT karthusfallenone.png with your ULT sorakar.png

VS

Leona

Medium
  • Avoid her leonazenithblade.png range in lane
  • Watch out for her ULT leonasolarflare.png she can stun you from a very long distance away, and over walls

Early Game Back to Top

You don't' have any good options to do anything but play Neutral or Defensive,

Any invade your team attempts early you don't help out that much, hitting enemies that are running away with Q sorakaq.png  is almost impossible. It's best to maybe Ward an entrance to your Jungle

Level 1 you can be very VERY Aggressive with Q sorakaq.png & 2009.png
Walk up and start auto attacking the enemy, and when they respond to auto back, drop a Q sorakaq.png you will heal back the damage you took, and the slow will enable your ADC to hit them as well.
If the enemy has no CC ex(412.png53.pngetc) you should try to push this type of trade on them as much as possible early.

Laning Phase Back to Top

Laning for Soraka starts out with lots of poke from Q sorakaq.png and auto attacks, you want to try to maximize on the damage from Q sorakaq.png & auto attacks, but around 3:00 in game time you can expect a gank attempt so if the enemy starts walking into you be sure to quickly run. Your goal with the early damage is not to kill them, but to give yourself an advantage by having more Health and Mana than them, to deny CS or threaten the enemy bot lane off the wave, if you ever do try to kill your lane you will most likely have get through an 3.png & 7.png which you don't have the damage to do without the fight being very very extended

If you are not able what's listed above during levels 1-4 it's fine to just stand behind your ADC and Heal them

You should try to only back when you can get 3096.png

Then you get back to lane, and focus on sustaining your carry and avoiding ganks, you will spend a lot of time standing behind your ADC, during this time since you aren't doing anything with your Champion, you should be watching the mini map, and using the F keys ) F1,F2,F3, etc) to hover the camera over them to see how their lanes are doing, and if their lane opponents are missing.

Again don't worry about accomplishing anything in the laning phase, your job is to get through it with no deaths, and sustain your ADC

Mid Game Back to Top

During Mid Game Soraka's job stays the same to be behind ally carries, but you move around the map a lot more.

When moving from one lane to another, take  the safe around your Jungle
  • Red = Danger
  • Purple = Neutral
  • Blue = Safe
HRgupVM.jpg

You should always think about which path you should be taking since the most danger path is always going to be the quickest, but if you can take it or not changes based on where your Ally Champions are located and where the enemy Champions are located, so don't be walking around aimlessly or you give the enemy an opportunity to pick you off, which should never happen to Soraka

Other than that, watch the map to see if your allies are low and need your ULT sorakar.png
and again you should never be in position to get picked off, this will make all the difference.

Where you place your Wards should never be past the river, unless you are walking with your Jungler
See "Warding" Section for more

Late Game Back to Top

Late game your duties stay about the same but the punishment for doing the job incorrectly is much more severe

  • If you are warding past your own Jungle, walk with your Jungler
  • Don't push past danger points unless it is really, really necessary, most likely it's not worth have 5 people push up a mid wave at 40 minutes and be exposed from all angles.
  • Blow ULT sorakar.png on a whim if there is a fight happening across the map

You can NOT be wondering around the Map alone, always be walking behind someone, and ping them where you want them to go.

Most likely a lot of your games with devolve to both teams running down Mid lane aimlessly, if this is the case don't worry about it, be ready to assist with Healing and Peel as much as you can, but try to communicate to your team where they should be going, don't be forceful about it, and don't take to long to ping or type it, simply send out a suggestion and move on, you don't have time debate / argue about what the team should or shouldn't be doing.
  • When your team Wins a fight be ready to go to the next thing
  • When your team Loses a fight be ready to go to the net thing
Always be looking for the next thing to do on the map, but don't rush it if it's not necessary to.

Team Fighting Back to Top

Positioning

You should always, always be looking to stay behind your carries, any movement past them or into the enemy has to be very calculated or you give up to much distance to the enemy.

Items

You should be ready to USE the actives for the items that have it 3107.png3190.png3222.png if you don't use them, than buying the item in the first place is a waste of money, and when you do use them you gain a very significant advantage in fights, don't worry about using them correctly or incorrectly JUST USE THEM

Fights to take

  • If your team has the numbers advantage
  • If your team has better position on the enemy
  • If you 16.png are in a position to not get hit and heal

Healing Target Selection

In this order
  • ADC / Mid (which ever one is worth more gold)
  • Jungle
  • Top
This is obviously pretty general, but who you should be healing during every specific fight always changes throughout every game, generally though its better to use heals on carries so that they can stay alive in be dealing damage, but if they don't need the heal don't be afraid to use it on your front line, just be thinking about the cooldown of Heal sorakaw.png

Q & E

During fights be conscious of Soraka's sorakaq.png sorakae.png don't go out of your way to hit an enemy with a Q sorakaq.png remember Q sorakaq.png is more for kiting, and you don't have to drop sorakae.png at the start of fights, you can save it to use it against a more valuable target, or to stop the casting of a key enemy ability.

Pros and Cons Back to Top

Pros

  • Neutralizes the Bot Lane
  • Really annoying for the enemy team to deal with so many Heals
  • Global Heals with sorakar.png & 3107.png

Cons

  • Bad positioning means you instantly die
  • No tools to engage / run into the enemy
  • If played a lot you can gain the title " Soraka Player"

Warding Back to Top

3340.png
Warding with the 3340.png Warding Trinket

At the start of every game, your only options for warding before you get 2049.png Sightstone, is to use the 3340.png Warding Trinket.

The 3340.png Warding Trinket only gives you a 60 Second ward, that gives you a very small range of vision compared to a 2049.pngSightstone's Vison Ward.

The best way to make use of the Warding Trinket during the early laning phase, is to place it before the enemy jungler shows up, this will change every game depending on the enemy jungler, generally here are some good spots to trinket

Trinkets Outlined in Blue are for when you are on Blue Side
Trinkets Outlined in Red, hey you guessed it, are for when you are on Red Side.
Trinkets Outlined with both, work well on either side.

If you have full control over a lane, placing a trinket in the bot lane bushes isn't terrible as long as you play around the possibility of Gank timing windows properly.

Once you get Sightstone, you generally want to switch to Sweeper, but you can make use of the trinket wards in a very extended laning phase, but after say 20 minutes, you will most likely NEED to switch to sweeper or you will be walking through enemy wards the entire game.

So when you get Sightstone the ENTIRE game changes. There are ways you SHOULD use, and ways you CAN use it.

USING SIGHTSTONE EFFECTIVELY

Where to place a Sightstone Ward, has a LOT of  factors that go into why or when you should place a ward, hopefully, this makes it simpler:

When To place a Ward

  • If you know the enemy is likely to come from an area in 1-2 minutes.
  • If the enemy has the ability to jump over walls, ward over the wall they would come from ex (9.png64.png)
  • So you can spot enemy champions moving from one lane to another in the fog of war.

When not to place a ward

  • You are near a bush and there isn't a ward in it
  • When you are in a lane and afraid that someone is in that bush you are going to ward
  • When you already have vision of the target you are try to ward against

Mid - Late Game Warding

  1. Do you have advantage and 2-3 champions with you > get a ward in their jungle
  2. Is the game even / you have no ally champions to assist with deep warding > Ward river / entrances to your jungle
  3. Are you behind / multiple towers have fallen > Ward your Jungle.

Here are all easy Warding spots.

DO NOT WARD ALONE

Mid - Late game, you shouldn't be going on solo missions into the enemies side of the jungle to get a useless deep ward, only to find 5 champions and a gray screen. Anytime you want to get a ward on the enemies side of the map, ping your laners / jungler to assist you with walking into the enemy jungle, who knows you might find a solo member of the enemy team instead and be able to pick up an easy kill.
