While Syndra has already a lot of burst damage ignite gives you even higher kill/snowball potential. I would pick it if:
  • You are belove diamond so most of the time stomp lane = enemy ragequit/tilt/flame etc
  • You don't really like the other options
  • You are vs some heavy healing comp
  • You want to dominate your opponent

Nowaday Syndra is played with ghost in high elo. Ignite is not really usefull since people will always respect your damage, and the added mobility ghost gives might come handy. I would pick it if:

  • You actually like ghost as a summoner
  • You are used to use ghost (most of the people never used it so have no clue on how/when to use it)
  • You feel like the mobility could help you

3.png The 'Fuck Assassins' spell


Pretty much self explanatory. I would pick it if:

  • You are facing Zed/Fizz/Talon or similar champions 
  • You feel like your team could relly use an exhaust (e.g. vs riven/rengar)
  • You like this option the most

Again the title says it all, pick it vs Syndra/Lux/Twisted Fate and so on. Even more usefull if they are running a comp with an aggressive early jungler like Elise/Lee sin.

I do prefer Manaflow%20Band.png?width=32 because it gives you more freedom with your mana in lanephase. Also your ultimate has a really low cooldown later in the game. As Syndra you are really looking to stomp the enemy laner.

As Syndra everyone used to take ghost to chase out enemies and to dodge skillshots. I feel like particularly for her Celerity.png?width=32 is a better pick.

Viable Items to choose from

The best 'Raw Ap Damage item' in the game. You can build it at as your 3rd item after 3040.png and 3020.png and it will still be cost efficient. If you need something else you can build it even later on.


3135.png

The best value for money for every ap carry. I would recommend you to build it as your 3rd or 4th item. Depending on how much magic resist the enemy team has.

You might wanna build it as first item if you are having trouble vs champions like 1.png105.png45.png. Building it later into the game will still be efficient since his passive will help you staying safe from cc's.

You might wanna build it as first item if you are laning vs 238.png and you want to shout him down. Even if you don't want to complete this item as your first buy you could rush 3191.png and finish it later on. I would suggest you to buy this item only if you think you can make a good use of his active.

3916.png Is pretty good on syndra, adds a lot of damage to your kit. 3165.png Is still decent but sitting on 3916.png is often good.

If you are fed you know you want it. Ballsy buy, i won't recommend it but i'm also not against it.

  • Don't get caught by her crystallize.png - flashfrost.png
  • Harrass her with syndraq.png

Annie

Medium

You are Annie's counter. She has no range to match your syndraq.pngsyndraw.png harrass. After 6 you have to be a bit more carefull because a infernalguardian.pngincinerate.pngdisintegrate.png14.png can kill you.


  • You have advantage pre 6 so trade with her and harrass her.
  • At 6 you have the damage to kill her but you have to be cautious about her infernalguardian.png

VS

Aurelion Sol

Easy

Pretty easy matchup has he will farm, and you have a way better kit for 1v1.


  • Track and ping his roam
  • If you can't follow up (you probably will not be able to) fastpush the lane.
  • At 6 he's kinda a freekill

VS

Azir

Hard

Pure cancer to play against, you can still lane vs him but his range makes it hard to you to farm and trade.


At the moment he's totally out of meta and underpowered so thankfully you won't have to play vs him very often.

VS

Brand

Hard

Skill matchup, he has the range to match you but you have a better all in lv 6. Also your stun is easier to land than his.


  • Probably the only matchup were i would recommend starting 1001.png to dodge his brandw.png
  • Don't stand near your minions and push your lane as much as you can without going out of mana, this will force him to use spells on minions rather than harrassing you.
  • You HAVE TO dodge his brandq.png, if you get stunned even once you are in big trouble.
  • He is still immobile so setting ganks on him is pretty easy

VS

Cassiopeia

Medium

Skill matchup. The more cassiopeiaq.png you can dodge and the more syndraq.png you can land the easier the lane gets.


Remember that you can't flash out of his cassiopeiaw.png so be really carefull to not get caught in a bad spot

Corki

Easy

Easy matchup as long as you dodge his phosphorusbomb.png and you are rather precise with your syndraq.pngs


  • Carefull about his package and spam pings for your teammates 
  • His ggun.png can insta proc 6362.png so be aware of it
  • Don't get baited by 3155.png if he builds it

VS

Diana

Easy

Diana has received some buff and it's in a pretty good spot at the moment.


  • You are way stronger pre 6 and her only form of harrass is dianaarc.png
  • Being melee she has some trouble farming under tower. So push her out and keep harrassing
  • syndrae.png her dianateleport.png after 6 and you will be safe

VS

Ekko

Medium

Ekko is pretty annoying to deal with in the lanephase. You should aim to harrass him to get him low enough that he won't be risk getting on your face.


  • Push and care for his lv 2, if he manages to ekkoe.png ekkoq.png and proc his passive on you it will be quite dangerous.
  • Be aware of his ekkow.png casted from the fog of war
  • Don't waste your syndrae.png it's the only way you have to get him off you

VS

Fizz

Hard

This is a fine matchup early on, and if things go decent for the fish he will become a pain in the ass after lv 6.


  • Try to punish him early on
  • If he fizzq.png you don't panic and try to trade him back on his way out
  • fizze.png Can nullify your syndrar.png so take a mental note when it's on cd
  • If you get hit by fizzr.png you will be in trouble. A good fizz will dodge your syndrae.png with his fizze.png

VS

Galio

Medium

Galio is a pretty easy matchup unless you get caught into his cc's.


  • Dodge his galioq.png constantly. It deals quite a bit of damage
  • galioe.png galiow.png make a pretty deadly gank setup so be aware of his moves and be ready to flash it out if you feel there's a jungler around
  • Consider always his galiow.png 4.png engage, so if you see him charging his galiow.png be ready, there's high chance a flash and a jungler are coming
  • Track his roams after level 6 galior.png is quite a powerfull tool

VS

Karthus

Easy

You are pretty much karthus nightmare since you can match his range but you have way more damage.


  • His karthuslaywastea1.png deals double damage if it hits only 1 target. So if you can't dodge it atleast be sure to stay near your minions to take less damage. (i won't still recommend it but well if you are really bad at dodging this is still better than taking full damage)
  • karthuswallofpain.png is kinda an annoying slow, i would suggest you to syndraq.pngsyndrae.png disengage him, ususally if he use the wall it means someone is coming or he's approaching to 1v1 you. 
  • 30.png will almost always pick 3.png so consider it. Always.

VS

Kassadin

Medium

Easy matchup pre-6 will become harder after 6. Play iper aggressive before 6 to delay his power spikes. A Kassadin without items/levels is a pretty useless one.


  • nulllance.png Has a magic damage shield so he will mitigate some of your poke. If you can force him to use it to lasthit minions.
  • syndraq.png and auto him when he goes to lasthit, he's melee afterall
  • Don't ever get in melee fights with him his netherblade.png and his autos hurt a lot
  • After 6 depending on the builds you can still harrass him and kill him. Just be carefull because he has added mobility with his riftwalk.png



VS

Katarina

Medium

This matchup is pretty easy lanewise if you take a single rule.


  • DON'T WASTE YOUR syndrae.png. Simple as that. syndrae.png Is pretty much the only way to stop her katarinar.png or pre6 to stun her while moving away from her daggers.
  • Also be carefull about her roaming around, usually katas will win games by getting fed in sidelanes
That's about it, once you know that you should be able to stomp katas.

Kayle

Easy

Kayle is a pretty easy to deal with early on, he will become a bit more painfull after 1/2 items.


  • If she maxes judicatorrighteousfury.png her pushing power will become pretty huge after some levels/items
  • You can try to bait her judicatorintervention.png by threatening an all-in but waiting to cast your ult. (Something like syndraq.png-syndrae.png-syndraw.png wait)

VS

LeBlanc

Medium

Tricky/skill matchup, she has damage but she is also pretty squishy.


  • You can totally fuck her up by syndrae.png her leblancw.png . If you manage to do this consistently you will really ruin her day.

VS

Lissandra

Medium

Liss has a pretty simple and predictable kit, you have the upper hand but she can still be annoying.


  • Don't let her lissandraq.png you throught your minions (hitting a unit will extend the range of her lissandraq.png)
  • Carefull when she uses lissandrae.png aggressively, it could be a bait or it could be the enemy jungler coming to you
  • You could take 1.png in this matchup

VS

Lux

Medium

Lux has the range to match you but her cd's are way longer, and she can't farm well without spells aswell. Carefull about getting caught by her full combo tho.


  • Don't stand in your minions, let her choose on harrasing you or farming with her luxlightstrikekugel.png, not both.
  • Always respect her luxlightbinding.png and when it's on cd you know you can go a bit more aggressive
  • Respect her 4.png luxlightbinding.png aswell

VS

Malzahar

Medium

Malzhar used to be a difficoult matchup, now it's way easier since you can oneshot his minions with your syndraq.png or syndraw.png or autos. At level 6 you still have to be carefull tho


  • Keep your passive down by poking him (autos or syndraq.png) and keep damaging him so it won't get back up
  • Always kill his malzaharw.png. Each one gives you 2 golds, but more so it prevent malzhar push & roam.
  • Respect his 4.pngmalzaharr.png

VS

Morgana

Medium

You won't see morgana mid that often but when you do be aware of your superiority pre 6.

You have to get advantages pre 6 since after it, she will be a fair challenge for you.

  • Don't get caught by darkbindingmissile.png it last forever, so stay if possible always behind minions
  • Care for her 4.pngsoulshackles.png
  • Get an advantage early on if you are able to, after a while she will be strong enough to just push the lane and do her thing almost ignoring you

Orianna

Medium

Ori has just been hitted with some nerfs. This matchup used to be a skill one but still favoured on your side.


  • Harrass her early on and trade with her
  • Be really carefull about her orianadetonatecommand.png4.png it can catch you off guard
  • Don't get hit by multiples autos, her passive hurts a lot

VS

Taliyah

Medium

Taliyah is in a good spot at the moment, i still think you have a better 1v1 potential but if you get caught by her combo, well it's not going to be a good feeling.


  • Stay behind minions so her taliyahq.png won't hit you
  • Be really carefull of her taliyahwvc.png if it catches you, you will take a lot of damage (i would suggest an early 1001.png or even 3020.png buy)
  • Keep pressuring her after 6 and don't leave her space to roam with taliyahr.png

VS

Talon

Medium

You are stronger than him pre 6. After 6 you have to be a bit more carefull but nothing impossibile if you follow some steps.


  • Don't take unecessary damage from his talonw.png, he will use it to farm minions mostly 
  • Be carefull of his level 2, if for any reason you are low, back up and play safe healing with pots
  • Try to not ever be in range of his talonq.png, it's his only catch up tool
  • Rushing an early 3191.png might help

VS

Twisted Fate

Easy

Twisted Fate never used to be a strong laner, and this isn't changed. You are stronger 1v1 basically all game long.


  • Let him use pickacard.png on minions and after he does go a bit more aggressive since he has no way of trading efficently with you
  • Try if possible to not trade when his cardmasterstack.png is up
  • Always shove the lane after 6. If you get pushed in he will have time and space to destiny.png other lanes. If you negate him the possibility of doing that, you are doing a fantastic job

VS

Veigar

Medium

You are stronger early on, he get's stronger as time passes. If he goes for a tanky build with a 3065.png rush, just forget about killing him and pressure other lanes.


  • Don't get hit by his veigarbalefulstrike.png, let him use it on minions while you harrass him
  • Be carefull of his veigareventhorizon.png, and if needed don't hesitate to 4.png it out. 
  • After 6 he has way more damage with his veigarr.png up, so consider it

VS

Vel'Koz

Medium

Vel'Koz is another underpicked champion. You can match him but you have to deal with his high damage.


  • He has no mobility so he's a pretty easy target for your syndraq.pngsyndrae.png
  • Dodge his velkozq.png
  • You have to be on point on your dodging skills to not get hit by his velkoze.png
  • After level 6 being hit by his velkoze.png will result in certain death or a 4.png burnt

Viktor

Yasuo

Medium

Yasuo is tricky to deal with because a lot of people don't understand that your creeps gives him more possibility to fight you. Try to think about it, yasuo will often yasuodashwrapper.png creeps to close the distance to you, yasuoqw.png auto you and then yasuodashwrapper.png to another creep to escpape.

You can do 3 thing so:
  1. Don't approach him when your minions are alive (or atleast don't when more than 3 minions are alive)
  2. Be really precise with your syndrae.png even tho he could insta yasuowmovingwall.png it
  3. Be really precise with your syndraq.png & syndraw.png and straight up outtrade him
  • Also be really carefull of his level 2 powerspike, i would suggest you to don't even bother trading him before you have all 3 spells (so before level 3)
  • Rushing an early 3191.png might help

VS

Zed

Hard

You are the stronger laner, but he get's really strong after level 6.


  • Be carefull of not getting hit by his zedw.pngzede.pngzedq.png combo, if you do it will chunk you pretty badly, and also you will take damage from his 6362.png
  • If you are somewhat low he can do the same combo as before but he can also teleport to the zedw.png that he casted near you. Be ready for it and always take that in mind
  • After 6 you need to have your exhaust up for his zedr.png. If he pokes you don't to less than half hp your exhaust won't do anything so i suggest you to just back
  • Rushing an early 3191.png might help

VS

Ziggs

Medium

Ziggs is a farming machine, and he has a lot of aoe damage for teamfights. You are still way stronger 1v1, but you have to be carefull about his damage.


  • Don't get hit by ziggsq.pngs and don't stand near your minions. You will get hit by ziggsq.png explosion if you do
  • Be really carefull about roaming around, ziggs can push and take your turret really fast with his passiv eand his ziggsw.png
  • Try to setup ganks for him, if he's behind he's basically a running freekill

VS

Zilean

Medium

You are stronger than him pre6 and he has no all in potential. After 6 things get more interesting since you won't be able to instaget him.


  • zileanq.png Is his only damage spell. So well as long as you don't get hit by it, you are totally fine
  • He has a really awful waveclear early on and also a slow auto attack animation, try to push him under tower.
  • Be carefull about his doule zileanq.png, if you get hit by that it will hurt.
  • Don't understimate his timewarp.png slow, he can be a pretty deadly gank setup for the enemy jungler

  • It has a pretty low manacost and deals a lot of damage
  • Can be the setup for a multi sphere ult

  • You can grab enemy minions/monsters/enemy's pet (e.g. tibbers/daisy/malz voids etc)
  • You can also use it to grab camps from the enemy jungler
  • It also slows the enemy for 1.5 secs making it easier to land other spells

Syndra E.png

  • Your hard CC, use it to knocks your spheres into the enemy, stunning them for 1.5 seconds
  • You can also use it to stop enemy from dashing into you
  • It also deals a good amount of damage so don't be scared of using it to finish off a target

  • The 'You Got Outplayed' Syndra skill
  • It has an high base damage, but he get's even higher the more spheres you have on the ground
  • Most of the time a 'Death Sentence' for their carries

Combos & Tips Back to Top

syndrae.png & syndraq.png The 'Unseen Stun'


 
As you can see in the video, you have to cast your syndrae.png first and then syndraq.png (it has to be casted at the edge of the syndrae.png range to work) as fast as you can.

  • It's really hard to see it coming
  • It's faster than a normal syndraq.png syndrae.png combo
  • Most of the time enemys will get caught offguard
  • It's even more effective when the enemy is behind a wall without vision of you

syndraw.png & syndrae.png The 'Other Unseen Stun'




It's the same combo as before but this time you will use your syndraw.png. So grab a sphere, syndrae.png and then syndraw.png at the very edge of your E range

  • Most of the time enemys will get caught offguard
  • Faster than a normal syndraw.png syndrae.png combo
  • Pretty usefull if for any reason you have your syndraq.png on cd with some spheres still on the ground

syndrar.png The 6 Spheres 



This will add more damage to your combo, it's pretty easy to do as you can see. No particoular level/cdr cap is requested. You just have to syndraw.png your first syndraq.png and recast syndraw.png to drop it on the ground in order to reset his lifespan.

  • Literally more damage than a normal syndrar.png

syndrar.png The 7 Spheres



You NEED your syndraq.png at max rank and you also need just a bit of cdr (The more you have the easier it would be to pull it off without messing with the timings).

  • Syndra ult has an hardcap on 7 spheres
  • This is the max damage output your ult can get

General Tips


  • syndraq.png Will instaclear caster minions with enough ap
  • Use syndraw.png on a minion syndraq.png syndrae.png in succession to clear waves faster
  • syndrae.png Is pretty usefull to push away aoe ults such as Fiddlestick's crowstorm.png 
  • syndrae.png Is pretty usefull to also stop some abilities from channeling like destiny.png

  •  syndrar.png & syndrae.png The 'Almost Sona ult'
Using your syndrae.png after your ult will cause you spheres to go all over the place causing an aoe stun of all the enemies in front of you. This is pretty usefull in teamfights

  • syndraw.png On infernalguardian.png ivernr.png malzaharw.png The 'WTF Killed me'
Those 'pets' will return to the owner when they are out of a certain range. If the enemy champion owning the 'pet' is low enough you can do a small fun trick getting a freekill. Let's take for example a low hp 1.png with a summoned infernalguardian.png (tibbers) :
  • Press syndraw.png to grab infernalguardian.png
  • Move far away, be sure that annie is out of range of her infernalguardian.png
  • Recast syndraw.png on the ground away from annie
This will make tibbers re-appear at annie's location but dealing your syndraw.png damage. It's a rare occasion 'combo' but it can lead to some unexpected kills

What's Syndra Role?


  • Syndra is a bursty AP Mage. She has absurd single target damage and a pretty mediocre aoe damage

What's the plan early game?


  • Your task is to dominate the lanephase, either by killing the enemy or by outfarming them
  • If for any reason you cant kill your opponent you can choose to roam
  • Syndra has a pretty strong early game/lanephase

What's the plan mid game?


  • Syndra has a pretty strong midgame
  • If you are decently fed you can instagib almost anyone with her syndrar.png 
  • Syndra is soo good in skirmishes (2v2-3v3) so don't be afraid to fight 
  • Syndra can catch people out of position with her syndrae.png syndraq.png

Your task late game and teamfights


  • Syndra has a not so great lategame. She can still be usefull tho
  • If you see an enemy carry out of position don't hesitate to pull the trigger syndrar.png
  • Use the 'Almost sona ult' combo (explained on the previous chapter) in every teamfight syndrar.png & syndrae.png*
  • Peel for your adc if he's fed and you can't find any decent target to blow syndrar.png
