Summoner Spells Back to Top

Flash and exhaust preferred. Tahm is a slow mofo, so you need exhaust to catch up to your enemy and apply your passive. Also makes hitting your Q easier.

Masteries Back to Top

- Runic Armour mastery does increase Tahm's heal from his E, not sure about the shield though. Someone test it out and tell me if it increase tahm's shield or not.
- Nerf to Grasp of the Undying and Tahm's damage makes Bond of Stone a better choice now since his playstyle changes to peeling now, rather than going ham.

Max Q > W > E and Ult when it's available. Your ult and W does massive amount of damage. So when you hit lvl.6, put a point into ult and Q the opponent. This can take out 10% of their hp.

Passive: Any damaging skill from Tahm applies a "fish stack" to the opponent. Stack disappear after 5 seconds if Tahm does not damage the opponent. Stacks also disappear after opponent is swallowed.
- Stacks change color from Green >> Yellow >> Red after every hit. The first two stacks does nothing, the third stack when the fish is red mean your Q will stun them or you can eat the opponent
- Tahm's Q, W, and Basic Attack will apply a "fish stack"
Fish Stack.png
________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Q: This is your tongue thing that slows opponent. Also applies your passive stack along with your basic attack.
- Try not to spam it too often that you run out of mana. Try to keep around 120-160 mana at all time unless you're going in for a kill
- You can use your Q while having someone inside your stomach.
- **On the third "fish stack", your Q will stun them**
________________________________________________________________________________________________________
W: Simple enough, use it to save your ally. But in lane, your W does a million damage so try to use it on their adc as often as possible unless your ADC is <20% hp. This move cost a lot of mana so don't use it too often.
- **You can only eat your enemy if you apply the third "fish stacks" on them**
- W doesn't do much damage at lvl 1 and is a waste of mana. Try using it as seldom as possible in the early game.
- Save it to save your fed teammate in teamfight. Don't use it on the tank or the non-fed teammate because the cooldown is quite long.
- Do NOT use W to swallow minions to harass. Save it to save your ally or swallow the enemy only. Only swallow minions if the enemy went to base and you need to help your ADC push the lane
- This move does 32% of enemy max HP as magic damage when maxed out plus the bonus damage that you get from your ult's passive. That's like 1/4 of the squishies hp with magic resist in effect.
- **Eating your opponent will remove all of their "fish stacks" after you spit them out**
- **Ticking skills will still damage your ally even if they're inside your stomach**
Ex. Ignite, Zed's Marking, Vlad's Ult, Mord's Ult, etc...
- DON'T EVER EAT YOUR TANK UNLESS IT'S A MUST! Even if you're tank is low don't eat them, save it for the squishies in the fight. The tank's job is to take the damage so if they die then they did their job. You need to save your W to save your squishy adc for the constant damage not the tank.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________
E: When you're damaged, the amount of HP you just lost are converted into a grey bar to show how much HP you lost. You can activate E to convert all those grey bar into a shield that decay over time. The more shield you have, the faster the shield will decay. Don't activate it just because you got hit. The grey bar will eventually heal you back 20%-44% of the hp lost after 2.5s of not taking damage, so let it restore your hp if you're not going to go all in.
- Only activate your E if you're about to die or take massive damage from a powerful skill.
- After you activate your E(Shield), you will NOT generate any grey bar while your E is on cooldown.
________________________________________________________________________________________________________
R: Passive gives you damage based on your max hp. The activation could be used for ganks or escape, but will stop if you're damaged. The only practical use I find with it is: Ulting back to lane with your ADC, ulting to drag, ulting to a spot to save an ally, ulting to gank. But REMEMBER that you cannot use your W 3 seconds after you ult to a destination.
 - ULT passive adds additional magic damage to your abilities and attack by % of your max HP. This includes Q, W, and Basic Attacks. So stack Health.
- You can get about 160-200 bonus on-hit magic damage  at max build

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

    1.) Starting Item
2.) Get Sightstone first if have enough $$. Otherwise upgrade support item. Get a pink too if you have spare change.
3.) Finish your support item -> get boot and upgrade.
    Get most of the time
Get if they have lots of CC
Get if they have lots of slow and you don't want to spend a lot on boot. Not my prefered choice
4a.) Can build into Dead Man's Plate or Randuin: Belt-->Cloth Armour
4a.1.) Get most of the time (See Notes)
4a.2.) If two or more opponent build crits
4B.) Can be turned to Spirit Visage or Locket: If their AP are fed
4b.1.) If 2 or more of them deal AP damage
4b.2.) If ~one~ of their ap is fed (See Notes)

Core Items

5a.) For team with lots of AD---Can replace Spirit Visage with Warmog
5b.) If they have a lot of AP
5c.) If their AP does no damage. Can replace Sunfire with Randuin

Situational Items

Price increased. I rarely ever get this. Get if they have 3 strong AA champs in the same game: Jax, Vayne, Yi, Fiora, and other ADC...
The damage!!! If you're fed, you'll be stronger than your ADC
IDK, I've never gotten this before because the other items are just better
You can replace Dead Man's Plate with randuin if needed (See Notes)
Can replace Spirit Visage if their ap doesn't do % hp damage

3047.pngGet most of the time

3111.pngIf they have a lot of CC (stuns, snares, slows...)

3009.pngGet if you're on a budget or the enemy have lots of slow and few other CC. I prefer the other boots though.

3742.pngI get this most of the time. Unless they have 2 or more champs that build crit, then i get randuin.

3143.pngGet if they have 2 or more champ that are building Crit and Atk Speed
Champs Includes: Vayne, Kalista, Jinx, Tryndamere, Yi, Yasuo, other ADC's, etc...

3110.pngGet if they have three(3) or more auto-attacking champs
Champs Includes: Yi, Jax, Fiora, Warwick, Trundle, Xin Zhao, other ADCs, etc...

3068.pngCan get if you're fed and want to hug all the kills to yourself

3190.pngGet and upgrade to this most of the times if they have two(2) or more AP on their team. Don't even count champs like Soraka, Janna, and Blitz as AP damage because they do no damage.
Don't forget that these champs also do AP damage: Ezreal, Kogmaw, Mundo, Tahm Kench, Corki, etc...

3065.pngGet if they have only one(1) strong AP damager that doesn't have a lot of AOE ability. Spirit visage DOES increase the health restored from your E.

3800.pngEw, wtf is this? This is ugly.

Example of when to get Frozen Heart 3110.png. They got 3 auto-attacking champs (Grave, Xin Zhao, and Jax). I didn't get Randuin because only one of them is building Crit (Grave). I got Locket 3190.png even though they have only one AP damager because their AP damager (Rumble) does alot of AoE (Area of Effect) damage.

VS

Alistar

Medium
12.pngJust keep some space between you and your adc so you can save her when Ali goes in. You don't want to be knocked up along with your adc.

VS

Ashe

Medium

She's really hard to catch up to because of her perma slow; applying your passive will be hard, but if you hit your Q, you might have a chance to go in and kill her.

VS

Bard

Medium

He's just really annoying and poke you constantly behind minions. You can't catch up to him. You're gonna go in then go ham. If not then just play passive and poke with your Q while trying to avoid Bard's attacks.

VS

Blitzcrank

Medium
53.pngHe's tanky and he does damage. It just depend on how good your dodging skills are and how good the blitz is. Gotta be careful not to eat your ally early because you can be pulled instead, taking your ADC with you.

VS

Brand

Hard
63.pngHis poke is insane and he can make your health goes from 100 to 0 real fast. Just avoid getting near him and play safe for the early part of the game. YOu can destroy him in later game.

VS

Braum

Hard
201.pngThis guy counters you. You can never apply your passive on their adc because you're stunned from Bruam's passive before you can stun/eat their adc. His shields blocks all your Q and you wouldn't want to eat this guy anyway.
- How annoying he is depends on if the opponent's ADC is good or not, following up his stuns
- A good Braum vs a good Tahm, the Braum will win (not in 1v1 though)

VS

Caitlyn

Easy
51.pngEat your ally when Cait use her ult. Ult wasted. Your Q with ult passive can do a lot of damage to her.

VS

Janna

Easy
40.pngJanna is squishy and easy to kill. You can try to lure out her shield

VS

Karma

Hard

Can't catch up to her or her ADC. Her speed up also makes it hard to hit your Q.

VS

Leona

Medium
89.pngKeep a distance from your ally so you don't get stuck in Leona's ult. Eat ally if they're caught.

VS

Morgana

Medium
25.pngShe can stop you from eating her ally with her black shield. Eat your ally if they're snared. Back off if you can't dodge her Q.

VS

Nami

Easy

Just don't get near her and let your ADC farm up. If she comes close just Q and run away, but preferably avoid her because you don't want her to get her hit heal. Only fight if your ADC is going all in. Play passive for early part of the game.

VS

Sona

Easy
37.pngOne hit from your Q at with ult passive at level 6 should be able able to take 20% of her hp. She can't outdamage you because you're too tanky and E will heal back most of the damage.

VS

Soraka

Easy
16.pngJust keep your distance and dodge her Q and it should be easy kill. Sorakas are usually very squishy

VS

Taric

Medium
44.pngHe's hard to kill, also make his ADC hard to kill. I usually play passive against this guy and only fight if I have to.

VS

Thresh

Easy
412.png Just eat your ally if they're hooked, thresh aint got nothing on you. If he come enar then Q him. Just make sure you don't eat your ally before the hook because if it hits you, you'll be taking your ADC with you in your stomach.

VS

Vayne

Hard

A good Vayne can kite you to death no matter what. Her % hp and kiting skills are too much for Tahm to handle.  You can kill an average Vayne though as long as you hit your Q.

VS

Zed

Easy
238.pngEat ally before he apply Deathmark and the mark will not be applied.
      - If Deathmark is applied, eat your ally and will not be damaged by the Deathmark as       long as they're in your stomach
      - Your W does NOT remove the Deathmark, only the damage

Notes (Recommend Reading) Back to Top

--Read the Aurthor's Note in the Abilities section for more detail on how to use the abilities.

* Nerf to Grasp of the Undying and Tahm's damage changed his playstyle alot. He's can't be played like a top laner anymore (meaning you can't go too ham). Your playstyle now is to peel for your ally by eating them when they get jumped.

* DON'T EVER EAT YOUR TANK UNLESS IT'S A MUST! Even if you're tank is low don't eat them, save it for the squishies in the fight. If you eat your tank then there will be no one to tank the damage for your squishies. The tank's job is to take the damage so if they die then they did their job. You need to save your W to save your squishy adc for the constant damage not the tank.

* I only pick Tahm if they have assassins or someone who can burst your squishies. If they don't then it's better to play other support such as Braum or Blitz.

Lvl.6 is Tahm's power spike since his ult gives him a ton of damage. After hitting 6, try to harass their adc with your Q. You should do at least 10% of their hp per hit, sometime 20% if they have no MR.
The nerf on his ult reduce his ult damage by half in the recent patch. Going all in at level 6 isn’t the best idea right now.

People underestimate Tahm too much. Tahm at lvl.6 can 1v1 enemy's adc. Just make sure you land all your Q and eat them as often as possible. If you eat them, keep them inside your stomach until your Q cd finishes, so you can spit>Q>auto-attack. And use E(Shield) when you're low. If you killed and enemy and no one else is near you, then don't use E(shield) and just let the passive restore back your missing hp unless you're about to die to minions.

 - Do NOT try to 1v1 their ADC in a minion wave because those creeps can block your Q and do damage if you get hit by too many creeps. Also, you might accidently eat a minion instead of your opponent. Unless you're fed or in mid-game where minions don't hurt anymore, then go right ahead and kill their adc.
 - You can also 1v1 most junglers including Xin Zhao, only if you know how to juke, kite, and use your stuns correctly. Don't try to fight them alone unless you know you're going to win.

* Play passive before lvl.6 and try not to Q too often wasting mana because you don't do much damage before 6. After 6, you can start using your Q to harass the opponent more often. Try to keep at least 160 mana just in case you get ganked or need to use your full combo.

Honestly, you can play Tahm like a top laner rather than a support because he does so much damage. Most of the time the opponent focus your ADC and not realizing that you're killing them faster then they'd expected, unless you know your ADC can't run away and will die, save your ADC instead of trying to kill your opponent.

* Don't be scared to use your ult to get back in lane. It's even better if your ADC is also at base with you and can hitch along. Well, what I mean is don't try to save your ult because you'll end up never using it and that'll be a waste. So if you need to get to somewhere fast then use your ult, even if it's not a gank.
