Summoner Spells Back to Top

4.png  Flash is a very important spell on most champions and it helps Tahm out a lot with securing kills and escaping because he does not have any quick mobility. Take this spell unless you would prefer ghost.

12.png Teleport is usually taken if you are going to play Tahm top or sometimes mid. It gives you great global pressure and combined with your ult you can quickly gank a lane with it then ult back to your lane. I take this spell when I play mid and top most of the time.

11.png If you are playing jungle this spell is necessary. nothing more to say about it.

3.png Usually a good idea to take this when playing support. Use it when chasing down enemy carries and to reduce there damage.

6.png Try this out in norms before using it in ranked, it's a good sub for flash. try it top and jungle.

Masteries Back to Top

Cunning Tree

Wanderer - It helps with getting around because you have slow movement speed.

Assassin - Take this when you are in a solo lane.

Runic affinity - Take this when jungling.

Secret stash - Take this when you are support.

Meditation - It will help with keeping your mana up good support mastery.

Bandit - Take this if you think you are going to have a hard time farming or are support.

Dangerous Game - Take this if you're jungle or don't think farming is going to be hard.

Green father gift - Extra surprise damage if you've been in a bush, helpful to trade better.

Resolve Tree

Recovery - Extra hp regen is good on Tahm.

Unyielding - This is also a good option on Tahm, take it if you're going to be stacking resistances.

Tough Skin - Helpful early on in the game for taking less harass.

Wanderer - I prefer this solely because i like roaming and counter jungling quite a bit.

Runic Armor - This is very good when stacking hp and buying things like spirit visage and warmogs.

Veterans Scars - This one is also pretty good but is more for the early game.

Perseverance - The regen is very helpful.

Swiftness - Tenacity is very good on Tahm, you're probably gonna eat a lot of cc.

key stones

Grasp of the Undying - Take this when going top or mid. It's very strong late game when you have +5000hp.

Courage of the Colossus - Only take this if you can reliably get hard cc off on someone in a team fight, other wise the other two keystones are your friends

Bond of Stone - Take this when support because you're going to be taking a lot of poke damage.

This is how you should max your abilities most of the time.

tahmkenchpassive.png Acquired taste (Passive) - When you damage an enemy champion with an attack or ability it applies a stack of Acquired taste. When you get 3 stacks on an enemy champion your tongue lash (Q) and devour (W) have extra effects.

tahmkenchQ.png Tongue lash (Q) - This is your main harass tool. it's ranged, easy to hit and slows enemies. If the enemy champion has 3 stacks of acquired taste (passive), this ability will stun them.  This ability will hit the first enemy hit in a line. It will take some practice getting used to landing this ability because it seems to hit the first thing anywhere near it.

tahmkenchW.png Devour (W) - This ability is where the bulk of your damage will come from. It does a large portion of the enemies maximum health as magic damage. you can only use this ability on allied champions to help chase enemy opponents or get them out of sticky situations. you can cast this on enemy minions and small neutral monsters and shoot them out dealing aoe damage to the first thing hit (can't shoot minions/ monsters over walls). if an enemy champion has 3 stacks of acquired taste (passive) then you can eat them. when you eat an enemy champion it reduces your speed by 95% and you cant flash, teleport or use your ult (you can still attack and use abilities however). sunfire cape will continuously do damage to enemies that are inside of you.

tahmkenchE.png Thick Skin (E) - only use this ability if you are about to die, otherwise just leave the gray health up to regen a large portion of your missing hp back. using this ability is like going in for round 2, it gives you a second health bar.

tahmkenchR.png Abysal Voyage (R) - This is similar to a twisted fate ultimate but with the perk of bringing a friend along if you want. click once on where you want to go then either wait for an ally to hop in or recast to go alone. you can cancel this ability by right clicking and it will go on a 10 second cool down.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

i prefer to take corrupting potion, but honestly the other 2 options are fine as well and add to your passive damage

Core Items

    get these items every game.
    my typical build
this is the only good elixir on tahm
get one of these, if vs lots of aa get ninja tabi, if vs lots of cc and ap then get mercs, if you want 40% cdr get ionia boots

Situational Items

these are some other magic resist options banner for seiging locket for the extra shield banshees for the shield
    secondary armor options
health options sightstone if team wont ward warmogs for insane sustain protobelt for the dash hydra for the aoe and aa reset
    avoid these items
    avoid these as well
potential ap items (only buy these in norms)
guardian angel, basically another shot at a team fight plus more resistances. zzrot for obnoxious split pushing and resistances
I will add pre-season update items in soon

Top build

I typically start with a  2033.png unless it's an easy matchup where i might want to take ring or shield.

Usually you want to farm until you can you have enough gold for a 3751.png bami's cinder. If you are vs an ap top laner with a lot of harras, a 3211.png specters cowl is a good item to rush. either of these items will help you quite a bit and increase your damage significantly. Your core items are3068.png3065.png. These items will give you a lot of hp. For boots u can get 3158.png3111.png3009.png or 3047.png . Build other items based on the enemy team comp, my suggested build up there is very strong vs a team with mixed amount of damage.

Jungle and Support build will be added soon

VS

Aatrox

Easy

Pre 6 aatrox can hit hard and has a lot of sustain vs you. its not usually a good idea to fight him unless you have your tahmkenchW.png available.

VS

Azir

Hard

This one is hard unless the Azir messes up or you just get tanky enough that he can't kill you. Be careful of his wall

VS

Blitzcrank

Easy

play passive pre-6 and think of taking thick skin second. if he grabs you that means you're probably very close to their carry, go ham on there carry and then kill the blitz

VS

Darius

Medium

as long as you dont get hit by his Q at max range and ur shield, you can out damage him and beat him pretty hard. when fighting him, try to stay close to him so that he cant get Q damage off, ur shield should protect u from the bleeds after hes dead

VS

Dr. Mundo

Easy

you both can't really kill each other after you have items. but you win the early game because of your tahmkenchW.png and your stun

VS

Fiora

Medium

very annoying matchup, best build path is to stack hp. she'll probably get a black cleaver early and she does true dmg. try to bait out her riposte before you use Q.  as long as she doesn't get all of her ult vitals you should be fine

VS

Gangplank

Hard

hes just very hard to deal with throughout the whole game. his oranges let him escape your devour and your stun, he does true damage, can ignore armor with barrels and has crazy poke with his Q not to mention his gloabl ult. the best thing you can do is kill his barrels before his Q hits them then try to trade with him.

VS

Gnar

Medium

This match up is can be harder or easier depending on how experienced you are at Kench and your ability to dodge skill shots. If you manage to get a kill early on, you can snowball this lane very hard and won't be able to fight you 1v1. Gnar can be annoying to fight because of his mobility and ranged harass, but if you get a stun on him, it's pretty much an auto win for you. be careful of him in mega gnar form, he gets hard cc and gets tankier.

VS

Graves

Hard

unless the graves is insanely bad or lagging, you will probably lose this. i do not recommend picking tahm into graves. he lifesteals, kites rly easily and bursts hard, plus sustained damage and he pushes way harder then you

VS

Heimerdinger

Medium

play incredibly passive, he's going to be very annoying and the last thing you want is for him to get ahead. just get some early mr and maybe a banner of command. you can eat his turrets and spit them out.

VS

Illaoi

Hard

this is my least favorite match up. she will dominate you the whole game. she has crazy sustain and her E is very annoying and hard to deal with. you can probably beat her in a 1v1 around level 11 or later though

VS

Jax

Medium

you both scale very hard into late game. you get stronger first, but after about lvl 16, he'll start beating you in 1v1s.

VS

Malphite

Easy

this match up is fairly easy but its hard to get solo kills on him.

VS

Nasus

Easy

unless he gets 4k stacks you win this 100% of the time

VS

Poppy

Medium

she will punish you for going anywhere near a wall and is very hard to kill. Let her waste cooldowns before fighting her

VS

Quinn

Hard

This champion roams better than you, moves a lot faster than you, does more damage than you, has a slow and mobility and of course a blind. very annoying to deal with but not impossible. Try to farm as much as you can, wait for her to make an overly aggressive trade and turn on her.

VS

Riven

Medium

this matchup is easy in lower elos (trust me) but as the riven mains acutally get good, this matchup gets harder. however, since tahm is stronger earlier now, as soon as she messes up you win. Your level 2 cheese is also better then hers if she doesn't dodge ur Q.

VS

Talon

Easy

he can't kill you no matter how hard he tries unless he gets a 2 man gank

VS

Teemo

Easy

poisen and shrooms are annoying. other then that have fun eating this little devil

VS

Trundle

Hard

his kit just counters basically every tank in the game. you can't fight him in a 1v1 sometimes not even in 2v1

VS

Udyr

Medium

unless the udyr is very behind, it's very hard to solo kill him

VS

Vladimir

Easy

bully him and then bully him more. you can kill him easy as long as u dont let him heal up

VS

Zed

Easy

Same as talons matchup, he can't kill you no matter how hard he tries unless he has help

Level 2 cheese Back to Top

As the name implies, it's kind of cheesy. All you need to perform this cheese are your tahmkenchQ.png, your tahmkenchW.png and maybe 4.png or 6.png depending on what you took. This cheese works extremely well vs champs that love to harass you and have to get in tongue lashes range to do it. Basically, you wait for said enemy champion to poke or harass you with an ability, you then press Q or AA then Q them. As long as you get the slow and the stack off your doing good. Instead of backing off like the enemy would think you would do, you just keep going and hitting them with basic attacks until you got 3 stacks on him. Now heres what you can do, you can A press Q to stun them, get 2-3 more AA in on them and then press W and run back towards your tower (important that you drop them away from minions) or B just press W, run back towards ur tower then press Q and AA some more. Option A is the better of the 2 but sometimes you need to use option B.

This will usually result in an easy kill, usually first blood and leaving the enemy top laner thinking "what the hell just happened". i have found that it usually tilts them pretty hard, extra tilt if you drop a mastery emote. Now that you're ahead in lane by a bit, you might be a target to jungle ganks, so keep that in mind because you don't move very quickly. If the enemy got tilted from that, they'll probs try to redeem themselves and just end up dieing over and over again. After your a little bit ahead, you can probably tower dive them and kill them over and over which will tilt them super hard.

I'll post a video of this cheese soon, but in the meantime i'll just explain a scenario.
Tahm Kench vs Riven (fairly common in my plat games)

riven will almost always take Q first and then either her shield or her stun, but it will probably be her stun because she's trying to cheese you as well from my experiences. Riven will probably also hit level 2 before you because of her Q. It's better that she hit 2 before you then to take unnecessary damage.
You now hit level 2, stand around your caster minions, make sure you have all of your abilities up. Try to make her use her Q, the easiest way to do this is to walk up to the melee minions to cs. Just back away from them when she Qs. 90% of the time she will try to hit you with her third Q hit. As soon as you that animation coming towards you, use your Q then start AA and following her. Doesn't matter if she stuns your or dashes away, just keep following until you stun her, she is in her tower range, or her jungler came. Her Q at rank one has a longer cooldown then yours which means you should easily be able to stun her, then eat her. She'll probably die or blow flash, if she flashes and is 1 AA away from death, flash after her and spam your mastery and laugh emote.
