Summoner Spells Back to Top

I've seen some people take Teleport due to Talon's weak laning phase, but I still think Ignite is better.

I prefer Q max second over E max second as it gives more burst and allows for the " Ghostblade E - AA cancel Q - W tiamat - R wait until another Q comes up" Combo.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

I take this vs champion with weak or outplayable early games. Ex. Annie, Veigar
I take this is in rough matchups.

Core Items

    Rush Ghostblade.
Buying either Mobis or Swifties is completely dependent on what you prefer as a player. Mobis offers more pick potential and helps your stealth ult get more range. Swifties give you slower but more consistent movespeed. I personally prefer Mobis because I love picking people out and I think Talons E and W slow are enough to stick to someone so the consistent movespeed is useless.
If I'm vs double AP or am having a hard time in an AP lane I buy MAW 3rd, If not I just buy black cleaver. Scimitar is also an option vs champions with hard CC or Zed. Always purchase black cleaver>duskblade third.
Only build this when you really need to shred a tank, as it isn't really gold efficient and pretty bad to be honest.

VS

Akali

Medium

You can buy pinks to counter her akalismokebomb.png.

If played properly you should be able to out burst her at level 6, keep in mind that her akalishadowdance.png makes it so she goes behind you which may make only one of your talonrake.png land.

VS

Anivia

Hard

Very annoying matchup, her passive is usually up and even when its not she has her annoying Q and W.

Roam and make the best of mid game skirmishes.

VS

Annie

Easy

If played well you can kill her before 6, after 6 just destroy her when her passive is down.

VS

Azir

Medium

Play safe pre 6 and farm under turret. You can burst him down level 6 fairly easily if you get your W and R off, try widdling him down a little with some trade before.

VS

Brand

Easy

One shot at 6.

VS

Cassiopeia

Easy

Outplayable before 6, her ulting will only save her if she has flash after 6.

VS

Cho'Gath

Hard

Very hard and annoying to kill but can be done if expertly played.

Roam and make the best of mid game skirmishes.

VS

Diana

Hard

Hard to 1v1 because of her high burst and W shield but still possible.

VS

Ekko

Hard

Hard to kill after 6 because of his ult and you'll lose most trade pre 6 unless you dodge his q.

Roam and make the best of mid game skirmishes.

VS

Fizz

Medium

Easy one shot if his E's down. A trick I like to do is E - AA Q - then wait for him to E, then throw my W and R

VS

Heimerdinger

Easy

Play safe and farm before 6, one shot after.

VS

Jayce

Easy

Dodge his poke and one shot him.

VS

Karma

Easy

Before going in for the kill keep her shield and stun in mind.

VS

Karthus

Easy

YUMMY IN MY TUMMY ONE SHOT THIS FOOL

VS

Katarina

Hard

She just outtrades you with her manaless poke.

Roam and make the best of mid game skirmishes.

VS

Kayle

Hard

Very hard to kill her 1v1 because of her ult, Roam and make the best of mid game skirmishes.

VS

LeBlanc

Medium

Play super safe with a sorrupting potion pre 6, one shot her after.

VS

Lissandra

Hard

A popular counter, Roam and make the best of mid game skirmishes. Her ult is on a longer CD then yours so you can look for opportunities to kill her while its down.

VS

Lulu

Hard

Hard to kill because of her AIDS kit. Roam and make the best of mid game skirmishes.

VS

Lux

Medium

If you're skilled you can E her Q, but before you do keep in mind she has her W shield and probably a barrier too.

VS

Morgana

Easy

get QSS for her unreal stun, one shot her immobile booty

VS

Orianna

Easy

one shot 6 when shes out of position.

VS

Syndra

Easy

One shot her at 6

VS

Twisted Fate

Easy

One shot when his Gold card is down.

VS

Veigar

Easy

Buy QSS if you can't dodge out of his E, one shot.

VS

Vel'Koz

Easy

Very easy one shot once you stick onto him

VS

Viktor

Easy

level 6 baby

VS

Vladimir

Hard

A popular counter to assassins, Roam and make the best of mid game skirmishes.

VS

Xerath

Easy

His e is quite annoying but other then that a very easy one shot. buy qss if you really need too.

VS

Yasuo

Medium

Annoying before 6 if he's good. (99% of Yasuos suck.)

You can kill him once his passive and windwall are down after 6.

VS

Zed

Medium

Get QSS 3rd, try to get him to ulti first before you do so he can't dodge your W and R with his ult.

VS

Ziggs

Easy

easy one shot

COMBOS and mechanics. Back to Top

Basic Combo:

Ghostblade E - AA cancel Q -  W Tiamat R.

Escape Combo:

If you have enough damage to kill your enemy without closing your ult, you can use this for a nice escape.

Ghostblade E - AA cancel Q - w Tiamat R - Run! - R

Stealth Combo:

Ghostblade R - E - AA cancel Q - If they're still alive save your W for when they panic flash or use a displacement ability.

Displacement Combo:

Use this if you're vs a champion with blinks or dashes. Ex: Zed, Ezreal, ect.

Ghostblade E - AA cancel Q - R - save your W for when they blink/dash then - W Tiamat

E'ing a linear skillshot or dash ability:

Learning this mechanic can help you outplay a lot of matchups like Lux, Morgana, Ahri ect.

Teamfights Back to Top

You're doing decent:

If you're only doing decent and can't really 1v3 you can play the teamfight like a true assassin and wait for a squishy to be out of position then jumping on him for the one shot.

If you're ahead:

If you're ahead like you should be if you read my guide, 4.png taloncutthroat.png onto a squishy and try to hit your talonrake.pngtalonshadowassault.png on as many people as possible, you should get a triple at least.

If you're behind:

If you're behind but your team is doing good, you can do a tactic I like to call the "suicide bomber." The premise of this tactic is basically no matter how behind you are as long as you at least have your core items, you should be able to one shot most squishies. Before a teamfight happens you can suicide into a fed squishy and trade kills with him, allowing your team to win the fight. This tactic may make your KDA look ugly, but that's basically all you can do when behind other then splitpushing.

You can go for more ballsy sh*t with 3139.png because it offers a nice disengage.

Play Style Back to Top

Before level 6 you're going to want to play extremely passive as you are very venerable to ganks and just being outtraded by your opponent, in many situations you're gonna be forced to farm with your talonrake.png. Surviving Talon's early level is quite the task especially verses good opponents. If you find it very difficult to survive his early game I recommend starting 2033.png. Keep in mind that one talonrake.png and an auto attack will proc Thunderlords which can help you win some early trades. Farming under turret is also something you'll learn to adapt to as you'll be doing a lot of that.

After level 6 is where the fun starts, at level 6 Talon has one of the best burst combo's in the entire game with a fairly low cooldown. Abusing your level 6 powerspike is the difference between a good and bad Talon player, a good Talon player will one shot his opponent at 6 and then immediately look for someone else to kill once your talonshadowassault.png is up again. Making the most of your talonshadowassault.png in the midgame is extremely vital for carrying games as Talon, winning 2v3 skirmishes, winning drake fights, winning four man bot fights are all possible if you use your talonshadowassault.png wisely.

When the super late game arrives Talon's powerspike kinda withers away a little depending on the champions you're vs. When you're in this situation it is worth it to die for a kill on the ADC or whoever is carrying.
