Summoner Spells Back to Top

4.png Flash: Essential spell on Taric

3.png Exaust: Helps Taric with engaging / disengaging.

7.png Heal: Pretty sure Taric has enough heal.

14.png Ignite: Taric is an agressive support, so this can be an option too.

31.png Poro Toss: Best summoner spell on Taric. Gives him everything he needs. A Poro.

zedR.png Death Mark: What is this doing here?

3084.png Overlord's Bloodmail: ............ wut

Masteries Back to Top

Cunning Tree:

Wanderer: Gives Taric more out of combat mobility.
Secret Stash: Makes your Potions very useful early game.
Meditation: You are going to need that mana regen.
Bandit: Helps you finish your build easier.
Intelligence: With my build and this mastery, you will reach 45% cooldown reduction which is really good on Taric.

Resolve Tree:

Unyielding: Yes, you need to be tanky but you also need the bonus armor and magic resist early game.
Tough Skin: Reduced damage from champion basic attacks... I think you can understand my choice here.
Runic Armor: Makes your Q and W more powerful (on yourself).
Insight: You need to have Flash and Exaust available most of the time.

Keystone Mastery:

My Choice: Windspeaker's%20Blessing.png Windspeaker's Blessing: Makes your Q more powerful and your W very strong.

Other Option: bond-of-stone.png Bond of Stone: Also good on Taric but I think it's not as good as Windspeaker's.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Passive: RxYyk.png Bravado
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

giphy.gif
Taric infuses his next two basic attacks whenever he casts an ability. He swings faster with these two attacks, which deal increased damage and reduce his cooldowns.

This passives gives you more sustainable damage and it's very good when you engage with your E for example.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Q: hdmYw.png Starlight's Touch
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

giphy.gif
Taric heals himself and all nearby allies based on the number of Starlight's Touch charges he’s stored. Taric generates up to three charges over time.

This ability costs a lot of mana, so don't spam it. If you can, wait till you have 3 stacks before using this ability so it will be stronger and more mana efficient.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
W: GkOTs.png Bastion
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

giphy.gif
All of Taric’s abilities are simultaneously cast from both Taric and his linked ally.
Passive: Bastion increases Taric’s armor.
Active: Taric links with an ally, shielding them from damage. Bastion remains on Taric’s ally until he recasts it onto another ally, or the two move far enough apart to break their link.

I think this is the best ability in Taric's kit. In the laning phase the link will stay most of the time on the marksman, of course, but you can use it on the jungler when he comes to gank or on another teammate if you're roaming or during teamfight.
In teamfights, remember to cover more area with your Q, E and R with the help of your linked ally.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
E: 6Xf51.png Dazzle
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

giphy.gif
After a brief delay, Taric fires out a short wave of celestial energy in a target direction that stuns all enemies struck.

This ability is very good for engaging / disengaging. Remember that you can walk while it's on delay. When you and your Bastion linked ally use the ability, it will point to your cursor.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
R: j7MT1.png Cosmic Radiance
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

giphy.gif
Taric calls on the stars themselves for protection. After a moderate delay, he and all nearby allies become invulnerable for a few seconds.

Much invulnerable, so wow! Use this ability when you're going to engage, while in teamfight or to save teammates from dying. This ability has some channel time, so make sure you use this ability a bit sooner.

Starting Items

    The Ordinary Tank Support Starters
    Vision ward can be very helpful

Core Items

    Your First Rush
    Relic Shield Upgrade
    Ordinary Build
    Mobility Boots
    Don't forget to upgrade your trinket

Situational Items

    Situational Items
    If they have a lot of AD / AP
3401.png Face of the Mountain: The ordinary tank support item which is your second rush after sightstone.

2303.png Eye of the Equinox: Saves an extra slot in your inventory, but personally I prefer not to buy this but to buy Face of the Mountain and Sightstone, which I can upgrade later.

2049.png Sightstone: Gives you bonus health and wards so you can upgrade your trinket to Oracle's Atrelation. Upgrade this item to Ruby Sightstone only when you finish your build.

3110.png Frozen Heart: The 20% cooldown reduction is fantastic with your passive. It also gives you a lot of mana and armor. This is your first item after completing Face of the Mountain.

3065.png Spirit Visage: Gives you bonus health + health regen and magic resistance. It also gives you cooldown reduction which, as I said works very well with your passive and increased healing which works well with your Q, Starlight's Touch.

3190.png Locket of the Iron Solari: More cooldown reduction! It will help you finish your build with max cooldown reduction which I think is really helpful on taric and it's a very reccomended support tank item in general.

3143.png Randuin's Omen: If they have a lot of AD, then this is a very good item for you. The active can also help you engage / disengage which is something taric's kit is really good at.

Alistar is difficulty to lane against when you play Taric. He can heal triumphantroar.png aswell and he has a lot of cc which punishes you for your lack of mobility.

About Matchups Back to Top

Taric's weakness is hard cc and mobility because of his lack of mobility. Also, Taric has a lot of armor, but not so much magic resistance. This is why high ap mage supports and ad carriers like Corki 42.png. This is why I buy with Taric a Spirit Visage 3065.png and Locket of the Iron Solari 3190.png.

About Counter Items Back to Top

Taric relys on his stun and he doesn't have a lot of mobility. Lucky for his opponents there are a few items in the shop that can counter him.

3222.png Mikael's Crucible: A common support item which I like to call "The-NoCC 3000". If Taric is going to engage with E the support can use the item's active and poof! No more stun!

3139.png Mercurial Scimitar: It's like the Mikael's Crucible, but for ADCs (and stronger). In addition to removing debuffs, it also gives 50% movespeed for a perfect escape.

3143.png Randuin's Omen: An AOE slow! How nice! But not so nice to taric. The slow makes it very hard for taric to reach an enemy or escape with his low mobility.

3025.png Iceborn Gauntlet: Speaking of slow, this item also gives an area of slow which is really hard for Taric.
