Summoner Spells Back to Top

3.png is the most common summoner spell for supports. It notably reduces the damage of the selected target and it works especially well when facing assassins like 238_64.png 134_64.png 55.png 92.png or natural teamfighters like 85.png or 161.png3.png reduces a champion damage by 40% and their movement speed by 30% over 2.5 seconds, which is very important to land almost assure tarice.png on your enemies. Using it in the right moment is key to safe lifes during all circumstances of the game.  


7.png is becoming more frequent on supports since marksmen are starting to run 21.png over 7.png. The main reason of this change is due to the fact that picking 6363.png makes healing effects 10% stronger, making 7.png stronger on supports who run 6363.png. Apart from that, 6231.png increases the healing ratio on yourself by 8%, increasing the healing effects efficieny on you by 18% when both 6363.png 6231.png masteries are combined. 


This means that at level 18 you will heal for 407 on yourself instead of 345. Your closest allies will also benefit from it getting a 34,5HP bonus healing when running 6363.png



14.png is a bit risky to run but it can definitely work against melee matchups such as 89.png 12.png or 53.png. You can also pick this summoner if the enemy team has no assassins to 3.png or if someone in your team already took 3.png. Your early game kill potential isn't ideal but you can have a lot more pressure in lane when choosing 14.png over 3.png. Remember that 14.png also grants you vision of an enemy champion over 5 seconds.



4.png Picking flash is totally necessary to create kill opportunities with your tarice.png 4.png combo or to get away from difficult situations. 4.png is a must pick for almost every champion and 44.png isn't an exception.

RESOLVE

Guardian.png?width=64 Some people prefer running Aftershock.png?width=32 but in my oppinion, this mastery is much less reliable than Guardian.png?width=32 and doesn't up much more than better early game all-in potential. Guardian.png?width=32 improves your early game deffensive options and its extremely easy to activate with your basic taricq.png taricw.png abilities. Your shield will also increase value with the amount of extra HP you purchase during the game (+10% bonus health) and the extra movement speed that it gives (+20% extra MS) its always welcome. 

Font%20of%20Life.png?width=64 Greatly rewards you for landing those tarice.png on your enemies. Your allies receive free heal when attacking impaired targets for the following FOUR seconds. 

Conditioning.png?width=64 Survivability its all we are looking with this champion. Getting an extra 5% armor and magic resistance could be huge once we got our key items. Our laning phase might get worse but this rune value its extraordinary. Two of our abilities taricw.png tarice.png also get better as we get more armor! 

Revitalize.png?width=64 Increase shielding and healing effects makes our two basic deffensive abilties taricq.png taricw.png stronger. The additional healing and shielding effects on targets bellow 40% HP its especially great when defending our frontline. 


INSPIRATION


Biscuit%20Delivery.png?width=64 We picked two scaling rune pages in our resolve tree Conditioning.png?width=32 Revitalize.png?width=32 and we need a rune that makes up for it. Biscuit delivery will give us a free biscuit every three minutes during the first 12 minutes of the game to survive the early stages of the game. Consuming the biscuits will also PERMANENTLY increase our mana pool by 40. 

Cosmic%20Insight.png?width=64 League of Legends Ultimate Infestation. This mastery is really good on supports and will let you spam your abilties, active items and summoner spells faster than usual.

WHY DO I CHOOSE WINDSPEAKER'S OVER COLOSSUS?


6262.png is a great mastery but it also demands you to land your tarice.png to take advantage of it. Apart from not being as reliant as 6363.png, the RESOLVE tree only offers us more tanky stats, which we already have with our kit. Moreover, 6363.png has a higher winrate on this champion and it' really good to peel on the current marksman meta. 


CUNNING TREE


6311.png Gotta go fast around the map! This mastery is totally necessary to get faster to locations after going back to the fountain. 

6322.png Biscuits are fundamental to have that extra sustain and mana that will provide us control over our lane. Taric early game is pretty lackluster aswell and the 2010.png will greatly help us out to diminish our low impact during the early game. 

6332.png Mana regeneration is a must on this champion and this is the only mastery that will provide us some sustain before we get some mana regeneration items. 

6342.png There is no need to discuss this one, you get free GOLD with no interests!

6352.png If you need to choose between 6351.png and 6352.png there is a clear winner and that's 6352.png for sure. Taric wants to spam his abilities as much as possible thanks to his taricpassive.png fastly reseting abilities cooldowns. We will hit the 45% CDR cap late into the game but believe me when I say that the wait will be totally worth it. 

6363.png Two of your abilities taricq.png taricw.png provide healing and shielding, which makes this mastery choice perfect for Taric. Your allies also get bonus armor and magic resistance when healing or shielding them. Your other options 6362.png 6361.png are not even an option for 44.png



RESOLVE TREE


6211.png This mastery is particularly good during the early stages of the game where you need to keep healthy enough to keep trading.  

6221.png Many players would choose 6223.png over 6221.png but I would rather roam faster around the map, which could save a life or create a kill opportunity than taking a bit of damage during laning phase. 

6231.png This is tough decision because supports normally prefer to run 6232.png over 6231.png6232.png it's better for the laning phase thanks to the flat bonus advantage that it gives you but 6231.png fits us incredibly well and synergyses with our taricq.png and taricw.png. It also improves the healing 7.png on yourself. 

6241.png Having your summoner spells 3.png 14.png 7.png 4.png with a 15% cooldown reduction is totally needed if we want to engage with our tarice.png 4.png combo. It also gives us the chance to use our other summoner spell more frequently, which we could use to force teamfights more often.

ABILITY MAX ORDER


taricr.png > tarice.png > taricq.png > taricw.png

Taric has a weak laning phase and that's why we will probably need to give two points into our taricq.png before starting to max out our primary source of engage, Taric's tarice.png. It's important to note that we don't need to take this extra point on our taricq.png if we are against melee matchups or if poke suppoort champions aren't pushing us too low on HP. After maxing our tarice.png it's important to prioritize our healing taricq.png instead of our taricw.png. Taric's taricw.png scales with his armor and that's going to be irrelevant until we are max out on items. Apart from that, our taricq.png has an area of effect impact, gives more sustain and allows us to proc 3504.png on multiple targets.

This ability active will shield the target for 8/9/10/11/12% of target's maximum health. The abilities effects do not stack and only one champion can be marked at a time.

(E) DAZZLE


tarice.png 44.png projects a beam of starlight towards the target location, erupting after a 1 second delay, dealing magic damage too all enemies hit and stunning them for 1.25 seconds. tarice.png will follow your cursor when firing from 44.png and his taricw.png companion position.  Taric can also move while channeling this ability. 


COST: 60 mana 
COOLDOWN: 17/16/15/14/13
RANGE: 575 units


Landing this ability on an ENEMY CHAMPION will make them unable to use 12.png and 4.png, use auto-attacks or abilities and item actives for 1.25 seconds. STUNS also interrupt all channeled and charged abilities like 3.png galioe.png or 236.png luciane.png as well as Anivia's glacialstorm.png. This type of CC can be cleansed by 1.png 3140.png or 3222.png. Some champion abilities also nullify this effect, such as107.png rengarw.png or 12.png ferocioushowl.png. It's effect could also be blocked by 15.png sivire.png or 3102.png active.

(R) COSMIC RADIANCE


taricr.pngACTIVE: After a 2.5 second delay taricr.png descends upon Taric, it's companion and all nearby champions, granting them INVULNERABILITY for 2.5 seconds.

EFFECT RADIUS: 400 units


Our ultimate is key to win team fights and that's why we have to be very aware of our enemies initiation. Using it right after 113.png has landed her sejuanir.png on multiple targets will completely deny enemies team follow up damage. Do not panic and waste the ultimate and always look to save your damage dealers before getting deleted. Try to move to your allies current position just before your taricr.png descends from the sky. You will normally use this ability just right after your/their team has engaged on a fight.

Starting Items

    Better if you want to trade on lane and get more instant sustain from the active.
    More suitable if you want to play defensive and generate more gold passively.
    This is how your build should look after a couple of backs to the fountain. Don't forget to purchase those control wards!

Core Items

    This is how your final build should look like in most of your games. You can get the 45% CDR cap with this build aswell as some core items for the champion.
    This MUST be your first purchase with this champion. This item is totally insane!
    A really good item for tanky champions, it offers your team even more shielding power and teamfight potential.
    NEVER FORGET TO HAVE ONE IN YOUR INVENTORY!

Situational Items

    Synergyses well with Ardent Censer and it keeps your team healthy enough in prolonged teamfights.
    If someone in your team needs to cleanse off a crucial ability.
    Gives you all the stats you are looking for and it also buffs one of your allies with it's active.
    If you need disengeage or engage tools for your team.
    Depends on the game you will purchase different boots.

Depending on your matchup you will start the game with either an 3301.png or a 3302.png. As I said before, 3302.png offers you more trading potential, tankiness and instant sustain but 3301.png it's better to generate gold and regenerate mana to stay healthy during the early stages of the game. After a couple of backs back to your base you will probably have your 2049.png, your improved support item 3096.png 3097.png and your 1001.png ready. At this point you need to start looking for your first purchasable item. 



The first item you want to get with 44.png is an 3504.png. You can even skip getting a 2049.png or your upgraded support item 3096.png 3097.png first to get this item. I highly recommend you to do this if your marksman it's already fed. After getting your 3504.png I like to rush 3109.png with Taric. It keeps you healthy as long as your linked target deals damage and has really good stats for it's cheap price. You can also get a 3190.png second if they have a lot of AoE damage. In the meantime, don't forget to get your boots accordingly to the enemy team strengths!



After getting this items, you should upgrade your support item 2302.png 2303.png to have more wards in your inventory and look for more options. If your team needs an extra healing to keep fighting prolonged teamfights 3107.png is always a great item. You can also get a 3222.png if they have a cleansable CC that is heavily denying one of your carries. You can also get a 3069.png if your team needs to engage or disengeage a fight. To finish off your build you can get a 3050.png, leave an inventory space for control 2055.png wards or get one of the items mentioned above. Do not forget to buy 2138.png once your fully max out.

Even if he is able to knock you up with his pulverize.png, your taricq.png and taricw.png can mitigate a lot of his damage output. tarice.png if he gets in range and try to quickly react to a multi knockup combo with your taricr.png during teamfights.

His superior range can be really annoying during the early levels. It's really hard to land a tarice.png on him thanks to his bardw.png speed boost but if you manage to hit it, don't hesitate and go for the kill.

He doesn't want to pull you with his rocketgrab.png. If you are able to make long trades you will win them out thanks to your taricpassive.png

Brand has poke for days and it's really hard to play around him if he knows how to avoid your only threatening tarice.png ability. Try to preventive use taricr.png before he can deal too much damage with his brandr.png bounce.

Medium

This is a very skillful matchup were you need to be very aware of his braumq.png and braume.pngcooldows. Never trade him back if he is able to land his braumq.png before you can land your tarice.png on him.

Medium

She doesn't have too much poke but 40.png will push you under your own turret pretty easily. It's okay if the lane goes even but don't allow her to take your turret too early.

Karma

Hard

One of the most annoying matchups for you. She can easily avoid your tarice.png with her karmasolkimshield.pngand she can safely stay away from your autoattacks. Her poke with her karmaq.png and karmamantra.png karmaq.png is too much so you will probably need to max taricq.png first during laning phase.

Leona

Medium

You will outsustain her if you keep trading in lane. Take that into your advantage and make sure you land your tarice.png after she engages on you with her leonazenithblade.png leonashieldofdaybreak.png combo. This matchup really depends on your/their marksman ability to perform.

Lulu

Hard

Similar as 43.png but with more constant poke. Her autoattacks are really strong and she is very slipery aswell. Do not get into her auto range if you are unsure about landing your tarice.png on her.

Morgana

Hard

Her kit heavily counters you. She can easily avoid your tarice.png with her blackshield.png and you are vulnerable to her darkbindingmissile.png and soulshackles.png long CC's. Try to dance around her darkbindingmissile.png staying behind your minions and try to trade her when she has her blackshield.png on cooldown.

Nami

Medium

She isn't as annoying as other poke support champions but 267.png outsustains you pretty hard with her namiw.png superior healing. Play passively until your jungler approaches your lane, you will be more relevant than her during teamfights.

Easy

He can easily avoid your tarice.png with all his dashes rakanw.png rakane.png but his laning is pretty awfull unless his lane companion is 498.png. Your taricr.png also neglects all of his rakanw.png rakanr.png initiation tools.

Medium

Similar as 267.png her sustain sonaw.png is better than yours but she isn't going to be a threat unless she constantly lands her sonapassive.png sonaq.png on you.

Soraka

Medium
16.png is always very frustrating to play against but she has to land a lot of her sorakaq.png to force your 2010.png. Take care to not run into her sorakae.png during teamfights or she can easily avoid a crucial taricr.png from yours.

Tahm Kench

Medium

If he lands his tahmkenchq.png on you and tries to tahmkenchw.png afterwards, counter it with a fast tarice.png to keep him away. Don't overxtend trying to get your cooldowns back up with your taricpassive.png or he will outrade you.

Medium

A really interesting matchup that depends on you not running into his threshe.png range. Don't allow him to autoattack you for free and punish him with your tarice.png if he tries to get too close to you.

Zilean

Medium

He has a lot of poke damage thanks to his zileanq.png zileanw.png zileanq.png combo but your taricw.png can absorb all of his damage with ease. 

Synergies with Marksmen Back to Top

110.png Probably the best marksman partner you can get. His varuse.png slow field will allow you to easily land your tarice.png for a lot of following damage. You also have a great CC chain at level 6 following his varusr.png with an unmissable tarice.png. His poke damage with varusq.pngis also great and will help you to push the lane in your favor.


29.png Similar to 110.png varuse.png his twitchexpunge.png slow field is great to catch up a target with an tarice.png. You can also support him from a safe distance while he is assassinating targets while being on stealth with his twitchhideinshadows.png up. During teamfights try to use your taricr.png just before he pops his twitchfullautomatic.png to get the maximum damage output while being immune to damage. 


222.png She can farm from a safe distance and follow up your tarice.png with her jinxe.png. You can also repeat this combo once her jinxr.png is up to force summoners or secure a kill. During the late game she is unstoppable if she gets her jinxpassive.png proc so try to keep her alive at all cost. 


22.png Doesn't have mobility but provides a lot of utility with her slows and her global ultimate enchantedcrystalarrow.png. His laning is good enough not to be heavily pushed under turret and she can be pretty terrifying if she gets a couple of items rolling early on. 


429.png This may not seem like a great combo because her kalistapassive.png difficults landing your tarice.png once you have linked her but following up her kalistarx.png with a tarice.png stun is too good to be denied. She can easily get control over the lane and can even give you the apprehend during the early stages of the game.   


67.png Laning with her is obnoxious but if you manage to stay even in farm you will have a great time during the mid and late game teamfights. If you don't fuck up big time you will win late game teamfights by simply spamming all your abilities taricq.png taricw.png taricr.png on her. 

81.png He is on this list just because he is Taric's boyfriend. Funnily enough he is one of the worse laning partners you can get.

EARLY GAME

Your early game is pretty weak and you will suffer a lot against poke support champions such as 117.png or 43.png. Against this type of champions you only need to help your marksman to farm up and don't let them take your first outer turret for free. Try to keep sustained with your taricq.png and consume your biscuits 2010.png if you are on risk of getting killed. Just SURVIVE and you will be okay. Facing off melee champions such as 12.png or 223.png is a lot more easier and will depend on your ability to handle the matchup. 

Always remember to tarice.png 4.png if your jungler approaches your lane and they are vulnerable to it. 


MID GAME


You aren't 25.png and won't look for picks unless they mess up and are in your tarice.png range. You can always force an engage with your tarice.png 4.png combo but remember to warn your teammates before doing it so they can follow up your initiation. Your biggest strenght are TEAMFIGHTS were they don't immediately blown up one of your biggest damage dealers. Remember to always have an eye on assassins like 238.png 91.png or 107.png. It will be really hard for them to get the target they want if you manage to react on time and cast taricq.png taricw.png on your ally right after exhausting 3.png them. You are always looking for prolonged teamfights were you can keep your team healthy enough to keep fighting back. 


LATE GAME


Know whose your biggest damage dealer and keep him alive! Your marksman will probably be your team's biggest damaging threath but sometimes peeling off for a 69.png or a 13.png during the late game teamfights could be more beneficial than supporting your lane partner. During teamfights remember to not use actives such as 3190.png when you are already immune taricr.png to damage. Lastly, remember to keep your carries alive spamming all of your abilities and don't forget to autoattack their frontline to have reduced cooldown taricpassive.png on your basic taricq.png taricw.png tarice.png abilities.

PROS

  • Your abilities provide you a lot of tankiness to stay alive during prolonged teamfights.
  • Excellent peeling abilities with your taricq.png taricw.png and taricr.png.
  • Flexible and pretty realiable stun from your tarice.png.
  • Reliable passive taricpassive.png that makes your trading potential mildly relevant. 
  • An awesome anti-initiation ultimate taricr.png that makes 85.png kennenshurikenstorm.png 69.png cassiopeiar.png 4 men initiation look bad. 
  • YOU ARE TRULY, TRULY, TRULY... OUTRAGEOUS.
  • Your lane game potential is insane and better than almost any other support champion.

CONS

  • Has a really weak laning phase and scales slowly comparing it to other support champions. 
  • Can be shredded by attack damage magic penetration items such as 3135.png or 3033.png
  • Has no mobility in his kit.
  • Really slow when roaming around the map.
  • Can be easily caught up roaming alone the enemy side of the map. 
  • His tarice.png stun duration doesn't increase with levels.

Roaming as support Back to Top

Roaming as support is one of the basics of the role alongside properly setting up vision, controlling your lane, initiating and peeling for your teammates. Many times players tend to avoid supporting because they don't think the role has enough impact to carry games. Luckily for us our role involves much more than warding and peeling for the carries. Thinking before acting, knowing your team weaknesses and strenghts and playing around objectives will be crucial to recognize the best timings to roam around the map.

WHAT'S ROAMING?

I will briefly explain what roaming means as a clarifying for those who are still confused about it's significance. Roaming implies leaving your ordinary lane to support other lanes by deep warding on contesting enemy vision or by ganking your solo laners. Your ULTIMATE GOAL is to have a better position to contest OBJECTIVES or to take turrets to OPEN THE MAP for your team.



WHY DO I ROAM? 

Knowing why do you roam is critical to your success. Catching enemies off guard could start a SNOWBALL effect that could easily get out of hand if they do not react on time to it. Getting kills on other lanes or forcing summoners is always great but that's not your only job while roaming. One of the principal points of roaming is VISION DENIAL. Denying enemy vision is really important to make enemies play more passively and to plan future ganks. Aside from that, KNOWLEDGE is also imperative. You need to leave wards on the enemy side of the jungle to know their jungler intentions and play correctly around it. Lastly, you can always help you solo laners to SHOVE THE WAVE before they go back to fountain or FREEZE it, giving them a gold and experience advantage over it's lane opponent.

WHEN DO I ROAM?

Many players fail to recognize when to gank and it's indispensable to properly contribute positively to your team. You can ONLY ROAM if:  
  • You SHOVE YOUR WAVE. After shoving the wave you got a few seconds before enemy botlane pushes the minion wave back to your turret. You can use that time to deep ward the enemy jungle, gank midlane or clean enemy vision. 
  • YOUR MARKSMAN CAN STAY ALIVE ON A 2VS1 SITUATION. If you are losing, lane supports tend to roam but this can sometimes fire you back. If the enemy botlane is already ahead of you and they can deny your marksman farm and get an inner turret on top of that, you will play with a non-factor marksman for the rest of the game. Keep in mind that marksmen like 51.png or 81.png can safely stay alone in lane but do not leave a flashles 96.png 29.png or 202.png by it's own or they will be free flesh for your enemies. 
  • AFTER THE ENEMY BOTLANE GOES BACK TO FOUNTAIN you can take advantage of the situation and seek for a surprise gank. 
  • AFTER A SUCCESSFUL BOTLANE KILL you can place vision on the enemy side of the jungle or gank a lane if you are still healthy enough to not die while doing so. 
  • WHEN YOU GO BACK TO FOUNTAIN you can always look for ganking one of your solo laners. Top lane is usually a good option since they don't expect the support to roam that far away from their lane. However, get mobility 3117.png boots online if you roam to the other side of the map.

ROAMING TIPS 

  • Be aware of the enemy jungler positioning.
  • Try to coordinate a gank with your jungler's help.
  • Leave proper vision set up in botlane.
  • Tell your marksman your intentions before roaming.
  • Avoid crossing paths that your enemy has already warded. 
  • Early game is a good moment to gank mid lane but once laning phase is over, playing around objectives and the top-mid area is normally better than staying around bot lane. 



BEST SUPPORT CHAMPIONS TO ROAM


Roaming will always be an option for any support champion but some of them really outshine at this particular job. There are two pivotal factors you need to take into account to evaluate how good a champion at roaming and those ones are MOBILITY and CC LOCKUPS. For mobility we are looking for mobility 3117.png boots and abilities such as 432.png barde.png37.png sonae.png or 43.png karmasolkimshield.png that could get as to our destination faster than usual. Taking all these factors into account, the following supports are the best champions to roam with:

dot-pattern.png This is a very generic view about how to properly ward. Every game is different and you should recognize and ward accordingly to it. Warding the most important but also the most underrated thing in League of Legends. Warding is a team oriented work but as a support, you play a major role on your teams vision. I will now show common ward places depending on the game situation. dot-pattern.png


I didn't add wards around drake/baron but you have to move your vision to this part of the map when one of them is a contested pick for both teams. REMEMBER THAT WARDING HIGHLY DEPENDS ON YOUR TEAM AND ENEMY TEAM POSITION ON THE MAP, DO NOT WASTE TIME WARDING LESS VALUABLE SPOTS.


 green.png points mean STEALTH WARDS. PINK.png points mean VISION WARDS. If green.png and PINK.png are in the same location means that both type of wards could be placed there.


WARDING BOT LANE (RED SIDE)

It's important to point out that you should always trinket lane bushes to gain lane dominance over your opponent. You can also pink ward your own lane bush if your jungler is planning a lane gank. When warding lane bushes, try to ward the closest point to the enemy turret (so your top can have a good TP spot if a fight breaks out).

Apart from that, if you are playing on blue side always try to take out the enemy red fruit (cone) that spawns on the enemy jungle (to prevent easy ganking paths).

BARON SET UP (RED SIDE) 

Baron set up wards are one of the most undervalued things of the game. To help you understand where you should ward before taking this objetive check both maps. Having no vision over your enemy jungle is giving them the chance to 50/50 smite and to potentially throw the game. When warding the pit it's CRUCIAL to PINK WARD just on the left side of the baron face (as shown in the image bellow). By doing so, your pink ward will disable the enemy wards put it from behind the pit.

DEEP WARDING ENEMY BLUE SIDE JUNGLE (BLUE SIDE)

Before deep warding enemy jungler it's INDISPENSABLE to take two things into consideration: 

1) Having vision on the enemy jungler
2) Knowing which part of the map you control. If you are winning bot lane entering your enemy jungler in a solo mission should be a lot safer than normal. 

Understanding when you can enter their jungle unspotted is what separates a lot of players from grinding ELO. As soon as you got vision of their jungler on the opposite side of the map, it's time to move and place vision to gain control over the bot side of the Rift. Ideally, working with your jungler to place vision on the enemy side of the map is what you want to do in these situations. Having said which, it often doesn't work (especially in soloQ). Lastly, you have to know your champion limits. If you try to ward the enemy jungle (after being spotted) with mobile champions like 432.png 497.png it's a lot safer than with 44.png or 12.png, so make sure you have an escape before entering your enemy part of the map.
