Summoner Spells Back to Top

Most top laners use 12.png and 4.png. But this is not ideal on Teemo, he is a lane bully, and teleport does not help much in this area. The ideal teleport champion also has things in his kit to engage once his teleport is complete.

14.png Is far better for Teemo as it further powers his early aggression. Ignite also has a defensive role to play. The only real way to win against Teemo in lane is to go all-in and try to take him out. Ignite is good in all-in as you can kill them before they kill you. The bonus of having a way to counter healing champions is also welcome :)

As of patch 8.6 Ignite is now extremely strong, dealing a whopping 505 true damage at level 18

New Runes Back to Top

Watch the season 8 guide update for more information about my rune choices. In short:
I used to run Summon%20Aerie.png?width=32 as it is awesome in the lane for sustained damage. BUT it shows Teemos exact position when it is used, so if Teemo is in stealth they now know where you are = Dead 17.png. This trade-off is too big for me to consider Summon Aery. You can still run Summon Aery if you like, but then you will have to not really on your stealth at all.

Electrocute.png?width=64
Electrocute really helps with assassinating targets as it gives some insane burst damage.I consider this rune to be best by a large margin, but if you want to play on-hit Teemo, then Press%20the%20Attack.png?width=32is viable.

cheap%20shot1.png?width=32 vs Taste%20of%20Blood.png?width=32 vs Sudden%20Impact.png?width=32
Cheap Shot is the best in this row, Blinding Dart procs it. Teemo Shrooms applies it as well without Teemo needing to be near. Taste for Blood is ok for a little sustain but sustain is not a problem in this build at all so it is mostly wasted. Sudden Impact can only be activated with passive so it is quite weak by default.

Eyeball%20Collection.png?width=32
Do not consider the other 2 options in this tier, they only help with vision and Teemo does NOT have vision problems thanks to shrooms. The extra damage Eyeball Collection adds is a nice boost.

Ravenous%20Hunter.png?width=32 vs Relentless%20Hunter.png?width=32 vsIngenious%20Hunter.png?width=32
None of these runes truly shines on Teemo, but I consider Ravenous Hunter to be the best as it helps to keep Teemo topped off. Ingenious Hunter only helps on trinket and 3146.png, so I don't think it is strong enough. Relentless Hunter seems strong on paper but Teemo enters combat everytime someone steps on a shroom so it is rarely active.

The%20Ultimate%20Hat.png?width=32
This Hat looks really good on Teemo! But seriously though Teemo is the best abuser of this rune in the game, use it in ALL builds.

Transcendence.png?width=32
This is to get full cdr in the mid-late game. Not very strong in combat, but super strong for his shrooms as he can put so many of them that no one can stop him.

The skill order is also discussed in the video guide. But it is quite simple. If you are against a champion that relies on auto attacks you should max blindingdart.png, but if you are against a mage and the like, you should max toxicshot.png

In some cases you are against heavy AA but you dominate him from the get-go, in that case maxing Toxic Shot first is a good choice as you do not need the defensive aspect of Blinding dart. Toxic Shot Simply deals far more sustained damage. As you get better with Teemo you will have many games where you max Toxic Shot first. But if you are learning the rains stick to Blinding Dart max vs AA champions.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

This is the best start by far in my opinion
The refillable potion can be upgraded to corrupting potion on the first back if you feel like you need the sustain. It is often a good buy
95% of the time you should build Gunblade as the first item, it counters almost all enemies you will face. Against someone like Swain Wit's End can be a better buy as it allows you to win 1v1's easily
    Just buy these ;)

Core Items

This is the end build. I sell Gunblade, in the end, to make room for this build, but I rarely get this much gold. Build Order: Sorcerer's Shoes > Hextech Gunblade > Liandry's Torment > Nashor's Tooth > Sheen > Void Staff > Finish Lich Bane > Sell Sorcerer's Shoes > Rabadon's Deathcap > Sell Hextech Gunblade > Morellonomicon. This is the basic build path but it changes sometimes. If you are against heavy healing buying Morellonomicon earlier is good. If the enemy team is stacking heavy magic resist buying Void Staff earlier is good, and so on.

Situational Items

In games where I get to snowball I upgrade my Dark seal to a Mejai's Soulstealer for obvious reasons :) Just remember to play more defensive if you get it, losing stacks is never fun and it is easy to get stacks from safety due to your shrooms

For more information regarding items, see the end of the video guide.

In short, I have 40% cooldown reduction and INSANE shroom damage. So I have a lot of shrooms and each shroom kicks ass.

So... Why do I build Teemo like this, and not in one of the 1000 other ways he can be built?

While it is true that On-hit Teemo and other variation can be very strong, those builds fall off hard in the late game. The build I use becomes absolutely disgusting late game. When one shroom takes away more than half of my enemies health, and I can spit out shrooms like there is no tomorrow, there is very little room for counterplay.

On-Hit Teemo also has the flaw that it takes some time to down a foe as he relies heavily on sustained damage. If you have seen either my "Can it Split?" or guide videos you know exactly how long enemies survive against a Teemo with my build. The answer is often 0.001 sec.

On-Hit Teemo is also trying to do something that other champions can simply do better. Teemo is not the best auto attacker in the game and never will be. The shroom gameplay is however highly unique and it is both fun and very effective to put emphasis on his shrooms. When building Teemo like I do, he is arguably the best defense champion in the game. You can do some crazy turnarounds if you empower your base with a sick minefield of destruction ;)

VS

Akali

Medium

Akali loses to Teemo HARD pre 6. But if she manages to stay even until level 6 she can easily all-in the Teemo.

I would say this matchup is slightly in Teemo's favor. But it all depends on how much of a lead you are able to gain pre 6.

VS

Cho'Gath

Hard

He is very tanky and deals insane damage, he should have been banned. If he was not and decided to go top, dodge his rupture.png at ALL cost

VS

Darius

Easy

If he does manage to dariusaxegrabcone.png you, you are going to have a bad time. But most of the time he never lands one and then he is just fucked completely. Keep your distance and the lane is easy

VS

Jax

Medium

He can dodge auto attacks, you can blind auto attacks. Pretty even, he is, however, a lot more tanky, but he is also melee. Never go near him if your blind is on cooldown, and do not push the lane too far.

VS

Jayce

Medium

See the Attitude guide for some Teemo vs Jayce footage :)

VS

Kayn

Medium

Dodge his kaynw.png reach, and the lane is won. Seriously, just don't get hit by it and you are fine.

VS

Kennen

Medium

You are very similar champions in turns of playstyle. The better player wins here, and there ain't much more to say.

Kennen has better burst damage and you have better sustained damage, so the Wit's End can win you the lane if Kennen is troublesome.

VS

Kled

Easy

I love playing Kled, and I love playing AGAINST Kled when I am playing Teemo. You can whittle him down and when he goes to attack you, just use blind so his kledw.png will be wasted. Do be careful of his all-in if your blind is on cooldown though, but other than that it should be easy.

VS

Malphite

Easy

Malphite is a very good anti-ad tank. But you are a mage with this build so that is the least of your worries. He cannot get to you without usingufslash.png and he is quite easy to deal with pre 6. Your dot will ensure that his passive will never recover.

VS

Maokai

Medium

You probably won't kill him if he just stacks tank stats, but he really can't kill you either in 1v1's. Maokai can, however, lock you down, and will often do so combined with a gank. This matchup is mostly about avoiding ganks.

VS

Nasus

Medium

If you don't get some kind of early advantage he can just use ultimate and spam wither on you to end you. But you do have the upper hand pre 6, so stop his farm and zone him as much as possible. You can use blind before he tries to get a stack so he won't get it.

VS

Pantheon

Medium

Poke champion vs poke champion. An early back to get your corrupting potion can really help you. Stay healthy and you should win this lane.

VS

Renekton

Medium

He has some annoying sustain and very strong all-in potential. Do NOT stay within his double dash range if your blind is on cooldown. Try to whittle him down slowly, but make sure to stay healthy, if you lose even a tiny amount of health he can kill you in a single combo.

VS

Riven

Hard

The hardest matchup in my opinion. Blind is your friend here, as it can greatly reduce her ability to all-in you. But her insane mobility, shield, and cc are very hard to deal with. Do not try to win this lane, focus instead on staying even with her.

VS

Shen

Easy

His Taunt is the only thing you should be afraid of if he does not land that taunt, you can shit all over him.

VS

Swain

Medium

AHA! The Swain!

If you get ahead early you can buy Gunnblade as usual, but if Swain gets ahead or you are even with him, a Wit's End purchase WILL win you the lane. If you get Wit's End you should try to all-in him.

VS

Trundle

Medium

If you are not cautious a good pillar of ice and ultimate combo could end you. But if you avoid this you have the upper hand.

VS

Tryndamere

Easy

Poor Tryndamere. This matchup is so incredibly one-sided that it ain't even funny :P

VS

Vladimir

Medium

See the video guide to see how to deal with this guide.

You cannot whittle him down as you would with other champions, instead you need to all-in him. Ignite makes this possible.

VS

Wukong

Medium

See the video guide to see how to deal with this guide.

in short: be cautious early as he can deal a fair amount of damage, but after that, he should be easy
