Summoner Spells Back to Top

4.png  Flash: There's not much to say. Highly recommended
Huge potential for tricky engages, repositioning, eating walls...

3.png Exhaust: Since the nerf, summoner full defensive. Still a really nice choice.
You must pick this if you're facing an assassin.

14.png Ignite: Extermely recommended for SoloQ. High carry potential.
It will give us the extra dmg you need for the well known all in @ lvl 2

Combinations:

Flash/Ignite: This may be your prefered combination. Lot of pressure early game and secures lvl2 all-in. Easy to win the lane in favorable or even matchups.

Flash/Exhaust: Defensive combination. Commonly used when you're facing an assassin or a team that can destroy your ADC.

New Runes Back to Top

*IM STILL WORKING ON THIS, SO MANY OPTIONS FOR EVERY MATCHUP. I WILL UPDATE SOON*

These runes are getting modified every day on PBE, so if there is any change on runes, i'll update them. Also I will be adding the highest winrate rune page in every patch (for every key rune) so you can compare them and choose your own set.

127.jpg

I've been testing some runes and the Resolve/Inspiration seems to be pretty strong with Thresh. These ones are a very popular support engage rune set and I will explain why:

-Aftershock gives tons of armor and magic resist, and also damage, so its an all-in-one rune.

-Unflniching allows us to go in and then walk away pretty easily because of the extra tenacity and slow resist. Can be replaced with Font of life because of the extra healing, but in my opinion, it is not as worth it as Unflinching rune

-Iron skin gives armor and can give also another boost of armor if you get healed, so in trades could be a really useful rune. This one will be used the 95% of the times. In other matchups, if you are facing a poke supp like Zyra, Brand, Ziggs... You should take Mirror Shell. Conditioning is also a good rune, but for me, support is not a scaling position, so i avoid getting any scaling rune as much as I can.

-For the last rune on the Resolve tree, I recommend geetting Second Wing because helps us to be healthy in lane even if we get poked. Also Revitalize is not a bad option, but I prefer getting this with Rakan for example. Overgrowth seems to be a bit strong, but as i said before: Scaling and passive rune; so i will not take it for Thresh.

On our second tree? Inspiration:

-Biscuit Delivery gives us biscuits, not as strong as last season's but these ones are free every 3 minutes until minute 12, in other words, 4 free biscuits. Also, they increase our mana cap by 40 each one, what means 160 mana more. You will want to use this rune almost every game. If not, you can also try the Hextech Flashtraption, if you know how, where, and when to use it, can be a strong rune for you.

-For our second and last rune, we can go Cosmic Insight for the CDR (always really good) or Celestial Body, which gives 100hp more and makes you more difficult to kill.
179.png
Another option is the "Thunderlord's" page, trying to replace the Thunderlord's masteries to get the damage we had last season and still being enough tanky. (I'm not too confident about these to be honest and I didn't test them really much so I can't give a in-depth explanation, but they can work really well in some specific matchups).179.png
On the "Utility" one you can change some points depending on your own playstyle. For me, this worked really well because:

- First of all, i can exchage shards to replace Summoner Spells, so this lets me to have more oportunities in the game for plays. Also getting the Glacial Augment, or Kleptomancy is a good choice depending if you trade too much with Q or E and you get traded a lot.

-Hextech Flashtraption is a huge rune that allows us to make a lot of different plays. 20 seconds cooldown. The bad part, you can't use it on combat, so it's only a engage helper but.... It's still a flash. Also you can get the Biscuit Delivery (only gives 4 so it's not worth it for me) or Perfect Timing, which can save you from a bad lvl2 engage or a gank.

-Future's Market allows us to get CDR sooner, even if we are losing the lane, so seems like a back-up for losing lanes and a stomping helper for winning lanes. Also Magical Footwear is a good choice because gifts us boots ( saving 300g and sometimes getting boots even sooner ) and you can buy the upgrade by 50gold.

-Cosmic Insight gives us the CDR we need to become a hook/cc machine. Also Approach Velocity could work if you depend on getting random picks or if you want to positionate yourself really good for combos.

-For our secondary set, I got Sorcery. Why? Just for CDR on our ultimate and at level 10. I think getting the Resolve runes like the first rune page (Domination/Resolve) works too.

Masteries Back to Top

RIP MASTERIES IN SEASON 8, WE WILL REMEMBER YOU

At this season TLD is the truly key to make your Thresh an early carry god. But as i told you before, you can go TLD ot CotC. Why? Let's see:

1.- TLD
-REALLY nice early game.
-Good synergy with ignite for the all in @ lvl 2
-Makes your thresh trades really agresives

2.- CotC
-Good early
-Will be popped with Q most of the times, so you can yolo a bit
-Makes your Thresh less aggresive, but a more tankier

ADVISE: For my CotC Thresh i change the resolve tree to Tough skin, 5 points on Runic Armor and Switfness and CotC

Max priority:

- First point to the E, and then Q>E>W)
- First point to the E, and then Q>W>E)
- Three points in E (lvls 1,4 and 5), then max Q

What does each one?

The first one gives you a lot of engage potential and teamfight pressure.

The second one makes you understand Thresh's kit better. Also makes you, and your team, a little bit tankier, and lets you make more hook 2v1 plays.

The last one takes in mind that you will probably not gonna hook twice in lane in the same trade, so you want to deal dmg instead. Also helps farming with Targon and zoning.

NOTE: Do not abuse using Q. Pressure can be done psychologically, I mean, making them think you can hook them, so they will try to dodge your Q and you can use this to your advantage. Sometimes you shouldn't use Q, just get close and flay him backwards or whatever you need in that moment.
179.png
Combos:
 - Easy: Q -> (wait for the second pull to maximize CC) Q -> E (you can cast E while in the air to prevent 100% flashes)
 - Easy 2: Q -> R(making the enemy to be on the wall's box when the second pull ends or inside if he has not flash)->E(backwards)
 - Hard: E (backwards) -> Q(instant, to cancel animation and minimize reaction time) -> Possible R
 - Hard 2: Flash + E (backwards) -> Q (as the previous combo)->Possible R
 - Hard 3: Flash + Q -> E->R
 - Expert: Flash + Q -> W(to an ally) -> Q -> E -> R
 - Challenjeour (BunnyHop): Q -> backwards flash -> (you can move a bit til before the second Q pull) W>Q or W+Q
 - Bunnyhop advanced: Q -> Backwards flash -> W>Q/W+Q -> R -> E inside R (should be done almost like a doublecast and pulled to a wall)

All these combos are basically the same and the most effective/used, but with some variations that will depend on the situation you're playing in. Really easy to do if you played Thresh once.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

Starting items. Must choose between Targon or Coin

Core Items

This should be your first purchase in almost every case
Ionian should be your choice unless you already got 40-45%cdr, or you are gonna roam a lot and you lack of movement speed

Situational Items

    IF AD heavy.
    If AP heavy.
    Items for both cases
Other items that aren't effective enough
BunnyFufuu's New Season item set. Tip: Prioritize cdr items
Always prioritize CDR. Try to get your %CDR cap as early as you can, this will make you have more pressure because you will be able to Q over and over again.

Targon should be better because of its quest now, it gives us a shield = more tanky = more plays in teamfights or fiestas. Coin's passive gives us the movement speed that we can lack if we build Ionian boots.

Ionian boots should be built every sinlge game because its cdr on summoners spells and abilities.

Warmog/Gargoyle should be built in almost every ocasion.

Gargoyle Stoneplate it's a good item if the enemy teams kills you really fast when you go in or if there are a lot of 5v5 teamfights.
Warmog it's good for roaming/engaging in diferent teamfights in diferent locations/make preassure/be healthy for an incoming teamfight.

Righteous Glory is also a good item. Huge engage potential and commonly used. Some people are buying it before 2nd targon's updgrade and mobis so they can roam easily.

My usual build is something like: Eye of the Equinox, Ionian boots, Warmog, Gargoyle, Locket and a situational item like Zeke, Spirit Visage, Righteous Glory...
This build makes you tanky enough to engage as much as you want. Missplays won't be your death.

VS

Alistar

Medium

Laning phase: Try to poke him as much as you can. Also roaming works really well.

Trades: He depends on his headbutt.png + pulverize.png combo, be aware of it. If you are under his tower, he will want to Flash + Combo to insec your adc or even you.

You can stop his combo by flaying him out threshe.png

At 6: His ferocioushowl.png removes stuns, take that in mind

VS

Annie

Easy

Laning phase: Try to threshq.png her as much as you can. She has no scapes than the 4.png. Also a gank could be nice.

Good positioning is required. If you get stunned in a bad position, you're dead.

If she has ignite, be careful, she will have too much damage and your ADC could be easily killed

At 6: infernalguardian.png Nothing more to say -.-

VS

Bard

Medium

Laning phase: Brd has more range = free poke. Try to land threshq.png on him when he's on a bad position to harass. Don't get closer to your ADC or a wall because it will lead to a free bardq.png engage/poke.

A level 2 engage on bard could make the lane really easier.

VS

Blitzcrank

Easy

This is almost 90% winable

Laning phase: Careful of his rocketgrab.png, even more if you are pushing towards his turret. If he fails the grab, punish him, he's melee and it's easy to poke him.

At 6: High burst from rocketgrab.pngpowerfist.pngstaticfield.png, careful with that

VS

Brand

Medium

High burst/poke champ.

Laning phase: Do NOT get stunned and try to aviod brandw.png which is the main ability to poke you and your ADC.
In return he has no escapes, so his only reliable way to get out from a dangerous play is the  4.png. Try to land threshq.png on him to force his summoner spells, if you miss your hook, play passive.

At 6: His R... bounces, so DO NOT get close to your ADC or creeps. A flash may be a good option to avoid this. or a hook into somewhere far away.

VS

Braum

Hard

One of your hardest counterpicks you could get. This is a skill matchup.

The best way to win the lane? As always, lvl 2 all-in.

Laning phase: It's really hard to lane against him, be careful. Be aware of its braumq.png and also the passive. A single Q can kill you.

As a Braum player, I can warn you about the typical harass tactic: braumw.png to a minion or even the ADC, and braumq.png. So he can get closer, hit you, and proc the passsive.
At 6: As many other ults, Braum's is really strong, and he can Q you afterwards to proc the stun real fast, take care of that.

NOTE: Braum's best weapon is his passive, some ADCs can proc it almost instantly, so if you are facing a Braum-Lucian botlane (worst matchup) be careful, a mistake will led you to lose the lane.

VS

Caitlyn

Medium

Skill-based matchup

Laning phase: Don't try to poke, she has too much range and that makes her get always in a good spot to trade you. The brush can be a easy way to hide and poke combo her.
Using threshe.png to deny her caitlynentrapment.png could be an important tip to take in mind.

VS

Corki

Medium

As always, try to all-in lvl2 to get an early advantage

Laning phase: avoid his poke. As an ADC, Corki has really high poke dmg, and burst after the first 2 items

Using youre flay  threshe.png is a good option to stop his carpetbomb.png and this can make him burn one or both summoners to get away, or even die.

VS

Draven

Medium

Be careful of his dravenspinning.png damage

Laning phase: If your adc has enough damage, try to lvl2 all-in. You can easily threshq.png him into his dravenspinning.png mark so if he catches the axe, he gets grabbed, so he has to drop the axe or get high bursted...or even killed

VS

Ezreal

Easy

Laning phase: Poke him when his ezrealmysticshot.png is down. ezrealarcaneshift.png can kill him or kill you, time it or predict it ;)

At 6: ezrealtrueshotbarrage.png get ready for the banana. time it to dodge or to grab him. Remember, he can flash while R.

VS

Graves

Medium

Avoid gravesqlinespell.png, deals high damage. Don't stay near walls, so it can't be detonated faster.

Laning phase: Take care of his low range, you can use your minions in advantage to make them tank Graves' AA. Our flay can break his gravesmove.png.

When fighting Graves, try to be as far as you can because the more closer you are to him, the more damage his AA will deal

VS

Janna

Easy

Laning phase: Bait eyeofthestorm.png and you will make her useless. The lvl 2 all in against her is really easy to win, she's so squishy.

At 6: reapthewhirlwind.png This heals and knocks you back, can be used with flash to insec. Take care.

VS

Jhin

Medium

Jhin is an in inmobile champion, this means you can easily lvl2 all-in him, or try to Q or E him a lot of times. Make preassure.

Laning phase: Lvl2 all-in will work everytime. To make it work better or just to trade/poke, watch his AA and engage at 1 or 0, so he needs to reload--> back.

VS

Jinx

Easy

Laning phase: Poke and try to not get hit by her rockets. If you dodge her jinxe.png, she could be dead, or a flash will be forced.

At 6: Look if jinxr.png is going for you or for another lane, if its the last one, PLEASE, warn other lanes about this.

VS

Kalista

Hard

She's really weak but in return she has a passive than lets her kite and dodge easily.

Laning phase: Harass and poke her. If you can predict her passive dodge and land a threshq.png your job is done.

TIP: the threshe.png + threshq.png combo works really well with her. Why? E slows her so even if you wait for her to dodge to throw your threshq.png, you will 99% hit that hook thanks to the slow

VS

Leona

Medium

Her main engage tool is her leonazenithblade.png, but we can't deny it by using our flay.

Laning phase: Harass her before lvl 2 just aa her. Care at lvl 6, Even if she's behind in lane, Leona can easily burst anyone down, so try to keep your flay up if you can because leonazenithblade.png it's her only gap closer

VS

Miss Fortune

Easy

Laning phase: Don't let her hit you with missfortunericochetshot.png, so don't stay behind low hp minions. Try to push for the all-in at lvl 2.

At 6: Save one of your threshe.pngthreshq.png to stop her missfortunebullettime.png in case you need it.

VS

Morgana

Hard

This matchup depends on how good is the enemy Morgana.

Laning phase: Bait her blackshield.png. This ability is the one that makes her a good counterpick for Thresh. Learn how to bait her the dark shield, and you can start doing things.

blackshield.png Will be most commonly used to stop your threshq.png, but you can wait a bit (second Q pull) and go in when her shield goes off, to engage in a rude and really, REALLY, risky way.

Don't get snared by her darkbindingmissile.png

NOTE: blackshield.png Can only be casted to one person, try to mind game her like fake Q'ing adc and going for her or the oppsite

At 6: Get out of soulshackles.png as soon as possible or fight til someone dies, it depends if you will be able to kill'em before her R ends and stuns. You will need to know if you can kill'em or not depending on how much cc do they have.

NOTE: As I do, you will end loving this matchup for sure

VS

Nami

Medium

Nami is a high utility support, but that makes her really squishy

Laning phase: Try to threshq.png her as much as you can, and if you have a good/aggressive ADC, you can snowball the lane. Care about her namiw.png when trading, she can easily heal up her or the ADC. Dodge her namiq.png and namir.png or you're dead.

Sometimes, when Nami namiq.png you or your ADC, you can try to hook her while she's getting closer and casting her Q, so if you get hit by her namiq.png, she won't leave easily and you can re-engage.

VS

Nautilus

Medium

High tank champion with low range.

Laning phase: Poke him as much as you can, you should play this lane as if theres a Blitzcranck instead a Nautilus: everytime he misses nautilusanchordrag.png try to punish him as hard as you can. His nautilussplashzone.png will deal more damage if you are running away from him, so maybe sometimes you want to stop running to deny some damage.

For this matchup, getting Solari or Mikael's Crucible can be really good against him.

VS

Shen

Medium

Tanky peeler champion. His only ability to pay attention to is his shene.png

Laning phase: Put your finger in your flay, and as in the Leona matchup, whenever he shene.png, use your threshe.png to stop him. Every time he fails his shene.png, punish him.
Sometimes if you Q the ADC, he will dash into your adc, so try to keep your E active to deny it, or at least help your ADC to get rid of him.

At lvl 6: He has a global ultimate, so keep track of it. You can deny it by using E or Q, so take that in mind.

VS

Sivir

Medium

This champion is just her sivire.png, bait it or make her use it, to kill her.

Laning phase:Try to push for the lvl2 all-in. You can try to poke, she has a "bad" early. You can bait her sivire.png by using your E. Also, a good trick is to get closer to Sivir, and do the Q > E combo (works in doublecast) so you will flay her before your Q lands, and this will make her use the sivire.png in your Flay.

VS

Sona

Medium

High poke champion but really squishy.

Laning phase: She mainly pokes qith her sonaq.png so be careful about its damage. Because she's a really squishy champion, you shuld try to play agressive and try to focus her, so threshq.png on Sona will make her to go back for a couple of sonaw.png. Lvl 2 all-in will help a lot.

VS

Soraka

Easy

Laning phase: Focus her, no matter what. Poke, hook, flay her, make her lose hp so she won't heal. Also, don't get hit by her sorakaq.png

Bring 14.pngto cut her healings down at trades or teamfights
At 6: She can get free asists with sorakar.png and help other lanes til she's wating in the fountain, be aware of her ultimate when you fight.

VS

Tahm Kench

Hard

At level 3 you will understand why i hate this champion and his tahmkenchw.png so much.

Because of that, level 2 all-in is a really good way to solve this problem

VS

Taric

Medium

Tanky and peeler champion. He can also do engages.

Laning phase: Avoid tarice.png and you will win the lane. If Taric stuns your ADC, go peel him, and focus the enemy ADC.

At 6: his R has 2.5s delay, so you can try to busrt him in that period of time. At lvl6+, if your lane is pushed, maybe you should think about leaving lane because Taric can easily dive anyone at any time, so just run.

VS

Thresh

Easy

He's won't be playing agains you in ranked xD

If it's a normal game, better Thresh wins, and... he didn't see this guide for sure, so.. GG WP

VS

Tristana

Medium

Scaling ADC, but she's "weak" early game and laning phase

Laning phase: Push lvl2 for all-in. A common and known trick is to threshe.png her tristanaw.png (you can also grab her while she's in the air).

At 6: Be careful with her high burst with tristanae.png and tristanar.png

VS

Twitch

Medium

Laning phase: Just hook him, and make preassure. Push for lvl2 all-in as always. If they are playing agressive and Twitch is not there, assume he is really close. His main dmg comes through his twitchexpunge.png, do not mess up a trade, and you're fine.

Tip: Red trinket helps to see if Twitch is in his Q, don't be afraid to use it since Pinks can't.

VS

Vayne

Hard

This matchup depends on the vayne's skills with her. Can be super easy, or super hard.

Laning phase: Forget about hitting a threshq.png, she will vaynetumble.png away. Your option? Predict her.
Bully her before 6, all-in at lvl2, poke... make her to feel unconfortable at lane to make your pressure bigger; also, don't get poked by her with vaynesilveredbolts.png and vaynecondemn.png

At 6: Buy a vision ward for her vayneinquisition.png and try to time the time space between her Q's to land yours

VS

Vel'Koz

Medium

High poke champion with more damage than the ADC.

Laning phase: He's inmobile, so try to threshq.png him to get a so you can easily kill him.

At 6: Save your Q or E for Vel'Koz's ultimate because it can burst your ADC down.

VS

Zyra

Hard

Hard poke champ. She can block your threshq.png with her plants.

Laning phase: ALL-IN LVL 2. Works everytime. If not, preassure bot in early game so zyra won't be a problem.

How to level 2 the lane Back to Top

The moment when almost every lane winner is determined is at level 2. At this level, one of the laners will have a second skill, this means that he can bully the other player really easy, even get a free kill because of more skills and base stats advantage.

For every laner, you need to farm 7 minions (a entire wave and one melee creep) but not for bot lane. For us, it takes 9 creeps (a entire lane and 3 melee creeps). Melee creeps give more experience, so they are needed to get our next level faster.

So, the key here is to get level 2 slightly before than the enemy champions, to create a false security feeling, but...how to do this? It's really easy:

-With all that in mind you want to hit lvl 2 before the enemy but keep the lane in the middle so you can use the lvl 2 power spike to win the lane.

-You want to shove the lane but only slightly faster than they are. What this does is to allow the second wave of minions to hit the lane while you still have most of your minions alive and they should only have 1-2 caster minions.
When the second wave hits, that's when you finish off the last 1-2 caster minions from the first wave then quickly kill the melee minions from the second wave to hit lvl 2 and engage.

-If they fight you it should end in a kill or burning any summoners. After this you can zone them off the creep wave and slow push the wave into their tower and they should have a hard time last hitting all the minions under it.
