Summoner Spells Back to Top

Don't be a bad troll. Take smite in the jungle. 


Flash over ghost in the jungle thanks to the utility a blink offers. Wall hop escapes, instant initiations, flash smite steals, etc. Hell, you may have to follow someone over your own pillar. 

Remember that it's almost always better to flash the threat that will nearly kill you rather than waste it trying to escape after you've taken enough damage to be easily picked off.

PASSIVE: You'll never go low as long as you have something to farm. Amazing in team fights with your W and R, making Trundle a great "rope a dope" fighter. 

Q: The bite. This is what makes Trundle a scary early game jungler for invaders - losing 10 AD while your opponent gains 20 is fight deciding. It used to destroy structures, but that got removed. You can chew on a melee or canon minion to buff your AD, so Trundle can still dish out scary tower damage, especially on top of W.
Powerful against enemy ADCs or AD assassins gunning for your carries. 
It has a massive slow, so try to position in the enemy path if you can.

This is an AA reset. Bite after an AA lands for optimal efficiency. 

W: Never not be fighting on top of this. 
Since it boosts all sources of healing try to time it so that you pop pots, smite, activate passive, etc. on your W to maximize your sustain. 
You can throw an extra point in W pre-6 if you're keen on more MS/AS for ganks/clearing over more Q damage. 
Take care that the massive AOE doesn't tip off the enemy team to your whereabouts prematurely. 

E: Beautiful spell. One of the few champ made terrains in the game, with a massive knock up and slow to boot. Great gank tool. Amazing team fight utility (catch, peel, or split). Even vision.  
You can use this to trap both ally and enemy, so be mindful of mobility if you don't want to end up denying a kill to yourself or your team. 
Using this spell to grief your teammates can end with a ban, so make sure only do it on accident :^)

Bonus Tip: Scuttle crab loses his shit and can't path sometimes when the pillar is placed directly in front of him and Trundle is at the rear. This makes clearing him quick and easy, a boon for a low mobi guy like Trundle. 

Bonus Tip #2: This spell can help with clearing krugs. Divide and conquer, they can't path around. Can potentially work for wolf camp too.  

R: This powerful debuff makes Trundle a force in both teamfights and 1 v 1s. Use it to pick a carry to obliterate or to help your ADC chunk bothersome bruisers and tanks. A lot of people underestimate the DoT, so that can net you some cheeky kills time to time too. 

Note that this spell looks at the stats on cast. If you R an enemy with a defensive buff that falls off halfway, you're going to steal far more than you usually would. 
At the same time, if you R an enemy that THEN gets a defensive buff you're only going to take a % of their old resistances rather than stealing from the buff.

Situational Items

    Great against high AD damage. Get this if you need to tank, or want an easier time sticking.
    Combine with Spirit Visage vs a seriously harmful enemy AP comp.
    Solid buy, especially on Trundle being good at slugging it out at low hp. If someone dies near you while you're reviving you still get healed.
    You're fed double digits and want to sustain forever.
    Meh, why not if you really want it?
    AD is busting your humps
    Amazing synergy on Trundle
    Make sure you ult before whacking away, then watch their armor vanish
    Getting to people on Trundle can be an effort, so make sure they stay there
    Tons of Damage
    If you're desperate to go fast
FIRST BACK: Here you can swap 3340_32.png for 3341_32.png. This is personal preference. Red trinket helps with ganking and drag clears, but then again you could always just double down on vision control with yellows and pinks. 

I like 3715_32.png over 3706_32.png, Trundle has a ranged slow via pillar and the reduced damage/true has nice synergy with your kit. If you're worried about catching people, go blue obviously. 
 

Pick your boots depending on enemy comp. Remember that certain CCs ignore tenacity, so boots of swiftness might be the more appealing choice. 

THE CORE:

Really important for clearing. Trundle is all single target, which means stuff like the chickens and krugs will eat you alive. AA - Q - Tiamat Active is a brutal combo early.

As I said, I like my Trundle tanky. Good synergy with Titanic by adding more HP and more AOE.

More hp - more damage. Also provides high AOE damage, something that Trundle lacks.  


 
SITUATIONAL:                   
A big critique of many guides is that it encourages newer players to build the same thing over and over again for every game. 
I agree, and if you do this you should learn to stop. Fortunately Trundle has an extremely diverse build pool. 

Learn to tailor your build path to the enemy team. I suggest some fairly core/mandatory items, but if the situation calls for it alter the order or build something else. 
I've left the last item slots open for you to decide how you want to combat the enemy team, though I usually recommend getting your defenses down unless super fed, such as randuins/spirit visage.

Her ganks are strong so try to set up counterganks and trap her once she commits.

Don't bother trying to 1 v 1 this guy. Try and steal his camps as much as possible to slow down his income, you don't want Fiddles getting items quickly. 


If you have teammates around your pillar can be a nightmare for him. Use it to interrupt the storm or to hinder it failing that.

Lee Sin

Easy

You can't really catch the guy, but Lee Sin also can't really bully Trundle in the early game like he can with other champions. 

You outscale him hard, as well as make his job harder by stealing the durability he needs to survive mid-late game. 

Watch out for the dragon/baron steals. Lee Sin is notorious for this. 

VS

Vi

Easy

You exist to stop her from doing what she wants to do. 

Q to neuter, pillar to hurt enemy follow up and R to ensure she can't live in your back line for long.
