Summoner Spells Back to Top

4.png Is probably the most efficient spell in the game. This has great potential level 1. The drawback to this spell is that it has a long cooldown. TAKE AGAINST MELEE CHAMPS!

6.png Ghost is great for running people down and diving is way easier. TAKE AGAINST RANGED CHAMPS!

14.pngThis spell provides lots of damage early on, good for getting first blood. Loses it's effectiveness late game. Take this if against champions like mundo, swain, or any other sustain monsters.

3.png Is great for any matchup that builds damage against you such as 157.png and 92.png. It scales better into late game than ignite.

New Runes Back to Top

Masteries Back to Top

You should almost always go 18 in ferocity, but depending on the matchup, masteries vary from there.

Fervor is the best keystone option. Because of Tryndamere's playstyle with his ultimate, you want as much damage as possible to kill an enemy before your ult runs out. The extra damage from fervor outweighs the healing from warlord's bloodlust anyways.

I like taking 12 in Resolve, because of the extra healing from runic armor, and CDR for summoner spells with insight.

tryndamerepassive.pngBATTLE FURY (Passive)

Tryndamere uses fury, instead of mana. As he gains fury, he gains additional crit strike chance. It is important to get as much fury as possible before going into a fight, that way you maximize your damage output. Also, the heal you get from Bloodlust (Q) is increased if you have more fury.

tryndamereq.pngBLOODLUST (Q) [Max 1st)

Maxing Bloodlust first on Tryndamere is the best option. You get flat attack damage for free, and even more if you are lower health. You can also use it to heal in lane if you need to. MORE FURY = BIGGER HEAL.

tryndameree.pngSPINNING SLASH (E) [Max 2nd]

Maxing this second will increase the damage and lower the cooldown, which is great! The damage from spinning slash will help you clear waves faster, and have more of a map presence.

tryndamerew.pngMOCKING SHOUT (W) [Max 3rd]

Try to use mocking shout when the enemy has their back turned towards you, that way you get a massive slow onto them. Max this third.

undyingrage.pngUNDYING RAGE (R) [Max last]

Max R last, because all it really does for you is a lower cooldown by 10 seconds. Stronger W or E is better earlier.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

    Start with this most games.

Core Items

**Item 1,2,3** Great core build, it lets you push your lane fast, heal fast, roam and pressure.
**Item 1, 2, or 3** Boots choice changes every game. merc treads if they got lots of cc. cdr boots for more spins, ults, and summoner spells. zerker greaves if they can't kite you.
**Item 4, 5** By far the best damage item for tryndamere. get it only after the core items
**Item 4, 5** Get one of these for the CDR and damage. 90% of the time get black cleaver.
**Item 6** Get this if they have 2 or more armor items.
**Item 6** Get this last if they did not build armor

Situational Items

Get this instead of statikk shiv if you plan on split pushing and 1v1 a ton
get this after you have all 6 items

DISCLAIMER

As with every champion, you're going to build different items in different situations. Being able to know what to buy and adapt to these situations makes you a better player! I can't help you to decide what exactly you need to buy, but i can provide general build paths that I use. Depending on how much money you have, the build path may be a bit different, but this is just a general guideline.

VS

Akali

Easy

Not too bad after her rework, but historically she has been annoying with that shroud.

VS

Darius

Medium

Easy in my opinion. Do not continue extended fights with him, unless you go all-in. Just be careful of those bleed stacks, and always have spin available. Once level 6, you should be able to kill him, if not earlier than level 6.

VS

Dr. Mundo

Easy

Very squishy early on, you can kill him. Once mundo starts to get items though, he can be very annoying. Get executioners calling around the 2-3 item mark.

VS

Fiora

Hard

She's super strong levels 1-6! She can start with over 100 AD at level 1 for gods sake. She can block one of your crits if they are reactive enough, she's a tough match up. Just don't die to her before 6 and you should be fine

VS

Fizz

Medium

Very slippery champion, don't spin in until you see him use playful trickster. He has high damage. If he whiffs one of his abilities, then he is an easy kill.

VS

Gnar

Hard

He kites you incredibly well. Once he gets frozen mallet then there isn't any point in trying to kill him. Kill him early on, his jump is on a long cooldown. If not, then look for flanks into team fights.

VS

Heimerdinger

Easy

Pretty easy, he just auto pushes the wave so you can farm under tower. After a while he may take the tower, but heimer is pretty easy to deal with in my opinion.

VS

Illaoi

Medium

Illaoi is a lane bully. Dodge her illaoie.png because it does a lot of damage to you, and it's very annoying in general. Also, when going for cs, pretend to go in for the cs and bait out her q (tentacle slam). If she misses this, you are free to cs or harass her.

Once you are comfortable that you have enough damage to kill her, she is quite easy to kill due to not having much mobility. Do not underestimate her damage though, I usually wait until level 6 if an early lv 2 cheese does not work.

VS

Irelia

Medium

She's always been very strong in top lane. You do have the potential to kill irelia, but after level 9 it gets  difficult. You are able to kill her early on, but be careful of her stun. Don't let her snowball if possible.

VS

Jarvan IV

Easy

High burst. Dodge his EQ combo he's screwed. You should be able to outscale him.

VS

Jax

Medium

Tryndamere can win this match up. When jax goes to counterstrike, wait ~1 sec, then spin away from him while getting the spin damage on him (even better if spinning into a bush). If timed correctly, he won't be able to chase you and stun you. Once Jax doesnt have his counterstrike, he is very vulnerable

VS

Jayce

Medium

Very high damage. Try to walk at him and see if he wastes his knockback. He is squishy if you can get to him, and after level 6 you should be relatively safe.

VS

Kayle

Medium

She kites you really hard... wait until her E buff is on cooldown, then you can try to spin in and fight her. It's hard once she gets CDR.

VS

Kennen

Hard

He kites you so hard. Honestly you should never end up killing him. I hate this champion so much, i ban it every chance i get in my games. Not kidding.

VS

Lissandra

Medium

She has a lot of kite potential... dodge her skillshots, or out sustain her until she is out of mana. After lv 6 she is hard to kill, but possible.

Super safe champion, after 6 she is a bitch to play against.

VS

Malphite

Easy

Out sustain this guy, once he is out of mana he can't do anything. You can kill him early on and snowball usually.

Malphite is a late game counter, but his early game is pretty bad so you should be able to gain a lead and maintain it from that.

VS

Maokai

Medium

Begin trades by walking at him and hitting him. Once he uses his knockback, you can spin in to continue the trade if desired. Avoid getting hit by his Q when he clears a wave. This matchup is very easy if you beware of ganks. You can outsustain him.

VS

Nasus

Medium

This matchup is super easy before level 6, you can spin in and do damage and he can't trade with you. Past 6 though, nasus should be getting frozen heart and have some stacks. Because of his kit, nasus will counter you very very hard mid to late game.

So how do you beat it?

Try to kill nasus during the early game. If you can kill him and snowball a lead, it greatly delays his ramp-up time. Once nasus eventually scales up, you will have to try and teamfight, or go to bot lane and split push that. You can easily out-split a nasus, due to your clear speed and mobility.

VS

Pantheon

Hard

This guy was meant to win lane... He has high damage poke, a stun, and heartseeker strike. On top of all that, he can block your crits with his passive, which makes it hard. You DO outscale this guy, you just need to live. If he kills you, it's pretty much over until he leaves you alone to farm.

VS

Quinn

Hard

DODGE QUE LOL

...
jk.

To start, get Cloth Armor and 4 potions. Try to have the jungler gank her, that's about all the hope you have. Just do what you can to remain relevant in the game, there is no 1v1 against a Quinn as Tryndamere.

VS

Renekton

Medium

Not played very often, but he has really high damage, and is a strong laner. Wait until you have some items, or level 6, then you can easily handle him.

VS

Riven

Medium

This lane can go either way... If one of you kills the other, then it's gonna be hell for the next 20 minutes lol. Try to wait until she uses her second q slash, then spin away from her so she doesn't get the knock up. Make sure to get the spin damage onto her. If it's an even game at lv 6, then you should be able to win the all in.

Master+ Rivens are scary. Every other riven is easy.

VS

Ryze

Hard

Really annoying with his damage and mobility. He is killable for a while, but once he gets items, he just does too much damage and is too slippery, especially if they take 6.png.

VS

Singed

Medium

Once singed gets a few items, forget about killing him. Try to kill him pre 6 to get a lead, then continue to push, or join your team to teamfight. Once he gets a few of his items, you can't kill him.

VS

Teemo

Hard

Teemo is incredibly obnoxious, if he wastes his blind to poke you, wait until it wears off then kill him! Teemo is also a pretty useless champion, all he is good for is to counter you... so just wait till your jungler ganks the lane, or if he makes a mistake! Not too bad. He's garbage for the rest of the game honestly, just have hope for that.

VS

Trundle

Medium

Trundle is a very strong duelist. You may be able to kill him, but its risky

VS

Wukong

Medium

High damage and mobility, you can kill him if you don't let him poke you with his q! Or wait till he is out of mana

VS

Yasuo

Medium

You out-damage the crap out of this guy if you have full fury. Don't fight him near minions though! he can kite you extremely well if that happens

The Best Right Clicker in League Back to Top

23.pngWhy Do I Play Tryndamere? 23.png

I first started playing back in season 3, playing champions like jarvan, riven, mundo, and karthus. I started finding success when I picked up singed, and that got me from Silver 5 all the way to Plat 5. Once in Plat 5, I couldn't progress as fast as I wanted to, so i tried other things.

One day I stumbled upon a player named Hao (currently has #1 guide for Tryndamere on LoLKing). I saw him play Tryndamere and I was fascinated at what the champion could do. I decided to play Tryndamere, and finished in Diamond 5 in my first season. Since then, I have mained Tryndamere, having fun every time I played him. During Season 6, I managed to get Master Tier playing Tryndamere!

(My favorite thing about Tryndammere is getting 3-4 crits in a row early game, and watching the enemy whine about RNG in all-chat)

Why Should YOU Play Tryndamere?

Tryndamere is a uniqure carry champion whos playstyle differs than every other carry champion in League of Legends. By learning to play Tryndamere efficiently, you can easily carry games, obtain higher rankings, and learn to play the game at a higher level. If you are looking to improve yourself as a player, understand the flow of the game better, simply just get GOLD for the end of season rewards, OR HAVE TONS OF FUN, then Tryndamere is a champion for you!

The Objective - WIN Back to Top

WINNING - How to get there

Seriously though, if you want to win the game, all you have to do is destroy the enemy nexus. In order to do so, you need to force the enemies out of a lane, so that you can take the towers, and eventually reach their nexus. It doesn't matter how you do it, as long as you exert enough pressure on the other team, you can take their towers and reach the nexus.

Split Pushing Back to Top

Split pushing is an amazing tactic that is used to exert pressure on the enemy team at all points in the game. Split pushing can...

- Gain you an advantage in gold and XP by constantly being in a lane
- Create pressure on the map that forces the enemy to respond to your push. If they don't respect it, you will take towers/objectives very quickly, due to being Tryndamere.
- Extend the game length, to allow for yourself (and your team) to farm, and get back into the game if you are currently losing.

That being said, split pushing can also cost you the game in certain scenarios. For example, if you are split pushing while your team is doing nothing on the map, you could get caught out and die for free, which allows the enemy team to 5v4 and potentially win objectives.

The key to split pushing is to watch the minimap and count champions. By doing so, you can safely push, and create enough pressure to force the enemy to respond. If they don't respond, take their towers for free. If you see 5 enemy champions in top lane, and you are in bot lane, feel free to push all the way to their base until they respond to you.

Team Fighting Back to Top

Team fighting can make or break the game for you. On one hand, if you get an ace on the other team, you can take every objective on the map, uncontested, until they respawn. On the other hand, if your team gets aced, you will lose a lot of objectives.

Tryndamere's weak point is teamfighting. If the enemy team kites properly, and focuses you, you will be forced to ult early, get kited, and die quickly. Knowing this, Tryndamere can still teamfight, but you have to be smart about it.

FLANKING

If you do choose to teamfight, never be directly grouped with your team. If you try to spin into them directly, you will be kited, exhausted, and killed. Ideally, you want to be on the sidelines of the teamfight, ready to strike at any moment. This is called a flank.

Flanks are devastating. Historically, flanks have contributed to almost every win in every war that has ever happened. This is because it catches the enemy off-gaurd, and you attack them from an angle that they were not expecting. In League of Legends, this means coming from the side, or out of the fog of war, to CRIT their carries. Even if you still die, you will force the enemy to be in a very bad position, and your team will be able to swoop in and destroy them. Almost every flank that I have pulled off in a teamfight has resulted in AT LEAST one kill, and I escape with my life.

Tldr; If you decide to teamfight, only flank and attack from the side.

Trading In Lane Back to Top

Fury Mechanics

First of all, let's look at Tryndamere's Fury! Not many champions use this.

Tryndamere gains 5 fury for every auto attack, 10 for a critical strike, and 10 bonus fury if he kills a target. Tryndamere needs this fury to trade because he also gets +.35% crit strike for every point of fury, which equals 35% crit chance at 100 fury!

Before going in for a fight, make sure to gain fury from auto attacking, and last hitting in the minion wave. This is important to maximize your damage output.

Trading

There are two main ways that i trade in lane with Tryndamere:

#1: Try to slow the enemy with Mocking Shout first, and if you slow them, you can spin onto them and start auto attacking. Make sure you get the spin damage onto them, otherwise you're missing out on damage that you need to trade. Depending on the matchup, do not chase after them for too long, otherwise it will give them an opportunity to return damage and kite you.

#2: Auto attack the opponent once, and then spin away from them very fast. The spin has a weird hit box where it is behind Tryndamere's model as well, so the spin damage will work if you are close enough to them. This is best used under the enemy's tower, or to deal damage quickly and not allow them to trade back.

**Minion Wave Control** Back to Top

Understanding minion wave management is a crucial part to winning top lane, with any champion! I personally believe that by learning minion wave management, your ranking will significantly raise due to crushing your lane opponent. By knowing where, and what the minions will do, you are able to...

- Farm safely without the fear of getting ganked
- Freeze the minion wave to completely deny the enemy XP and gold
- Push the lane and go back (to shop) or roam without missing much XP or gold
- Use minion damage in your favor

I highly recommend learning how minion waves work. Please watch this video by SoloRenektonOnly on minion wave management

"BOUNCING" THE WAVE

Bouncing a wave means quickly killing all enemy minions before you leave lane, in order to get your minion wave under the enemy tower. This may seem risky to overstay in the lane, but it has its advantages:

1. The enemy tower kills your allied minions, which means it denys the enemy XP and gold if they are not around (either went to shop, or dead). This can gain you a massive advantage in top lane.

2. When you bounce the wave, and go shop/roam, the enemy minion wave will be pushing towards your side of the map, which means you can safely wait and farm that huge wave under your tower. This allows you to avoid ganks, and soak up all the XP and gold.

3**. If you don't bounce the wave, the enemy laner has the potential to teleport back, and freeze the minion wave. This is absolutely devastating, because it will deny you XP and gold, as well as force you to overextend in the lane, and get ganked.

Before you leave lane, always make sure to bounce the wave (unless it is clearly pushing towards your side).

BUILDING A MASSIVE WAVE

In order to build a massive wave, only last hit the minions (the opposite of bouncing a wave). Over time, your minion wave should grow very large. This is useful for a few reasons:

1. That's a lot of minion damage. You are pretty much guaranteed a kill if the enemy tries to fight you with that massive minion wave.

2. Make diving easier - If you dive the enemy with that massive wave, they will take a ton of minion damage which helps you kill them faster. If they die, they lose ALL that XP and gold from the huge minion wave that they can't farm.

3. Crush towers - Minions do bonus damage to towers, as opposed to the damage they do against champions. With a massive minion wave, towers will start to melt, and you don't really have to to anything (other than slap the tower with your right arm!).

No Excuses, Play Like A Champion! Back to Top

THE WINNING MINDSET

One thing that I realized during my climb to Masters... even though you will get boosted teammates, afkers, or trolling feeders, you can't let that get in the way of your mindset to win. I can't begin to tell you how many games I've won by making a comeback due to good farming, exerting map pressure where needed, and even back dooring. NEVER give up on your games, because with that mindset, i almost guarantee you will not improve.

THE BLAME GAME

I understand its difficult to avoid blaming people on your team when their mistakes are clearly their fault. I personally relapse into the mindset of blaming others, and when I do, i realize that I am stuck at my ranking and i'm not improving anymore. I am TELLING you, drop that mindset, work on your own gameplay, and you WILL increase your ranking!

Tryndamere Picked/Banned??? Back to Top

PICKED/BANNED

Unfortunately with draft queue, sometimes Tryndamere will be picked, or banned away from you. If this happens, you have two options...

1. Dodge. If you are commited to playing Tryndamere only, you could dodge and take the -3 LP penalty. This may seem annoying, but its much better than playing out a game if you are uncomfortable with the champion you are about to pick. Dodging does not affect your matchmaking rating, so eventually you will get that 3 LP back for free over time, trust me.

2. Play a secondary champion. It's always a good idea to learn a second champion in case Tryndamere is not available. I personally recommend Malphite 54.png or Maokai 57.png, because these two champions are super easy to learn and use. Additionally, if you accidentally feed on these champions, you can still remain useful!

DIDNT GET ROLE (AUTOFILLED)

Again, with every ranking system that Riot has implemented thus far, you may not get your desired role (top) in ranked. If this happens, politely ask someone on your team if you can switch positions. If they disagree, you have 2 options...

1. Play the role you were given as Tryndamere. I only recommend this for Jungle and Mid.

2. Play a secondary champion in the autofilled role. I personally do this option if i was autofilled as ADC or Support.
