Summoner Spells Back to Top

14.png Take Ignite if you want to pressure your lane opponent, especially when you fight champs which have no/less escapes, like Darius or Fiora.
12.png Teleport is good if you face a poke or tanky champs, which can outtrade you over a longer period of time, for example Garen and Renekton
4.png I prefer Flash over Ghost, especially when I run Ignite . It makes me feel a lot safer in lane and it´s great for engages. I´d recommend to use Ghost when you are playing jungle.
14.png12.png Use TP/Ignite if you have a safe lane vs immobile AP champs or simply squishy champs without much escapes. Use it against Akali or similar champs.

New Runes Back to Top

Haven´t played around that much with the new "runes". But these seem to be the most effective ones for Tryndamere at the moment. These runes above are matching his kit and playstyle.

Eventually this page is ok, if not I´ll change it in the future!

Masteries Back to Top

Pretty standard Mastery Page.

Actually you can go Stormraider´s Surge, if the enemy has many slows, but are squishy.

  • Your passive is a tool you gotta use carefully. If you are at 100 Fury, your opponent will play safer, cuz especially in early levels just a few Champs can deal with Tryndamere. If you are low on fury, your enemy is trying to engage onto you sooner or later. So keep that Fury up.
  • Your Q gives you a nice AD Bonus, when low on health its even greater. If you are fighting and getting low, dont run and give it a try, most of the time you can win the duell and get out alive by using the active heal.
  • Before your opponent engages, try to use W, to minimize their damage output.
  • Spinning Slashs cooldown gets reduced by every critical hit you deal by one second (2 against champs), so you can engage by using and eventually to disengage again. *Say no to Flash-wastes*
  • Use Undying Rage before you take that finishing hit. It´s actually harder than it sounds. Do NEVER EVER use Q immediately before Ult, safe it until your Ult is almost over, that´s the most effective way.

Take E level 1 for an engage or escape.
Max Q for the healing and bonus AD.
Max W second for better slow and more AD reduction. If you are up against an AP champ or someone with good escapes, max E second.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

    Against tanky champs
Early kills, works best with ignite

Core Items

First back, if u can afford go Cutlass.
    Either finish Botrk
or get a recurve bow and boots
    After finishing Botrk upgrade boots
    or go statikk shiv
    losing lane
winning lane hard and stomping your enemys

Situational Items

    Pushing
    Fighting
Get the one you didnt build
    VS AP

I like to rush Botrk, since it gives me an extra slow and huge bunch of AS, which works well with the Runes I use. Also the Lifesteal helps you to stay in lane along with your Q.

After Botrk you can finish boots if you have to chase or want to roam. you can also get your Statikks if you want to push harder and get alot more out of 1v1´s.
When you lose your lane and/or fights, just get Steraks, the shield helps a lot.
If winning, you can rush IE or you get your Rageblade and push.

VS

Darius

Medium

Pre 6 you don´t have a lot to do except farming and dodging his Q´s.

If you are playing atleast a decent lane, you are most likely to stomp him after you got ult. Always take ignite vs Darius to reduce his healing while fighting, since he is most likely to run Grasp of the Undying.

VS

Gnar

Medium

The main reason Tryndamere is hard to play against Gnar, is Tryndameres weakness against ranged damage dealers. It´s pretty much like anyother match up: when you can get an advantage in CS and items when you reach level 6, its mostly about your positioning.

You can use slashcast.png to avoid Gnar ultimate as long as you can guess when he is using it.

VS

Irelia

Easy

You can heal more than her, especially when you fight her. Also you can reduce her heal with Ignite and she most likely runs TP. Since Tryndamere is most effective when hes low on health and mostly is low on health in a fight she cant really make use of her Stun.

VS

Jax

Easy

When you got used to Tryndamere, Jax is no problem at all. Even tho he can do the helicopter move. When he starts a fight with E, just spin into a bush so he cant jump you. After that he will probably retreat and you can slow him with W and deal some damage. At all no big deal to win that matchup.

VS

Malphite

Hard

Well pretty much no chance for you. Just try to push as long as you can. After getting your first turret, roam.

VS

Nasus

Hard

Before he gets his Wither you should have killed him atleast once. Now just try to keep him under his turret and push the sh*t out of him. As soon as he gets 6 you wont stand a chance. So roam and try to push other lanes or get other objectives.

VS

Pantheon

Hard

Pantheon can harass very good with Q. Also his E passive will give you a hard time, since it can be a surprise crit and you didnt use ult. So keep dem crits in mind!

VS

Renekton

Medium

If you can cast W before he engages, you will reduce his damage significantly. After he Sliced in and got his combo off, he will probably dice out of your range, so just Spin after him and slow him if you didnt use W before.

VS

Rengar

Medium

He can use Ult while yours is on. So he will just wait until Undying Rage is over and jump onto you. But in a fight where he cant use Ult you got the advantage.

VS

Riven

Medium

Depends on how well you can guess her cooldowns and on how she plays. If she plays rather aggressive and is Q´ing all the time, you can harass while Broken Wings is on cooldown.

VS

Teemo

Hard

Dodge queue if you see him... not much you can do about him. You can try to build a Spirit Visage and Rageblade. That will give you enough Healing off of your Q to barely stay in lane.

VS

Tryndamere

Easy

No Tryndamere is better than you. Always keep that in mind. YOU. ARE. THE. KING.

VS

Volibear

Medium

He has very high damage on W, so use your ult when he is about to bite you. He will probably get away with his life, since your ult is not that durable as his passive.

VS

Yasuo

Easy

As soon as you get Ult, Yasuo wont win a single fight. The only thing he can do is to kite around you and wait until your ult ran out, so be careful not to fight in a huge ally minion crowd since Yasuo will use it to his advantage.

Basics Back to Top

Note that this is a Guide to climb out of Bronze/Silver or Gold if you are playing a good Tryndamere.

Try to build up Fury as fast as possible. At about 70 to 100 Fury you can engage your opponent with E in level 1 or 2. I dont know why, but they are always trying to fight you... But after your first crit they are trying to disengage, some flash away immediately, some try to safe it. If they flash let them flee, except you are in range and you can get a safe kill with ignite or Spinning Slash. After playing some Tryndamere you will be able to dive at level one without dying by using flash/spin combo. Like flash into turret and Spin through your opponent and out of turret range to grab the kill.
When you hit 6 you can bully as much as you want. Your opponents will mostly fear to attack or fight. So from now on you gotta push trough that Lane. Force your opponent to go back to base. Its possible to get Tier 1 turret at 8 minutes without any help. Further its possible to get to Tier 3 within 6 more minutes. You just gotta keep an eye on the map, since you are vulnerable to ganks.

Actually it´s possible to finish a Game all by yourself, especially in Bronze and low SIlver, nobody will try to fight you if you are fed and ahead. So neither their Jungle or Mid will gank you. Just when you approach their Tier 3 turret they will try to defend that. When you got the inhib or you cant slash your way through enemy champs, leave and go for objectives or help other lanes push. If they are trying to defend their top inhib with 3 or more people just stay and keep ´em busy. Believe me or not, your team will do the rest.

But the most important thing to keep in mind is: stay calm, practice, practice, practice, practice and, yes you are right, crit da sh*t out of ´em!!!!

Advanced Back to Top

There is not really something I could tell you about advanced tactics with Tryndamere, since he is pretty situational. After you got used to him, you can try out different builds. Also you will learn how to use your Fury at its maximum effectiveness.

Opponents in low elo tend to underestimate you. That´s a thing you should never do. Dont try to set up a fight when your opponent plays extremely safe, mostly that´s an indicator for a gank in lower elo.
Neither you should overestimate your enemy. They are in the same elo as you are in, except they are smurfs.

Back to Tryndamere: If you fight at early levels, lets say 2-5 and it´s going pretty much even and you and your opponent are at low health, use Q right before the AA you would die to. Even tho it sounds easy it´s harder than you think. This makes you able to kill your opponent pretty easily, since for them it´s a little surprise when they thought they killed you.

When you hit level 6 before your opponent, try to harass him to at least half HP, then you are pretty much able to dive him.
To harass under turret you can simply try to get close enough to your opponent that your Spinning Slash will hit him when you use it to get out of turret range. So simply auto hit your enemy, then spin back. Eventually you will get a crit off and the damage of your E will hurt a lot.
So this one takes a little practice, if your are early in lane and you got 100 Fury and you are about to crit, use Q to heal, you will get the Fury for the crit even tho you technically do not have any crit chance at that exact moment you crit. That way you will have a little Fury to start off with again. Since as I mentioned your opponent will probably engage on you when you are low on Fury due to that is your weak point.

But always keep in mind, Tryndamere is not about the kills or teamfights. He is, in my opinion, the best splitpusher in the game. E.g.: You are alone pushing top or bot and you are at Tier 2 or 3 Turret already, like 15-20 mins in game. You see an enemy approaching, all you gotta do is kill him under turret, thanks to your ult that´s one of the easiest things to do and afterwards you just keep on pushing. ;)
