Summoner Spells Back to Top

  1.  7.png - I always use Heal. I think Heal is very powerful on Twisted Fate, the reason behind this is because Twisted Fate is a really squishy champion with no escape abilities, and with Heal, you can save yourself in different situations and maybe save another ally. Also, it gives you movement speed, that movement speed can help you chase down a target, and probably stun him and in the end burst him.
  2. 6.png - Ghost is also a pretty good spell on Twisted Fate, but I feel like you should use that if your positioning isn't that good. On a teamfight, ghost is really good since you can basically run around throwing Q and W and then keep repeating that, and with some positioning, it will be hard for the enemy to catch you.
  3. 14.png - I never use ignite, because my playstyle is not offensive at all on laning face. BUT, if you'd like to play offensive, this is a great item, especially for killing the opponent early game.
  4. 3.png - Against assassins like Zed/Yasuo you can go for Exhaust so that they won't be able to kill you so easily on laning face.
  5. 1.png - Against heavy CC team like Ahri/Elise, Cleanse is really good since it could definitely save you from ganks and possibly on teamfights.
  6. 4.png - I think I don't have to say a lot about flash, pretty basic spell. Helps you escape and you can Flash + Gold card to burst an enemy with your team or by yourself!

Masteries Back to Top

  • For Masteries, I go 12/18/0 taking the "Thunderlord's Decree". Let's explain why I take each Mastery.
  • I used to go for 18/12/0, taking the Deathfire Touch Keystone but I realized that it isn't as good as 12/18/0, taking Thunderlord's Decree.

FEROCITY

  1. Sorcery: I take 5 points there because obviously we are playing AP Twisted Fate and it's better than Fury.
  2. Feast: I choose that over Double Edged Sword because it gives some great sustain in lane and helps you survive a lot more since you are pretty squishy.
  3. Natural Talent: I take 5 points there because Twisted Fate won't benefit from Vampirism.
  4. Bounty Hunter: I actually take Bounty Hunter instead of Oppressor because I'm picking up a lot of kills early game from my ganks and general roaming around the map, if you play aggressive in laning face, Oprpessor would be good!

CUNNING

  1. Wanderer: I actually take 5 points in Wandered and not in Savagery because it helps me move faster and that's a #1 thing on Twisted Fate, you could take 5 points in Savagery if you struggle to last hit.
  2. Secret Stash: I take a point on Secret Stash because sustain is the #1 thing on Twisted Fate as well on the laning face, and this mastery provides you a great amount of it. I used to take Runic's Affinity but I realized that this one is better. I don't think "Assassin" is worth getting here.
  3. Meditation: Even though Twisted Fate has his blue card to refill his mana, that isn't enough in my opinion, taking Meditation will help you have your mana bar full.
  4. Dangerous Game: I take this mastery because it helps me survive on teamfights for a longer periods if I have low health for a reason, it's a great mastery anyway.
  5. Precision: I take 5 points of Precision because Magic Penetration is really useful on Twisted Fate and basically any other AP Champion. You also get Armor Penetration and since Twisted Fate is a character based on his auto attacks, it helps him even more. I wouldn't take Intelligence since I don't think Twisted Fate needs Cooldown Reduction since his spell's cooldowns are pretty low anyway (except his ult but that's okay I think).
  6. Thunderlord's Decree: Obviously, I take this mastery. The other ones don't fit Twisted Fate and this one helps him burst his targets down easier and provides him some extra damage on the laning face.

Loaded Dise(Passive) : His Passive is great on Snowballing as it gives you 1-6 Gold on killing a Unit.

Wild Cards(Q) : You basically max your Q first, that's because Twisted Fate's most damage comes from his Q,you can farm in range with it and poke a lot.His Q is really strong in late game, because it's an AoE Ability, which means that you can deal damage to more than 1 enemy.

Pick A Card(W) : This ability is really strong on Twisted Fate, that's because it gives you Mana Sustain,AoE Slow and Stun. You pick your Blue card for unlimited Mana Sustain on laning face and poke your opponent. To wave clear really fast, you pick Red Card then throw it on the second minion coming in lane(second Melee minion) and then throw your Q.Your Gold Card is the card you want to pick when trying to catch a person or get away. The cooldown of your W is around 5 seconds,so you can basically have a stun in every 5 seconds. The order of cards is  Blue --> Red --> Gold. And the card changes in every 0.520 seconds.

Stacked Deck(E) : This ability has a Passive that gives you Attack Speed, which is really helpful on Twisted Fate, and an Active that every Fourth attack, your next attack will deal more Magic Damage.

Destiny(R) : Twisted Fate's Ultimate is called Destiny, when activating it,it reveals all enemies and you can Teleport wherever you want in a range of 5500.You can use this Ability to gank Bot/Top lane.To do that, you push your lane first of all, then you pick a Gold Card and finally you Teleport to Bot/Top and throw your Card. You can also use this Ability to take information on where your Opponents are.Destiny also reveals all Stealth Units(Wards,Mushrooms,Champs etc),so you can use it against an Evelynn or a Rengar.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

I always start like that, this starting pack provides me great movement speed and some pots are always needed!
I guess you could also start with those items, if you'd like to play aggressively, but I never do that so it's up to you!
If you don't want to waste money on pots, you can start like that. Even though it's not as efficient as the other ones in my opinion.

Core Items

This build is the ultimate build for doing literally TONS of damage with Twisted Fate. I rarely take Void Stuff, I usually take a defensive item, see below.
I feel like replacing Luden's Echo with Rod of Ages as it's actually the best thing you can do, if you are planning on playing safe early or because you are getting ganked a lot, since it provides you great HP/AP and scales well with Twisted Fate.

Situational Items

great item for Twisted Fate if you are being focused a lot on teamfights and generally if you think you are not going to make it with "one life". Plus, it provides you great armor and magic resistance.
This is a great item when the enemy team has champs that can hook you (ex. Blitz, Thresh), or champions that can burst you with their combo (ex. Leblanc, Malzahar).
You could buy this item instead of Rod of Ages but I feel like it doesn't help you as much as Rod of Ages does.
If the enemy team has heavy ap champs you should definitely buy this item, even as first if their mid lane and jungle is AP since it can save you from ganks etc.

Starting items :

1) 3340.png1001.png2003.pngx4 : I always start like that, helps me dodge more skillshots with that extra movement speed and sustain myself with those pots!

2) 3340.png1056.png2003.pngx2 : A great start if you want to be aggressive in your laning face.

3) 3340.png1001.png2031.png : If you don't want to waste money on pots, you could buy that instead.

First Back Items (If you plan to play defensive) :

1) 3010.png2003.pngx2 : If you have around 1200 gold you should definitely go for that, as you want to build RoA and also you gain a lot of sustain off that.

2) 1026.png2003.pngx2 : If you have around 900 gold you should go for that since you can't buy catalyst with this amount of gold. Blasting Wand will give you that extra AP anyway which is useful, and it is used to upgrade to RoA anyway.

3) 3191.png2003.pngx2 : If you are playing against a heavy AD like Zed, Seeker's is a great item to go since it provides you a great amount of armor, and it's passive is stackable.

4) 1057.png2003.pngx2 : If they have heavy AP champs (Mid + Jungle) and you are getting ganked and killed, some MR will definitely help you.

First Back Items (If you plan to play offensive) :

1) 3057.png2003.pngx2 : If you have around 1200 gold, you should go for Sheen, I don't thing I have to explain much, you have to buy Lich Bane and Sheen is a great item on Twisted Fate.
2) 3113.png2003.pngx2: If you don't have much gold, you could go for this instead, it will help you buy Lich Bane faster and it provides you great movement speed.

Core Items :

The order I buy the items on Twisted Fate is 3027.png --> 3100_32.png -->  3089_32.png --> 3157_32.png  --> 3135_32.png  (For Boots i take 3259_32.png)
I basically focus on Bursting down my target which helps out on a Teamfight a lot,if you literally delete a person, the fight will eventually be 4vs5.
  • I take 3027.png for my first item since this item is actually really overpowered on Twisted Fate in season 6. It gives you tons of health and Twisted Fate is in need of that. Also, on max stacks, it gives you 120 AP and that's super strong.
  • I take 3100_32.png for second item because it Procs with his W and you can push better turrets and do more damage to your target with basically 1 hit.
  • I take 3089_32.png for my third item because it increases my AP a lot, and more AP means more damage and more damage means better burst.
  • I take 3157_32.png for my forth item because it gives me a great amount of Armor and i can engage a fight by picking a Gold Card, then using my ult to Teleport to the enemy team, stun the APC or ADC and then simply Zhonya's so they won't be able to do anything on me.If your team reacts great with that, the game will be pretty GG.
  • I take 3135_32.png for my fifth item as it helps me on bursting even tanky characters if needed because of its Magic Penetration.

Situational Items :

1) 3269_32.png : I take Mercury's Boots against a team with heavy CC because Twisted Fate is a really Squishy champ with no escape abilities on a Teamfight, and if you get caught by someone, you can escape faster with those boots. Also they are really useful against a Kassadin if you are playing against, that's because it reduces the duration of his E which is slow etc.

2) 1331.png : I take Boots of Lucidity only if I'd like to have some more cooldown reduction instead of a little more burst. If you are planning on going for those boots, you should also take the runes which give you +15% cooldown on level 18. In total you'll have +35% cooldown (since Lich Bane gives 10% as well) and if you have blue buff as well, a total of 40%. You'll be able to spam your Q+W pretty much.

3) 1306.png : I take Boots of Swiftness if they enemy team has a lot of champs which slow you. You'll have a greater chance of surviving if you get caught and that's a huge advantage. They give you more movement speed as well and that's really good on Twisted Fate. So you should consider buying those instead in special occasions.

4) 3102_32.png : I take Banshee's Veil against a team which has Poke Champs (Gragas, Ziggs etc.), Burst Champs (Lux, LeBlanc etc.), Champs with have an Ability to engage (Vi, Nautilous etc) or against champs that have Hooks (Thresh, Blitz).

5) 3026.png : I take Guardian Angel if I feel like I'm not going to make it on a Teamfight or if I feel like it'd be better to be safe than take some extra damage in case of something unexpected. Also, it provides you great Armor + Magic Resistance so why not?

6) 3285.png : I take Luden's Echo if only I would like to do more AoE damage and more damage overall. I buy RoA rather than item since it fits better on Twisted Fate at the moment but Luden's Echo is still a great item to buy if you want to deal tons of damage.

7) 3001.png : I take Abyssal Scepter if the enemy team has heavy AP champs, this item will help you survive against them, also, it will reduce their MR by some amount, that will help you deal them more damage as well. Overall, it's a great item to buy.

VS

Ahri

Hard

Try to dodge her Q as much as possible, and if you do so, try to deal some damage with your (W+E) + Q combo. If you also manage to dodge her E, you'll win a very good trade and will be able to farm easier. If you keep doing that, you might be able to also flash combo and kill her. Ask some help from your Jungler if she's pushing the lane a lot and feel like you could kill her.

VS

Akali

Medium

You can beat Akali if you play right before she has her ult. You are ranged and she is not and you can do your combo on her many times and she will be forced to go back and heal if her HP is low. After her ult though, it will be harder to deal with her, as she'll have a way to jump into you and possibly burst her. So be careful, and if she does jump on you, try to pull up a gold card and stun her. Don't forget that your Ult reveals stealth champions as well, so you can reveal her if she uses her W.

VS

Anivia

Easy

Pretty easy matchup. You have to basically dodge her Q early game and since it's pretty easy to do so, you can pick up great trades with your combo. Just try not to get caught by her Q at mid-late game because she will be able to burst you pretty easily.

VS

Annie

Medium

I'd say Annie isn't hard but isn't easy as well. It really also depends by the player. Try to push the lane when playing vs Annie and when she is trying to CS under the turret, try to combo her. Be careful though, when she gets 6, she can basically one shot you. So tell your jungler to come gank to kill her.

VS

Brand

Medium

Brand is also quite hard, but not extremely hard. If you get caught by his W + Q combo, and his ult is up, you are most likely going to die. So try to not get stunned and if he uses his W, try to hit him up with some damage.

VS

Cassiopeia

Hard

Cassiopeia is hard to play against. If you try to go close to her to hit her up with your W, she'll be able to Q and then spam her E and most likely kill you. You can safe farm with your Q and call your jungler for some help so that you'll be able to at least take her flash out, or kill her.

VS

Diana

Hard

Basically when you are playing against a Diana, you don't want to fight straight 1v1,you have to fight by poking him down, unless your jungler comes. After 6,even if she jumps on you and you stun her,she will be able to jump on you once more,if shes has user her Q-R combo right.

VS

Ekko

Hard

Playing vs Ekko can be pretty tricky. You have to dodge his Q, or else he'll jump on you with his E and deal tons of damage. Try to poke him with some blue cards as much as you can and farm with your Q. Be careful of his ult, it deals a lot of damage and he heals a lot as well.

VS

Fizz

Hard

In order to play against Fizz, you have to just farm and play safe, try not overpushing early against him or he will just zone you and you won't be able to farm.

VS

Galio

Medium

I'd say Galio goes for medium difficulty, the reason behind this is becase of his W and because of his passive, since the more MR he has, the more AP he'll get. He heals tons of it and since you are auto attack based character, if you guys get on a fight 1v1, he'll probably win because he'll heal a lot. Though, if you try to poke him slowly with your combo and get him low, you could probably kill him. Also, try to avoid his Q+E combo since it can actually deal a lot of damage.

VS

Gragas

Medium

Against Gragas, try to dodge his Q and if you do so,go aggresive to him,try to do as much damage as possible and keep doing the same thing.

VS

Karthus

Easy

Pretty easy matchup if you dodge his Q as much as possible. You could also push the lane so that it'll be harder for him to farm, and he'll be forced to use his Q a lot more. You can try to combo him but be careful, after you comboed him, he can use his W to slow you and hit you up with some Qs and deal a lot of damage to you. You can also call your jungler for a gank since Karthus is pretty squishy and you'll be able to kill him in no time.

VS

Kassadin

Hard

Against a Kassadin, try to push his lane early as much as possible and try to poke him down.Try to make him fall behind till his 6 level so that he won't be able to do so much damage. If you see that he does a lot of damage when he hits 6,ask help from your jungler to shut him down.

VS

Katarina

Medium

Katarina is also based on the skill the skill the player has. You could beat Katarina, but you could also lose hard to Katarina. Try to deal as much damage as possible before she hits 6. After she has her ult, she'll be able to possibly kill you, unless you use your W right and stun her. You could also get Exhaust to prevent her from dealing too much damage when she uses her combo.

VS

Kayle

Medium

Just try not to trade face to face with her, since she can slow you and then slap your face a lot of times and she'll probably do more damage overall. You can just use your W+E to deal some damage to her and you should tell your jungler to come gank before she has her ult, because you'll probably not be able to kill her.

VS

Kennen

Easy

Dodge his Q, win the lane basically. Be careful of his ult though, he could burst you down if he uses his combo after 6.

VS

Kha'Zix

Hard

Playing against an Assassin, like Kha'Zix is pretty hard, that's because Twisted Fate is super squishy and if he jumps on you,he will deal tons of damage. To beat him,you have to pick Gold Card as soon as possble he jumps on you. That way,you stun him and you poke him down with some Auto Attacks and a Q.

VS

LeBlanc

Hard

Against LeBlanc, you got to be aware of her Q-W combo and try to farm as much as possible, trading with her isn't the best.Ask help from your jungler to kill her and increase your gold lead.

VS

Lissandra

Medium

Lissandra isn't that hard if you know how to handle her well. Try to dodge her Q and as soon as you do, try to combo her to deal some nice damage. Keep doing that and you'll eventually be able to Flash + Combo to kill her. If she has her ult up though, she could possibly burst you down so be careful. Also, if she's low on health, has her ult up and you want to Flash + Combo to kill her, don't forget that she can use her ult to herself and dodge your combo.

VS

Lulu

Medium

Lulu will probably try to push the lane as soon as the game starts. She'll try to Q you when you are under the turret trying to farm. Against Lulu, you can't do much alone to be honest. So if your jungler won't come to gank, just try to farm and not die.

VS

Lux

Medium

Against Lux, you have to avoid getting hit by her E, as this is her main damage ability on laning face. If you get hit by it though, don't let her AA you because that will proc Thunderlods and her passive and will do tons of damage. If you ask help from your jungler you could easily kill her as she has no escape abilities. If you manage to kill her you'll get a great advantage and after that a nice idea would be to push the lane and roam around the map. When she gets 6 level, try not to get hit by her Q because she could burst you.

VS

Morgana

Easy

Morgana will try to push the lane with her W as soon as the first minion wave comes. So when she uses her W, try to combo her down, and try to dodge her Q, which is pretty easy if you think about it. If you keep doing the combo, you could potentially kill her, but don't forget that she has her E, which gives her a shield and prevents all Stuns/Slows etc. So your Gold Card won't work here if she uses it correctly. Also, if you get hit by her Q and she has her ult up, you'll probably get bursted down and die.

VS

Nidalee

Easy

Against Nidalee, when playing Twisted Fate,is pretty much easy.If you W --> Q to her,she won't be able to do anything against you.Remember that you have to dodge her Spear and by bying Boots,it will be easier

VS

Orianna

Medium

Against Orianna, try to dodge her Q as much as possible, and if you do so, then try to do your combo to her. Don't forget that her auto attacks deal a lot of damage, and if you try to trade she'll also have her shield, so basically she could just auto attack and have her shield up and win the trade.

VS

Ryze

Easy

As long as you stay out of Ryze's range, the lane will be pretty easy.Just try to poke him down with some Qs and if you find the opportunity to kill him, stack your E,then Flash-Stun,throw your Q,your ignite and some Auto Attacks.

VS

Syndra

Hard

This matchump I'd say is pretty hard, with her long range Q you won't be able to do much, since she will be able to spam her spells on you from far behind and you won't be able to do anything. If you also get stunned, she could even kill you before she hits 6. So be careful of her stun and if she gets her ult up, try to safe farm with your Q. DON'T GET TOO CLOSE TO HER!

VS

Talon

Hard

Like every AD assassin, it's hard to play against a Talon, he can basically jump on you and deal tons of damage, and if he has his ult up, say bye-bye. On laning face, if you dodge his W, you can trade him with your W to deal some damage. Be careful though of his E, he can jump on you and deal a lot of damage after.

VS

Veigar

Medium

Pre-6, Veigar, is pretty easy to deal with, after he gets his ult though if you get stunned you are basically dead. Try to poke him a lot before he has his ult up since he'll also use his Q to farm minions so that he will get more AP. You could potentially kill him but be careful of his stun. If you get stunned they might also gank you and you'll die.

VS

Vel'Koz

Easy

Push the lane as soon as the first minion wave comes. He'll be forced to use his spells to farm and then you can combo him and he won't be able to do anything. When he gets his ult, try to dodge his E. If you don't, he'll burst you down.

VS

Xerath

Medium

I'd say it's medium against a Xerath but also kind of hard. He can use his Q from far away and you won't be able to do anything but dodge. When you try to farm he'll use his Q again. He will basically get you to 20% of health by using his Q+W the whole time. So, a good tactic is too just farm, and ask for a gank. Don't try to 1v1 him because you'll die.

VS

Yasuo

Hard

A good Yasuo will take his E level 1 against you. If he does so, he'll be able to E through minions to get the max stack of his E, and then E + Auto Attack into you and deal a lot of damage (Especially if he also criticals). Basically, try to deal damage tohim when his W is down, and poke his shield as soon as he gets it, with one auto attack. Try to avoid his knockup after he gets 6 because he'll possibly be able to kill you. Ask for some help from your jungler to take down his flash or possibly even kill him.

VS

Zed

Hard

Hard matchup. His W+Q+E combo will get your health from 100 to 50. Try to avoid getting poked by him, and just farm. When you have the chance, you can use your combo to deal some damage but only when his W is down. Also, try to stay behind from minions because his Q will deal less damage if it hits 2 or more targers. When he gets his 6, just don't get near him. He'll burst you down in no time.

VS

Ziggs

Medium

Being against a Ziggs might be either easy or hard, but mostly hard. That's because not every Ziggs would play actually aggresive on you.If you manage to dodge his Q,you will pretty much win your lane if you play your Cards properly.

VS

Zilean

Medium

Zelian can spam his Q a lot and that can be pretty annoying since it actually deals

decent damage. But, he has nothing else than his Q to poke you. So, you can try to poke him with some blue cards but be aware that if he hits two Qs on you, he'll stun you and deal even more damage.

VS

Zyra

Hard

I haven't played vs Zyra mid for a while now, since she is being played on support mostly but I think it's hard to play against her. She can deal lots of damage and if you try to poke her, she'll root you with her E and you won't be able to damage her. Furthermore, if she has her ult up, she could possibly burst you if you get caught by her E, so be careful when playing against her and just farm and ask help from your jungler!

Spots to Ward Back to Top

  • 1-2: I use my two trinket wards as soon as I get them, on the spots 1 and 2. This provides me great information about the enemy ganking and I am pretty confident in pushing the lane. If you see someone who's camping there, you can call your jungler to countergank and possibly kill them.
  • 3-4 : You could possibly also ward on the spots 3 and 4, if you have a good eye you could spot them from earlier and if they try to check for wards on the spots 1 or 2, they won't find any and they'll waste their sweeping lens.
  • 5-6 : If you want to countergank their jungle, you can ward on the spots 5 and 6. Stealing their blue from champions that extremely need mana like 13.png or 34.png is extremely helpful on your hand.

Early Game Back to Top

  • Twisted Fate is not so good at early game as he is pretty squishy, especially against Assassins. You have to play safe and try to stun the person that is trying to engage on you.
  • When being low on Mana, try to harass your opponent with your Blue Card,as it deals most damage and it also gives you back some Mana.
  • Twisted Fate's synergy with a jungler is great,as he has his Stun Card, you can pretty much Flash-Stun your opponent and then burst him with your jungler's help.
  • Try poking as much as possible with your Q and don't face your opponent straight face to face, play passive and if you see that you have low Mana, just try to last hit with Blue Cards.
  • I mostly play Twisted Fate pretty safe before my 6 Level, after i get my Ulti,i push my lane as soon as possible and try to find somewhere to Gank.

Middle Game Back to Top

  • Twisted Fate works perfect with Middle Game.
  • When playing Twisted Fate, you got to have a fantastic Map Awareness,as you can provide help to your teammates by ulting to them.
  • Try to find situations where your teammates get ganked, and turn around the fight from a 2vs3 to a 3vs3,if you kill them all, force a Dragon or take some Turrets.
  • Wave clear by throwing your Red Card on the second Caster Minion and then throw your Q,after that, try to find a lane to gank.
  • If you think that a gank will NOT work, just don't waste your time and keep farming, when you feel like the gank will succeed, just go ahead and do it.

Late Game Back to Top

  • On Late Game,Twisted Fate is actually really great.
  • If you are on Blue Side, split push on Bot Lane and tell your teammates to prepare for Baron. After you are on the Turret you want to push,an enemy will probably come to stop you. Then your teammates should start doing baron and you can simply use your Destiny to teleport to them. Also his W procs with 3100_32.png so it's pretty easy to push Turrets.
  • On a teamfight, try to find the most squishy target(AD Carry or AP Carry probably) and try to burst him down with your Core Build, first of all stack your E,then pick a Gold Card then throw it and finally use your Q and if the target won't die, ignite him and throw some Auto Attacks while he is Stunned.
  • Having 3157_32.png lets you initiate a fight.Use your Ulti into the enemy team and then Stun the ADC or APC,after that simply use 3157_32.png and let your teammates do the other work.

Teamfights Back to Top

  • On a Teamfight, you have to position well, especially against targets with high burst.
  • Try to catch the ADC or APC and burst him down.If you manage to completely delete him,the fight will be 5vs4 and your team will probably win.
  • Try to hit as many Gold Cards as possible.
  • Spam your Q and deal some AoE damage to them.
  • You can engage the fight,by Flashing-Stunning a target, then your team will catch him and you will kill him.
  • Of course, try to stay alive.

Champions To Ban Back to Top

About the bans, you could ban what is good on the current meta. I can't exactly tell you the bans, since everyone's divisions and skills are different. One thing I could tell you though, is to ban maybe a champion you really hate to play against or something like that.
