Summoner Spells Back to Top

Not much to say for this one. Standard summoner spells for TF. I generally take 6.png because it makes up for his lack of mobility, but when against someone bursty like Leblanc or Zed take up 21.pngor 3.png.  1.png Is situational if you're up against a jungler such as 60.png or a mid laner like 127.png

Masteries Back to Top

The masteries you generally want to go on TF is 12-18-0. Savagery and Natural Talent will give you an easier time farming in lane, and we're taking Bounty Hunter instead of Double Edge Sword because TF has a hard time fighting people early in lane. You will be picking up kills with your ultimate anyways, having you scale into the late game nicely.

Feast will help you sustain, as well as the potion mastery, because you will be mostly farming up until 6. Feel free to take Expose Weakness for your team if you plan on roaming alot or if you're staying in the back line in teamfights. I never take fresh blood because I feel it's a useless mastery.

Tf is very good with the exectioner mastery, and you won't have to invest in meditation because you already have mana sustain with your blue card.

The reason I have Greenfathers gift is because Tf is an excellent roamer, and when ulting towards an enemy into a brush, they wont be able to see where you teleported (unless the brush is warded) so it's good to take advantage of that with this mastery. Intelligence will help you in all stages of the game, having your ult up most of the time to get picks and your W in case you need to peel.

If you're having trouble in lane and are forced to Q in lane for farm, take a second point in your W early so mana wont be too much of a problem. Take a second point in your Q at lvl 3 if your just poking with your Q.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

I normally start these items every game, dorans ring gives very good stats overall
I start these when up against a champion that relies on skillshots, such as lux or ahri.

Core Items

First back, sheen gives mana and CDR for ulting and staying in lane easier.
If you're ahead in lane, feel free to take more AP, just be cautious of your mana.
Choose one, I take Ionian boots about 90% of the time. Sorcerers are situational if you're ahead or need that little extra damage.
Lich bane is one of the best items for TF, and is a big powerspike.
Goes well with lich bane for extra damage, which will be build into another hextech item later. You can pick up a codex early for an extra 10% cdr, and will be built into either a Hourglass or Abyssal later.
Ludens echo is great for extra burst and catching up to enemies, and GLP compliments that with the minor slow and tanky stats it gives. Replace GLP with a void staff if enemy is stacking MR.
Rabadons gives a very high amount of AP, which I normally take late game because of it's high cost. Make a choice between hourglass if you're getting bursted or abyssal if enemy has AP.

Situational Items

Get a second dorans ring if you back early and are having a tough time in lane.
Take seekers armguard if up against someone that is AD, then start going off into the general build. Start negatron cloak if you are having a tough time against an AP champ.
pick one of these up first for early resistances if you are having a rough time or against a matchup that isnt much in your favor.

VS

Ahri

Hard

Ahri can easily catch up to you with her ultimate once she hits 6, and if you don't have any summoners up you're most likely dead. Try trading with her before this happens.

VS

Aurelion Sol

Medium

Play passive until he decides to try and engage on you with his aurelionsolQ.png. If you manage to dodge his stun try to get close to him so his aurelionsolW.png wont hit. Stick onto him with gold cards from your pickacard.png and you will potentially get a kill or a summoner spell from him.

VS

Ekko

Medium

With the removal of Ekko's slow on his passive, you can try and trade with him if he decides to go in or if he misses a ekkoQ.png. Be careful of using your pickacard.png too much in lane or taking too much poke, because he can easily engage on you. Avoid his ekkoW.png in lane the best you can or you may have to use a summoner.

VS

Lissandra

Medium

Lissandra isnt very mobile outside of her lissandraE.png, and her base movespeed is rather low. Her lissandraQ.png has pretty low range, but once she hits 6 you should try to play passive. You can disengage from a fight if you manage to land a gold card. Try to poke her down with wildcards.png before 6 if you plan on killing her.

VS

Malzahar

Hard

The spellsheild from 90.pngwill restrict you from going in to try and trade, and if he gets an  alzaharmaleficvisions.png on you with his alzaharnullzone.png on the field you have no choice but to run. Try to get his sheild down with your wildcards.png so you can get help from your jungler. Pick up a1057.png cloak early to try and survive an onslaught from his ultimate.

VS

Orianna

Medium

You outrange Orianna with your wildcards.png, although she can win trades with her auto damage and sheild from her E. Try to sustain your mana and farm/poke her as much you can.

VS

Vel'Koz

Easy

Try staying passive in a lane against vel koz until level 4. If you manage to dodge his skillshots you can engage on him with 6.png and pick up an easy kill with your jungler or get a summoner off on him. Once he hits 6 try to stray away from his ability range. Getting 1001.png early against him will help fighting him in lane.

VS

Yasuo

Hard

Play passive against yasuo, but try to auto down his passive sheild whenever you can. He can engage on you easily with yasuoE.pngand yasuoW.png . It's best to try to bait out Yasuo's Wind Wall or wait for your jungler before trying to fight him.

VS

Zed

Hard

Zed is a pretty tough to handle once he hits 3, if you get too close he can engage on you and easily land a combo off. If you are able to dodge his skillshots you can potentially out trade him, but once he gets 6 play passive and try to get kills around the map or wait until you get a 3157.png.

A bit about myself. Back to Top

I started playing League when Season 4 started to come to a close. I picked up TF back in season 5, and I've mained him ever since. In season 5 I was gold 2, I didn't play Tf in ranked much, but in season 6 I played him much more and was able to hit plat 3 a few days before the season ended playing mostly Twisted Fate.
