Summoner Spells Back to Top

11.png Smite is mandatory!

Pick one:
4.png Flash in case you feel like ganking over walls, or dodging skillshots
6.png Ghost in case you feel going over the speed of sound

New Runes Back to Top

Predator.png?width=64 Predator: This rune is what makes Udyr viable. Excessive amounts of speed is just what he needed!

cheap%20shot1.png?width=32 Cheap Shot: You get free True damage whenever you stun and hit your enemy, so why not? BTW Sudden%20Impact.png?width=32 Sudden Impact does not work on Udyr's Bear Stance, because it's just an autoattack with increased range.

Eyeball%20Collection.png?width=32 Eyeball Collection: Out of the three options, this one is the one that raises your damage. Since you will gank a lot, you will come by a lot of wards, and each one you destroy gives you one eyeball.

Relentless%20Hunter.png?width=32 Relentless Hunter: You don't need to go and try to get all the Bounties, but the more you have the easier you will gank people.

Celerity.png?width=32 Celerity: this will make you fast and add damage based on your bonus movespeed to your attacks. You have Bear Stance, Monkey's Agility, Boots of Swiftness, Deadman's Plate AND Youmuu's Ghostblade to boost you up!

Waterwalking.png?width=32 Waterwalking: Synergises well with Celerity, and with the fact that you will use the river as your highroad to Speed City.

Not much to talk about. Get Tiger lvl 1 for faster jungling, then Turtle so you can leave the jungle with some dignity, and finally Bear so you can start ganking people.

From there onwards, level your Tiger whenever you can, intercalating with Bear. When you're done with them, you can finish up Turtle and then Phoenix.

Alternatively, if you are feeling cheesy, you can level Bear instead of Turtle at level 2 and try First Blood. But beware, you still don't have enough movespeed (from Boots+Predator) to go all-in!

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

Machete gives you Attack Speed against monsters, and Refillable Potion becomes the most-useful Hunter's Potion

Core Items

    GOTTA GO FAST BOIII

Situational Items

Mainly red items, because it's the best colour in the universe, coincidentially they give AD and CDR which are hella useful when you're trying to SEEK AND DESTROY
Control Wards whenever you can; Elixir when you're full!

I could go all day explaining what other items you can choose, but those are the ones that come to mind when you want to make the river red with the enemy's blood.

1041.png Machete has built-in attack speed against monsters, which is primordial for a good start.
3252.png Poacher's dirk is a great way to build Ghostblade. Build it only if you can safely steal enemy camps.
3742.png vs 3142.png: If the enemy is heavy on AD, use Deadman's Plate. If they are not good at defending their turf, Ghostblade will help you gank and invade them. Either way, get both.
3124.png Guinsoo is expensive and should only be bought if you are stomping people.

In case you are wondering: black, blue then white are the best colours after red.

VS

Ashe

Medium

She has an extremely hard to dodge slow (and very effective at that) and a stun that's almost the size of the dragons. Don't bother with her, unless you're fed.

VS

Caitlyn

Medium

Her traps are easy to stop, but a well placed slow will stop your gank attempt faster than you can say gank attempt! Also, gigantic basic attack range.

VS

Corki

Medium

If you try and gank him, he has two options: flee with his dash, or all-in against you. The latter can work sometimes, so be careful. If he's out of mana, it's safe to engage; otherwise, tread carefully.

VS

Draven

Hard

He has a lot of speed, a combo of hard and soft CC, and more damage than you can afford to take. Leave him alone.

VS

Ezreal

Easy

He can poke you down, which is disencoraging, and his blink ability can go over walls, but that alone won't save him if he's past the middle of the lane!

VS

Jhin

Medium

He may not have dashs and blinks, but his invisible traps will severely slow you down, and a follow-up W of his will give him enough room to walk away from danger.

VS

Jinx

Medium

Dodging her slow is easy when you are fast like a bullet from hell, but her traps will make you detour, and potentially lose your gank, so beware.

VS

Kalista

Medium

Be careful, she may be weak but her oathsworn ally may be not.

VS

Kog'Maw

Easy

You can side-step his slow. Low health and armor equals easy kills for you!

VS

Lucian

Medium

He's fast, has a dash and tons of damage, but no CC makes him just a challenging prey.

VS

Miss Fortune

Easy

The only way she can stop you is using her slow, which she probably will not level much. Low health and low armor equals mince meat!

VS

Sivir

Medium

Sivir has superior agility, both her ultimate and passive will make her faster. Also, her shield will block your stun and grant her stun immunity (Bear Stance) for 6 seconds.

VS

Tristana

Hard

Her ultimate will send you back to the jungle, and her jump will make you wish you didn't gank at all.

VS

Twitch

Medium

Twitch has a powerful area-of-effect slow and can (and will!) go invisible if you try to gank him; but be alerted, because he can go back and start attacking you from VERY far away.

Udyr hates everything that is out of his reach.

VS

Varus

Hard

Varus has a combination of area slow and hard CC. Gank him only if you are confident that you can dodge his ultimate!

VS

Vayne

Medium

If you try to gank her, do so when she already used her ultimate, because she can all-in  you with tons of true damage and an excellent disengage skill.

VS

Xayah

Easy

She can use her ultimate to get away from you, sure, but then you just have to side step her E and she's done. That, or gank soon again.

How to play: Back to Top

There are many counters against Udyr and/or this build in general.

  • First: enemies that can move faster than Udyr and especially those that can go jump over walls: don't bother chasing them, unless they already used EVERYTHING - from Spells and Skills to mana and health! - otherwise don't mind them.
120.png11.png38.png19.png
  • Second: enemies that can stop you on your tracks, or slow you down. Doesn't matter if they are your target, this enemy can screw you up and will do everything in it's power to do so. They are not a primary threat, but a huge nuisance.
267.png89.png40.png222.png
  • Third: enemies that either deal more damage than you do (burst mages and assassins) or enemies that will not die in less than 5 seconds (tanks and bruisers do that a lot). If matched against them, you will have then to change from Assassin to Tank or Fighter, and this is not what this build is about.
84.png11.png240.png78.png
  • And last but not least (actually the most important), any combinations of the above!!!
238.png141.png121.png90.png

Now that the counters are out of the way, we can talk about your targets.
High priority targets are usually ADCs, but some of them have escapes and snares, so let me put everything in a more general way:

NO SPELLS > LOW MANA > LOW HEALTH > LOW ARMOR

Between two nearly identical targets, focus the one with lower level, even if it grants less gold/experience.
The plan is for you to use the Predator rune enchantment+the river+Rift Scuttler's buff to get the most movespeed. This is so you can get close before they can react, and to not let them run away.
