Summoner Spells Back to Top

4.png Flash is the first summoner you should use, as we all know Flash is a very good summoner that appears on almost all champions. I would take it on Urgot as well because of its reliability.

12.png Teleport is another good summoner icon if you’re playing him in a solo lane. If you’re playing him top then it is recommended that you take this to help your team and get back to lane quicker.

7.png Heal is a must have if you’re playing ADC Urgot. I would recommend taking Heal because it’s a defensive summoner that will heal you and an ally for an amount of health. Alternatively you can take heal if you’re in midlane.

3.png Exhaust is to only be used if you’re playing midlane or top. If you’re in an uncomfortable matchup where the enemy has a lot of kill potential or is an assassin then it may be wise to take Exhaust.

6.png Ghost is a second summoner spell that can be used with Flash. Ghost got nerfed a while ago so it isn’t as good as before. Only take this if the lane will go equal and you have no kill potential.

New Runes Back to Top

For Urgot I recommend taking precision as the main tree.
Press%20the%20Attack.png?width=32 Press the attack is good on Urgot because he can easily proc the damage with his W.
Triumph.png?width=32 Triumph is also good on him because Urgot can- in many matchups go for kills and easily kill the enemy. I recommend taking it for sustain.
Legend%20Tenacity.png?width=32Legend: Tenacity is good as well because he is rather immobile with only one escape that isn't amazing. Having extra tenacity is good on Urgot.
Coup%20De%20Grace.png?width=32 Finally Coup de Grace is a good Rune on him because it will let him deal extra damage.

In the second tree I recommend Sorcery.

Celerity.png?width=32 Celerity is good as you gain extra movement speed which you need.
The%20Ultimate%20Hat.png?width=32The ultimate hat is also incredibly good for your ultimate. Your ultimate is insane when going for 1v1 fights, so having this on an incredibly short cooldown will allow you to fight more often.

URGOT'S PASSIVE IS ECHOING FLAMES

Urgot’s passive is very strange! Attacking an enemy in the direction of one of his legs will cause the leg to explode dealing physical damage to enemies in a cone going outwards. The leg that explodes then goes on cool down. If a consecutive auto attack has been cast within the cool down duration then damage is reduced.

Screenshot_3.png

URGOT’S Q IS CORROSIVE CHARGE

Urgot’s Q is corrosive charge. He fires an explosive charge to a location dealing physical damage to enemies that are hit by it. They are then slowed for 1 second and are “locked onto” You should try to focus locking on to champions instead of minions. Urgot’s Q should be used before using W.

Screenshot_4.png

URGOT’S W IS PURGE

Urgot’s  W is Purge, Urgot shields himself and shoots a gun towards the nearest enemy. It prioritizes champions that are locked onto and triggers echoing flames when possible. Urgot walks slower but becomes resistant to incoming slows. He can also walk over non champions (minions) but he cannot auto attack. It is best to use this while moving utilizing his Passive and exploding as many legs as possible.

Screenshot_5.png

URGOT’S E IS DISDAIN

Urgot will dash towards a direction, if he runs into a enemy champion then he will throw them over him. It will damage them and lock onto them. If he passes through minions then they are knocked aside.

Screenshot_6.png

URGOT’S R IS FEAR BEYOND DEATH

Urgot’s R is Fear Beyond Death, Urgot will fire a drill beacon that attaches to the first enemy it comes into contact with, locking onto them and dealing physical damage as well as slowing them.
While impaled if the target falls below a health threshold (25%of their maximum health) then Urgot may recast his ultimate to suppress the targets and reel then into him. If he kills the enemy then he will terrify all nearby enemies.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

You want to pick up corrupting potion at the start because it will give you the best possible start to the game. Having 3 pots will allow you to continuously regenerate health when needed and can come in handy throughout the game, this one time purchase will mean you no longer need to buy potions!
If you’re not feeling corrupting potion then I suggest taking either Doran’s Shield or Doran’s Blade. If you’re in an easy matchup that you think you can win then you might get away with Doran’s Blade. If however you don’t want the Blade then you can take the Shield. Recent changes to the Shield make it not as strong however the passive on it will keep you afloat in the early laning.

Core Items

The Black Cleaver is your first major item. I would recommend getting this item first because of the amazing overall stats it provides you. The Item gives 400 Health 40 Attack Damage and 20% Cooldown Reduction. This item is really strong because of those stats it provides you with.
Maw of Malmortius should be your Second item, it is a very unique item with its passive being the main reason you’re picking it up. Its passive gives you a shield that is activated when an AP champion deals tons of magic damage, the shield absorbs 300 (+100% bonus magic resistance) for 5 seconds. This can save your life and prevent further engage from enemies.
Purchase and upgrade boots as your 3rd item. Depending on the enemy team comp, you should buy either Merc Treads or Ninja Tabi.
Frozen Mallet should be your fourth item. The item itself gives you 700 health and 30 AD. This item is great because of its passive and stats. Basic attacks slow the enemy target, this allows you to get in range to use your other abilities and make it easier for you to hit your ultimate. Urgot isn’t a tank, but the extra Health really helps him out!
Gargoyle Stoneplate is a pretty good item and can be brought to make Urgot more tanky. The active on the item makes him more tanky too.
Guardian angel is your final item, the extra damage is nice but all we really care about is the passive. Upon taking lethal damage you are resurrected and brought back to life with reduced health.

Situational Items

    QSS stops crowd control
Item is good, haven't tried it but gives insane healing
Increased life steal and ability to escape from ganks or enemies. Could come in handy if you are being focused hard by enemy frontline.
Item Buffed, Would be good on Urgot if you need more defensive stats.

VS

Ashe

Easy

I would not recommend playing Urgot ADC. However, in this matchup you need to play around with your support to obtain the best opportunity to win the mid-late game. You need to just farm up and ward and prepare for team fighting. In the laning phase you need to just farm up and try to deny the enemy as much CS as possible. You can poke the enemies down with your abilities and if you’re getting a gank you can initiate the gank with your E. You should be aware of Ashes ultimate as it is an insane stun, if you can dodge this then the lane will be much easier, you are very immobile so you need to dodge that skill shot.

VS

Caitlyn

Hard

I would not recommend playing Urgot ADC. However, in this matchup you need to play around with your support to obtain the best opportunity to win the mid-late game. You need to just farm up and ward and prepare for team fighting. In the laning phase you need to just farm up and try to deny the enemy as much CS as possible. You can poke the enemies down with your abilities and if you’re getting a gank you can initiate the gank with your E. This is a horrible matchup for Urgot because of Caitlyn’s range- for this matchup you need to just farm and be prepared to lose CS and not take to much damage from her autos. You should sacrifice the CS but stay in XP range.

VS

Camille

Medium

Camille is a difficult matchup in some matchups, sadly this is one of them. However it isn’t as terrible as some matchups. In this lane you want to focus on farming and staying out of the range of her abilities. You should try to poke her whenever she comes near you. When you’re both farming, position where one of your undestroyed legs are and auto her with the extra damage. This is a fighting lane and beware of her jumping around with her abilities. Like Yasuo, this lane can be made easier by your Passive when she jumps around the lane. You want harass her whenever she is in range of your abilities while she is farming.

VS

Darius

Medium

Darius is an awkward matchup. You have one major job in this lane- Don’t die. Darius’s passive will completely destroy you if he gets free harassment. In this matchup you want to play safe and harass him whenever you’re able to. Urgots Passive is really good for this matchup as you can deal extra damage with your legs. You should try to kite him around with your legs, if he is chasing you, then you should Q him, lock onto him and then W him so he you deal extra damage while running away.

VS

Fiora

Medium

Fiora is a medium matchup, she would be a hard matchup but with her recent nerfs she has become less useful. Fiora has a very strong 1v1 and can easily kill you because of your immobility. I would recommend trying not to push even though you can’t help it. You want to poke her whenever she goes to farm. To beat Fiora you need to focus on surviving and just farming, poking her down whenever possible and asking for ganks.

VS

Fizz

Medium

Fizz early game is rather easy to play against however later on it is more difficult, you want to abuse him whenever he comes in to farm. However be away of his Level 3 and 6 all ins. His E has a rather long cooldown, so you should be aware of this and play around it, if he uses it then you should go in to harass him, if he still has it up then you should play safer. If you get an early Hexdrinker in this lane then he will be less scary to play against and it will be safer to trade with him and poke him. Your Passive is really good in this matchup because whenever he runs around you can just auto him and do passive damage.

VS

Garen

Easy

Garen is an easy matchup because Garen in general is pretty useless, In the laning phase all he will do is Farm, He can interrupt some of your abilities with his Silence, but overall not much else. In this lane you want to focus on poking him down and making sure he cannot regenerate his health back from his Passive.

VS

Kog'Maw

Hard

I would not recommend playing Urgot ADC. However, in this matchup you need to play around with your support to obtain the best opportunity to win the mid-late game. You need to just farm up and ward and prepare for team fighting. In the laning phase you need to just farm up and try to deny the enemy as much CS as possible. You can poke the enemies down with your abilities and if you’re getting a gank you can initiate the gank with your E. Kog’Maw can poke you very hard so you need to focus on surviving and dodging his abilities, Kog’Maw is very squishy so a gank can completely destroy him

VS

Lucian

Medium

Recently Lucian has been played in all the lanes, and if you’re unfortunate enough to play against him then get ready for a rough ride! Lucian is very strong and very mobile, which is something Urgot is not. In this lane you want to play safe but also poke him down with your abilities. If Lucian wastes his E then it would be a perfect time to go for a combo. This is because he will not be able to dodge any of your damage output, remember to walk and kite around and using your passive legs to your full advantage.

VS

Maokai

Easy

Maokai is easy to play against because he is a tank and you should poke him down whenever possible. However just because he is a tank that doesn’t mean this is a free lane. The reworked Maokai has very good damage output with his saplings that are put into bushes, you should avoid bushes if you know they contain saplings. Maokai’s passive gives him health back too so that is a disadvantage for you as you will not be able to kill him as easily. Maokai also has a lot of gank potential with his insane ultimate and W, You should be aware of the enemy jungler and need to look out for him.

VS

Orianna

Hard

It was once said that Orianna has no counters. Get ready for a bumpy ride because Urgot doesn’t counter Orianna. You need to play safe and not get poked down by her auto attack damage. Do not underestimate the damage that she can do, she has really high base damage that can completely wreck your early game. Luckily she is quiet immobile to and you can set up ganks with your E.

VS

Renekton

Hard

I would rate Renekton as a hard matchup. The reasoning behind this is that Renekton’s a hard champion to play against in general. He has insane burst that can completely destroy anybody who he gets close to, using his fury bar- Renekton has constant healing and successful damage output. Renekton is a lane bully just like Urgot however it may be favoured for the Renekton. In this matchup you want to Q and W him whenever he comes in for a combo, you should walk into him however not in range of his auto attacks, and you should use your passive to kite around him dealing as much bonus damage as possible. If he becomes too dangerous then I suggest using your E to escape and playing passive.

Overall, Renekton is a hard champion to play against in general so I am rating him as Hard.

VS

Riven

Hard

Riven is a very hard to play against because she has a very strong 1v1 presence and can easily kill you. Urgot must be very patient when playing this matchup because of her early damage and surprising burst that she can produce. Unfortunately it is not recommended to push against Riven because she can turn easily turn around, CC you and kill you. Additionally she has good gank assistance and potential, if you were to push the lane a gank would kill you. To beat Riven you should deny her farm and XP by either poking her down early, Freezing the wave or getting ganks and camping her.

VS

Shen

Easy

You are very good vs Shen. Shen doesn’t deal a lot of damage early game so you should have a fine time laning against him. However you will need to be aware of his gank potential with the taunt from his E. You are good vs Shen because you can cancel his ultimate with your E. In this lane you want to focus on farming and trying to poke him down so it will be suicide to farm or use ultimate to help a team mate- Your job is to make him as useless as possible.

VS

Syndra

Hard

Syndra is horrible to lane against in general, and this is the same for Urgot. Syndra is quiet immobile like Urgot but she has the range advantage. Like many other champions Syndra has a lot of skill shots to try and hit which is unfortunate for you. Urgot is very immobile so you need to dodge them when possible. Your W gives you a shield so whenever she uses her Ult then I would suggest using it whenever she is about to ult. Syndra can be quiet easy to gank, if you can set up a gank by poking her down and using your E whenever your jungler is near to get closer to her. I would suggest getting early magic resist.

VS

Talon

Medium

Talon has insane poke early game which can be quiet hard to lane against. You need to survive in this matchup and just farm, He is melee so you need to poke him down whenever he comes to farm. Using your Q and W combo is a good way of doing this. Talon is very mobile so you need to keep that in mind as he will be able to rotate quickly- Let your lanes know this.

VS

Teemo

Medium

Teemo is an Easy/Medium Matchup and there are a few reasons for this. Firstly he is very squishy so if you can poke him down with your Q W combo then this lane will be easier. Teemo can be quiet frustrating to play against because of his blind and his mushrooms and his overall champion design. In this matchup you want to focus on bursting him down but also denying him CS. Teemo will naturally do a lot of damage so you must stick to sacrificing CS for XP if you become chunked. Urgot will perform well against Teemo if he can survive the burst damage from him.

VS

Twitch

VS

Yasuo

Medium

This is a medium matchup because Yasuo is very mobile, which means it can be hard for you to hit your Q or ultimate. Yasuo’s E can make him go through minions dodging all over the place, this means that the majority of your abilities can be countered, for example your Q will be hard to hit, using W may not be very good if he isn’t locked onto and your E and R will be impossible to hit if you cannot land them if he’s dodging. However, Yasuo is Yasuo. Let him outplay himself, wait for him to use his dashes on the minions before you strike. Your passive is good for this lane because he will be going around the whole lane. Locking him down and shutting him down early is what you should do to win this matchup.

Tips and Tricks Back to Top

  1. Before using your W, you should try to have the enemy locked onto, otherwise this is a wasted ability, and this is because his W will attack anyone including minions unless an enemy target is locked on to.
  2. Taking Thunderlords is a good way to win the early game laning, Using your Q and W you can proc thunderlords very easily.
  3. Your E cannot go over walls.
  4. If you decide to go 18-12-0 and taking Fervor then a simple Q and W combo will stack it very easily and will increase your AD.
  5. The travel time on your ultimate is very slow, you should use it on targets that are slow to or that are CC’d. The ultimate is easy to dodge.
  6. Also the cast time of your E is slow at the start (travel time.)
  7. You cannot Auto attack while using your W
  8. Using your W is a good way to get towers down faster.

Combos Back to Top

E + Flash - Urgot can dash and then Flash to enemies for a quicker engage. This also makes it harder for enemies to dodge it.
Q + W - Main source of damage and lane combo
E +  Q + W - Another combo with dash involved.
E + Q + R + W + R - Trading Combo (main combo during team fights)
Q + W + E + R + R - Another example Combo.

Remember : Use your leg explosions for maximum damage.
