Summoner Spells Back to Top

Patch 4.4 and before: Most situation i use barrier but some time you have to use cleanse playing against leona, fiddlesticks, ashe, varus....
Ashe is more optional because your Q can dodge her ultimate pretty easily.
- I know some people even if they're playing against Leona, they still don't use cleanse because they're just not comfortable with it. That's fine in some situation in the game but I just want to point out that 1.png is very important and it'd be a big advantage for you compared to other ADCs out there who use barrier in all match-up.

Patch 4.5 : We should all use heal now instead of barrier since the buff.
Patch 4.6-4.12: Still use heal but remember to switch back to 21.png when your support also brings heal because double heals won't be that effective anymore since the changes to it( read patch notes).
Patch 4.13: Heal has been nerfed. 21.png seems like a more relevant choice. 1.png is good when play against 4_64.png mid.
Patch 4.15-5.22: Heal is still a better option than Barrier. Use 1.png when they have 1_64.png support or 9_64.png jungle.
Patch 6.11: Heal is the only option.

Masteries Back to Top

Very standard. I use feast instead of using lifesteal in quints. I think that's enough for sustainability in lane.

Coming back to max W. Put 2 points in Q at lv 1 and 4. From then, start maxing W.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

    Just no better other way.

Core Items

1st item. Buy it for lifesteal and dueling.
3rd item. Statik shiv for wave-clearing. Phantom Dancer when they have Jax, Zed, Yasuo, Riven, Fiora, Irelia...
Boots. Most of the time, you wanna use attack speed boots, but in some rare occasions where they have Trundle, Swifty Boots wouldn't be so bad.
4th item. Mortal reminder for top lane champs who have self-healing or lifesteal such as: Darius, Fiora, Soraka.... Dominik's Regards for top lane who don't. Most of the time, I buy mortal reminder. // Black cleaver for the extra health.
2nd item. Absolutely broken item for Vayne right now. After fully stacked, every 2nd auto attack will trigger silver bolt. It would still be ok if you went tank vayne after this point.
full build for killing tanks. Ater full build, sell boots to buy Trinity Force.
full build for killing squishies. after full build, sell boots to buy tri force

Situational Items

Since 6.9 Qss now longer removes deathmark from Zed, so buy it when they have hard CC. There's no exact time to buy this item. It's very situational.
Buy it when they have leblanc.

VS

Annie

Hard

Always is a incredibly difficult champion to play against. Her kit's range is just too long for you. Whenever you walk up, shes just gonna throw a Q on your face and you're gonna slowly get poked down. Recommend going with: 267_64.png to sustain and trade back in lane. Tell nami to give you her E and then just walk up 1 auto attack and tumble (most basic combo). Notice if that Annie usually Q first and W, then what you can do is just walk up 1 auto attack and tumble backward because with that you can dodge her W right away.

VS

Ashe

Hard

Heavy poke and annoying. You should go with a support who has heal ability like Sona or you should all in her with Alistar or Leona. By maxing W as i do, she will be gone by 5 shots and comdemn. Try to dodge her ultimate with your Q or if you're not confident with dodging  her R, you can use 1.png. With the new Ashe, be very calculated when decide to 1v1 her because it's not as easy as it's used to be anymore. Watch the stacks on her passive, if it's almost 5 stacks then maybe you reconsider about 1v1 unless you can outplay her by dodging her ultimate.

VS

Blitzcrank

Easy

Your Q can dodge his hook so practice your reaction for that. Sometimes, he will just approach you and knock you up first, all you have to do is condemn him back. A good 53_64.png will not waste his hook and he will wait until your tumble is on cooldown to do it, so you need always need to save tumble for that situation. Don't let him take control the brush otherwise your support and u will get hooked all the time.

VS

Braum

Easy

Tanky champion but don't be too scared of him. When he jumps on you and gets close to you, don't freak out, just learn to react and tumble to dodge this Q. You can dodge his Q and his ult pretty easy in my opinion with a tumble to the side( not backward).

VS

Caitlyn

Hard

Many people say playing Vayne against 51_64.png is extremely difficult but I think it depends on your support more than about ADC. For example, if you Vayne and Nami playing against Caitlyn and Blitz, it will not be a hard match-up as long as you and Nami does't get hooked by Blitz. With her Q, she can push the lane really fast, all you can do is try to last-hit under the tower. Try to use your Q, W combo because when you max W, 3 shots will take half of her health already. When you all in her, she will use her E Q combo to disengage, so you need to tumble to a side to dodge her E otherwise you can't catch up unless you flash forward.

VS

Corki

Medium

After the nerf, Corki is so weak because the delay of his Q, you can dodge pretty much every time. It's as easy as Nami's bubble. If he tries to all in you with his W, u need to imediately use your R and tumble to the left or right and then condemn him to the wall.

When you walk up auto attack him, he will try to Q you so thats when you immediately tumble away(by away i mean not necessarily backward, it can be to the left or right depending on the situation).

VS

Draven

Hard

Lane bullier. A good Draven player never drops his axes in important moments. He's very strong through out the whole game, so be careful. He will play aggressively against you. Your E can make him drop his axe so use your combo 1 shot - Q - E. When he throws an axe, he will need time to catch it, that would be a great oppotunity for you to execute that combo. Call help from jungler to snowball early if you can. Recommend playing with offensive support - Leona, Alistar, Thresh, Nami.

VS

Ezreal

Medium

Be confident playing against Ezreal. Try to dodge it his Q and you will be able to win the lane. Don't get too far behind early because caster AD can snowball really hard.

VS

Graves

Hard

Strongest bully ADC as of right now. 525 Range Champ, so not much to worry about. Careful with his Q, you can dodge it by positioning well. Just one shot him and move back, please don't ever stay still, always MOVE. After lv 6, your tumble can dodge his R, it will be hard to do but not impossible. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ph-5fVk9iOg

VS

Jhin

Hard

- Beside his Q, all of his alities can be easily dodged by a simple side-step or tumble.

- The reload cooldown after his 4th shot are very long, so that's when you can attack.
- Don't trade when he has his 4th shot on.
- Use E to stop his ultimate.
- Won't be able to chase him down if he lands W on you.

VS

Jinx

Hard

Very strong champ with long range rocket. Play passively wait for jungle gank. She doesn't have that much escape ability so you can wait for oppotunity to all in her. Good support for you can be Alistar or Leona. She will switch to minigun to last hit minions, so that is the chance for you to poke back. Her W and Ult can be easily dodged.

VS

Kalista

Medium

This shouldn't be too hard of a match up for Vayne. Here's how you trade with Kalista in lane: Walk up and put down 1 auto attack, save the tumble to dodge her Q, and use the Auto + Q + E combo. The last thing you want is to play passive against Kalista. Use the auto q e combo correctly, you should be able to win trades any time. As long as you can use your tumble to dodge her Q, the lane should be in your favor.

- Don't stand behind a low hp minion because he can throw his Q through it.
- The DIFFICULTY of this match up will go from Medium -> Hard when Kalista's with a ranged support because her W synergizes so well with those long range support champions: Annie, Bard...

VS

Leona

Hard

Use 1.png for this match-up cuz she has a lot of stuns. Tumble to dodge her ultimate. When she jumps on you, tumble back and condemn her right away or in some situation you can tumble aside and condemn her to the wall. Recommend having a 25_64.png or 40_64.png support so they can help you disengage.

VS

Lucian

Medium

One of the Strongest ADC at the moment. Outdamage you all the way until you have Blade of the Ruined King. .Your tumble can dodge his Q but the timing needs to be perfect. It's hard to all in him because he can escape with his E.

- You can condemn him to stop his ult.

VS

Nami

Easy

I often play aggressively in this match-up because her bubble is kinda useless. There's just no way the bubble can be landed if you tumble properly.

VS

Sivir

Easy

Your tumble can dodge her boomerang pretty easily. Practice last-hitting under the tower because after the buff now she is a champ that can clear waves in 1 second. Don't condemn her when her shield is on because that would be wasted. You're stronger than her at any time of the game so you shouldn't be afraid to duel her.

VS

Thresh

Hard

This champion is so dangerous especially when he brings 14.png

- Use your Q to dodge his hook. Shouldn't be too hard.
- His E range is 475. Your range is 550. So practice your auto attack spacing so that he won't be able to get in range to flay you back.
- When a 412_64.png brings 14.png. If you get hooked, try to heal before he ignites to avoid the healing reduction from it.
3140_32.png can cleanse out his hook.

VS

Tristana

Medium

Try to shut down her early game especially before lv 6 because after 6 it would be very hard to catch her. Don't be afraid to trade with her, your silver bolts have more damage than her E. Don't stand close the minions are about to die because his E passive will poke you automatically without you even noticing. She's very STRONG after level 6, so you have to be careful when she jumps on you with her W. Recommend play with support Nami.

VS

Twitch

Medium

He's very strong. Try to dodge his W otherwise u will get tons of damage. I'd be good for you if you have a all in support because Twitch and so are all immobile ADCs are very bad against it. Leona would be a great choice.

VS

Urgot

Medium

- Use your Q to dodge his E so that you won't get poked too hard in lane.

- Even though he's tank but you can always 1v1. Just kite around him to dodge his Q cuz it's quite easy to dodge honestly.
- His lane is short in lane so you can just auto attack trade him in lane as long as you dodge his E and stay behind minions to avoid his Q ( it's like avoiding ezreal's Q)
- Consider getting a Quicksilver Sash later on when his ult is a threat to you but if you notice he doesn't use it on you and only focuses on the midlaner then maybe you don't have to.

VS

Varus

Medium

I'll use cleanse every time i play against Varus because his ult is just so hard to dodge by my tumble. Probably because my reaction is slow. Try to dodge his Q, i find it quite easy to dodge. He's pretty much like Ashe.  Always keep in mind that you can outplay him by flashing his ult but this requires practice and experience because you need to predict what he's going to do that. Try not to get hit by his abilities when he has 2 or 3 marks from his W on you because it increases a significant amount of damage.

Unique Tips & Tricks Back to Top

- When play 67_64.png, you need to pay very close attention of the enemy ADC's cooldown to make the best of the trade. For example, if a 42_64.png uses his Q to farm, you have 6-8 seconds of window when his Q cooldown to go in on him and trade. Do the same for Lucian's Q, Caitlyn's Q, Ezreal's Q, Blitzcrank's Q, Twitch's E, Tristana's E...

- When you 1v1 a 238_64.png, as soon as he ults you, you need to tumble immediately in a unexpected direction in order to condemn him into a wall so that you might have a chance of outplaying him. This video shows what I mean: https://youtu.be/StsbR_rPki0?t=1m23s . In this video, I was walking down bottom direction, but as soon as I see Zed ults me, I tumbled in the opposite direction of where I was headed and that's what I mean by "unexpected". After that, I immediately see a wall to condemn him into. If you succeed doing those 2 things, you will very likely kill him or at least not get killed by him.

- When champs that have dash decide to jump on you(Renekton's E, Irelia's Q, Rengar's ult....) you need to ult and Q immediately as soon as they jump in and stay invisible for the whole invisibility duration and then starts kiting back.
Example, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=144HJvJTzXs in this video, you see right after Rengar jumps on me, I didn't auto attack right after I tumble because as soon as I tumble he will see me so I waited the whole duration of my invisibility to gain as much distance as I could without them knowing which direction that I tumbled.

- Vayne is best at picking people off, isolating one person in teamfights, split pushing...
- Recommend using "Dragon slayer" Vayne.

Early Game + Mid Game + Late Game Back to Top

Early Game:
- Vayne is pretty weak early game(low base armor) but don't take this for granted and play passive all the time. You have to play aggressive to know the limit of the champion. You could die sometimes trying to play aggressive but then you will learn from there.
- Vayne from lv 3 - 4 is decent not that weak so no need to be afraid to trade. The period after this to before Blade of the Ruined King is when she's weak because of the lack of waveclear + short range + can only trade with auto attack.

Mid Game:
- After you have Blade of the Ruined King, this is when you can 1v1 most adc.
- Try to farm up at this point of get Phantom Dancer to become the biggest split pushing threat.
- Farm the jungle whenever you see they're up.
- I usually avoid teamfighting 5v5 as Vayne and focus more on split pushing because that's what she's good at. Sure you have to teamfight over objectives here and there but just focus more on the pushing part.
- Vayne is bad at sieging towers so avoid picking her with the team has good long-range poke. (Xerath Mid, Nidalee Jungle...)

Late Game:
- This point of the game you're gonna want to teamfight more because you can kill their tanks so quickly.
- When a fight happens, just remember "If I survive, we win the fight" so with that in mind don't try to dive in and kill their backlines instead just kite back and kill their tanks first and then deal with their backlines later because you will end up killing the enemy tanks quicker than the other team ADC anyway.
