Summoner Spells Back to Top

Normal ADC spells:

Take  heal against most matchups in for the stronger 2v2 in bot lane, and to keep you alive in teamfights.

Take Cleanse when you are up against high cc teams or cc lanes that can give you a lot of trouble, e.g. Annie and Leona

And of course, always take flash.

Exhaust has become an increasingly popular choice among high elo vaynes. It's main strength is the fact that it makes you almost undefeatable in duels, allowing you to splitpush very effectively. It's only draw back is that in fights against multiple enemies, it will not be as effective as heal, which gives you a burst of speed to kite back.

Masteries Back to Top

Standard ADC Masteries, I will discuss a few of the controversial choices

Double Edged Sword vs. Feast

I choose feast because as Vayne, you natuarlly have a tough laning and you are going to need as much sustain as possible.

Vampirisim vs Natural Talent

Vampirisim is superior because you want extra sustain in lane, whereas the bonus ad from Natural Talent is extremely subpar, by the time you are lvl 18, 10 ad doesnt matter

Why 12 in Cunning instead of Resolve?

The tier 2 masteries (Perserverance and Insight) both suck in comparison to dangerous game. While the extra hp and hp regen is enticing, i think the exexution masteries in cunning is too good to pass up.

Sadly the meta right now is League of Tanks, so maxing silver bolts first is the best method for maxmizing your damage output. Only max q first if you are planning to go Infinity Edge or Bloodthirster first instead of BOTRK.

Another situational path you can use is to max w from levels 1-5, and then after 6, you start maxing q. The reason for this is that the maxing w early on will give you added trading power in long trades, and once you get your ultimate, the lower cd on q will allow you to take advantage of stealth more.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

    Start this always

Core Items

Always get these 2, they synergize extremely well with each other.
always a good choice for AD carries, however, mercury treads are decent in some scenarios
Get these after you buy SS + RFC. Of course, dominiks regards can be switched for the grievious wounds alternative if sustain is a problem on the enemy team (ie soraka),
Still need to experiment with these, honestly thing RFC+SS > PD

Situational Items

PRESEASON 6

OK because of the new masteries and adc items I basically had to scrap this part of the guide and redo it.

Why get 3094.png +3087.png first???

The answer to that questions is WARRIOR'S BLOODLUST. This mastery is extremely broken right now, in fact, it is getting nerfed next patch probably so it only works on champions. Basically, this mastery gives you insane sustain based upon your crit chance. Plus, RFC + SS + your empowered Q as vayne can basically deal half of a squishies hp.

VS

Ashe

Hard

Ashe is an adc that very few can trade with, simply because as soon as you turn around after the trade, she will hammer you with her slow+q and empowered crits.

Vayne loses especially hard in this match up because Ashe has a much greater attack range, allowing her to poke and trade at ease. Her ult is great for picking off priority targets mid and late game.

Your best bet is to pick up an super aggresive support like blitzcrank or thresh, or an very defensive sustain support like soraka; ashe has no mobility to dodge hooks, and has trouble with all-ins on the latter.

VS

Caitlyn

Medium

No longer a very hard matchup IMO because right now supports influence the laning phase more than adcs now. Play safe and farm. If you do trade, than make sure to dodge caitlyn's q with tumble, and you will win the trade. Once you hit 6, you will be able to overpower her significantly as long as you are not too behind.

VS

Ezreal

Easy

This matchup pretty much is up to how you play it. If you can dodge his mystic shots early game, you pretty already have an advantage. Most Ezreals buy tear on their first back, leaving you with a window to create a lead, since you'll have better stats with a cutlass.  You outdamage him midgame for the most part, but be careful when he completes his muramana, because that gives him quite a big boost in damage.

VS

Graves

Hard

Graves pretty much out damages you all laning phase, making it hard for you to transition into a strong midgame. The only way you can duel him is by dodging his ult.

If you can get 1 or 2 kills early, then the lane becomes significantly easier due to him being useless when behind.

In laning phase, always be wary of his Passive Stacks, try not to trade when he has 10 stacks, because it practically gives him a free cloth armor.

VS

Jinx

Hard

Jinx can out trade simply beacuse of the extra range and 10% damage with her rockets. Her level 6 is just as frightening as yours, and the minigun mode with crit can make it very hard to duel her without a significant lead.

Good Jinxes will make it hell for you to farm. I recommend picking up a sustain support for this  matchup. Just do your best to farm under turret, and make sure to try to push the lane hard before you back so you dont lose your turret.

If you can make it to late game, you can explode her easily.

VS

Kalista

Hard

Another adc that deals tons of damage in the laning phase. Be wary of her w passive if she is playing with a ranged support, because if they proc that on you, you will lose the trade instantly. Kalista actually beats vayne in sustained trades, due to her rend stacks.

Take advantage of the fact that kalista has very little mobility when running away. Use your ult and botrk to force 1v1s mid game if she comes to lane for farm. Late game, kalista falls off pretty hard because she most likely won't build very much crit, and most kalistas dont get Infinity Edge.

VS

Sivir

Easy

Dodge her boomerang, win lane. Be wary of jungler ganks with her ult.
