Summoner Spells Back to Top

Anything else and you're either bad or against bots

New Runes Back to Top

Masteries Back to Top

Don't change anything here. This is all you will ever need and it works best 100% of the time in every matchup.

Warlord's Bloodlust isn't useful since Vayne isn't Draven. Thunderlords is for burst, and Vayne is more DPS oriented.

I have seen people use Storm Raiders in her Youmuu's build, however, (although she can use it,) it doesn't complement her kit in the same way that Fervor does.

The only time you would ever max Q is if you are going the Youmuu's build which overall only works in very specific scenarios that you will never find yourself in.

For those who are curious I will put the build below.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

Take these as you pretty much always need em.
Get this if you are stuck in a farm fest or can't afford anything else first back.

Core Items

Best first item as they are very gold efficient and provide excellant combat stats. They help you get in and out either for farm or trades.
Get this if you have enough first back, or if you would rather have the sustain instead.
Best first complete item other than boots.
Take this after you finish BotRK. Then build into whichever item you need. (Excluding Huricane)
Statik for push / AoE damage. Phantom for duals. Rapid for seiging.

Situational Items

Grab any of these as you see fit. Guinsoo's for a front line heavy team. Last whispers if they have uber tanks. IE for more damage.
    Survival items
For those who wanted to know the Youmuu's build. Get Dirk first in your build, then Youmuu's into PD, and then Infinity Edge. (NOT INCLUDING BOOTS)

VS

Ashe

Medium

Pretty ok for the first few levels. At 6 she can all in any champion if you don't have flash. If you do survive by using flash she'll probably kill you next time. Just ask for ganks and let her push onto you as she doesn't have escapes other than her weak early game slow. If you can stay ahead in levels you should be fine. Just avoid her late game if you don't have your team in front of you.

VS

Caitlyn

Hard

Probably one of the biggest cancer lanes for you. Even worse if she has a poke support like a Karma/Morg. Try not to die and let her push. Ask for ganks like the Salvation Army asks for donations outside a Macey's at Christmas. Just a note that you don't have to kill her. Just having your jungler scare her off so you can farm will be enough if you don't feed. Late game she becomes pretty easy for you to jump if you dodge her E.

VS

Corki

Medium

Pretty easy lane for Corki as he can destroy your HP. With a right support it isn't that bad for you. Farm under tower and go for kills if you have an item lead.

VS

Ezreal

Medium

Ehhhhh. Item leads are super important in this matchup. If he has a sheen and you still only have a Doran's you're fucked. If you have a Cutlass vs. his Tear you are in a pretty good spot. Overall it's a pretty even matchup.

VS

Graves

Easy

This is a joke lane for you. Bait him to walls if you have your E -> Flash combo up since that what he would go for. Stay behind minions if he tries to 2v2 you since he can't AA past units. Late game he can two shot you so watch out.

VS

Jhin

Medium

Not the easiest, but far from hard. Early game, play to not die. Try to keep minion wave as balanced as possible since he can have teammates dive easily. If all goes well, your ult is a lot stronger in 2v2's and 3v3's if junglers or mids show up. Later it becomes easier if you're ahead (which you should be since that is why you play Vayne). Just be uber careful with positioning.

VS

Jinx

Medium

Gross. Shes pretty much Cait with more damage and less mobility (If she doesn't have a kill). Same rules apply to her.

VS

Kalista

Easy

I honestly don't know... I haven't fought against a Kalista this season as Vayne (or vice-versa). If you find yourself in this scenario try to exploit Kalista's weak early game and have your jungler face-fuck her out of your lane. Let her push a little bit and just laugh at her since she can't use her passive without minions. (Hide in bushes a lot since Kalista can't hit targets if she loses sight)

VS

Kindred

Medium

Is this even a thing? I think it might be... Just play safe and ask for ganks if this wierd shit ever pops up.

VS

Kog'Maw

Medium

Hmmm. Since the Guinsoo's rework Kog fell off the radar super hard. He out ranges you so let him push a little. Ask for ganks and laugh at his immobile-ness.

VS

Lucian

Hard

The biggest one. Lucian just got nerfed so his play rate went down by a little. You can Q out of his Q if you're fast. And you can E him out of his R. Just watch out since he out damages you by a lot. If you manage to make it to mid game you start to go even until late when you just out-damage him flat out.

VS

Miss Fortune

Medium

Same thing as Lucian. More damage less mobility. Try to stay sideways to your minions so you don't get half HP'd by her Q on an executed minion.

VS

Quinn

Medium

No clue. She has a shit ton of damage but you can exploit her weakness' in the same way that you can with Kindred. Let me know how this goes.

VS

Sivir

Hard

Hell on earth. Her Q -> W combo makes your laning phase almost impossible. If you do try to fight her in a 2v2 her spellshield will block your condem if you have a soft CC support.

Try to push back if she spams her combo just so you can farm. If not try to get jungler ganks to exploit her lower pre-6 mobility.

VS

Tristana

Easy

You actually out damage her if you can engage first or if she is over aggresive with her W. Try to keep wave even and just go for kills if you gain any lead at all.

VS

Twitch

Medium

He's basically MF with escapes. Albiet he doesn't have wave clear so ward the fuck up and push that shit down his throat. Have your teammates know that you are gonna push a lot so they can be ready to assist you. His damage and kite potential make it hard to get up on him or escape if he engages first so watch out.

VS

Varus

Easy

Stay far away and dodge his shit, or stay close and face fuck him. It isn't hard for you to kill him.

Notes Back to Top

All of the matchups were based on early game/laning. Keep in mind that a good/bad support on either side can tip the scale 100%. Your support is 2/3rds of your laning phase. Make it to late game and Vayne is pretty much better than anyone as long as she doesn't get gimped.

While playing Vayne be sure that you are executing combos correctly.
Such as:
     AA cancel with your Q
If you do try to flash to stun someone on a wall, Flash after you cast E as it will cancel the animation and push your target away from where you flashed. EG: Walk along a wall and E->Flash on the opposite side to nail them onto the terrain.
Ult BEFORE your Q! The invisibility is why you use your Ult (usually) anyway.
Try to hit the same target...
AA-> Q -> E -> Flash is a decent combo if you need to kite someone into a wall.
