These are the only summoner spells you should ever use on Vi. Flash should be your only option for the 4.png+viq.png combo.

I prefer taking Precision primary over domination. The amount of attack speed you get helps out a lot and Press%20the%20Attack.png?width=32 just feels better than Electrocute.png?width=32 after early ganks. Take Triumph.png?width=32  and Coup%20De%20Grace.png?width=32 at the moment because they are overpowered. I prefer the attack speed from Legend%20Alacrity.png?width=32 more than tenacity and lifesteal. I take domination as my secondary tree secondary. Sudden%20Impact.png?width=32 is very good on Vi since she always initiates with viq.png so she will always be able to take advantage of Sudden%20Impact.png?width=32. I also like the healing from ability damage that Ravenous%20Hunter.png?width=32 gives you over the other runes.

The skill order that I use is pretty standard. Max viq.png first for the CDR and damage, then viw.png second because of the percent health damage and attack speed. 


Make sure to always start with viw.png because it is extremely helpful on your first camp. Please do not level viq.png before leveling viw.png and vie.png unless you used it to kill someone in a level 1 fight. Remember to NEVER level an ability until you start your first camp. You may need to level viq.png to escape or finish someone off at level 1.

I don't like to max vie.png second because it is only an auto attack reset and viw.png gives better stats. By maxing vie.png second you are increasing mana costs by 20 and only gain 80 damage from it. 6% Max health damage + 20% AS > 80 damage.

Starting Items

    This should be obvious
    You should build Stalkers Blade 90% of the time. The movement speed is nice since her base MS got nerfed recently. Only take redsmite if you are playing against someone like Kha'Zix and you need the damage reduction.

Core Items

    This should be your core build every game. I would take BC 2nd in 99% of my games. I would only take Maw 2nd if my team fed an APC.
    Boot Options. Depends on what you are against. Most games should be Tabi.
    Armor - I prefer to take Randuins over Dead Mans because of the attack speed slow, crit resistance and AOE slow. DMP may be better if you are very fed and just want to constantly jump on people.
    MR
    I will explain this below.
    Example final build for most situations. Warrior was sold for Death's Dance at the end.
    Use this build if you need to be more tanky. Warrior was sold for BotRK at the end.
    Dominating

Situational Items

    If I am going to sell warrior late game, I will usually sell it for this. I also build this if I am super fed and just want to dominate.
    I will explain why I don't like this in detail below.
    Don't cheese, you will never become a better player in the long run if you cheese. If you want to take one, take Duskblade.
    Very rarely should this be built. Explanation below.
    NEVER. If you build this item either A. You shouldn't have picked Vi or B. You have already lost the game.

I can not take full credit for this build. It is inspired off of XJ9's build. 

I prefer this build to the normal Trinity Force build because this one does more damage and is better for objective control, split pushing, and dueling.

I used to build 3153.png right after 1400.png 90% of the time and I still will if early game looks amazing and I am snowballing. I feel that with the changes, it is better to go 3071.png in most situations. The Precision tree gives you an insane amount of attack speed now and I feel like 3071.png does comparable damage, but along with health and CDR. The CDR is very helpful and the health is too with how much damage champions are doing now. I would still recommend building 3153.png but at a later stage in the game. 3153.png+3071.png will do an incredible amount of damage together. They burst squishes very well and shred through tanks. 

3078.png Why Not?

I honestly feel like this is the most overrated item on Vi. I feel like it does absolutely no damage on its own. It only feels alright if you have build 3153.png or 3147.png beforehand, but even then its an insanely expensive item and I feel like 3071.png just does the job better because of % armor penetration while costing over 700g less. This item also feels like it falls off late game and has a very hard time as a standalone damage item. I feel like this item does better on champions like 164.png39.png24.png120.png who make better use of sheen, take advantage of more stats, and already have incredible amounts of damage.

I see this item built on 254.png a lot and don't think it's that good. It only seems useful if you are very far ahead and want to make stupid plays while the enemy team is always on the retreat. Even then, why not build other items and just do more damage or become more tanky? Otherwise you will dive into the enemy team, wait out the passive, then just immediately get blown up again without even getting to do much. I prefer to take 3053.png over this item in almost all situations.

A lot of people will ask me "Can you go very tanky?" Vi is terrible as a take. She can't peel more than one target and doesn't do a tank's job as well as a dedicated tank champion. If you find yourself having to change your build to buy a bunch of tank items before finishing your damage, you have already lost the game. You might as well just finish the damage items and splitpush or hope to at least kill someone. Not just sit there and still die with slightly more tank stats. If you do this you better have a disgustingly fed ADC or other carry.

This is a pretty easy matchup because he really isn't that good at the moment. You will beat him in a 1v1. You probably beat him in a 1v1 if you start at 1/3 health and he's full.

Ward and watch out for invades because he can walk into you jungle, press a few buttons and instantly kill you. If he invades your best bet is to take 3715.png and run. He is also very hard to 1v1 throughout the game because of khazixr.png and the fact that you cannot outplay it anymore with 2055.png.

Easy

You easily destroy Kindred just watch out for her ult.

Lee Sin

Easy

These players are very cocky and think they can 1v1 anyone. Dumpster him. You can use vir.png to dodge blindmonkrkick.png if timed correctly.

This matchup is actually pretty easy unless your team has turned him into a mobile Baron. He does slightly more DPS, but your CC gives you the edge. Do not let him dodge vir.png or viq.png with alphastrike.png.

Just use vir.png when his nocturneunspeakablehorror.png is about to go off and you should be A-OK.

Hello, I'm MTown and I am a jungler who has learned the game from watching XJ9. I began consistently playing league of legends in the middle of season 4. Vi was the first champion that made me interested in the game and I have been playing her ever since. I have thousands of games on her and climbed to Diamond by playing her exclusively in Season 6. In this guide I will teach you the methods that I use to carry games with Vi.

Pros and Cons Back to Top

Pros:

  • Win 1v1 against almost any champion.
  • Strong ganks throughout the game.
  • Very good objective control and fast dragon clear.
  • Fast jungle clear and great sustain.
  • Very strong in 2v2 Skirmishes. 
  • Baron solo with Botrk + Deaths Dance
  • Outstanding flanks

Cons:

  • Completely useless before level 3 and is very vulnerable to invades.
  • Has a hard time being useful when behind.
  • Very reliant on flash or ult to pull off ganks.
  • Very predictable.

Ability Combos Back to Top

There are many different ability combos for Vi. 

  • 4.pngviQ.pngThis is Vi's best ability combo. It can cover HUGE distance and can surprise enemies giving them no time to react. This ability combo can also be combined with any of the combos mentioned below that begin with viQ.png.
  • viQ.png>AA>viE.png>AA>viE.pngThis is your most common ability combo that will ensure the most burst damage.
  • viR.pngviQ.png>AA>viE.png>AA>viE.pngThis is similar to the combo mentioned above, but with the obvious usage of Assault and Battery. This is not the preferred combo because you generally want to apply viW.png before using your ultimate for maximum damage. The reason why Q is used immediately after R is because it keeps the opponent CC'd and gives them less of a chance to do anything. This combo is ideal for starting a team fight.
  • viq.png4.png is an ability combo that most people don't know Vi can do. This combo is performed by using 4.png while you are in the middle of viq.png to reposition. This combo is very unreliable and 99% of the time you are better off using 4.pngviq.png.
Note that viE.png gives Vi bonus range so if you are closely chasing someone for that last hit, activate E for extra range.
Make sure to use 3706.png and 3153.png after using vir.png and viq.png to stick to them. Especially if they use 4.png.

Clear Paths & Early Backs Back to Top

Pathing

I have been messing around with a couple different clear paths this preseason, but have found the best to be buff>camp>buff starting botside for the better leash. After this, I usually look to gank either mid or top. If none of the lanes look gankable, I will take crab then re-evaluate. If there still aren't any good ganks, I will clear the rest of my jungle camps from north to south. 

Early Backs

I will only back once I am able to get at least two items. 1039.png should always be your first item after your starting items, even if you can only get one item. A lot of people like to go for one or even two 1036.png on their first back. I do not like this. Camps like raptors will beat you up too much and you will find yourself running out of mana without 1039.png. Lately I have been prioritizing my early items in this order: 1039.png>1036.png>1036.png>3706.png>3133.png.
Sometimes I am short 50g for the 2nd 1036.png and will go for 3706.png instead. 
I usually like to build 1001.png after 1400.png. I will build 1001.png before 1400.png if I have finished everything else, but don't have enough gold to finish the enchantment. The reason I like to finish 1400.png before buying 1001.png is because the amount of AD you get from finishing the enchantment is huge. 60 up from 25. 3706.png is usually enough to help you stick to people in early game.
