Summoner Spells Back to Top

Summoner Spells

red_line.png

4.png I recommend that you always go for Flash because it is an incredibly reliable Summoner Spell. Flash is essential for Vladamir because he has no other real tools to escape. You can use your Flash in a variety of ways and can be quite surprising at times. Thanks to his one shot capability and high damage output- you can surprise enemies with an all in.

6.png The next Summoner Spell I recommend that you take is Ghost. Ghost is the other Summoner Spell that I recommend taking. If you are not taking Unsealed Spellbook in your Rune page, then I would recommend going for Ghost as your secondary Summoner Spell. Ghost isn't as versatile compared to Flash, however, it is still a very good secondary Spell. I would always take this in conjunction with Flash- never on its own.

14.png If you do not want to take Ghost, you can take Ignite instead. Ignite will allow you to kill enemies and have more damage output and higher kill potential. If you have taken Unsealed Spellbook in your Rune Page, then I recommend that you take Ignite secondary at the start of the game.

12.png If you have no kill potential, and no death potential then you can take Teleport. Teleport will allow you to get around the map quickly and help your team out. Teleport is very reliable and a good Summoner Spell. You should keep an eye on the map at all times once your TP is up.

red_line.png

Summoner%20Specialist.png?width=32 Unsealed Spellbook Summoner%20Specialist.png?width=32

If you have taken Unsealed Spellbook in your Rune page, then I recommend that you take Flash and Ignite as your starting Summoner Spells. You should try to win lane and get ahead. After about 10-15 minutes, you can swap Ignite for Ghost.

Rune Breakdown

red_line.png

You have two main choices for Rune Pages on 8.png Vladimir. The first Rune Page I recommend is Domination with Electrocute.png?width=32 Electrocute, and the second Rune Page I recommend is Inspiration and Summoner%20Specialist.png?width=32Unsealed Spellbook. Each has its benefits and its drawbacks. Thanks to Vladimir being a very versatile champion, he can take either of the two Rune Pages.

red_line.png

For the first Rune Page, I recommend that you take Domination and Electrocute.png?width=32 Electrocute as the main keystone. This is because Electrocute.png?width=32 Electrocute is very easy to proc thanks to 8.png Vladamir's kit. You can proc Electrocute.png?width=32 Electrocute with your a simple vladimirq.png Q + AA + vladimire.png E combo. Additionally, Electrocute.png?width=32 Electrocute will give you a lot more damage in lane and will allow you to go for more consistent trades. Taking this in the later stages of the game will allow you to burst enemies down. Taste%20of%20Blood.png?width=32 Taste of Blood is the next Rune that you should take. This Rune is very good on 8.png Vladimir because it will allow you to stay healthier throughout the laning phase and the whole game. The next Rune I recommend that you take is Eyeball%20Collection.png?width=32 Eyeball Collection. Thanks to 8.png Vladimir's overall damage, and overall kill potential in lane and in team fights- it's possible that you can get Eyeball%20Collection.png?width=32 Eyeball Collection stacked. This will give you more damage in the game. For the final Rune, I recommend Ravenous%20Hunter.png?width=32 Ravenous hunter. Like Taste%20of%20Blood.png?width=32 Taste of Blood, this Rune will allow you to stay healthy throughout the game. Thanks to 8.png Vladimir's kit, you will be able to sustain very well and should have no trouble staying in lane for a long time.

For the second part of the first page, I recommend that you take Sorcery with Scorch.png?width=32 Scorch and Celerity.png?width=32 Celerity. These two Runes allow us to be incredibly strong and allow us to deal more damage throughout the game- especially early. Celerity.png?width=32 Celerity also scales incredibly well for the late game.

red_line.png

Like previously said, there are two viable Rune Pages on 8.png Vladimir. The second Rune page that I recommend is  Inspiration and taking Summoner%20Specialist.png?width=32 Unsealed Spellbook as the main keystone. This Keystone will allow you to change your Summoner Spells throughout the game. The next Rune that I recommend you take is Perfect%20Timing.png?width=32 Perfect Timing. This Rune will give you a Stopwatch that acts the same as a 3157.png Zhonya's Hourglass. This has a 1-time use but will save you gold in the long run if you purchase 3157.png Zhonya's. For the next Rune, I recommend that you take Magical%20Footwear.png?width=32 Magical Footwear. This Rune is very good on 8.png Vladimir because it gives you a free Biscuit%20Delivery.png?width=32cookies in the early game, and who wouldn't want that? The next and final Rune is Cosmic%20Insight.png?width=32 Cosmic Insight, this Rune is very good as it gives you a range of reductions that can help you in the early game.

For the secondary tree, I recommend that you take Sorcery with Scorch.png?width=32 Scorch and Celerity.png?width=32 Celerity. These two Runes allow us to be incredibly strong and allow us to deal more damage throughout the game- especially early. Celerity.png?width=32 Celerity also scales incredibly well for the late game.

Ability Description

red_line.png

Vladimir's Passive is Crimson Pact

8.png Vladimir gains bonus health when he builds AP. This Ability allows you to gain a huge amount of health throughout the game when you purchase an AP item. The bonuses from his vladimirpassive.png Passive do not stack with themselves.

v1.png

red_line.png

Vladimir's Q is Transfusion

8.png Vladimir drains health from the targetted enemy which deals damage to the enemy and 7.png heals 8.png Vladimir briefly. For each cast of vladimirq.png Transfusion, you will generate a stack of Bloodthirst which will be displayed in your resources bar (where the mana is.) At 2 stacks, 8.png Vladimir gains Crimson Rush for 2.5 seconds and gains bonus movement speed.

Crimson Rush: vladimirq.png Transfusion deals increased damage and 7.png heals him for an additional amount.

v2.png

Tips and Tricks:

Your vladimirq.png Q gives you lots of sustain throughout the game. When you are low on health you should try to use your vladimirq.png Q on the enemy champions and minions. If you get an empowered vladimirq.png Q, you should use it on the enemy. It will give you increased damage on the enemy champion, as well as 7.png heal you for more compared to your usual vladimirq.png Q.

red_line.png

Vladimir's W is Sanguine Pool

8.png Vladimir sinks into a pool of blood and briefly gains bonus movement speed. Whilst in his pool, he becomes untargetable and intangible for 2 seconds. Enemies who stand in the pool are slowed and dealt damage. He will then 7.png heals himself for any damage dealt while in his pool.

v3.png

Tips and Tricks

Your vladimirsanguinepool.png W makes you unforgettable, this means that you will not be able to be focused whilst in your pool. This ability can truly save your life thanks to this. However, beware of the health cost that this ability costs you, in some cases- it may not be worth using this ability unless you have too. I would avoid using your vladimirsanguinepool.png W unless you're going lethal- as the trade will go in the enemies favour. You can also charge your vladimire.png E whilst you're in your vladimirsanguinepool.png W, however, you need to use your vladimire.png E before going into vladimirsanguinepool.png W.

I would only recommend using your vladimirsanguinepool.png W to dodge lethal skill shots or avoid CC.

red_line.png

Vladimir's E is Tides of Blood

8.png Vladimir charges his vladimire.png E up to 1.5 seconds which can be cancelled early. He becomes slow for a brief period as well. If 8.png Vladimir finishes charging his vladimire.png E or is Interrupted by CC, he will automatically initiate the second part of his vladimire.png E.

Second Cast: When 8.png Vladimir has fully stacked his vladimire.png E, he will gain an enhanced ability that unleashes a rain of blood bolts in an AOE blood circle around him dealing damage to enemies that they collide with. The longer the cast, the more damage is dealt.

If 8.png Vladimir's vladimire.png E was charged for at least 1 second, enemies affected by your ability are also slowed briefly.

Enemies that are hit by your vladimire.png E can only be damaged once compared to minions that can absorb up to 5 blood bolts.

v4.png

Tips and Tricks:

Yourvladimire.png  E can be cast whilst you're in your vladimirsanguinepool.png W pool. You want to use and hold down vladimire.png E, press vladimirsanguinepool.png W and move towards the enemy whilst your vladimire.png E is still held down. This will deal damage to the enemies and make you untargetable. You have to be smart when using your vladimire.png E, it is easy to dodge thanks to the range and the fact you are slowed whilst charging. It can be tricky to hit when you're in a minion wave- so keep that in mind when using it.

red_line.png

Vladimir's Ultimate is Hemoplague

8.png Vladimir throws a plague pit down in a target location which increases any further damage from all resources by 10% for 4 seconds. Each enemy affected by vladimirhemoplague.png Hemoplague is dealt damage. 8.png Vladimir is also healed per champion that is affected by vladimirhemoplague.png Hemoplague- which is reduced by 50% after the first enemy hit.

v5.png

Tips and Tricks

Your vladimirhemoplague.png Ultimate is incredibly strong thanks to the bonus damage. If you are going for lethal trades you may want to use your vladimirhemoplague.png Ultimate at the start of the trade. This will enhance the rest of your damage and also 7.png heal you once finished. An example 8.png Vladimir combo after 6 would be vladimirhemoplague.png Ultimate > vladimirq.png Q > vladimire.png E (CHARGE) and then vladimirsanguinepool.png W. Before going for any full trades, you must first poke the enemy down.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

Take this in most matchups. Benefits you greatly.
Take this only if you're in a poor matchup.

Core Items

Would recommend Hextech Protobelt as your first core item. This item is really strong on Vladimir and gives you a range of stats that will eventually allow you to one shot the enemy. It can also be used in conjunction with your W.
Your next item is going to be Liandry's Torment. You will want to get this next and is your core item on Vladimir. This item is great as it will give you offensive and defensive stats. You will also get some magic penetration that Vladimir loves.
Thanks to Magical Footware, this item will be cheaper (Assuming you went for Inspiration.) You want to get Magic penertration boots either 2nd or 3rd. Vladimir needs as much magic penetration as possible to win the game. So Pick up Sorcerer's Shoes.
For your fourth item you want to get Zhonya's Hourglass. This item is great on Vladimir thanks to the item active that it gives you. You can use your Zhonya's in a varity of ways. This item will cost slightly less if you took Inspiration as your main Rune Tree.
Void staff is your next item. Like stated throughout this guide, Vladimir needs magic penertration items. Void Staff is needed to deal increased damage to enemies. Void staff will buff your ability damage, and also allow you to cut through the more tankier of players.
As you are going to be the AP carry. Vladimir's final item is going to be Rabadon's Deathcap. This item will grant you enhanced damage and provide you with a huge improvement in ability power damage. This item is a must-have item on Vladimir.

Situational Items

Spirit Visage is a very good item on Vladimir. If you are not comfortable on him, then you could pick this item up early. It will also enhance your healing ability.
If you're against a heavy AD Team, these items are good on Vladimir.
If you're against a heavy AP Team, these items are good on Vladimir.

Itemization

red_line.png

I would recommend that you always start 1054.png Doran's Shield on 8.png Vladimir. This item is beneficial thanks to the item passive and your kit. It is also good against AD Champions. The item is very good on him and it will allow 8.png Vladimir to sustain and survive the early game and laning phase. Your first major item purchase is going to be 3152.png Hextech Protobelt. This item is good and will allow you to one shot people during the laning phase. It is a very good item and can aid you in trades. For example, you can use your 3152.png Protobelt whilst in your vladimirsanguinepool.png W. This will allow you to catch up to the enemy whilst in your vladimirsanguinepool.png W- especially as you're rather slow. You can also use 3152.pngProtobelt in conjunction with your other abilities to clear waves. 3152.png Protobelt is a great first item on 8.png Vladimir because it will allow you to get in and get out of trades and fights with ease. Your second item is going to be 3151.png Liandry's Torment. This item is very good on 8.png Vladimir because it gives you Magic penetration- which is something that 8.png Vladimir desperately needs- especially early. By this time, you should also have Magical%20Footwear.png?width=32 Magical Footwear stacked and received. I would recommend picking up 3020.png Magic Penetration Boots whilst upgrading to 3151.png Liandry's. For your fourth item, I would recommend that you get 3157.png Zhonya's Hourglass. Thanks to Perfect%20Timing.png?width=32 Stopwatch, it will be slightly cheaper. It is still a very cost effective item that will allow you to be a real threat in team fights in the late game.

red_line.png

Because 8.png Vladimir loves magic penetration, you want to get as much of it as possible. As 8.png Vladimir is an ap carry, you will need to buy 3135.png Void Staff. This item will allow your abilities to deal more damage thanks to the penetration stats that this item provides you. If you didn't have this item, then you will deal less damage in trades because you will not be able to penetrate the enemies defences. For your final item, I recommend that you pick up a 3089.png Rabadon's Deathcap. This item will give you a range of bonuses that will allow you to one shot the enemy champions. Thanks to your previous magic penetration items, 3089.png Rabadon's will have no trouble dealing tons of damage to the enemy.

VS

Ahri

Easy

Dodge her E with your W. Try your best to poke her whenever you can. You just need to sustain and avoid her poke. You can trade with her once she wastes her E or her Q.

VS

Akali

Medium

Akali is a medium matchup because her post 6 is strong. In the early game you want to zone her as much as possible and poke her. You should also deny her CS by poking her with your abilities and auto attacks. After level 6 she can kill you, so try your best to avoid being caught out of position and around minions when she has 3 stacks of Shadow Dance.

VS

Azir

Medium

Zone him level 1 with your Q by walking around his soldiers and poking him, beware of the minion agro tho. In the very early game, he has no control over switching positons of the soldier. So trading early is important. You should be able to easily kill him around level 6 with your ultiamte. You can also use your W to avoid his Ult.

VS

Cassiopeia

Medium

Do not go for trades early unless you have your Q ready. Do not go for early all-ins and only go for trades when she you have Q. Cassiopia requires alot of mana, so try to poke her when she is low. You want to farm up, avoid trading and avoid her abilities.

VS

Cho'Gath

Hard

annoying matchup. Try your best to dodge his CC and poke him when he comes to farm- also dodge his E on his auto attacks.

VS

Diana

Easy

This is a good matchup as you have the range advantage. She is also useless until level 6. So poke her when she has no W. You have to dodge her Q so she doesn't get the Ultimate reset.

VS

Ekko

Easy

Easy matchup. Poke him early and zone him. Try to dodge his Q. Beware of his roams and his ultimate. You should win this lane no trouble.

VS

Fizz

Easy

Easy matchup for you as you have the range advantage. You can dodge his ultiamte with your W.

VS

Galio

Easy

This is a good matchup as you have the range advantage. Galio mid is pretty useless if behind, so ask for early ganks and poke him whenever you can. Beware of the range of his ultimate. Tell your team when he is 6.

VS

Karma

Medium

Karma is not hard to play against because neither of you can really kill each other. However, it is more frustrating than anything. Beware of her shield and her roam potentual. If she has wasted her ultimate or her W, then you should use your poke on her during this cooldown period.

VS

Katarina

Easy

This is a good matchup as you have the range advantage. Dodge her daggers and avoid her ultimate with your W. Try to poke her and deny her farm. Beware of the roam potentual.

VS

LeBlanc

Easy

You should play aggressive early and use your Q to poke er when she is in lane. You should use your empowered Q on her as often as possible. As long as you do not die, you should be fine in this lane and outscale her. Beware of her E, use your W if you see it coming your way.

VS

Lux

Easy

Great matchup for you. Avoid her poke and heal up through the minions. You win this after 6. Dodge her ult or her binding (Q) with your W. You should win this lane quite easily.

VS

Malzahar

Medium

Try your best to avoid his silence. Keep the sides warded. If he seems to be walking up to you (after 6) for no reason, it's probably because his jungler is nearby. Avoid this matchup if you can as it is stressful and annoying to play.

VS

Orianna

Medium

This is a skill based matchup and will most likely be a farm lane. You have the sustain advantage, where as she has the ranged advantage. Try to get a farm lead and dodge her ultimate with your W.

VS

Syndra

Medium

Don't let her use her ultimate on you. So dodge it with your W. Also, avoid her E at all costs.

VS

Veigar

Hard

Annoying matchup. He will sustain and poke from afar- so try to poke him when you can. Post 6 you can kill him, but beware it will be tricky. You need to sustain and farm up, and poke him if he greeds. Avoid his cage and his Ultimate.

VS

Vel'Koz

Medium

The early game is rough for you against velkoz thanks to his poke and ability to escape you. After you have an item or two, you should be able to one shot him no problem. At level 6, avoid his knockup and ultimate with your W. You should poke with q when possible and dodge his abilities by hiding inbetween the minions.

VS

Viktor

Medium

Viktor is a medium matchup because he has the poke and the wave push. You should avoid all his poke, and poke him once he wastes his E on pushing the wave. Try your best to kill him early- even though it will be hard. Post 6 you can kill him quite easily with your Ultimate. I suggest not going for full trades until he wastes his Q (for the shield) and you are 6.

VS

Zed

Easy

He wins pre-6 but you beat him post 6. Avoid his early game combo, and poke him when he comes to farm

Tips and Tricks Back to Top

Tips and Tricks

red_line.png

  1. You can use your 3152.png Protobelt in conjunction with your vladimirsanguinepool.png W.
  2. You want to hit as many champions with your vladimirhemoplague.png Ultimate as possible. This will enhance the rest of your damage.
  3. doreducedIf you have an empowered ability, you want to use it on the enemy champion rather than minions. This is because it will do more damage.
  4. You can dodge hard CC abilities or lethal abilities with your vladimirsanguinepool.png W.
  5. Whilst in your vladimirsanguinepool.png W, you can dodge tower shots. This means you can be the main tower diver. This also means that you can tower dive after level 6.
  6. You can use your vladimirsanguinepool.png W during your vladimire.png E.
  7. Your main focus in team fights should be the enemy carries. But beware, with your low mobility they can easily kill you.
  8. 8.png Vladimir is really good in team fights. So try to roam and help your other laners out.
  9. You can dodge abilities with your vladimirsanguinepool.png W.
red_line.png

Combos Back to Top

Combos

red_line.png

8.png Vladimir's kit is quite basic on paper, however, he does have a range of combos and combinations that will allow you to win trades and ultimately, win game! You should try to poke frequinetly with your vladimirq.png Q and your vladimire.png E throughout the laning phase, so remember to poke before going for a full lethal trade. You should also watch the map and your cooldowns before going for trades.

red_line.png

vladimirhemoplague.png R + vladimirq.png Q + vladimire.png E (CHARGED) + vladimirsanguinepool.png W

This is a full trade. You want to start with an vladimirhemoplague.png Ultimate, then use your vladimirq.pngQ on the enemy, and press vladimire.png E. You want to start charging it and then use your vladimirsanguinepool.png Pool and run under the enemy champion.

vladimirhemoplague.png R + vladimire.png E (CHARGED) + vladimirsanguinepool.png W + vladimirq.png Q

This is another full trade example. You want to start with using your vladimirhemoplague.png Ultimate and then use your charged/empowered vladimire.png E on the enemy, you then want to vladimirsanguinepool.png pool and run underneath the enemy champion. Finally, use your vladimirq.png Q to deal the final damage and heal.

vladimirq.png Q + vladimire.png E (CHARGED) + vladimirsanguinepool.png W

This is a lane combo. Start with your vladimirq.png Q on the enemy champion and then charge your vladimire.png E whilst in your vladimirsanguinepool.png pool and go under the enemy champion.

vladimirq.png Q + vladimire.png E (CHARGED)

vladimirq.png Q the enemy champion and then use your empowered vladimire.png E on them.

red_line.png

Early Game Back to Top

Early Game

red_line.png

The early game for 8.png Vladimir is by far his weakest. You want to chill during the laning phase and just farm up. You need items and will not be able to kill the enemy until you've got your 3152.png Protobelt. Once this item is complete- then you should be able to kill the enemy. You should try to poke the enemy whenever you can- using your vladimirq.png Q and your vladimire.png E to poke and avoiding using your vladimirsanguinepool.png W at all costs. In some matchups, you will be able to poke and trade quite often, for example against a 99.png Lux or a 105.png Fizz. However you should not get to cocky because the tables may turn and you may find yourself on the recieving end of a trade if you're low. Throughout the game and the laning phase, you want to farm with your auto attacks and poke the enemy with your vladimirq.png Q whilst 7.png healing yourself.

If you are against an enemy champion who is AD and lot's of kill potentual, then you could pick up an early 3191.png Armguard. Thanks to 8.png Vladimir's kit, you could pick up a 3065.png Spirit Visage if you're against a heavy poke AP champion such as 50.png Swain or 17.png Teemo.

Thanks to your vladimirsanguinepool.png W, you can tower dive enemies freely and escape tower agro with it. You have to be careful however, as the enemy Jungler may come and kill you. So watch the map before tower diving at all and do not dive if you're low with no vladimirhemoplague.png Ultimate. Remember to poke before going for lethal trades.

red_line.png

Mid Game Back to Top

Mid Game

red_line.png

The Mid Game for 8.png Vladimir is where he really shines. Your kit and your vladimirhemoplague.png Ultimate will be scaling quite well into this part of the game. You should no trouble finding chances where you can roam and gank other lanes and help them out. If you're ahead, I would recommend that you keep pushing your advantage and go to trade whenever you can. You want to force enemies to stop your push, or at least- stop you from killing their allies. Make sure to keep areas warded with your trinket and 2055.png Control ward.

Thanks to your kit, you can easily escape 1v2 situations and sustain and survive through any trades. You should use your vladimirq.png Q to 7.png Heal if you're losing health fast. Remember to not use your vladimirsanguinepool.png W unless you have to as the cost is huge.

If you have won lane, but your other lanes are not doing so hot. You can try to roam down to their lane and help them. You should have no trouble diving and helping them. Remember to tank first and then drop agro with your vladimirsanguinepool.png W.

8.png Vladimir's mid game is all about applying pressure to the enemy. Make sure to be consistent and be a nuisance to the enemy.

red_line.png

Late Game Back to Top

Late Game

red_line.png

By the late game, 8.png Vladimir should be almost full build and be ready to kill the enemy backline. Your main focus should be to flank and catch enemies off guard. You want to use your vladimirhemoplague.png Ultimate first and then go in with your combo. Remember to hit as many enemies with your vladimirhemoplague.png Ultimate because of the advanced damage that it provides to your other abilities. If you have a Toplaner or a Support that can hard engage, such as 12.png Alistar or 54.png Malphite then you should follow them in. I would recommend trying your best to flank the enemy rather than going straight in. Try to make any engagement a surprise and catch the enemy off guard. If you cannot fight 5v5, then I suggest splitpushing and grouping when your team needs you. Try your best to focus the carries and win the team fights!

red_line.png

Pros and Cons Back to Top

Pros and Cons

red_line.png

Like all champions in League, each has their pros and cons. 8.png Vladimir is no exception to this rule and it can be sometimes hard to perform well on him.

Pros:

  • Great Sustain.
  • Really strong with current Rune system.
  • Great escape capability thanks to his vladimirsanguinepool.png W.
  • Really strong vladimirhemoplague.png Ultimate.
  • Doesn't have to worry to much about resoureces- except health.
  • Is extremely good in team fights and flanking enemies.
  • Is really strong even when behind

Cons:

  • Early game is boring and hard in most cases.
  • No real mobility.
  • Has no hard CC.
  • High cooldown's and his vladimirsanguinepool.png W costs alot of health.
red_line.png

Team Fighting Back to Top

Team Fighting

red_line.png

You have two major options on 8.png Vladimir during team fights. Each has it's benefits and it's drawbacks. The more you play 8.png Vladimir, the more you will realise and understand which type of team fight you want to go for.

The first major option is to flank and I recommend that you do this one the majority of the time. Flanking is incredibly important because it will allow you to suprise the enemy and catch them off guard. This is important on 8.png Vladimir because he is a rather slow hero and can be kited quite easily. Another reason why you want to flank rather than streight fight 5v5 is because of your kit and your vladimirhemoplague.png Ultimate. If you suprise the enemy whilst they are all bundled up, then you can get your vladimirhemoplague.png Ultimate on multiple champions instead of just one. This AOE damage will allow you to do increased damage, and also allow your team to follow up.

In this example clip, we can see how good it is to flank enemy champions. If you mix this in with follow up from your team, then you can get more than just one kill.

Clip provided by FullMetallPanic | Twitter

The second option is to streight fight 5v5. Most team fights are not just simple 5v5 fights, however 8.png Vladimir excells in these types of fits thanks to his vladimirsanguinepool.png W and his vladimirhemoplague.png Ultimate. You can get into the backline with your vladimirsanguinepool.png W and follow it up with your other damaging abilities. In team fights like this, your main goal is to go into the enemy backline and use your vladimirhemoplague.png Ultimate on as many of the carries as possible. You should use your vladimirsanguinepool.png W to stop any hard cc or knockbacks aswell as protecting yourself against their damage.

In this example, we can see that 8.png Vladimir is baiting the enemy and his team can follow up. He uses his vladimirhemoplague.png Ultimate on the damage threat and his team follows up with more damage. They get the kills thanks to this "bait" team fight.
