Items Back to Top

Starting Items

    Core Start
if you like spamming your abilities for faster clear
it works out because of ww's high sustain but its still risky, just do it if you know you will need the bonus vision --> e.g. anti-counterjungle
    1st back (800+ g)
    2nd back (450+g)
start with a ward to be safe against counter jungle, swap to sweeper at your 2nd back

Core Items

pref mercury's because ww has no gap-closer (exept his ult) --> easy to kite
very strong item on ww, good stats, passive procs with his ult
this item is made for ww, armor, mana and cdr
even more dmg, good stats for ww, strong passive which procs with ult
best item against heavy AP, health, MR, health regen and passive multiplies all healing effects
My standard full build, works against almost every team composition (build order: Skirmisher->mercury's->wit's end->frozen heart->botrk-> spirit visage)
Buy wards! stop crying about why the support can't just buy wards, he can only by a maximum of 4 wards (3 stealth and 1 pink) and this is not enough. Especially as ww it's important to buy ward for your laners, because you can't really help them pre-six
somehow every elixir is viable, but elixir of iron fits best to my play style

Situational Items

ap-oneshot build? it's fun and works surprisingly good, however you are very squishy
[sorcerer's] for more damage on your Q and R, [mobility boots] if you need the bonus move speed, [nina tabi] if the enemy team has no magic damage and no kind of cc
if your team needs a real tank, you can also go with a build like this
if the enemy team has just ad, this build will be way to go
in case the enemy team has 3-4 high dmg ap champs
ad-assassin, insane dmg and sustain, rush objectives like towers or barons without problems (in honor: much)
getting focused by a ton of cc? help yourself with this item

Jax

Hard

Jax is considered to be one of the best late-game duelists and split pushers, due to his high sustained damage and his good defensive stats. Usually I would not recommend fighting neither Jax nor WW 1v1 in late-game. That's why this matchup is very interesting.

His ability "Counter Strike" punishes melee auto attackers because he dodges all auto attacks for 2 seconds, so avoid hitting him until he activates his E the second time, which causes an AOE stun. If Jax manages to use his E when you are about to ult him, it will block all of the damage and stun you right afterwards. When his "counter Strike" goes on cooldown, you can win long trades, even though he has very high AD and AP ratios on his single-target abilities, due to your passive and the huge heal from your Q. When both of you get low, ult him to prevent yourself from dying and finish him off.

Lee Sin

Medium

Don't even think about fighting a Lee Sin 1v1 early game. Lee Sin is notorious for his early game presence. Even though he falls of heavily and WW scales very well, he does surprising damage and his tempest/cripple gives him a big advantage, you should be able to kill him easy late game.

Don't ult a carry standing right next to Lee Sin, because he will kick you out in order to disrupt your R.

VS

Master Yi

Easy

He can't fight you because you outsustain and outdamage (90% attack speed from your W at level 5) him, even though you will build some tank items.

Prevent him from snowballing by counter-ganking him. During team fights, if the Master  Yi is shredding your teammates, after he alpha-strikes, you can ult him and your team can blow him up.

VS

Shaco

Medium

Be aware that he can invade your jungle to steal one of your buffs. The common Shaco-first-blood-play at your second camp after the buff is no big danger, since WW is not a champ who get's really low in the jungle. Keep encouraging your team to play safe and then assure them, that you can carry the game post-6.

You can reveal him by smelling him with your E when he's stealthed (and below 50% health). Also, if he doesn't instaburst you, you can easily duel him unless he's going for 3 life steal items.
