Summoner Spells Back to Top

My wukong is completely based on early game lane dominance and late game assasin wiping out the carries. And I believe that these 2 summoner spells compliment you perfectly.

4.pngSelf explanatory. Gives you the necessary escape skill early game and the deadly engage potential.
14.pngA MUST in many lane matchups such as 8_64.png23_64.png83_64.png etc. Works great for lane dominance.
12.pngRun this when you feel you wont be able to win your lane/get countered. This will help you make the plays.

In 99% of the cases, you should be maxing E. It is a good wave clear, gives you a attack speed steroid and deals considerable amounts of damage.
I only use Q for the armor reduction debuff. The armor reduction does not scale and thus I do not like giving it preference over my E.
W because jukong wukes thats why.
R because you are a spinning mfern monkey who spins between 5 people tossing them into the air disabling them for some time and killing everything.

When to max Q?
Max Q against champs you cant afford to go all in like darius/riven. Since riot has buffed Q with range you can poke very effectively from a decent range. This way you deal damage without taking a lot yourself.

Against melee - Start Q max E
Against Range - Start E max E

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

For the ad heavy lanes that make me cry. This setup usually means I'm going to be extremely defensive and thus I don't have a ward here. I run this when I know I cant win a trade and can only rely on my jungler to gank. This setup will help you stay in lane as long as possible thus making life easy for your jungler.
For the easy matchups where I know I wont lose. P.S : Please dont run this if you are new to wukong. Once you get confident enough about your potential to deal retarded amounts of damage and know that you can escape any kind of ganks, use this. Otherwise, go for the flask/ward/pot.
A very safe start. You dont need a ward anymore due to the addition of the trinkets.

Core Items

Make these items now. Have faith in me. Change GA for bloodthirster when on cd.

Situational Items

If the GA is on cooldown note down the time, sell ga and buy warmogs. Lets all be honest here, nobody buys GA because of the stats. We all want that revive. If its on cooldown, there is no real sense keeping it. Buy it back when its off cooldown.
PLEASE only make these defensive items if you have failed your lane miserably. Wukong isn't a tank. He wasn't meant to be one.
Instead of trinity if aps are being an issue.
Make this instead of a trinity if snowballing extremely hard.

The 'Core' build I have included here is very weird and may not seem like the best option to you. But I have tried and tested it and there isn't a better build. Trust me.

This build is based on dishing out tonnes of damage with your ult and then fight mano e mano with everything. Normally once your ultimate is over, the damage you deal in comparison with your ult is not the best ( Late Game ). But with this build, you can literally 1v3 people. This build also helps you push/wave clear extremely fast.

First back : I used to get 2 dorans or a brutalizer on my first return to base back in the day. But now I find rushing a ravenous hydra is much better. So get a 1053_32.png on your first back and the regular wards and shit. Rush a hydra as soon as possible after this and your wave clear should be easy as fuck. By the time you have completed hydra (ideally) you should have taken down his turret. Your next item should be 3035_32.png. With these 2 items in your build, you can pretty much derp around the mid lane and one shot ap carries/ad assasin carries.

I know most of you will doubt this build BUT play a few normal's try this build and then let me know how it goes. Dont start criticizing my stuff before even trying it out.

VS

Aatrox

Easy

Extremely easy. Rush a 3123_32.png and watch him cry in lane

VS

Akali

Easy

This lane is easy as hell. Akali lacks damage pre 6 and you are extremely strong pre 6. Go full aggressive in this lane. There is no way you can lose this lane. Incase you are having trouble in this lane due to opponent jungler pressure, go for a hexdrinker. You never want a snowballing akali.

Suggested start : Long sword + 2 pots

VS

Cho'Gath

Medium

For me personally this lane has gone both ways. But early game you definitely should have an advantage due to chos mana issues. I go for a longsword 2 pots start in this matchup. Get the advantage early game or you will face great troubles.

Suggested Start : Longsword + 2 pots

VS

Darius

Hard

Do not pick wukong if they have a darius. You go in, he uses Q does a few auto on you with W and as you try to get out he pulls you in with his E. An extremely difficult matchup for wukong. One of the few top laners that have made me cry.

A good darius will always beat a good wukong.
TL;DR
Do not pick wukong if they have a darius top.

Incase he you picked before him, level up Q before your E and poke without trying to take damage. A 1v1 trade will always have disastrous effects on a wukong. Also get your jungler to help out as much as possible. It isnt easy to stop a snowballing wukong.

Suggested Start : Flask + ward + 1 pot or Flask + 3 pots

VS

Diana

Medium
Dodge those Q's
Try not getting baited by her shields. Post 6 destroy her combo by timing decoy with her ultimate.
A tricky lane but usually in wukongs favor.

Suggested Start : Flask + 1 ward + 1 pot OR Flask + 3 wards

VS

Dr. Mundo

Easy

Rush 3123_32.png and this lane becomes extremely easy for you. After late game hits its always going to be difficult to kill a mundo with 2 billion hp, 3 billion hp regen and 200 trillion dps. Early game shut down is the key to winning this lane.

VS

Elise

Easy

Extremely easy lane. Shes squishy and you have a burst. If she misses a cocoon, do not be afraid of going balls deep.

Tips and tricks : When you see her casting cocoon, turn back momentarily and use your decoy. Remember decoy always spawns behind you. This should give you an open hand to use your combo.

Suggested start : Long sword + 2 pots

VS

Fiora

Easy

Generally an easy lane but can be a bit tricky. Dont eat damage by using your Q on her parry. Save your decoy for her ult. Dont be afraid of going all in since you should always be able to win trades as long as you dont eat free damage from her W.

Suggested Start : Flask + ward + 1 pot or Flask + 3 pots

VS

Gangplank

Easy

Easy lane. Start with a longsword and 2 pots. Your early and mid game is way stronger than his. You should have no difficulty winning this lane.

Suggested start : Long sword + 2 pots

VS

Garen

Medium

I hate this match up and I hate this champion in general. Don't let him use his passive, ever. Time your decoy with his Q. Early game is slightly in wukongs favor so take advantage. If hes stacking armor, start roaming and make plays. There is no point in fighting a armor stacking garen as wukong.

Suggested Start : Flask + ward + 1 pot or Flask + 3 pots

VS

Irelia

Hard

Difficult lane in general. Her sustain is crazy and so is her true damage. You will have to ask for help from your jungler. If you cant snowball your lane early on, she will run over you. Please nerf her riot. Thanks.

Suggested Start : Flask + ward + 1 pot or Flask + 3 pots

VS

Jarvan IV

Medium

Both of you are early game beasts. There is a difference though. His skills can be dodged, yours cant. Wait on using your ult until he uses cataclysm. Or if you are low on health, try E'ing out to the minions. This is a very easy lane if you dodge the QE combo. He can make you cry if you dont.

Suggested Start : Flask + ward + 1 pot or Flask + 3 pots

VS

Jax

Medium

A 1v1 trade will always result in a loss after 6. Why? Because one does not simply stand and fight a jax unless you're fed. Use your W and avoid his stun. Before 6 is where you get the advantage or you're done. We all know what a snowballing jax does. But then again, we all know what a snowballing wukong does too.

Suggested Start : Flask + ward + 1 pot or Flask + 3 pots

VS

Jayce

Easy

Go all in when hes in ranged form. Dont get poked by his balls of doom and you will be fine in this lane.

Tips and tricks : Try and stay in front of him when you attack so that you dont fall behind when he uses his E.

Suggested Start : Flask + ward + 1 pot or Flask + 3 pots

VS

Kayle

Easy

Kalyes squishy as fuck so start with a longsword. Stay the fuck back when she has her E activated. You do not want to take free damage from her E. Go all in as soon as you see her E go on cooldown. Typically a kayle will Q you and then start auto attacking with E. Just run back when this happens or stall with W. Once you go all in there isnt much a kayle can do early on during the game. Even with her ult up you should be able to win a trade.

Suggested start : Long sword + 2 pots

VS

Kennen

Medium

Kennen against a melee is never an easy lane. He can poke the shit out of you but if you can dodge the shurikens, E Q in and punish him instantly. He will probably use his E but your one EQ combo should take a major chunk of his health. Probably ask your jungler for a level 3 gank. Most kennens wont take E at level 3 and you are at your prime at that level.

Suggested Start : Flask + ward + 1 pot or Flask + 3 pots

VS

Kha'Zix

Medium

He's squishy but has a very high burst damage. Try to never get to a point where he can just E in and kill you. Dont get poked by his poke. OR play a high risk high reward game against this guy. Punish him whenever you see him around.

Suggested Start : Flask + ward + 1 pot or Flask + 3 pots

VS

Lee Sin

Medium

Apparently lee sin counters wukong. He really dosent. I cant tell you how many times I have been "counter picked" in ranked games by a lee sin and I have always completely destroyed this lane.

But this lane can be challenging if you are facing a good lee sin. A good lee sin will max his W in this lane first. If he maxes his W, you are fucked. If he doesn't, show him who's the big daddy around summoners rift. His E reduces your attack speed? Big deal. Wukong doesn't need attack speed to win a trade. While running away from him, you can negate his Q by using your decoy.

Suggested start : Long sword + 2 pots

VS

Malphite

Medium

Not as difficult as one might think. Early game malphite has mana issues. Keep punishing him with your EQ combo. Don't let him get his passive up, if he does have his passive up use a few auto-attacks before you go in and do a complete combo. Unless hes stacking armor, getting 24/7 help from his jungler and you are completely retarded, there is no way he should be killing you in lane.
Both of you have similar jobs in teamfights i.e. going into the backline and disrupting the carries. There is a small difference though, you can kill their carries and he cant unless he is one of those hipsters playing ap malphite. All he can do is peel/zone others. Thats it. You can do the same only better.
There will always be a point in the game where you wont be able to kill him. Might want to get as many kills as possible before that.

VS

Master Yi

Easy

Very easy lane. AP or AD Yi, eitherways you shouldn't face a problem. Hes naturally squishy and you are naturally a bursty bruiser. When you see him use W, just go back like a nice guy and come back when its over. This lane should NOT be lost.

Suggested start : Long sword + 2 pots

VS

Mordekaiser

Easy

Wukong is a beast early game. Mordekaiser is weak as shit early game. I rest my case.

Suggested start : Long sword + 2 pots

VS

Nasus

Medium

Punish him when he comes around to use Q. Wait for him to use it on the minion first to avoid unnecessary damage. Early game you need to take advantage because after 6 he can kill you very easily. Ask for your junglers help. Should be a easy lane but can go either way due to the smallest mistake.

Suggested Start : Flask + ward + 1 pot or Flask + 3 pots

VS

Nidalee

Medium

AP or AD this lane is generally easy for wukong pre-6. After 6 it becomes extremely difficult with her pussy form active. Win this lane before 6 or you will have slight troubles. Oh and don't step on those traps while invisible please. Thanks

VS

Olaf

Medium

Can win early game in lane very easily. Try using W to bait his E out and then go in and punish him. A good olaf will stack armor in this lane and you definitely want to win this lane before that happens. That being said, we all know what state olaf is in right now.

You will always shine in teamfights though when compared to olaf.

Personally, I have never lost against a olaf as wukong. Not until about level 11 where he starts stacking armor.

Suggested Start : Flask + ward + 1 pot or Flask + 3 pots

VS

Pantheon

Medium

Has always proven to be a difficult lane for me. A good pantheon will beat a good wukong. Don't underestimate how much damage his Q does. Don't waste your Q damage on his shield or you sir are done. Use AA+Q+E or E+AA+Q to make his shield useless.

Suggested Start : Flask + ward + 1 pot or Flask + 3 pots or Armor + 5 pots

VS

Renekton

Hard

This matchup is somewhat like darius. If he stacks armor, you're fucked. You go in, he stuns you and Qs you. You may have to level up Q in this matchup. Ask for assistance from the jungler. Best way to try and win this lane is to stay back till he uses his Q. From experience I can say that whenever I have stayed back long enough the guy will use his Q on minions. When you see him do this, instantly go in and punish him. After 6 this proves to be a very difficult matchup. Try to capitalize on the renektons mistakes instead of making your own plays.

Suggested Start : Flask + ward + 1 pot or Flask + 3 pots or Armor + 5 Pots

VS

Riven

Hard

No way you can beat a good riven. Hell, ive had issues against mediocre rivens. You go in and all she has to do is use stun. Even if you use W the stun is an AOE and it will stun you. You HAVE to ask your jungler for an early gank in this lane. If a riven gets going she will make your life hell. A couple of ganks in the early game will instantly win the lane for you. If jungler pressure is removed from both sides, a riven will beat a wukong.

Suggested Start : Flask + ward + 1 pot or Flask + 3 pots or Armor + 5 pots

VS

Rumble

Hard

Ask your jungler to gank at level 3. Pre-6 is where you want to get an advantage over this guy or after that hes just going to bully you. Rush a hexdrinker in this matchup. Dont be afraid of rushing a megatron cloak if you want tbh.

Suggested Start : Flask + ward + 1 pot or Flask + 3 pots

VS

Shen

Medium

Early game he's relatively weak. He has sustain but you have a massive burst. Go all out on him at level 2-3. You can ask for jungler assistance early on but you shouldn't need it. Mid/late game hes just going to become a rock and impossible for you to kill.
Oh and you can interrupt his ult with your ult.

Suggested Start : Flask + ward + 1 pot or Flask + 3 pots

VS

Shyvana

Medium

Avoid trading. You will always lose a trade when W is turned on. Poke and come back. Try to deal damage while taking minimum damage. Early game shut down is the only way of winning this lane. Once shyvanna gets going(assuming shes building tanky) you wont be able to beat her. If she's derping with a dps item build you will be able to beat her early/mid game.

Tl:dr Avoid long trades. Avoid fighting when W is turned on. Poke. Poke. Ult. Win.

VS

Singed

Medium

Early game he's your bitch. Q E that shit up whenever he comes near your minions. You HAVE to snowball this lane or your game is done. At one point in the game, you just wont be able to kill him. Before this point arrives, get as many kills as you possibly can.

Suggested Start : Flask + ward + 1 pot or Flask + 3 pots

VS

Talon

Easy

Play hyper aggressive. You're a fucking monkey. You cannot lose this lane.

Suggested Start : Longsword + 2 Pots

VS

Teemo

Easy

Go all out at level 2-3. Kill him once then kill him again when he comes back to lane. You should NOT lose this lane.

Suggested start : Long sword + 2 pots

VS

Trundle

Medium

Beat him before he makes a Botrk or a sunfire. If he completes that, you are going to be in a world of pain. He also scales better than you do. Going even in the lane wont help you. Do NOT build tanky against him in lane.

VS

Tryndamere

Easy

Easy lane. He's squishy and wont have more than your damage at early levels(Unless he gets a few of those lucky crits) Run an ignite in this lane and keep punishing him.

Suggested Start : Flask + ward + 1 pot or Flask + 3 pots

VS

Vladimir

Easy

This lane is easy as fuck. Everyone knows how weak vlad is early game and everyone knows how strong wukong's early game is. Take advantage early-mid game since vlad is at his weakest at that point. You cannot lose this lane.

Suggested start : Long sword + 2 pots

VS

Wukong

Hard

You cannot win this lane. Nobody can win this lane.

Suggested Start : Leave the game

VS

Xin Zhao

Medium

Bait his 3rd Q out on your clone. Most of his damage comes from his Q and once you get rid of it, go in a punish it. Watch out though, a good xin zhao will double tap minions and then jump on you. In any case, bait his Q out and you should do fine in this lane.

Suggested Start : Flask + ward + 1 pot or Flask + 3 pots

VS

Yorick

Medium

You have to get an advantage on this guy pre-6/early game. Early on his sustain/harass isn't as punishing as it is after he gets his tear. This is where you HAVE to capitalize. You will have to play this lane as a high risk high reward lane. Since once he gets his tanky shit on, you wont be doing much in the lane.

Suggested Start : Flask + ward + 1 pot or Flask + 3 pots

VS

Zac

Medium

Early game this blob is squishy so be aggressive. Your ult interrupts his E so try and time it accordingly. Late game will be difficult since he will get tanky as fuck. Deny him the late game and you will be fine.

Suggested Start : Flask + ward + 1 pot or Flask + 3 pots

VS

Zed

Medium

Use your W when he ults and then type #lata in all chat.
Wukong wins a 1v1 trade as long as you dont take stupid harass from his Q and his E.

Suggested Start : Flask + ward + 1 pot or Flask + 3 pots

Who am I? Back to Top

Hi I'm boogie and the owner of the popular series on youtube called Jukong wukes. I am a diamond division top laner and have been playing wukong since season 2. I used to play on EuW but had to recently move to garena due to ping issues from my new home. I maintain good ratios with wukong wherever I have played and he is the reason I have diamond today. I had about a 60 something win rate with wukong in about 100 games in season 2 as well and Id love to show the screenshot but I don't have the EuW version anymore. 93y8.png

Why did you not make a in-depth detail guide? Back to Top

Why? Because wukong dosent need one. Not everyone has the time or the patience to read walls of text. Wukong do-sent need millions of calculations and is  extremely easy to play. Everything you need to know about Jukong is in this guide.

Tl ; DR version Back to Top

  • Wukong is a better damage dealer than a tank
  • Wukong HAS to snowball early or he wont be effective for most part of the game
  • Always try to play wukong as a high risk high reward kinda champ
  • If you're new to wukong DO NOT pick him against darius/riven/renekton. These lanes will make you cry.
  • W has a base damage to it. Just because its very low dosent mean you should use it in a fight. I cant tell you how many times that 50 odd damage has gotten me that kill in a close trade
  • Try to never W Into a fight. There is a reason you have a gap closer. Typically, it should be a flash into a EQ combo and then your ult. Finish the duration and then W out. Then go back in for damage. Only W into a fight when you are finding it difficult to get into the backline
  • In lane your combo should be auto attack in a Q for the animation reset. Then E and 2 autos and back off. So its AA+Q+E+AA+AA
  • Try not to use W every time you go in. Youll finish your mana very quickly
  • Do not build him defensive ( Unless you derped your lane ). Wukong is an assassin. Hes not a tank
  • Never be afraid to initiate fights. Wukong is a beast initiater/jungler should always be the one initiating fights. Flash in, EQ them bitches and SPIN TO WIN.
  • Since you're not a tank, try to survive a fight as long as possible. Dont use the typical ' Go in, peel take as much as damage u can and then die' tactic.
  • In typical teamfights, try to go in to the squishiest targets. Do not try to hit everyone with your ult. Once the knockup is done, focus on one target, two if you're lucky. In most games people wont be stupid enough to just stack for you. So basically, instead of trying to dish out damage evenly to everyone, focus on one and wipe him off the map. Remember, Wukong is listed as a fighter and not a tank. There is a very good reason for it.
  • Watch this video everyday twice before you play wukong.
