Summoner Spells Back to Top

SUMMONER SPELLS

As Wukong, you should dominate your lane to snowball and destroy everything as you transition to mid game.

TAKE 14.png AT MID AND 12.png AT TOP

I always take 14.png at mid because it gives me so much burst early game to secure a fast kill. If your opponent got 12.png, you have a big advantage over trades. Also it helps against sustain based champions, and render 7.png useless if well timed. Also, 14.png stays really useful later in the game to secure a kill or add some burst to your combo.

At the top lane, 12.png is optimal on Wukong, to teleport back to lane, to join a drake contest, gank bot and help or push multiple lanes in late game, which is more useful for a top laner than 14.png

New Runes Back to Top

SEASON 8 - RUNES REFORGED

simply the best setup right there

PRIMARY - DOMINATION

Electrocute.png?width=64 Electrocute: Still the best keystone for 62.png. It is basically a buffed 6362.png. It adds even more damage to your combo, at the cost of a longer cooldown, which means that you will need to go for quick, lane winning trades rather than long ones. A single E > AA > Q > Ignite combo can kill off most of the mages at level 2 for a quick first blood now that they don't have any armor from runes. Also if you are fed enough, that combo with the electrocute proc will allow you to oneshot carries without needing your ultimate.

Sudden%20Impact.png?width=64 Sudden Impact: Holy shit. This synergizes like crazy with Wukong. After using your monkeykingnimbus.png, you gain 10 lethality for 5 seconds. This is insane for your assassination potential.

EITHER Eyeball%20Collection.png?width=64 Eyeball Collection: Being a snowball based champion, some extra damage from takedown is welcomed. Also, 3147.png allows you to find wards and kill them for extra stacks.
OR Zombie%20Ward.png?width=64 Zombie Ward: It allows you to lengthen your ward duration to avoid getting ganked because you don't have any escape. Also the wards you destroy with 3147.png becomes zombie wards and give vision to your team. This is up to preference.

Relentless%20Hunter.png?width=64 Retentless Hunter: Better than Ravenous%20Hunter.png?width=32 on Wukong for several reasons. First, he lacks mobility as a champion. Now, with this rune, unique takedowns give you out of combat movement speed which massively helps you roaming, chasing and engaging. With this, you can avoid using your monkeykingdecoy.png to engage and keep it as an escape since 3117.png3142.png and Relentless%20Hunter.png?width=32 will already make your movement speed insanely high. Second, Ravenous%20Hunter.png?width=32 only gives healing on abilities. It doesn't consider auto attacks or monkeykingdoubleattack.png and 3074.png. Your only damaging spells are monkeykingnimbus.png and monkeykingspintowin.png, which doesn't deal enough to make the healing efficient.

SECONDARY - PRECISION

No, sorcery isn't good on Wukong.

Triumph.png?width=64 Triumph: Basically a better version of 6343.png. After you get a kill, you restore 12% of your health and gain 20 additional gold. First, it can save you in the lane if you get a close kill; as if you fought your lane opponent, killed them, but their 14.png/minions didn't finish you because you healed 12%. Second, the 20 extra gold is always welcome to snowball even more.

Coup%20De%20Grace.png?width=64 Coup de Grace: Increases your damage by a whole 9% against champions with less than 40% of their health, which gain makes your assassination potential even stronger. You also get AD after a kill, which can help you kill off other key targets in teamfights.

Masteries Back to Top

SEASON 6 MASTERIES

By far those have been the masteries I find the most effective for 62.png. It gives you what you need for a good lane and a nice scaling into mid game. You can take Oppressor if you have a CC team but Wukong doesn't have movement impairing CC himself so it's not really benefiting.

Will be updated as changes are made and better masteries are found.

YOU CAN GO 18/12 WITH FERVOR OF BATTLE IF YOU PREFER.

KEYSTONES

Thunderlord's Decree mastery 2016 THUNDERLORD'S DECREE

Best keystone for 62.png so far. IT WAS MADE FOR HIM OMG. Gives him an enormous damage output early in the game and helps you a lot later to kill enemies. A simple E>auto>Q combo in lane to use TLD makes for gigantic damage output, even later on the game it makes your assassin potential colossal.

Fervor of Battle mastery 2016FERVOR OF BATTLE

I'm not a fan of this keystone for 62.png. It may work but it's not better than TLD. Wukong does not rely on long fights and neither on auto attacking, so this keystone is not very useful for him. If you need Battering Blows mastery, ending up with this keystone is a good choice, however.

Stormraider's Surge mastery 2016STORMRAIDER'S SURGE

Not a good choice. The move speed is really too much and it doesn't help you a lot. You would prefer damage with TLD as monkeykingspintowin.png and 3044.png already brings you a lot of move speed.

Grasp of the Undying mastery 2016GRASP OF THE UNDYING

A good choice on it's own, but on 62.png, this isn't good. It will only be useful in the early game, but then, later in the game, it will be garbage. Also you don't build a lot of health with him. I don't recommend it at all.

Strength of the Ages mastery 2016STRENGTH OF THE AGES

That's a really bad mastery for 62.png. Even if you are going full damage jungler, better go with a classic TLD. You will need to farm a lot to reach the milestone and the outcome isn't really rewarding. You better go with something else, it isn't worth wasting all your points in the resolve tree.

monkeykingspintowin.png>monkeykingnimbus.png>monkeykingdoubleattack.png>monkeykingdecoy.png

You always max your monkeykingnimbus.png first, whatever the playstyle or the lane is.

  • Can I take monkeykingdecoy.png at level 2?
Yes, it's extremely useful if you're at a gank threat or if you're in a hard match-up that can rush you at level 2. You can take monkeykingdecoy.png at level 2 and monkeykingdoubleattack.png at level 3.

  • Why max monkeykingnimbus_64.png over monkeykingdoubleattack_64.png ?
Because your monkeykingnimbus_64.png deals more damage than your monkeykingdoubleattack_64.png at every point of the game. Also, monkeykingnimbus.png has more versatility, has a lower cooldown, and also gives attack speed, and it can deal a surprising amount of damage as well as making your wave clear faster since you will be able to clear a minion wave in two monkeykingnimbus_64.png and some auto attacks, which takes at best 5 seconds in mid game.

Also the monkeykingdoubleattack_64.png armor reduction doesn't matter early game, so it is better to max it second to keep the armor reduction for mid and late game.

  • Start monkeykingdoubleattack_64.png instead of monkeykingnimbus_64.png?
I am not really a fan of starting Q. Starting E gives you more damage in trading. A good way to deals some damage at level 1 is to E on a last-hit near your lane opponent to hit both him and his minions without risks. Never use your E to push at level one, this is very bad to push your creeps to enemy tower at start as you lose farm and open yourself to ganks. Also don't try to jump on the enemy on early levels without your decoy, you will just have the whole minion wave taking you down.
  • When should I take monkeykingdecoy_64.png? Level 3 or 4?
ALWAYS take monkeykingdecoy_64.png at level 3. Because at this level, you are the most vulnerable to a gank. If you get ganked when you didn't take your monkeykingdecoy_64.png at level 3, you will most-likely die or be forced to flash. If you have an advantage on your opponent or you see the enemy jungler ganking another lane instead of yours, you can get monkeykingdecoy_64.png at level 4 so you can put a point in your monkeykingnimbus_64.png to win trades and dominate. I find this really risky, so you need a good reason to get it at level 4.

SEASON 8

Starting Items

1036_32.png2031.png

By far the best start for Wukong in every way. This is an extremely all-in start and you will need a decent experience with Wukong to start with this. I take it only in the cases I am gonna totally all-in my opponent in levels 1-2 and take a fast kill or an extreme lane dominance. This is a very flexible start that can turn into many good early games items, like helping you to build your 3147.png faster.

1054.png2003.png

Great item for sustain if you know you'll be harassed to death or if you're not confident about a match-up. I would only go for this in those situations and go long sword in the rest. Also if you're in extremely hard match-ups this helps a lot to survive the laning phase.

2033.png

A good choice especially at top lane. It provides all the sustain that is needed for a safe and sustained lane while allowing you to deal with every match-up. I'd grab this to be safe if I can't kill my lane opponent early or to stay in the lane longer since I don't take 12.png

--------------------------------

Items Choices (Assassin)

Best ever build for Wukong. He reached a peak performance assassin state, and his bruiser build is basically dead.

3147.png3142.png3071.png3026.png3156.png3117.png

This is how you play the monkey.

To start, you'll take a 1036_32.png2031.png or 1054.png2003.png depending on the match-up or your experience. Check out Starting Items for more explanation.

Then, you'll immediately rush a 3147.png. This item is really amazing now, giving you attack damage, cooldown reduction and a lot of lethality at a cheap cost. Its effect also gives you extra damage when coming out of stealth, and make your assassination potential even better. Also, you can disable wards and kill them for extra Eyeball%20Collection.png?width=32 stacks.

If you are struggling against a mage at mid, getting 3155.png first helps a lot.

For boots I exclusively go 3117_32.png. As an assassin this mobility is mandatory to roam, kill, catch-up and run. I don't take other boots with this build, because these outclasses every other. Also the cost makes it accessible if you're behind. If you really struggle against a full ad/assassin team go 3047.png, or against AP/CC, 3111.png. If you're top laner, defensive boots are more useful.

After this, go 3142.png. Same stats and cost as 3147.png, and its effect is still amazing; allowing you to get extra mobility for a few seconds, as well as out of combat for roaming everywhere.

Next, grabbing a 3071.png is the way to go. Still a great item especially for an assassin who wants the armor penetration and the damage, allowing you to shred tanks as well. Also the health and movement speed is a welcomed extra. If the carries on the enemy team have 3047.png to counter you, this item allows you to render those boots useless.

From now, you can adapt:

  • Take an old school 3074.png cause you know, it's been a core item for 4 years. AOE damage, healing, wave clear, animation cancelling. That item was simply made for Wukong.
  • 3026.png is extremely good; if you want to feel safe then take it. Cheap and brings a lot.
  • 3814.png is an amazing item to conclude your build as it brings even more lethality, damage and gives you a spell shield similar to 3102.png, allowing you to engage with less risk.
  •  3812.png allows you to tank burst damage as you can regen it with your damage, and especially when combined with 3074.png; both together give you an insane sustain.
  • 3156.png if you die fast due to mage burst when you engage. The magic resist shield and the extra stats you get at low health makes you hard to kill as you deal a lot of damage.
  • 3139.png if you get locked down by CC, but I don't like using this on Wukong.
  • Defensive options like 3026.png3742.png3065.png are all amazing on their own.
  • 3078.png is decent, not any better than the other options because it's overkill and expensive; but it's fun and late game you can replace boots with it.
  • 3035.png if the enemy team has lots of armor or the squishies have 3047.png. Take it mid build then upgrade it late game.

This build is actually the optimal assassin build for Wukong. It may change in the future as the meta changes. (and oh boy it did change much through all those years)

--------------------------------

Items Choices (Bruiser)

Avoid going bruiser at all unless for funsies. This build is straight up not good anymore and you should just go assassin.

3071.png 3074.png 3742.png 3156.png 3026.png 3111.png

If the lane is balanced or your opponent has a slight edge, grabbing one or two 1075_32.png will help your lane dominance with some damage, health and sustain. Anyways in every case you want to buy your 3071.png as fast as possible, this item gives you everything you need.

If you are really struggling against an AP opponent, going 3155_32.png will help you a lot, but buy this before 3071.png only if you are losing really hard.

Get tier 2 boots quickly. 3111.png or 3047.png depending on the enemy team or lane opponent.

Then, get the classic 3074.png, I don't need to add anything about this amazing item. But 3748.png also works.

From there, everything is situational. You can consider  some defensive options like 3742.png3065.png3026.png3156.png3053.png, or offensive options like 3147.png3142.png3814.png3078.png.

--------------------------------

Items Choices (Jungle)

1400.png 3147.png 3142.png 3071.png 3026.png 3117.png

The Wukong jungle build is pretty simple and adaptive.

Start with a 1041.png2031.png. After that, when you got enough money, you should go for 3706_32.png. Upgrading your flask to 2032.png is a good idea if needed.

3706.png is the best jungle item for Wukong as it deals extra true damage and allows you to steal movement speed to chase and kill. 3711.png isn't very good as you already have enough vision with control wards and trinkets, and 3715.png is to avoid as this item is for auto attack based champions that can make a great use of the active effect to deal a lot of burn damage, which Wukong can't do as he's more burst based.

After you took your jungle item you should evolve it into 1400.png. The warrior enchantment is the best on Wukong because the stats are so good and cost-efficient, a cheap power spike to deal a lot of damage early.

For boots choice, exclusively go 3117_32.png for your roaming and map presence needs. If you're really behind, defensive boots could be better.

From now on, consider two possible build paths:

  • Go full blown assassin with the classic  3147.png3142.png 3071.png trinity. End your build with whatever is needed.
  • Rush 3071.png, then end with defensive items, or a few more damage items.

--------------------------------

Boots Choices

3009_32.png3117_32.png3111_32.png3047_32.png

3117_32.png are the best boots for Wukong. Their versatility is what make them good: cheap cost, engage, roam, chasing..

3009_32.png are actually very good on Wukong because of their utility: you don't lose your move speed in combat compared to 3117_32.png, and they also reduce the slow effectiveness.

3111_32.png against CC or AP teams. I usually take them when I don't need a good mobility and need to defend against a hard CC or AP burst team.

3047_32.png against auto-attack based team. Run them if the enemy team is full of fed auto-attack based champions. I don't usually take them, but take them if the enemy team is 4-5 AD only. Otherwise, don't.

3158_32.png are awful. This is a noob trap.

Your assassin build already maxes your CDR at 40%.

Spend money FOR cooldown reduction on Wukong is a waste of item space and gold. This is just irrelevant. You don't scale on CDR, your cooldowns are already low enough and you want to kill as quick as possible. You have better options.

--------------------------------

Why not?

  • 3153_32.png
  • Wukong does not scales on auto-attacks, he is an AD caster
  • The stats given are extremely mediocre
  • The active isn't useful for you
  • Never buy this item on Wukong.
  • 3078_32.png
  • You can buy it if you have money and need it, but it is really average
  • I don't really find the stats good on Wukong, it doesn't give impressive or needed stats.
  • The sheen passive will only help you into improving your Q damage
  • The rage passive won't be that useful because you don't auto-attack too much
  • 3068_32.png
  • Your ultimate already deals a massive amount of AOE damage, you don't need more
  • The stats of this item are very early game.
  • This item is meant to be rushed. You are not a tank.
  • Outclassed right now.
  • 3087_32.png
  • lol no
  • 3022_32.png
  • This is too expensive
  • It doesn't give you enough damage
  • Too much health for nothing else
  • The passive is not really efficient because you are not AA reliant and the duration is too short.
  • 3083_32.png
  • Too much HP
  • Too much HP regen
  • Keep your gold for something else
  • 3025_32.png
  • You don't need 30 AP
  • You don't need so much mana
  • Low armor provided
  • The active and this item are just not good on Wukong.
  • 3046.png
  • lol no
  • 3110.png
  • Too much useless mana
  • The armor can be found elsewhere
  • Don't take this item, go 3742.png or 3143.png.
  • 3075_32.png
  • Only in rare cases where their team is full auto-attack based, but you need to combine it with other armor/health items
  • Otherwise it is worthless to take since you are not a full tank.
  • 3031_32.png
  • eyy
  • Only in case of a massive destruction when your team is heavily stomping and this is a ff@15
  • 3512.png
  • Gives irrelevant stats
  • Too situational, even for tanks
  • If you want resistances you can find them elsewhere
  • 3800.png
  • The stats it provides aren't needed
  • The active is meh for you, you already have better engage options
  • 3094.png
  • lol no
  • 3193.png
  • Not a fan of it because it's more appropriate for tanks that want to take damage
  • Even if it provides good resistance, you lose damage in the process

All these items are else too inappropriate, too troll, too average or just situational. But I would suggest to avoid them all.

VS

Aatrox

Medium
Aatrox is a very squishy and weak champion early game, the advantage is yours. Try to take the lane lead early before his sustain becomes too high and he win trades. You should try to kill him as soon as possible, or take the highest lead possible, so you can zone him really fast before he becomes a real threat.

VS

Ahri

Easy
She's very squishy and won't be so hard to kill. Would suggest to start aggressively and try to kill her early. When you farm, dodge her orb by moving after each hit. Also try to block her charm with your decoy. Level 6 she will become hard to fight with because of her ultimate that makes her almost unkillable. So before this you should benefits from your advantage and take the best lead by zoning her.

VS

Akali

Easy
This match-up is so easy when mastered. Just trade her when she goes for melee farm. Don't get close to her when you have the mark. When she stealth just decoy out of the smoke, wait it ends, and harass her again. Go for a kill when you can. She is weaker than you at every point of the game. There is no real way you can lose this match-up. Don't let her roam and get kills. Follow her everywhere she goes.

VS

Alistar

Medium
Alistar is a hard due to his early game dominance. Don't try to engage a trade or he will just bump and kick you into his tower/minions and kill you. Don't under estimate his damage, especially his E stun. Don't try to fight him at level 6, he is unkillable.
If he builds tanky, farm. If he build damage, then you can be winning if you play with his mana and cooldowns and if his ult is on cooldown.

Take the lead when he is out of mana since he won't be able to fight back.

VS

Amumu

Easy
He is so easy to deal with in jungle you can counter gank him and ruin him so easily. His ganks are weak before level 6 like you.
But be careful in later teamfights, when he becomes hard to kill and his engage becomes better than yours.

VS

Anivia

Medium
She's extremly easy to kill early for you since she's squishy and can't defend. Jump when she is out of safety and you can kill her so easily.
Don't forget that if this is a good Anivia player you may have troubles. Getting stunned will be your end. Just farm or wait for an opportunity.

Also, if you can't take down her egg in the duration or if she died under her tower, don't get baited and just let it go. You already made her easy to kill for the next few minutes.
A good Anivia might win against you but a bad one will be losing really hard.

VS

Annie

Medium
For this match-up I suggest you to stay focused on her stun. Annie likes to farm with Q, so it stacks her stun. A good Annie will keep their stun to zone you; a bad Annie waste it on creeps. At some point, she'll waste the stun to farm as her auto attack farm is hard. Jump on Annie to harass her when she can't get enough spells off to stun you so you can take advantage of the lane.
She is a very hard lane bully so be careful, one mistake will cost you the game since you'll fall far behind.

I suggest to rush a 3155_32.png.

VS

Aurelion Sol

Medium
He can deal a lot of damage and be really annoying to you. His aurelionsolQ.png is easy to dodge, you just have to turn around it even when it's big as you see it coming. His aurelionsolW.png makes his stars goes further which is useful against ranged champions but as 62.png can easily go all-in it's not very useful for close combats. You have to go on him every time when you know he can't do anything. All you need to do to avoid the majority of his damage is to play around his stars. Care about aurelionsolR.png, it deals tons of damage while knocking you back.

VS

Azir

Hard
Difficulty: 9/10
Starting Item: 1054.png2003.png
Playstyle: Safe

All you need to do is to not stay in his soldier's range. He can't do much without them. Just be sure to stay far from them to not take any damage. Try to jump on him when they aren't in range so you can win the trade and when he sends them to you and to stun you with E, run away with your decoy. That shouldn't be hard.

TAKE THE BEST LEAD AT EARLY LEVELS or he will just make you recall every 30 seconds with his insane soldier harass later.

At level 6, avoid trying to 1 on 1 him as he has the edge. Try to make him panic and waste it so that it turns to your advantage. Otherwise, farm.

VS

Blitzcrank

Easy

Decoy his grab. gg ez

VS

Brand

Medium
He is very squishy but also deals a lot of damage so be careful when you jump on him; he can just stun you, doing more damage than you and forcing you to flash or die. Anyways if you block this stun with your decoy and trade him at right time he shouldn't be hard to kill.

VS

Camille

Medium
Block her hookshot with your W. You have an edge in trades if you can jump in at the right time, when she Q to farms or miss W. You should also bait her shield away before trading. At level 6, she becomes tough as she prevents you to escape, baiting her R into your decoy is also a way to win easily. Go full damage and you can beat her at most stages of the game.

VS

Cassiopeia

Medium
You should have an easy time farming and roaming to take the lead since she's not very strong early. Be careful of her cassiopeiaw.png as it prevents you from using your monkeykingnimbus.png, don't stay on it.
Try to get an early lead but avoid getting hit by her cassiopeiaq.png. Later in the game, it will be really hard to fight her if you don't have an advantage.

VS

Cho'Gath

Medium
A good Cho'Gath will be IMPOSSIBLE to kill. I've tried many many, many times. All you'll do is waste your mana. He has a stupid sustain and tankiness, while still dealing massive damage, and the stun/silence combo can render you unable to fight him. Farm, and wait for your jungler to come and kill him.

VS

Darius

Medium
Fight him at level 1, this is how you get the lead over him. Push and get level 2 to get him even lower. If you can kill him, you win, if not, then it will be a bit tougher.
Try to grab some 1075_32.png if you have a lead before level 6 to keep the pressure on him.
At level 6, do not fight him, except if you have a big lead or if your jungler comes. If you lose really hard, just leave your lane roam, Darius has a smaller presence than you, and doesn't bring a lot in teamfights.

JOKES ON YOU THIS MOTHERFUCKER IS BROKEN, JUST DODGE THE GAME

VS

Diana

Medium
Try to dodge her Q's then jump on her. She will not be so hard to kill. She has a weaker early than you because of her lack of damage. so you can kill her easily. Don't underestimate her, she is tough and her combo hurts after some items. I suggest you to harass her when it is possible and kill. A 3155.png will help as her level 6 will make the match-up hard.

VS

Dr. Mundo

Medium
Farm, wait your jungler, or kill him if he is stupid. No other solution. A good Mundo won't die. Just farm, roam, that's it. But you still have a early advantage because he is squishy at the first levels so try to get a kill. Anyways when he comes back with his 1011_32.png, just turtle tower. Try your best to dodge cleavers, ask your team to buy grievous wounds items.
In late game you should not focus him, if he goes for your ADC, let the team peel, or let the ADC kite if he can, but you shouldn't focus him except if behind.

VS

Ekko

Medium

May be annoying but this is at your advantage. His Q is easy to dodge, when he uses it, jump on him in an angle where you'll avoid the return. Try to not get hit by his passive and run with decoy if you have 2 stacks. You can easily trick his E or W into your decoy so use it when you're fighting. About his ultimate, try to knock him up at the moment he wants to ult and escape, also don't stay in his shadow range or you'll take a lot of damage.

VS

Elise

Easy

She's extremely easy for you to kill. Block her spells with your decoy and kill the little spiders with your AOE damage. You can countergank her easily or duel her since you are better than her early. Use that to get a lead.

VS

Evelynn

Medium

She will be easy to deal with in jungle since she starts squishy as hell, and her ganks before level 6 are worse than yours. She shouldn't be hard to beat but later in the game she deals a lot of damage. Block her charm with your decoy.

VS

Ezreal

Medium

Ez can be a real pain at mid or top. AD or AP. Try to jump in only when he wasted his Q or W to try to poke you. A good Ez player will bait you and ezrealarcaneshift.png away when you monkeykingnimbus.png to cancel yourmonkeykingdoubleattack.png, making you waste mana so be careful with this.

VS

Fiddlesticks

Medium

You won't have anything to stop his drain before your ult. So don't try to fight him directly. Anyways he is squishy so it's an easy kill if you have a mate to cancel his drain.

In late game if he is being an annoyance to your team with his ult you should concentrate on warding the bushes where he hides and prepare to jump on him and cancel his ult when he is channeling it.

VS

Fiora

Hard
She's hard to beat.

Do not fight her, except if she wasted her fioraq.png and didn't hit her passive, go on her and win the trade, but try to spread your damage so your whole combo won't be sponged by her fioraw.png. Do not fight her if she can easily fioraq.png you onto your weak spot, stay near creeps. When she fiorae.png, bait her attacks on your decoy. And run away from her fiorar.png, do not fight her while under the effect or you'll die.

VS

Fizz

Easy
Show this guy that monkey > fish. Don't lose this fighting. When he W to farm or to harass you, jump on this guy and give him some stick slaps on the cheeks to show who's the best animal.

When you feel he gonna ult shark your ass, just decoy and write /all #lata.

VS

Galio

Medium

The new Galio is a bit tough. Your best bet is to farm and avoid his galioq.png. Jump on him whenever he uses it and miss you, then you should block his galioe.png with your monkeykingdecoy.png. When you see him channeling his galiow.png, his jungler is probably coming so he will 4.png on you to taunt you and kill you, so run away.

VS

Gangplank

Medium

Destroy the barrels or avoid them, and when he gangplankqwrapper.png you go in for a trade and block his passive with decoy. He deals a lot of damage so beware of that. Asking for ganks is your best bet since you'll have an hard time killing him.

VS

Garen

Hard

dodge the game

VS

Gnar

Easy

Against Mini Gnar: He is weak at levels 1-3. Jump at him early because he's an easy kill. Always decoy and back off when you got 2 stacks so you can win time and stay safe until you can jump again on him.

Against Mega Gnar: A bit tougher. He is strong early game with his damage output so all you need to do is to make him misses his spells so he loses all his damage, becoming a free kill for you. Otherwise, just stay save whenever he is about to transform.

If you don't have the lead over him just stay passive when he is gonna transform and try to farm. Otherwise Gnar is extremely easy if played well. You can out damage him at any level.

VS

Gragas

Medium
A bit tough but you can do it.

You should dodge his gragase.png and not get hit by his gragasw.png AOE damage, then you'll be fine. Also avoid his gragasq.png harass as it's mana costy for him. It's really hard to kill him so getting a farm lead is your best bet.

VS

Hecarim

Medium

He's a tough guy in jungle since he has a good 1v1 early. Ward your second buff.

His ganks are better than yours early so focus on his position and roaming to follow him and countergank.

VS

Heimerdinger

Medium

Don't do anything. Stay at your tower, try to farm, that's it. If you jump at him you are dead, dead and dead. Just try to grab as much farm as you can. Call your jungler before level 6 as you can kill him easily. Grab an early 3077.png, it will greatly help you.

VS

Illaoi

Medium

Very tanky and deals massive damage. I don't recommend picking Wukong against her. Don't trade with her until she misses illaoiQ.png on you. Also, if you get hit by her illaoiE.png, stay fighting or stay in the circle, but don't run away: the debuff is gonna be annoying to deal with. Be careful of fighting her even with your jungler because the heals that her tentacle damages provides is big. Don't let your monkeykingdecoy.png get hit by them or she's gonna heal a lot. Also run away when she illaoir.png because holy, tentacles can delete you in a second.

VS

Irelia

Medium

Skill match-up.

Irelia doesn't really likes to jump in to harass, your kits are a bit similar but you have some advantage. All you need to do is to avoid getting stunned because if you do, you'll lose. If you block it with your decoy you win. Ask your jungler for a quick gank because killing her once will put you at advantage.

VS

Ivern

Easy

He's really easy to counterjungle as his jungle pattern is predictable and always the same. Also he doesn't have a big utility but when played well he can be an annoyance, you still have better ganking either way.

VS

Jarvan IV

Medium
I suggest you not to try to 1v1. A good J4 who counterjungles/countergank you all day long is gonna ruin your game. Late game if your team is engaging you should take advantage of his ult. If he traps his team into it, you are free to jump and put a devastating cyclone.

In top lane, don't under estimate his damage. Try to fight after level 2, and stay safe from his Q at level 1. J4 is very mana-hungry. Anyways, when you get past the first levels, you will scale and have more damage than him, but his level 6 deals a lot of damage.

VS

Jax

Medium

Skill match-up.

DONT FIGHT HIM AT LEVEL 1 ! If you get stunned at lvl 1 by his E, you lose lane. Let him engage with dodge at lvl 1, don't get hit by the stun and then counter-trade
Try to make him waste his dodge with your E then run away. His E cooldown is 3 or 4x longer than your E, so you can just trade easily.

Care of his level 6, he becomes really hard to 1v1. His ult passive gives ridiculously high damage output and bonus armor reduct your damage, I suggest you not fighting him at this point except if you already took a enormous lead. Work with your jungler to shut him down at level 6.

VS

Jayce

Medium
You got more damage than him. Not that hard but do not fight too early since he has more spells than you.
Jump at him hen he is at canon form and when he goes to hammer form run away. Don't fight him in hammer cause a good Jayce will time his E with your nimbus strike to win lane easily. When he canon and misses ball, go in. Try to dodge his EQ combo throughout the game since this hurts so hard. You will rely on your decoy to prevent him from killing you through his insane lethality.

VS

Karthus

Easy

A walking free kill for assassins. So ridiculously squishy that you can just 1 combo him at level 2. However don't get hit by his karthuslaywastea1.png forever or he'll zone you out, especially when he gets enough mana to spam it.

By the way, you can cancel his ult damage on you if EXACTLY timed with your monkeykingdecoy.png. It takes insane reaction time and precision. I did it a few times but it's a gamble.

VS

Kassadin

Easy
Not very hard to beat early. You can free harass him as he doesn't punish you very hard. Try to kill him before level 6. After that just jump on him making him ult away and farm freely.
Be careful when he get some armor he can outscale you later.

VS

Katarina

Medium
It can be a very tough match-up if the Katarina is skilled enough.

Just rush a 3155.png or get level 2 first then immediately go for a killer combo. if you manage a first blood you win.

At level 6 watch out for her harassing you then diving you instantly, you should be careful about timing your ultimate with hers. If you do she will lose a lot of damage output and will be forced to retreat/die.

VS

Kayle

Medium

Harass her early and block her Q with your decoy. It will be easy until level6...

Don't even try to fight her alone after that. Her ult makes her so hard to kill.

VS

Kayn

Medium

skill match-up. more damage than you, but less utility. you need to time your decoy well to avoid his combo. you are still a better teamfighter and if you have a better map pressure he'll transform late and be less useful.

VS

Kennen

Easy

Just time your marks to not get stunned. But get a few pots, he will be poking you to hell.

Fight him whenever you do not have marks. Try to not get stunned. If you can decoy his Q to get only 2 marks for the rest of the combo, you win.

VS

Kha'Zix

Easy

In the jungle try to not fight him his kit is strong early too much damage so you will be hardly winning.

Same rule for top or mid you should try to fight him under your creeps or you will take a big amount of damage. Now if 121_64.png evolves his W you should jump on him and makes him regret when he uses it to farm. If he evolves Q first he will be weaker than when evolving W but still don't bother fighting him without minions near, if you are isolated, you lose so hard.

VS

Kindred

Easy

They are easy to deal with. Squishy as fuck, very easy to kill before they react, just care about their ultimate that can save them from death while they're killing you. Also get away of her wolf's zone and run when you are marked with her E. Focus on taking the camps that are marked if you are the jungler.

VS

Kled

Medium

Skill match-up. Dodge his Q, and when he goes in with E to use his W, decoy and run away until the duration ends then jump on him. Harass him until he loses his mount, then he's an easy kill for you, just don't let him get attacks off or he will get back Skaarl really fast. You can block his ult with your decoy, but he still will gain insane movement speed.

VS

LeBlanc

Medium

i dont even understand how she works now help

VS

Lee Sin

Medium

Here we are, your BIGGEST rival.

Let's talk about this blind guy point per point.
What make me laugh is that when I pick Wukong the enemy will go on a counter site and see 10000 votes for lee sin and pick it. Then the result is always me winning lol. No guys just he don't counter Wukong. You are wrong.

First, in jungle. Lee sin has a slight advantage on you because of revealing you in stealth. And his ganks are better. And his snowball is better. But Wukong gameplay isn't only stealth. You have more damage at all points of the game. Still you shoud try not fighting him directly in jungle cause he has the strongest jungle early.
But then you are the master.

In top...

- Dodge his Q or block with decoy. If he Q to your decoy then he will E to reveal you. He wasted 70% of his damage output, applause him. Jump at him and win trade.
If he don't wanna play with you and kick your monkey ass when you spintowin with your stick, it is still worth because he took 50% of the over-time damage of your ult while he wasted his ult.
3074_32.png vs 3074_32.png ? Monkey wins.
- Now with all the tips when you get all enough damage, you can show him who's the best monk(ey) master on summoners rift. And that randomlolcountersite.free.elo isn't a good source to win.

If this Lee is good enough, in the fight he is gonna stay near his carry to kick your ass far from him while you ult. It's good because he wastes his time peeling his carry instead of focusing.

VS

Lissandra

Medium

Liss is really hard to deal with because she is a really tough counter to melee champions, top or mid. With some reaction she can stop your E with her W during the dash and wreck you. Before she gets her 3191_32.png and ult, you have advantage. After that you are most likely outscaled, so keep on farming and roaming. When you E her, immediately press Q so your long range auto will go even though she used her W.

VS

Lulu

Medium

Oh god. This fucking Lulu. I hate seeing her at mid or top, with every champ I play, this shit is boring. Can't really do much in a 1 on 1. Ask for a jungler gank early otherwise just farm.

She turns into a peeling machine later in the game so you really need to coordinate with your team to dive their backline.

VS

Lux

Easy

So easy. She is so fucking squishy that It's so funny. I always jump on her early, dodge her cage and she is done. Kill her as many times as possible before she grabs armguard. It's an extremely easy lane.

VS

Malphite

Medium

Can't kill him. Just afk farm until you can roam, you can't kill this shit with 300 armor at 5 minutes, even with your jungler's help. And even when full tank he deals a lot of damage. I just hope that your team ain't full AD or you're gonna have a really really hard late game.

VS

Malzahar

Hard

When he pushes hard early game, don't stay near minions to not take his E and get dealt annoying damage. Don't fight him before he uses his spells to push, and at level 6 be careful, his ult can be used as a bait for a jungler, and if he uses it in the middle of the minion wave you're dead. Your strategy should be to just farm it out until your jungler comes or until mid game when you got some damage.

VS

Maokai

Medium

You can't kill him you can't outdamage him. Just call your jungler and try to kill him. His sustain is retarded, try to bait it and then run away to drain his mana. Play passive, do not fight him. He is too tanky throughout the whole game, while keeping great damage.

VS

Master Yi

Easy

Early game he can outdmg you, but then you are more likely better. While Yi farm, you gank, and take kills, and take objectives, and take game. If he wanna gank/countergank, he will fails because you are way stronger than him early jungle.

Late game, Yi is dangerous, the key is to peel for your carry. If your team does that well, you can focus on their backline instead.

VS

Mordekaiser

Medium

Stupid. You can't beat him. He spams on your ass all day long, and you can't trade him. Play with your jungler because he's really immobile.

VS

Nasus

Medium

Nasus is easy to beat early on since he only thinks about building up his Q for late game. Jump on him whenever It's possible. You should normally be able to kill him. If the Nasus builds a lot of armor and is aggressive with you, you are gonna have a bad time. Profit of your early level advantage to fucks his game up. Once he gets tanky ask your jungler to camp because all you'll do by yourself is waste your mana on him.

VS

Nautilus

Medium

We don't see many Nautilus now, but he is and always was a nice jungler. He is tanky, has nice damage and shield early game, so you have a hard time in 1v1. And if you countergank him it's gonna be about skill because this guy got too much CCs.

VS

Nidalee

Easy

Nidalee was always a easy match-up for Wukong. She was a bit tough when she was top lane dominant after rework but now after the nerf It's easy to deal with.

Same gameplay if she is ad or ap, she wanna spear you to jump on you and combo you. If she misses a spear jumps on her and makes her regret. If she hit one and jump on you, decoy and makes her waste her combo on your decoy.

VS

Nocturne

Medium

Stupid damage output early, stupid 3hours fear. Don't bother trying to 1v1 him in the jungle. If he is counterjungling, you will be somehow fucked. Nocturne isn't a really good ganker, you can take advantage of it to countergank and try to get higher than him.

VS

Nunu

Medium
If he is passive and farm his own jungle like a cool guy it won't be hard.

If he is aggressive and camp you, stay far from him. If you see him, run. If he is taking your whole jungle, coordinate with your mates to try to take him down.

You can't fight him, you can't beat him, you can't countergank him. He stays in your jungle permanently, he steals your creeps, he slows you forever, and run away or chase you with 800 move speed. Try to do your best and grab advantage with ganks. If you meet him in the jungle you just need to run except if you found a way to take him down.

Even if he's got a strong early, his mid and late game are very bad. You got more presence than him at this point.

VS

Olaf

Hard

Nope. You can't. He deals way more damage than you so he'll punish you really hard for trying to trade, and he's a way better laner.

I would suggest you a laneswap with your mid.

VS

Orianna

Medium

Skill match-up.

Try to analyze if you should engage on her at level 1. If she started E you will have troubles, if she started Q it's easier.

Kill her as much as possible before she gets armor and mana because she will be able to poke you with QW all day when you farm.
Don't forget late game she has more presence than you. Don't get caught in her ult, try to dive her during teamfights.

VS

Ornn

Medium

played the same as any regular tank match-up, if you can't kill him then just farm. ornn deals quite a bit of damage so that shouldn't be neglected. it isn't be very hard to lane against him.

VS

Pantheon

Hard
There's no real way you can win vs him. Maybe you are able to kill him or hold him early with 1029_32.png2003_32.png but you will still be outscaled all lane long. All you should do is not die against him because you have a well better late than him. If he ganks another lane, push. Ask your jungler for ganks fast.

dodge the game cause fuck this

VS

Poppy

Medium

The new Poppy can be very hard for you like it can be very easy. She can stop your Nimbus Strike with her W, that will be problematic for you. Don't get pushed into a wall or you're gonna eat tons of damage. If you dodge her Q damage which is her stronger source of damage you win. Try to dodge her ult or she can easily disengage or finish you.

VS

Quinn

Medium

She is a real pain in the ass in the lane.

If you engage her she E you, and then reduce your vision with her Q and kite you even more. I suggest you to farm and grab the most farm you can, because you will get mostly fucked in trades and zoned. If she wastes her Q to push, or her E on decoy zone you, you have the advantage in a trade.  Later in the game, she can flank easily with her ult, especially when she gets help from her teammates so, ward the map and avoid going alone.

VS

Rammus

Medium

We all know that Rammus has a really hard early, but Wukong isn't strong at counterjungling, so it will be very hard to ruin him. You have more damage so your counterganking can't go wrong. Be careful since if your team is AD-based, you will most-likely get fucked by him late game. So you need to end fast and snowball on his team.

VS

Rek'Sai

Medium

She has an extremely high damage output and domination early game. When you see a tunnel, destroy it by standing on it. She can easily comes to take your jungle and go back  to where she was so ward your jungle or prepare. Also her ganks are really good, her damage is higher than yours, so only gank if your mates are better early game or if you got an advantage. Do not really attempt to fight her alone or you might lose. If you deny her tunnels, her mobility will be limited, so her map pressure will be low.

VS

Renekton

Hard

Renekton is a very hard match-up for Wukong. Against him I don't try to trade except if he uses his Q to push and farm. If he is bad, he will waste his stun on your decoy, making the trade very advantageous for you. Also don't bother trying to fight him directly at level 6 because his ult is stronger than yours in duels. Against him, play safe. But if you can get a lead and win the lane from any way, destroy him.

VS

Rengar

Medium

Rengar is not a so easy match-up if he is played well. He is just gonna stack up his ferocity and jumps on you to do a full devastating combo. At the start, if he tries to zone you by staying in a bush, just wait for him to jump and then do your combo.

When he got all his stacks, try to not get out of his bush range, or just decoy when he jumps on you, so he is gonna burn all his spells and makes you win trade. Your level 6 is stronger than him since his ult only helps him to escape or chase you in lane.

In jungle, Rengar prefer to farm until level 6, except for a ferocity bola gank. You have less damage than him early game. Facing him during a gank will be painful; I'd rater wait level 6 to countergank him since Wukong's ult has got more presence.

VS

Riven

Hard

It is a really, really hard match-up because Riven has more damage than Wukong throughout the whole game. You can still be able to win if she is stupid and use her Q to farm at level one, or if you get a level and gold advantage by any way. If you can't fight her, farm at tower and be safe. Riven's level 6 will mostly destroy you.

dodge or ban her, because riven players are always some retarded otp that can't play anything else

VS

Rumble

Medium

Skill match-up.

A bad Rumble while just spam his flame thrower to harass you all day long. When the effect ends, jump on him. Rumble got less damage than you in the first levels, you better take advantage before you become a yummy monkey bbq.
Rumble ultimate is easy to juke, if he misses it or if you get out of it before taking the entire, you got to win the 1v1 so easily.
Profit of his red zone to trade him, he won't be able to cast anything, all he can do is AA your decoy.

VS

Ryze

Medium

This match-up is yours, all you need to do is try to not eat so much harass. Try to rush level 2 before him and punish him since your level 2 is more powerful, and also try to go on him when he wasted his Q/E, try to bait him into using everything on the clone.

If you are losing, 3155_32.png will help you, try to get jungler ganks before he becomes a big threat.

VS

Sejuani

Medium
Annoying to beat, avoid being where she is as she's better early, but try to clear your jungle fast so you can have more presence. Then it all comes down to skill.

VS

Shaco

Hard

He has a very fast cleaning, a good counter-jungling and powerful ganks in early. You should be really careful and ward your second buff or ask your team to do it because he will most of the time come to take it and kill you.

Also don't try to fight him since he is very strong early game and you can't have more presence than him. Anyway your level 6 is stronger in ganks. Just don't try to get near him before.

VS

Shen

Medium
Impossible to kill. If you face him, just farm, farm and farm. There is no way to kill him. You can maybe win trades but he won't accept to die. Just farm and don't push too much or he may taunt you to tower/minions and kill you.
Try to get a lead before he buys HP and Armor, or get a jungler gank, otherwise, don't try to kill him, you can't. When you see him try to ult a teammate, knock him up, even if that costs you a flash.

VS

Singed

Medium

HOW COME  I FORGOT TO MAKE A MATCH UP FOR THIS CHAMP SINCE SO LONG?

So yes Singed is a skill match-up. You can lose like you can win. He's not very great at level 1 so you can go get an advantage. Be careful from level 2 because if you get a little to greedy and jump on him he will just fling you into his tower and you're gonna die. Usually when he gets tanky it's a very bad to fight and chase him because he will just deal loads of damage while moving very fast, regening and slowing you.

VS

Sion

Medium
Wukong got an advantage on this match-up because he can dodge Sion's spells easily. You must play differently depending on his build path.
If he plays AD and max Q, you won't have an hard time. The trick to win this match-up is to dodge his damage spells. Just engage with E Q and go behind him to dodge his Q and his E with your W if needed. Wukong's damage output and utility is higher than AD Sion's.
If he is going full tank and maxing W you should play defensive because Wukong can't really kill tanks in lane unless you got an early superiority and you got armor penetration. His W deals really hard magic damage and gives him a nice shield. If you see an occasion, use it.
His ult can be easily denied just by pressing decoy when he casts it and turns in unexpected direction or flashing. Don't forget that his ult's damage is AOE so you should try to run from the zone

VS

Skarner

Medium

It is skilled. Skarner is very annoying all game long because of his sticking, stun and damage, but you can easily control it. Skarner does not really gank before level 6 like you. Try to take advantage. Also if he is gonna ult you, you can decoy to brain him which can be funny. You are somehow clearly stronger at all points of the game.

VS

Swain

Medium

Skill match-up.

DO ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING TO STOP HIM AT FIRST LEVELS. You should try everything to stop him before he becomes absolutely invincible. If you can kill him or take advantage, do it. If you are scared, take a 3155_32.png.

If you took an advantage over him, the level 6+ won't be painful, but if you didn't, then it will be about skill.

Swain is very mana hungry under his bird form but also have many AOE stun and damage over time so your decoy is clearly near to useless. Try to dive him only when ignite is ready because he rely on the sustain to owns with his ult. If you have the potential to 100-0 him or you are far ahead from him then you will have no problems.

VS

Syndra

Medium

Skill match-up but clearly I think you got the advantage. Try to dodge her poke at level 1 and if she misses a ball, jump on her and make her regret.

Level 2 is easier if she took W. Try to dash a minion to hit her so you can dodge spells without problems. If you take an advantage by your superior damage output then you are totally dominant. Try to bait her ult into your decoy, and grab a 3155.png to avoid getting nuked.

VS

Tahm Kench

Medium

Difficult to deal with and to kill. Play safe and don't try to kill him. Block his tahmkenchQ.png with your monkeykingdecoy.png. Try to also use monkeykingdecoy.png to run away when he stacked the passive on you. You probably won't be able to out trade him because of his tahmkenchE.png.

VS

Talon

Easy

Talon will hate you in the lane. You have more damage and a better lane than him and he won't be able to out trade you. Also try to get level two before him to get an advantage. You out trade him at every level.

Be careful, he's a better assassin at later stages so one misplay can allow him to kill you, even if you have an advantage. He's also really hard to kill when he hops walls or go invisible.

VS

Teemo

Hard

dodge the game

If you go against a good Teemo, you are done. Especially if he starts Q. Try to grab as more farm as you can and do not die.

If he is a bronze with 10 armor starting E, you win, otherwise, you are done, you cant do anything, if you harass him, you'll pay.

VS

Tristana

Easy

who plays trist solo lane tho

VS

Trundle

Hard

Almost impossible. Trundle out trades everyone with his AD steal, his steroid and slow, and his ult stealing resistances. Try to not fight him, or only do it when he uses his Q to farm, where he is vulnerable. Otherwise work with your jungler or farm, you can't out trade a Trundle except if he is stupid.

VS

Tryndamere

Medium

Skill match-up. You should normally win because your first levels are better, you have more damage, so you should take advantage. Beware of his level 6, ignite him only after his ult started, then run away. If you dominate your lane, you won't have any problem.

If he split pushes, it will be hard, because if he is equal in gold with you, you will lose the duel. Try to kill him as much as possible before he becomes a big threat that you can't deal with.

VS

Twisted Fate

Easy

He is squishy, he is weak early game, you can't lose. Try to bait his W and when he wastes it you easily fuck him with an harass. You can't die to him except if you excel at jumping too deep, taking tower shots or suicide in minions. Kill him or take the highest lead possible.

When he ganks another lane, follow and ruin his gank, or push and take the tower.

VS

Udyr

Medium
Top

Tiger Stance: DO NOT GET NEAR HIM AT LEVEL 1! Tiger Stance Udyr might be the best level one cheese champion and you might fuck your whole lane by fighting him. Just farm and wait level 2, try to get it before him to be able to out trade. Udyr is really strong at level 1-5, so try to farm except if you already took advantage.

Phoenix Stance: Same as Tiger, but a more safe way. He pushes really fast and can deal high amount of magic damage, but you win easily, just try to outpush and fight him when he wasted his stances.

Jungle

Udyr tends to not gank so much but farm a lot to be a really big threat later. Wait level 6 to attempt ganks/couterganks, anticipate because he has no ultimate and you does have a devastating one. So you don't really have to worry early game.

Anyways, in late game, does not approach him or work with your teammates. You can't really run away from an Udyr or 1v1 him.

VS

Urgot

Hard

Urgot is now a really difficult match-up for Wukong. If you even trose to him, he'll fling you over, and absolutely melt you. Try to just farm and avoid him, ask your jungler to come. when he gets 3071.png nobody can take on him 1 v 1 so just run away if he tries to kill you. blocking his dash and ult with your monkeykingdecoy.png helps to not get a guaranteed death.

VS

Vayne

Hard

A good Vayne might fuck you down. Her poke is endless, her damage is insane, and she has her Q and E to counter you, her E can be easily used when you E to throw you back and chase you since you don't have any more gap closer. Try to farm under tower and wait your jungler since ganks are her weakness, but you can win in case it is a bad Vayne player, anyways if you haven't got an advantage, you will lose the lane.

VS

Veigar

Easy

Easy because he can't defend himself except his E, which is is easy to dodge and he is weak and squishy so harass him every time it is possible. You can't really lose because his damage is bad early game.

Late Game if he isn't too far behind grab a magic resistance item to avoid getting one shot by him.

VS

Vel'Koz

Easy

Another poke mid laner, he is very squishy, harass him when he exposes himself to your range. By the way, dodge his spels and you'll easily win and farm. Kill him if he doesn't build armor or expose himself too much. You can also cancel his ult with yours, to prevent his damage.

If he is sieging and poking you to death, get magic resistance, otherwise, at close range, he can't do anyting.

VS

Vi

Medium

She is a very good duelist and deals really high damage output early game, so except if you got more kills, do not fight her. Her ganks are really good, but your level 6 should be better, so use your ult carefully. If you can make her ult your decoy, it's an easy win.

VS

Viktor

Medium

You can lose like you can win. Skill match-up.

Viktor damage is low early game, while yours is really high, so do not hesitate to harass him when you are in a good position. By the way, if he starts Q, you should try to not fight him because of the shield but if he starts E, you can easily dodge it or out damage it.
Be careful of his CC and burst and all is fine. If you got troubles, go 3155_32.png.

VS

Vladimir

Medium

Skill match-up. I suggest you to rush 3155_32.png if it goes bad.

His sustain is really endless for no mana, so it's really annoying for you. You should out damage him if everything goes good, but try to switch between freezing and harassing to be able to win the lane. Use your combo properly at the right time to win.

VS

Volibear

Hard

you can't kill, you can't outdamage, you can't do anything

but nobody plays him so we gucci

VS

Warwick

Medium

You can't really out damage him or duel him except if you got ignite at top, but don't forget that you can block his ult with your decoy. He doesn't gank much before level 6 so try to pressure before he does. Work with your team to take him out because his 1v1 sustain is insane.

VS

Wukong

Medium

monekyception

VS

Xerath

Easy

Classic safe and poke champion at mid lane, he is easy for you like others, because he is squishy and is easy to kill if he exposes himself. Dodge his spells and you are just very fine. Care about jungler gank, this is the only way for him to kill you unless you do something stupid.

VS

Xin Zhao

Hard

Just DO NOT get close to him except if you are ahead, he is one of the strongest early game junglers. He can outdamage you all day and make you run away just by being here.

VS

Yasuo

Medium

Skill based. He can stomp you like you can stomp him. Just farm until:

- He wastes Q on minions
- You destroyed his shield with an AA

Then, jump on him and you win. Your damages are closely the same so it is all played by skill. If you wanna win, dodge his tornado, and beware of having it cancelling your E or you will die. Beware of fighting him when he got lots of crits, he is a huge DPS threat while you are a caster/nuker.

VS

Yorick

Medium

Skill match-up, it's all about your trade timing and your ability to sponge damage with decoy. He deals a lot of damage so be careful.

VS

Zac

Easy

He is not very hard for you. You got higher damage output and can ruin his early easily where he's pretty squishy and does not bring a lot. monkeykingnimbus.png and monkeykingspintowin.png just destroy blobs.

Your ganks are better and your damage is better so follow him to stomp him.

VS

Zed

Easy
see zed, pick wukong. if you're not mid (who the fk still plays wuk top?) then ask for lane swap. then put this zed to shame by stomping him until ff15.

You are the best counter to Zed. When I first pick and don't ban Zed and he is picked against me, I pick Wukong and stomp him. You just can't lose. You stomp him from early to late. You have more damage and he can't do anything. At level 6, when he ults, decoy and run in another direction and then come back to destroy him. If you see Zed, pick Wukong mid and destroy him.

VS

Ziggs

Medium

I set Ziggs as a medium match-up because he is a poke champion that can be heavy to handle for you. You should dodge his spells and harass him at right moment to be able to win, if you don't, your HP will fall really fast and you will fall behind. Ziggs is like another poke champion: if he exposes himself, he becomes an easy kill so if he does, profit. Otherwise, this is about skill and you will need to play with his mana and spells to win.

VS

Zilean

Hard

He has everything to get you bored. Endless poke that you can't dodge, stun, push, speed boost, slow, revive... if you got to lane against him, play the most safe possible under your tower and take 3155_32.png. There's nothing you can really do against him so beware and just don't die.

However he is really squishy as fuck early, just don't get stunned.

VS

Zoe

Easy

go and try for a first blood at level 1 or 2, going super aggressive. avoid taking tower shots or going too deep tho. when she casts her zoeq.png to damage you or push the wave, try to dodge it since it's her only damage spell. she's super squishy through the early game. zoee.png her sleep can easily be tanked by your monkeykingdecoy.png, or by staying behind creeps. she doesn't have any escape as well so you can easily assassinate her at any point of the game if you catch her.

VS

Zyra

Medium

A poke-siege mid laner that we rarely see, but she's is very strong. Zyra got everything to annoy you but you both are on equal grounds, so this will be about skill. Dodge her Q and harass her. When she spawns attacking plants, don't get in their range until they finished, or destroy them if they are focusing your minions. When they are dead and she didn't got any defense anymore, harass her. When you do, also try to dodge her E to not get rooted, and you easily win the lane. Also, try to run or flash out when you are inside her ult, cause if you get knocked-up, she will destroy you.

Matchup Strategy Back to Top

EASY MATCH-UP

mXeZjq23S2ONQApf8GsxGw.png

VS

103.png84.png105.png150.png30.png38.png85.png99.png91.png161.png101.png238.png142.png

Starting Items: 1036.png2031.png/2033.png
Summoner Spells: 4.png14.png
Playstyle: Aggressive

Those match-ups can be easy first blood at level 2 with 14.png, and you should try to be aggressive. They can't out trade you unless you fuck up somewhere, like taking a tower shot or trading inside their minions. You then bsically win lane if you force them to back or kill them. Also you easily outscale them later if you have the lead, but some of them can turn the tide if they are at equal gold so be careful and do not take them easy unless you're massively stomping.

SKILL BASED/MEDIUM MATCH-UP

KZQOQJbpTbOI7p2BawoHwQ.png

VS
virtually every champion that isn't easy or hard

Starting Items: 1036.png2031.png/1054.png2003.png/2033.png
Summoner Spells: 4.png14.png/12.png
Playstyle: Depends

Read "Matchups" for each champion for specific strategies. Usually you'll want to play depending on the match-up and your opponent, if he's a beast at his champion or not. Analyze his playstyle during the first levels then make decisions.

HARD MATCH-UP

zwnkJ76OQAyzbB_4iLw0Sw.png

VS
268.png114.png86.png74.png90.png2.png516.png80.png58.png92.png17.png6.png106.png26.png

Starting Items: 1029.png2003.png/1054.png2003.png/1036.png2003.png
Summoner Spells: 4.png14.png/12.png
Playstyle: Safe

Your only goal here is to not die. That's just about it. Sit at tower and try to grab as much cs as you can. Even when jungler comes you have a low chance of killing them. Try to grab your important items from farming and then roam to kill their team and dominate them later on.

Early Game Back to Top

Level 1

At first levels, you should play differently depending on your opponent. If the match-up is at your advantage, you should engage him with monkeykingnimbus_64.png, and put some autos. Do not miss any first wave minion. If you are not advantaged, farm, and get level two before your opponent, to be able to win. If it is a skilled match-up, then you will need to play carefully depending on who you face. One mistake can cost you the entire lane, or game.
  • What about starting monkeykingdoubleattack_64.png over monkeykingnimbus_64.png ?
I always start monkeykingnimbus_64.png, for me, it's not debatable. Getting a lead on your lane opponent is the key to have a comfortable game with Wukong. However, this will push your first wave. You must keep an eye on the enemy minions and your lane opponent positioning to trade at the right moment and get a lead to dominate your lane.

Starting monkeykingdoubleattack_64.png is bad, but not in every match-up. If there is a melee champion you can't jump on early, start monkeykingdoubleattack_64.png and use it two times before level 2, that way you may be able to zone him a little before getting your monkeykingnimbus_64.png.

  • Should I use my monkeykingdecoy_64.png  every trade?
Do not use your monkeykingdecoy_64.png every time you go in, or your mana will just melt in two trades. Sometimes, it isn't very useful to do so, and taking some damage might be better than going out of mana or becoming vulnerable to ganking. It is a very bad situation because you will be forced to back, meaning losing gold, creeps, levels and lane.

  • When to go for a trade?

This is very important to your knowledge if you wanna get better in general.

As Wukong, ask yourself:
  • If the enemy minion wave is not so big and won't kill you,
  • If your opponent has longer cooldowns and can't fight back,
  • If you have enough mana ready for any situation, even the worst case,
  • If you know how much damage you and your opponent will take.
And a few other things. If you consider all of this, you will know how to trade at the right moment and be succesful, ending up in dominating your lane.

Middle Game Back to Top

After Early Game when you get your 3147.png and your 3117.png you should leave your lane and start roaming to help other lanes.

Wukong is at its peak during the mid game, his power spike is insanely high. This is your moment where he shines, so use it to roam everywhere and snowball. You should still keep a high farm per minute. You need to stay able to blow carries in one combo, use that at your advantage to get kills and objectives.

If you are the top laner, ask your jungler to gank as fast as possible before 20 minutes, so you can kill/zone your lane opponent to take the rift herald, which gives you a massive advantage as it guarantees a tower or two.

Fighting bot lane is very important because if you get kills you can end up rushing an objective like a dragon or a tower which gives you a huge advantage.

Don't forget that if you can't reach a fight, and your enemy laner went to it, you should push and at least take a tower on your lane to make it worth, and it's even better if your team won the fight.

Late Game Back to Top

Late Game the goal is to get Nashor control so you can force it after a won fight. Try to get control wards if you have slots in your build. Getting the control of top river, enemy jungle and baron is actually everything needed to win late. You should try to get a max vision. Your team needs to have a maximum of control on the map so you get an advantage, being able to zone opponents and flank them. If you got control wards, your enemies won't be able to ward the baron, meaning that when the lanes are all pushed, you got it for free.

So your goal for late game to win will be to ward everywhere with your 3363.png, or de-ward with3364.png if your team already has lots of vision. Also buy some 2055.png to get control. If you do, you will have a chance to get ahead.

To win late game you should think about skirmishes: When an enemy is out of positioning, far from his team in the jungle, you should trap him with your mates. One kill, then a 4v5 fight or baron call could make you win. Also you are an assassin so you can kill a squishy opponent roaming in the jungle alone in late game, but don't forget that he can be baiting you. If you get caught trying to scout their jungle alone watching for a kill, you will die and make your team lose because they can baron or force a 4v5. Never do that. Stay with your team every time in late game, even to place wards.

I can't tell you more about late game objectives, you could write an entire guide about that.

General Knowledge Back to Top

Warning: Wall of texts, but this is very recommended to know everything about Wukong; to become an expert mechanically.

62_64.png TIPS AND TRICKS 62_64.png

  • monkeykingnimbus.png>monkeykingdoubleattack.png or monkeykingdoubleattack.png>monkeykingnimbus.png? The true dilemma. monkeykingnimbus.png>monkeykingdoubleattack.png is a better combo in my opinion because it is faster and flashy, due to the fact that the increased attack speed from your monkeykingnimbus.png makes your monkeykingdoubleattack.png animation shorter, which feels cleaner. But the monkeykingdoubleattack.png>monkeykingnimbus.png combo can rather deal more damage ONLY if the target has a high amount of armor, if not this is pointless, because it will lose you time and the enemy might have time to react.
  • Activate your monkeykingnimbus.png during the animation of your monkeykingdoubleattack.png to do an animation cancelling. That will cancel your monkeykingdoubleattack.png and monkeykingnimbus.png animation and your opponent will still take the damage from both spells, this is hard but can prevent reactions.
  • Here is a mandatory trick to save you if you tower dive: When you chase an enemy under tower and when the tower focus you, use your monkeykingdecoy.png as the same time as the tower starts to focus you and the tower will cancel the focus and lock on the creeps or your decoy instead, but if you keep attacking your enemy you will get focused. This trick is so good because it can save you so much times when mastered.
  • WUKONG IS NOT A TANK
  • If you monkeykingdecoy.png during your monkeykingdoubleattack.png animation, before the damage is applied, your decoy will spawn but you won't be hidden. Never do this.
  • If you can assassinate without your monkeykingspintowin.png, do not use it.
  • Wukong is a type of glass cannon: whenever he goes in, he either ends up dying while taking a few lives, or just simply fail and die. The second situation happens when you hard engage a teamfight. no, never do this. Wukong's monkeykingspintowin.png is a semi-engage. Do not go first or you'll soak up all the focus and die in an instant. Read "Team Fighting" section for more.
  • When you chase an enemy during your monkeykingspintowin.png, go past them, do not click on them, or they won't take the full ultimate damage because you will always stay being behind them.
  • Don't be scared of using your monkeykingspintowin.png to chase or run away with the movement speed.
  • You can use emotes during your monkeykingspintowin.png for ultimate disrespect.
  • monkeykingspintowin.png only starts knocking-up after the first instance of damage at 0.5 seconds after the cast so do not wait to use it to escape.
  • Wukong is VERY vulnerable during his monkeykingspintowin.png since he can't cast abilities, auto attack or defend himself. Be sure to cancel it whenever you are in trouble since the damage it deals doesn't stand up to the risk taken.
  • Juking is what made 62.png hilarious and unique in the past times and years. Stop moving with S or H to make the enemy think this is your monkeykingdecoy.png, and you are the clone. But actually, as you play against better players, it gets harder to do. There is one important thing you should know: When you use your clone, your clone will stop suddenly, and when you want to juke with S/H, Wukong stops slowly and smoothly, so a good opponent can tell it. Juking only works against good opponents if you use bushes.
  • You can combine your monkeykingnimbus.png and your 4.png to do a fancy combo and add an extra 400 range to your E, which your enemy won't have time to react to, this is an hard trick.
  • If you use your 3074.png activation to the nearest wall from Gromp or the blue buff, they will be hit and revealed, so you can monkeykingnimbus.png on them, to farm them, to escape, or chase. Simple trick for good plays!
  • There's a fun bug which exists since a decade: When you cast your monkeykingnimbus.png near a turret that isn't attacking anything, it will attack your monkeykingnimbus.png clone just after it disappears. monkeykingnimbus.png coded as minion.
  • Baron now knock you back when you monkeykingnimbus.png him. To counter this, walk away right after you used your E on him to not be unable to move for a second.
  • Animation cancelling is also important on Wukong and separates the great Wukong players from the bad ones. 3074.pnghelps you a lot with that.
  • You are able to solo the Rift Herald with Wukong. Use your decoy and then run behind him and attack his eye for big damage.

Lane Swapping Back to Top

62_64.png is good at both top and mid. But we all know that he has many weaknesses that make his early difficult against some champions. If you encounter a bad match-up that your other solo lane mate can hold, and if you can also hold or counter his lane opponent, you can go for the lane swapping. If you know you will struggle, it is better to swap at start before you get behind.

You should consider lane swapping against these bullies at top lane:
80_64.png122.png58.png92_64.png86_64.png2_64.png6.png
And also, there are also some skilled match-ups at mid that can be unforgiving if you lose, like:
134_64.png61_64.png7_64.png157_64.png90.png103.png268.png

But don't forget that if your teammate won't do well against your lane opponent if you swap, don't do it. It's better to just stay on your lane, farm and wait for your jungler to help you, while letting your mid/top laner at a comfortable state.

Strengths & Weaknesses Back to Top

Strengths

  • Devastating crowd-control ultimate
  • Stealth
  • Strong snowball
  • Powerful at dueling
  • Jukes!
  • Can be very play maker
  • Higher than average melee range
  • Deals massive AOE and single target damage

Weaknesses (lies)

  • Shut down by massive CC
  • No inner sustain
  • Can't do much against organized teams/good peeling
  • Has an hard time if he falls too far behind
  • No real escape
  • Has a really bad time in lane in some match-ups
  • Can't do much against extreme amounts of armor and health

Team Fighting Back to Top

You must understand something about team fighting with Wukong : You are not a tank, you are not the one that should force the engage. Wukong's monkeykingspintowin_64.png is a semi-engage. The can be used as an hard engage if :

  • You got a possible hard combo
  • You can sponge a lot of damage without dying instantly
  • Your team is really far ahead
You should team fight as a stealth assassin, no matter what is your build. Wukong has enough burst to take down an enemy carry really fast. Wukong's also got a very strong stealth engage that make it very easier to catch a carry off guard and kill him before he/his team can react.

There is some inconvenient. If you can't kill the enemy carry, his team will surely be able to take you down in a short time, and also because you won't have your stealth up to run away, so you must count on your team or your ultimate's speed boost to survive and come back again to pick up more kills.

You must wait at the right moment to go stealth and get to their off guard back-line. If you already have an assassin in your team, always follow him when he goes in, and use your ultimate to make sure the enemy back-line don't escape.

Teamfight combo (engage)

monkeykingdecoy_64.png>>monkeykingdoubleattack_64.png>>monkeykingnimbus_64.png>>monkeykingspintowin_64.png

But this is also a very slow combo, your enemy will surely have the time to react.

Teamfight combo (assassin)

monkeykingdecoy_64.png>>monkeykingnimbus_64.png>>monkeykingdoubleattack_64.png>>monkeykingspintowin_64.png

This combo won't let the enemy team react before you even end the combo.

Your role in team fighting

When you are fed
  • Assassinate enemy carries
  • Do not peel
  • Don't be afraid to engage

You got a slight or even extreme advantage on the enemy team ? You should have enough damage to assassinate enemy carries and even their whole team. If your team is also very ahead don't be afraid to engage by yourself. You will be able to take down someone instantly and you won't die because your team will follow and the enemy team is unfed.
You don't really need to peel for your carries when you are extremely ahead, your support is here for that in these situations, you should profit of your burst to rape the team fight.

When the game is balanced or when everyone is full build
  • Try to assassinate enemy carries
  • Peel if needed
  • Do not engage
If the game is balanced, then you will really need to adapt depending on the enemy team composition and yours. If your team composition is really better late game or you got a combo then you should force the engage on enemy carries and kill them.
If the enemy team team composition is better late game then you will need to focus the enemy carries when they are off guard and are not concentrated on you. Do not engage or you will most of the time instantly dies. Also, if the enemy team is really focusing your ADC hard, you must just do everything to protect him, because the ADC is the biggest damage source of the game in late game, and if he survives, he will kill everyone. Try to knock-up everyone who comes close him. If the peeling is enough, you can focus the enemy carries yourself.

When you are behind
  • Do not engage
  • Peel for your back-line
  • Do not try to run into enemy back-line
Trying to engage when you are behind in gold compared to others is just a suicide. You will just be a knock-up machine that will die after the engage. Let the others or the enemy team do it. If you are very behind and can't assassinate anybody, just stay defensive and defend your back-line from focus. Let's say only your ADC and maybe your AP are the only one fed. You better defend them and try to keep them alive in return of dying yourself, because if they are always surviving, they will be able to kill the whole enemy team.
Do not try to go deep into the enemy back-line except if you already destroyed the front-line with your team.

When to Pick Back to Top

As you know, Wukong is actually not a god tier but a viable champion that can fits many combos. But also, it is not a champion who can be picked every time because of his hard match-ups.
You should pick Wukong in situations:
  • Your team is already tanky
  • Your team lacks an engage
  • Your team lacks damage
  • Your team lacks AD
  • Your team has enough CC
  • The enemy team doesn't have tons of CC and can't lock you down
  • The enemy team isn't tanky as hell and won't stack too much armor
  • Your match-up is skill based or easy
Some of these problems can really ruin Wukong if you pick him at a bad moment. Do not pick him every time and look out how both teams are looking. Unless you're a shitty one trick like me and pick him every game lol

Synergies

Wukong's ultimate, monkeykingspintowin_64.png, is a powerful engage-CC-damage tool, dealing a big load of damage while knocking up everyone in your path. This ultimate allow many combos or good synergy with others champions.

These are the champions which can combine their ultimate with Wukong's to get a devastating combo:

Also, champions with high AOE damage can melt the entire team while you have them knocked up:

Don't forget that a combo or an hard CC engage like Wukong's ultimate can be easily disengaged by a CC or knock-back so don't think twice before engaging if there is a good peeling on the other team. Look out for champs like:

Also, these synergies not 100% guaranteed to work. If the enemy team has the lead or one of your mates is really behind in the game, these combos could have a weak result and you will still lose the fight.

Hey ! I'm Godlike Wukong, Diamond main Wukong. I am considered as one of the best Wukong ever, but I find this a little too much lol

Why I've actually made a in-depth guide about Wukong? It's because Wukong is my main since I started the game in season 1, just before his release. I started and bought him first because he looked nice. Then, I've discovered the champion, and absolutely loved his gameplay... back in that time Wukong was considered weak and underwhelming. But I disagreed, I keep carrying games with him. I don't care about meta slaving. I play what I wanna play.

I have 4k+ games with Wukong since 2011, a lot of experience that is. A lot of plays and fun that will be remembered, even if the monkey gets a rework.

That's how I've chosen to share you my Wukong experience that made me climb the ranking ladder.

Thanks for reading.
