VS

Ahri

Medium

Windwall the E and you should be able to dominate in lane

VS

Akali

Hard

Very difficult match up, play passively and a gank can tip this in your favour

VS

Anivia

Medium

Windwall the stun and try to wait for her wall to be on cooldown before trades

VS

Annie

Easy

If you can assert lane dominance due to her being extremely squishy pre level 6 you should be able to kill her

VS

Aurelion Sol

Medium

VS

Azir

Medium

A good azir is difficult due to the sheer range so I would avoid this matchup and if forced to play it, play very passive and only farm with your Q if at all possible as his poke is insane. I like to try and E past the first soldiers he puts down and auto attack azir as before he has Q at level 1 he can't do anything to trade with this and at the very least you will be able to make him use his potions.

VS

Brand

Hard

Anticipate and windwall for the stun he will likely deplete his mana trying to poke you and then you can go for the kill, stay far away as the constant burn will keep your shield down

VS

Cassiopeia

Hard

Read brand tips and swap burn for poison

VS

Cho'Gath

Medium

Should be alright in this match up as if they build tanky you can get through with your armor pen, as long as you can dodge the knock up it will be hard for chogath to trade that well with you.

VS

Darius

Hard

VS

Diana

Easy

Dodge or windwall her Q, fairly easy as slow, constantly trade as her mana pool will eventually tip in your favour.

VS

Ekko

Yasuo Combo's Back to Top

157.pngYasuo Combo's

-QE
Poke and Dash

-EQ
Dash and Q does AOE damage around you instead of in a straight line

-EQE
Laning phase combo used to dash in pokoe and dash out

-QEQ
Gap closing damage onto a target and to get the tornado

-QQQ(RQ)
Stack up the Q and the third Q will throw out the tornado which if it knocks up an opponent you can Last Breath (R)
towards them and once you have statik shiv should be able to get a Q off before the Ult ends

-EQ(Third stack Q)
Will dash and make the tornado around you at the end of the dash - still knocks up.

Tips and Mechanics Back to Top

Tips and Mechanics

  • Try to constantly move as not only will it make you harder to hit but will generate flow and make sure you have your shield as much as possible.

  • Try to stack E's on minions and then EQ in for trades to output more damage. The third E you cast will grant 50% bonus damage and every E after this will keep this damage increase until you dont E anything for 2.5 seconds.

  • Pick a minion in each wave to be your 'escape minion' and E all of them but that one so that if you need to get out you at least have that escape option without having to think about it.

  • Try to anticipate skill shots for example if you aren't behind minions as anticipating skill shots will make your reaction time significantly faster to throw down your windwall and block it. I tend to just constantly assume the enemy is going to try so hit me (if they are ranged or have a skill shot of course) and improved drastically with the windwall since this.

  • Every 3rd Q you throw out a tornado which is great poke as well as minion clear however a lot of people just throw it out as soon as they get it, a good technique I use with this is to hold it for a few seconds and hold down Q so you have the range indicator (something i forget about due to smart cast) and I tend to hit my opponent with it more.

  • I have three tips for Yasuo's ultimate, firstly once you have bought some attack speed you should be able to Q during the time that the enemy is suspended in mid air however a more invaluable technique is if you knock-up an enemy try to wait till they are dropping for the last moment they are in mid air and the R as it will then re-suspend them in the air and render them immobilized for a lot longer, its a bit tricky but is something that you can learn with practice, if you can do this successfully you output a really significant amount more damage and are more likely to guarantee the kill or kills.

  • Windwall grants vision and it is possible to E to and from either Wraith camp in Mid lane as well as to Gromp and Krugs, however to do it fluidly in a game is quite hard as you need to know the exact points Yasuo will actually clear the wall and they can be messed up quite easily, I highly recommend trying them in a Bot game. Obviously if windwall is on cool down this can be done with a ward as well.

  • Always try to buy an extra ward if you have the gold during your backs and I would prioritize upgrading your trinket at around level 9 as it is seriously so beneficial to you and the team, it is not only the jungler and supports role to ward. On blue side i tend to ward on the right hand side at the end of the wall as it grants an extra second or two of vision compared to if it were in the bush or on the left in the brush in the lake and aim to buy a pink or stealth ward to put in the lake brush after my first or second back to ensure both sides are covered however this is not specific to Yasuo.

  • In laning phase to output the maximum amount of damage I would walk up past the minion line and then E back to your minions, then E back out and make the third E dash onto the champion as this increases E's damage by 50% and will ensure you trade as efficiently as possible, you should also try to Q as you walk away unless you use another minion to dash to safety, this is an effective strategy as its such a quick maneuver that its somewhat difficult for some players to trade with you.
