Summoner Spells Back to Top

Fairly standard for junglers. Pretty self explanatory.

You could try out others but these are my preferred ones.
4.png helps to reposition yourself, get after someone who's escaping, or get out of a "sticky" situation.
11.png is an absolute must as a jungler. Without it you can't get jungler items, and your clear speed will be heavily reduced.

Masteries Back to Top

TBH, this set up is for pure offensive fun, and it's amazing to see someone get blown up almost instantly when you land zacE.png Elastic Slingshot on them.

But in a more serious setting or if your team lacks a full devoted tank (other than support due to lack of sufficient gold for multitudes of tank items), 6/6/18 would be preferable due to the increased sustain, and extra tankiness that Strength of the Ages provides.
Personally recommend Runic Affinity with the extra buff duration from neutral monsters. Assassin only works when there are no teammates nearby, with defies the point of a gank, and Secret Stash doesn't do much either, due to the amazing continued sustain that Zac has.

Ability Max Priority R -> E -> W -> Q.

You max E first in order to maximize your gank potential through the range increase and the cooldown decrease when you level it.
I tend to max Q second due to the cooldown decrease that it gives, although minor, and the boost to the slow.
Lately I have been trending towards maxing W second for the extra damage and clear speed you'd get, especially if you go with the off-tank build.

After some testing with maxing W second, I can see potential extra damage that it gives you due to the potential frequency of picking up blobs in a teamfight. I'd say, at this point in time, you can put a few points into W, before maxing Q, depending on the number of tanks on the enemy team, as maxing W doesn't really give you extra burst or possible stickiness to squishies.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

Standard Jungle start. Could go 3x Health Potions instead, but Zac really doesn't need potion sustain in the jungle. Use the potions before/during ganks rather in clears due to his high sustainability.
My personal start. I start this to get some early vision on the map and to be aware of potential invades. I'm generally able to sustain through the early game by using the passive smartly.

Core Items

General purpose boots for more damage. Most games you'll get this, and you'd want it around your first or second item.
A great item for Zac, due to the CDR, the MR, and the MR reduction aura that it has. Amplifies your own damage, whilst making you tankier against magic damage. Don't build if enemy team lacks magic damage.
Rush this if you're so far ahead, that you can afford to get this without dying often in fights. Again, you have very high base damage, so the magic penetration is very useful.
Rush this if the enemy AD champs are getting fed and doing a lot of damage to you.
If your team has another full devoted tank and/or lacks magic damage, then it's generally safe enough to take Runic Echoes. But if you don't, Cinderhulk's the better option.
General Full Build When Ahead And Snowballing This'll generally be enough damage to oneshot backlines, yet remain fairly tanky to duel with the enemy tanks.
Alternate Choices This is for when the enemy is far ahead of your team or you're still dying too quickly in the middle of fights
My current preferred build. Let's you be the frontline, yet also dive the backline, and kill whoever you land on, whether it be the carries or the tanks.

Situational Items

Sub in whatever you feel would be useful in the game you're playing. You could switch out Runeglaive in the lategame because you already have so much AP that you kill the entire camp with 1 spell rotation. I almost never get these items though.
Swap Sorcerer's for either depending on enemy team if they are far ahead.
If your team is really, really lacking or needing a tank, then these are the most viable options to be building.
Pretty popular choice. Good for extra bits of burst along with the ability to reposition yourself in the middle of a fight. If you're building this, get it right after Jungle item.

As AP Zac, you're essentially building as an AP tank, but with more emphasis on the AP part. You get AP items that also grant you some sort of tanky stat like 3001.png and 3157.png

VS

Fiora

Hard

As your engage is fairly telegraphed as soon as you start flying out, Fiora can easily see where you will land and react accordingly with a Riposte fiorariposte.png (W) in the direction you'd land at.

VS

Gragas

Hard

Lots of AoE damage, a giant displacement ult that will knock you around, and really tanky. His kit does really wel against you.

VS

Lee Sin

Hard

Outduels you, clears faster, very high mobility makes Lee Sin a hard target for you to get.

VS

Poppy

Hard

Steadfast Presence poppyparagonofdemacia.png (W) just completely shuts down whatever attempt at an engage you could try. You only have a single engage tool and it just stops you cold. Incredibly difficult to gank and teamfight against while the W is still up.

Author's Comments Back to Top

Currently a massive Work In Progress.

Not really the most knowledgeable about matchups. Nunu is the one I know that generally screws you over.
You can check them out some of the AP Zac jungle games I've played here.
Comment whatever you'd like to see or hear about in comments. Would appreciate feedback on what's still needed. Changes will be infrequent sadly, due to my preoccupation with other things in my life.
