Summoner Spells Back to Top

4.png Flash is just way too strong to pass up right now. Added with the Rappel utility Elise becomes a utility beast. Gg.

11.pngAlways take Smite. Boop. Not only helps with clear time but helps secure and steal buffs and objectives. Also paired with spell vamp gives quite a decent heal (around 150) which can save your life in sticky situations.

I have never gotten a different set of summoners in a ranked game but you could consider 3.png for the added gank potential, 14.png if your laners didn't have it already, or 6.png if you were scared you were going to get kited and were building quite tanky.

6 x attack speed reds for clear and red buff application
3 x hybrid pen reds for extra damage, alot of her damage comes from auto attacks so physical pen is good

9 X Armor because who are we kidding, every jungler except maybe fiddlesticks should get Armor yellows.

6 X Mr/lvl 3 X Flat MR because then you wont be too squishy early and get insta gibbed when you gank a magic damage lane, but ensures you can still scale into late with some extra magic resist.

3 x Hyprid Pen Quintessence, extra damage, scales extremely well on Elise

Level q first because new jungle is all about killing the big creep. More damage at lvl 1 means less time getting leashed, more times for your laners to get to lane and less time youre taking damage

After that, max Q just because is damage (particularly against champions) is just too insane to pass up. Q paired with magic penetration makes for some crazy damage.

Get E at level 3 if you see a gank oppurtunity, if not just max Q and get it at 4. Pretty generic skill leveling for jungle. Level ult when you can because the extra spiderling is OP.

Not much to say here.

Q: Basic Damage nuke in both forms, try to cast Human form when the target has as much health as possible and spider form is the opposite. For example for most damage you want to human form Q a blue buff then smite it then spider form Q for most damage.

W: In human form this is a basic aoe nuke, it will go to the cursor and then target the nearest enemy.
In spider form it just increases you and your spiders attack speed and heals you for each time you and your spiders  attack

E: In human form this is a skillshot stun and it only hits one target. Very effective for initiation if you can hit it. Try to always initiate with this spell if you can as you want to spend your majority of a fight in spider form
In spider form this is your main utility spell. You can dodge Fizz ulties, you can dodge vlad ulties. This can be used to initiate but i almost NEVER use this to initiate because this is your escape and aggro reset spell. When you first press E you will go up in the air and then if you cast it again on an enemy or monster you will come down on them. This applies to any unit that is not an ally including enemy wards.

R: Change between spider and human. You want to spend most of your time in fights in spider form because your spiderlings do an insane amount of unnoticed damage. You gain extra defensive stats while in this form so if you are karthus ultid or have a dot on you and you think you might die then switch to spider.

The perfect combo on an enemy champion is to start in Human form, Q them, W them, Stun them with e, then change to spider and Q and activate W and proceed to auto attack them and Q whenever it's off cooldown. If an enemy flashes away on low healht you can cast e on them and you will get taken to them. You are very hard to escape due to this, but just be careful you don't get yourself into something you can't handle because once you use E to chase you have no escape left.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

All purpose item. Doesn't excel in anything but builds into your golem and leaves you with 100 percent when coming out of the jungle. Basic starting item for all junglers except fiddle.
    HP, marvelous.
Starting dorans puts a lot of dependance on making something happen in the early stages (Levels 1-5) which is completely fine but progressively harder in higher elo's due to generally safer play. It slows down the build quite alot if you can't make something happen but if you can then it's a great choice. Personal preference really, try it out!
Grab this if you want to invade/are focusing on Jungling and counterjungling
Buy this if you are looking to put more pressure on lanes than farming. Great for making laners scared of you

Core Items

Go these after your golem if you are ahead. Golem is now your core first item due to its gp5 extra
After your three damage items (Golem, guise, sorcs) i love to rush this item because it seems to make me so much tankier and builds into Rylais. Love this item
Golem is almost 100 percent now. I believe it's the best Jungle item when vsing any CC because it allows you to buy Sorc shoes instead of merc treads. The passive gives alot of gold (Normally more than wraith)
Not as core as it used to be because of the increased gold to supports allowing them to purchase this. If your support is building AP and not this then feel free to buy it.

Situational Items

Rylai's is an amazing item on Elise. The health prevents you from being too squishy but the slow effect and extra AP turn Elise into a killing machine. I generally get this after Sorc + Guise if i'm doing well.
A great item if the enemy team is AD Heavy and full of Auto attackers. I would only go this before Frozen heart if the enemy team has kite potential and you are the sole tank on your team.
Amazing item on Elise. If the enemy team has 2 or more AD champions go this after your Rylais generally.
Great item on Elise after your armor item(s). Rush this item (perhaps even before rylais) if the enemy team has 3 ap's. If the enemy team has 2 ad's 2 ap's i generally prefer to get armor first because of the reduced damage from baron/towers etc. Get this after rylais + armor item generally.
If the enemy team is extremely balanced in their damage and has no Health shred such as Liandrys, Blade of the Ruined King or Kog maw then this is a great item for pure tank. I don't build this item very often because of the health from Rylais but it can be okay as a late/last item.
I personally do not reccomend this item. Even though the magic pen scales with this item well i just dont find myself always near alot of enemies and don't see it as synergising well with Elise's kit. I find she gets alot more from randuins/Frozen Heart.
Great when the enemy team has alot of MR. Always get a few defensive items before this (i barely ever have long enough games to afford this) but you will see a huge spike in your damage if they have built alot of MR. If you are not dying in team fights opt for this.
I think Homeguard is way too OP to pass up right now. I would not however buy it early seeing as how Elise has no movespeed bonus like Udyr or Rammus to stack with it but i always buy this later in the game. Alacrity is alright but you wont be getting kited with Rylais anyway.
This item is EXTREMELY dependant on the game. Sometimes i get it 4th, sometimes i get it last, sometimes not at all. It depends on the enemies. If they are Non bursty tank champions like Shen top nautilus jungle you can opt to go for this after rylais, but if they are bursty/tanky such as xin zhao you want to get it as your last upgrade. If they are bursty but not healthy you might not want to get it at all, and switch out haunting guise for a force staff or defensive item :)

Items are where Elise really starts to shine.

Start with hunters machete 5 pots because you're jungle and that's what junglers do. It provides insane clear time and sustain advantages and there's not many alternatives. You could start machete + 2 pots + ward if you think you are going to get invaded/want to invade and ward their red or blue but that's not really my play style. Up to you though.

When I get back I generally look for boots + spirit stone but If I get back with >1100 I generally get sorc boots because of the insane boost of damage and the added movement speed.

Basically you want to rush the Haunting Guise + Sorc boot mpen item pair as early as possible because of the insane damage spike it gives you. If you are really getting boned you can swap your sorcs out for a ninja tabi or merc treads but seeing as how those are the only 2 true mpen items in the game they are hard to pass up.

My general build against a mixed damage team

Machete > Spirit stone + Boots > Sorcerers shoes + Guise > Spectral wraith if i'm not too squishy > Rylais > Frozen Heart > Abyssal > Liandrys > sell spectral wraith > Randuins/Warmogs

End build : Sorcerers shoes, Liandrys, Rylais, Frozen Heart, Abyssal, Randuins/Warmogs

VS

Alistar

Easy

Easy game, easy life.

VS

Amumu

Easy

You can easily 1v1 this champion. Despite this, i would not invade just because he is so tanky and rips through the camps. You have much higher gank and countergank potential than the little mummy early so try to use it because late game no one beats this guy for team utility and damage. Get your team an early lead and gg.

VS

Cho'Gath

Easy

This guys silence is annoying. Do not invade this guy unless you have it warded. He has insane clear sustain and can heal off your spideys. Just outgank him early and you outscale him late unless he gets fed so it should be okay.

VS

Dr. Mundo

Easy

You shart on this guy early. Your percent health damage absoloutely wrecks him and his sustain in jungle now is so low that he is one of the only champions i could reccomend invading. Your ganks are so much stronger in most cases and you can 1v1 him if you play it right because he can't hit cleavers through spideys and is easily kiteable. Make sure to beat him early.

VS

Evelynn

Hard

Really strong atm. Her ganks are undectable without pinks, she can't 1v1 you unless she's fed but late game she's really strong and she can countergank easily. watch out for her

If she starts ignite get your support to pink ward the entrance to the buff you didn't start because she will try to kill you at it.

VS

Fiddlesticks

Easy

Invade him. Invade invade invade. He is so squishy and you have a hard cc for his drain. Just be aware that his drain still hits you when you are rappeled. Consider going ancient golem against this guy because his fear is lethal. His ganks pre 6 are weak and if you countergank him it's almost an assured kill. Awareness and predicting where he'll be is key to this matchup.

VS

Hecarim

Easy

MMMMM. Pony is much weaker as of new patch. You can destroy him in 1v1's unless something has gone really wrong in the game. You are free to counterjungle if you have lane support. You can countergank easily and you scale better/equal to him

VS

Jarvan IV

Medium

Ugh. J4. The nerfs hit him quite hard but he is still really strong. His early game pressure is close to if not beats yours and late game his team fight is equal to yours aswell. If he snowballs he can win a game singlehandedly so again try to countergank him and apply more pressure early. You can beat him in a 1v1 if you play it right. Jarvans like to gank mid so staying around mid can be a good idea in this matchup.

VS

Jax

Easy

His clear time is quite fast but his ganks are quite lackluster (even though his counterganks are strong). Do not try to 1v1 him but if you have to just try to rappel when he dodges and you should be fine. When he starts to dodge press e and when it's over press e again and gg. His dragon solo potential is extremely high (Even more so if he gets BORK) so keep it warded. Outpressure him early.

VS

Lee Sin

Medium

He cannot hit you with Q because of spideys. I reccomend starting blue and having the entrance to your red warded because Lee sin's like to invade. You can probably 1v1 him unless he somehow hits his q's. Late game you absoloutely shrek him in 1v1's and Team fights so if you keep up with his pressure early you have played well.

Good Lee sin's don't fall off due to his utility, but you scale better.

VS

Malphite

Easy

You are this guys hard counter. His pre 6 ganks are dogshit so the only grace he has in this matchup is his godlike late game. Just outpressure and get a few kills on him early and it will be an easy game. His sustain in jungle is good but he clears at a snails pace.

Outpressure, outpressure, outpressure. After his first two buffs you should be able to secure the rest of them because of his poor control.

VS

Maokai

Easy

Tanky tree and cc monster. He is alot weaker in season 3 and he is forced to build supporty. I personally believe that your late game is better than his and you can beat him in all 1v1's and your ganks are equal strength. Hard to kill but if you can counterjungle, countergank, and put more pressure on lanes this is an assured win.

VS

Master Yi

Medium

Pretty average. Single target is strong but he's so squishy you outscale him if focused and you can normally 1v1 him if you play it right. Don't feed him.

VS

Nasus

Medium

This champ is fucking stupid. The only way you can have more of an impact on the game than Nasus is ganks and couterganks. He will hurt late game unless he messed up really bad but you're one of the champs who can scale similarly to him. Don't countergank him after levels 1-5

VS

Nautilus

Medium

Watch and laugh as this guy tries to hit you with his anchor through spideys. This guy is an insanely strong ganker but his 1v1 potential is really low and he is easily invadeable. Try to pressure his jungle early because if he snowballs his late game disruption is extremely annoying. Quite hard to kill. Tell your team that if they don't die to him and ward properly he is useless late.

VS

Nocturne

Medium

Quite strong. After he is 6 stay near your lane that is pushed because you can almost always forsee him ulting if you think about it. If you are sitting in a bush when he ults in it sets you up for a perfect coutergank. Don't invade him early as he can 1v1 you early and his clear time and sustain is top tier. Late game if he builds tanky and damage he is quite a beast. Try to get an advantage early.

VS

Nunu

Medium

Not played much anymore. You outscale him 10 fold so make it to the late game and gg. Start by warding the entrances to your jungle and kill him if he comes to try and invade.

VS

Rammus

Easy

His buff/dragon control are his worst assets. He ganks well, and he ganks alot. You can easily 1v1 him so use this to your advantage and invade him as much as possible. Consider going ancient golem if he's taunting you alot because that shit is long. Late game you can out-teamfight him if your adc positions well. Consider purely peeling for your ad if no one else is doing it because if your ad gets taunted and doesnt have cleanse or mercurial well, he's fucked.

VS

Sejuani

Easy

At the moment she's a really low tier jungle but i'll write some more about her when i see her remake. Her ganks pre 6 suck, her 1v1 sucks, and her teamfights late are sub-par unless your team groups. You can outperform her in most areas quite easily. Just make not sure to feed her because fat pig hurts

VS

Shaco

Easy

He's so weak now. If you see one of your lanes pushing and you think he'll gank it go there and if you are there when he ganks he's fucked because this guy is so squishy. Late game his team fight is pretty average so just don't feed him early and he's nothing. if you countergank one of his level 3 ganks and take his double buffs the game is basically yours.

VS

Shyvana

Easy

I don't actually see much Shyvana jungle but the only thing she has over you is clear time. You can 1v1 her later in the game and your team fight potential is much stronger late. With rylais you can infinite kite her, just don't let her snowball early.

VS

Skarner

Easy

His ganks pre 6 are useless and his clear time/sustain is pretty average. Put alot of pressure pre 6 and get your team the early advantage. You can easily 1v1 him at all stages of the game and your team fights are stronger.

VS

Trundle

Easy

You beat him at all stages in the game at the moment.

VS

Udyr

Medium

Ugh. His new buffs made him really strong. His countergank is insane and he's hard to kite and nearly impossible to beat 1v1 if he plays it right. Just try to gank more efficiently and late game his team fights aren't as strong unless he's fed. Do not invade an Udyr.

VS

Vi

Medium

Countergank her. If she uses her Q to initiate and then you appear she's fucked. Her clear time is quite quick and her ganks are quite strong but not as strong as yours until 6. She's weak in team fights unless she gets fed. Vi's like to build squishy early so try to burst her when you can. You can normally 1v1 her.

VS

Volibear

Medium

Ugh. Bear is so hard to kill especially late his ganks are quite strong but unlike yours can be stopped with wards. If you make sure your team wards and doesn't die to him he can be quite useless late if he's not fed. Be very very careful of his Frenzy (bite) burst early as it can do up to 1/3 of your health. Your late game is equal to his.

VS

Warwick

Easy

His pre 6 ganks are horrible and if you don't feed him he is useless. Be careful for his dragon and baron solo'ing.

But if you do feed him.

You.

Are.

Fucked.

VS

Xin Zhao

Medium

Suprisingly annoying. not played much anymore but still quite strong. You outscale him entirely so if you don't let him get too far ahead you should be fine. Don't try to invade him

VS

Zac

Medium

Boingy. Invade this guy, his 1v1 is absoloutely horrible but ALWAYS be mindful of his passive and don't get baited by it. His mid game is absoloutely amazing and his team fight and initiation is beast but late game he starts to fall off due to his lack of damage. Your ganks are alot stronger throughout the game so utilise that and apply alot of pressure. He has no escape besides his ult if he W's in.

Introduction Back to Top

Just finished updating as of patch 3.10, Elise is still really strong

Hey, i'm Nv Cpt Wobbles a Challenger Oceania jungler and Diamond I North America Jungler from New Zealand. I play for Australian team Nv and I have been playing since beta and I have played over 150 games with Elise and have been extremely successful with her in Diamond/challenger. This guide is mainly to do with Elise but toward the lower section there are a few general jungle tips on Baron/Buff control and when to push lanes. Elise is my favourite champion and i hope that you guys learn something from reading my guide! Feel free to ask any questions and give me some feedback on the guide, i'm happy to reply to any queries.

Enjoy!

:D

Jungle clearing ETC Back to Top

I generally start the buff that is closest to bot to ensure that i get a smiteless leash. If i have a top that can smiteless such as Zed, Xin Zhao, or Riven i sometimes start the top buff if i want to level 3 gank bot. I generally always do Wolves/Wraiths > Buff > Other Buff > Gank.

The biggest part of jungling is knowing where to gank. If you get both buffs but all of your lanes are pushing do not try to force a gank, just keep farming. For example, if you see that all your lanes are pushed you can level q a second time at level 3, but this is nearly never the case.

If all of your lanes are pushed, there is a high chance that  the enemy jungle will gank so you can go and situate yourself near that lane to countergank. Perfect coutergank positions are in bushes and behind walls so that you're close but not seeable.

To kill camps you want to Q the big monster, cast your W in human form, and then switch to Spider and W then Q the big monster. You should always be able to finish the camp with your first transition to spider form because of your insane damage from Spiderlings.

To initiate a gank, the ideal start is to land a stun. If you can initiate with a stun, then W+Q > Spider form and burst them it's almost an assured kill. But, in some cases, especially when they have warded, this is not possible. In that case, you want to switch to spider form, E onto someone, Q them, and then change to human form and try and get your stun off on them. At this point, it's up to your laner, because your sustained damage in Human form is minimal.

Diving is extremely easy with Elise. If you are going to dive, make sure to take the tower aggro first because you have Rappel which can switch the tower off of you. What i generally like to do is burst them in human, switch to spider, tank the tower till about half health, and then rappel up and quickly back down to let my allies tank the tower.

This works especially well when you have a 2v1 top lane (lane switch). If your 2v1 pushes to their tower early you can dive the enemy solo champion with ease with this diving technique.

My thoughts on Elise in the Meta. Back to Top

Elise is an extremely powerful pick especially because she is an AP jungler which are few and far between.

Great utility + alot of damage + ap = wat
I think Elise jungle is extremely strong because of her ability to adapt to different types of games.

Sustain: 8/10
Clear time: 7/10
1v1 Potential: 8/10
Teamfight: 6/10
Late game: 8/10
Item options: 9/10

Elise is my favourite, and most played champion. She is also one of my highest win rates, and i have a 70 percent win rate with her with nearly a 100 games at Diamond.

Feel free to ask any questions below or add me on Snx Grumpy Cat and ask me questions in game! Thanks for reading i hope you can own some solo que with my Elise guide :)

I am happy to add any matchups or thoughts on items builds etc :)

*Feel free to ask anything!*

Gank Path after your second buff. Back to Top

m9gu1mz.jpg
Here is a picture of the most efficient path (in my opinion) to approach a gank after you have gotten your second buff. These paths provide the enemy laner with the least possible time to react if they have warded and are often much more rewarding then going straight to the lane for example through river to top is much less effective than through their jungle.

After you gank, whether you fail or suceed, you have to decide where you're going from there.

Failed a gank top: After i fail a gank top i look at mid, if it's gankable i go straight there, and if it's not i go to wolves or golems and continue farming.

Failed a gank mid: Depending on which side of mid i ganked, i go to wolves/gank top or wraiths/gank bot etc.

Failed a gank bot: Go to golems/gank mid or go to wolves/gank mid depending on which side you are.

When to Baron/Dragon Back to Top

This section is dedicated to when it is a smart idea to Dragon/Baron and when it is smart to push a lane after a gank.

When to dragon: There are many times that dragon is a good idea.
1: When it's not warded. If you can get away with sneaking drag even by yourself or get one of your laners to slip away then a free drag will help your team immensely. Always make sure that there are no wards on the drag by pink warding it.
2: When you've just killed or forced their bot or mid to back. If you have just done this to their top or mid this is a good time to force a drag. 9/10 times you will win a 4v3 fight at drag even if you are behind. The only reason you would not want to do this is if their jungler is near and you are not confident in your smiting ability. Personally i believe the chances of an enemy jungler smite stealing dragon from me is quite low because of Elise's spider form Q burst, but it's up to you. The worst thing you can do is take a chance when you're not yet confident in your smite and then have the dragon stolen. Trust your instincts.
3: When your top has roamed down and theirs hasn't/your top has teleport or shen ulti up. This can turn out extremely well, if you have a shen ulti or teleport up top and their top doesn't you can bait the enemy into fighting 4v4 and then have your top turn the tides and hopefully get a few kills and a drag at the ending of it. This can be a huge turning point in a game if you can pull it off.

When to Baron: This is basically the same as the reasons to dragon, except much later and more extreme circumstances. For example, i personally hate rushing barons unless a significant majority of their team is dead. I only do baron when 3 of them are dead OR we have a SIGNIFICANT advantage over the enemy team. Even though the chance of a steal is low, there is still no reason to risk it seeing as how baron can make/break games.

A good technique sometimes if you are in a 4v5 situation is to start the baron, making the enemy team think youre doing it and then quickly engage on them before you've taken too much damage from the Baron.

ALWAYS have the baron pink warded before attempting it unless you are in extreme advantage over the enemies. Try to have wards

In an ideal case this is where to have the dragon or baron warded for maximum security, but not necessary:

baron.jpg

Baiting Baron Back to Top

If you have complete vision of baron and they have none (you have cleared it with oracles or pinks) and they have no means of checking it such as clairvoyance or Ashe's hawkshot you can bait the baron and ambush the enemy team when they come to check it:
sk0Qs9v.jpg

1: The most common place for baiting against a purple team, this is the most likely way they will check Baron coming from their base.

2: The most common place to bait against a blue team, as this is generally the way they will check baron from their base.

3: If you put a ward where the number three is and hide behind the wall just to the right of the three is you can ambush them when they walk past and they wont see you. Use this ambush path if the blue team are coming from their top lane from some reason

4: If the enemies go to drag it is a perfect time to bait baron because whilst they are doing it if they have no vision they will think "Oh fuck, are they doing baron?" and run straight to it through this bush, to their deaths. This works for either team but only if they are coming from drag/mid

5: If purple team is coming from their top lane or blue team has just been pushing top this is a good place to bait.

When to push your laners lane Back to Top

This is what generally causes the most controversy in games, as laners often shout "Don't push my lane you fucking noob" and v spam like there's no tomorrow.

After a kill: The ONLY reason you should ever NOT push a lane after killing their laner is if your laner is still in a position to freeze the lane. This means that after you kill their laner the opponents minions are still pushing towards your tower. The reason you don't want to push it in this scenario is that the enemies minions will kill yours and make the opponent laner miss out on alot of gold and exp. If the wave is pushing towards the enemy tower then you should push it as hard as possible to get your minions to die to their tower.

After your laner is killed: If somehow your laner dies in a gank and theirs doesn't you want to let the opponent laner push it towards your tower. Your laner is already fucked enough, so you want them to get as many of those tasty minions as possible. If your laner dies and theirs doesn't NEVER push it otherwise your laner is fucked.

Both laners die: In this situation i always shove the lane as hard as possible, just like when your laner survives.

Pushing to your opponents tower often forces the enemy jungler to come to that lane to get the minions because a whole wave is actually worht a significant amount of exp and gold. If you kill the enemy laner and make them miss out on 1-2 waves you have gimped them extremely hard.

My opinion on taking kills and buffs as Elise Back to Top

Although it's up to you and your playstyle, i thought i'd share my opinion on leaving kills for laners. I almost never leave kills for laners unless it is a GUARANTEED kill. By guaranteed i mean they have no health and you KNOW they have no summoners/escapes avaiable. I lost too many kills by trying to give unnasured kills to laners. Elise is extremely strong when fed and it's not worth the risk.

Buffs: I almost always take second blue. The way i see it is Junglers are a global presence, and if you benefit from blue equally or more than a mid laner then you should take it, because you are all over the map. By taking blue you are effectively (through lack of better explanation) giving blue to all the lanes through your empowered ganks. Red, i generally take second/third unless i already have rylais for the same reason as blue.

That's it, hope you enjoyed the guide! Feel free to leave any questions or suggestions so i can improve the guide.
