Summoner Spells Back to Top

You can run exhaust or ghost for this. My personal choice is exhaust for the early game ganking power.

Ghost would be if your style is to chase someone down. Or also good for the lategame backdooring if that's how you're playing him.

Runes Back to Top

  • 9x
+1.7% attack speed Greater Mark of Attack Speed
  • 9x
+1 armor Greater Seal of Armor
  • 9x
+0.7 armor Greater Glyph of Armor
  • 3x
+2.25 attack damage Greater Quintessence of Attack Damage

This is my preferred setup for jungle Yi. I like to run full armor because the S3 jungle is stronger and you never know if you will get reliable Alpha procs or if your team will be generous with the leash. You could run MR/level glyphs for lategame too. Personal choice I suppose.

Utility: 0

I put 11 points into offense to grab the 4% CDR as this is amazing to have for the early game to alpha strike the jungle camps as often as possible. I only feel the need for 2 points in attack speed as I am getting 15% through runes already. AD per level is a must so you can grab the armor pen mastery.

As for the defense tree, they are pretty self explanatory. You grab the smite mastery for the bonus gold, I put 1 point into HP regen just for more jungle sustain, 4 points into HP for the durability, 2 points into monster damage reduction because the new jungle hits hard. You don't have to put all 3 points into Hardiness, I just choose to for more durability in the jungle. The 1 point in bladed armor is optional, in fact when you get more comfortable in the new jungle I would advise you to not use it to avoid accidental blue steals from your own team. I grab the flat health and 4% increased health just because I like being durable in the early jungle.

You could potentially just go 9 points in defense to go more points in offense if that's your style. The monster damage reduction, smite bonus gold and HP per level would be the bare minimum.

As for the 3 points in utility, I grab the increased move-speed for faster travel time between camps and to lanes for ganking. It's helpful but not at all a necessity. There's a lot of flexibility in the new masteries, these are more of an outline.

Q first is a must, because when you actually do get alpha procs they are amazing in the first clear.

You can choose to max Q or E first, putting points into ult every time you can. I personally like maxing E first just for the better fighting power against champions and the higher AD against the jungle creeps. You could go Q for the higher proc chance. I would avoid maxing meditate first as AD Yi unless you are having serious issues surviving between camps. But that's what health potions are for!

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

Start with hunters machete and 5 health pots. Hunters Machete is awesome for the early jungle clearing and the Health Pots help with sustain.

Core Items

These items are must haves. Upgrade your machete into wriggles and then grab an Avarice blade for more gold in the jungle as you get 2 gold per kill. You can then choose to go black cleaver or SotD. The order doesn't matter all that much, but definitely get both.

Situational Items

These items are all really nice on yi. Basically pick any of these into the lategame. IE with SotD is a really strong combo. Statikk Shiv is really nice if you're doing the split pushing. Ex Calling is good against champions like mundo as the healing debuff is now a passive on every hit. Selling wriggles to get BT would be good for lategame power. Frozen mallet good for the perma slow, chase power and durability. LW is only if BC is somehow not enough armor pen.
3172_64.png This is a viable item if you need the tenacity.

3139_64.png This is a viable item if the enemy team has a Skarner, Warwick or an Amumu. Or other hard CC that would prevent you from dunking.

3254_64.png The boot enchantment you go for should be a situational choice. If you're not sure which to grab, the flat 15 move-speed is good in all situations.

3074_64.png This could potentionally be good on Yi, but I haven't personally tried it yet.

3153_64.png This can be used instead of a Bloodthirster for lategame against high HP targets.

I don't usually bother will full on defense items like Warmogs or Guardian Angel. Maw would be okay on yi if you need the MR I guess, but I don't usually bother with it. I prefer going full on MAN MODE Yi. Kill them before they kill you!

General info! Back to Top

Hey everyone reading this! There's no real "opening" part on LoLking guides so I'm throwing this part here. This is my first guide ever, and it's for one of the champions that's been my favorite since season 1, but lost a lot of love during season 2. I feel like season 3 can see the comeback of the original DUNKMASTER.

I've been doing a lot of toying around with it since I was sitting in the bathroom and had an epiphany about how strong Sword of the Divine would be combined with Yi's ult and E. Turns out it's extremely powerful. Pop ult with E and SotD and you can 3 shot the AD carry or AP carry or pretty much anyone whos not tanky on the enemy team. 2 kills grants you a reset on SotD, and 1 kill gives all your spells a refresh which lets you keep going with this combo til you're OOM! The only rough part is that if the enemy has a lot of hard CC and uses it all on you, well, you die. But that's true for any assassin style character who builds to kill before he (or she) is killed. But even then there are options to avoid/lower the amount of CC you take so you can dunk those guys into next week.

So I hope you enjoyed the read and can harness the power of the Wuju Style for your own benefit!

Author's note: I intentionally didn't fill in the matchups section, as when jungling the matchups almost always comes down to personal skill against the other jungler. It also has a lot to do with how good your team is at reacting to the enemy invading you. ^.^
