Summoner Spells Back to Top

11.png is a must for junglers and you should feel bad for not taking it. You need it for objectives control such as Dragon/baron and also to smite your buffs blue/red.

For the second summoner its a personnal preference.

I prefer ignite over flash, but both are good :

14.png is for more agressive playstyle. The way I play evelyn I always take ignite. I like to invade their red at the start and being agressive so I need the ignite to kill the jungler if I see him. (See in the sections below for more explanation about the "invade strategy"

Pros: Agressive (You can almost 1v1 every jungler in the game early on in their jungle with ignite. I suggest not trying to fight Lee sin, xin and aatrox)

Cons : Teamfights (It's harder to position yourself and its harder for a good engage)

4.png is also very good all-around summoner spell, but it is based on a more passive playstyle and Teamfights.
          Pros : Teamfights

Cons : Early game (Can remove the snowball effect sometimes)

3.png is weak with evelyn. With your ult the target is already slowed by A LOT and you don't need an exhaust. Do no take it.

6.png is also bad because you do not need the extra movement speed. You already have your W which is like a Ghost but also removes slows. So its an improved ghost.

The must have:

(These runes below are what almost every experienced evelyn jungle take). I will talk about about the variations you can do, but for the Marks/quints/seals it should be the same for every evelyn jungler. Only Glyphs can be situational for evelyn.

Marks :
As weird as it seems, AD marks are the best marks for evelyn jungle. You clear your jungle a lot faster and evelyn's early game is very important. Also with AD marks you do more damage to champions early game. So it's a more focused early game if you take AD marks. Magic pen marks can be fine for mid/late game, but it doesn't help you with your jungle at all early game. So I find AD being way better and have more impact in your game. That's what many pros plays evelyn with AD marks instead of magic pen marks (example : Diamondprox from Gambit Gaming)

Seals :
Armor. As a jungler you need to have armor seals to survive your jungle and also don't die when you gank for being too quishy. Also evelyn is known for being squishy.

Quints :

AP quints are the way to go because you don't need more AD. You needed the extra AD boosts to clear your jungle early, but you are a AP champion afterall. AP quints are awesome for early game and still great for mid game.

You also don't need Movement speed quint with evelyn, if you do take these your ganks will lack on damage. Also, your W gives you movement speed when you gank and when you move from camp to camp. Getting the movement speed quints is just overkill.

Situational Runes:

Glyphs depends on 2 things: Your playstyle and the other team comp.

You have 3 choices : (none are bad , it just depends on a lot of factors)

1. The super agressive style based on early game:

If this is your style of play and you like to really snowball early in the game.

8x Flat ability power ( Greater glyph of Ability Power)

2. The Agressive style that scales late game:

Same as the other playstyle, but with a slight variation. You take the Scaling instead of the flat.
You will indeed have more AP late game and less early game. It's also a good choice.

8x Ability power scaling (Greater glyph of Scaling Ability power)

3. The passive Teamfight evelyn

Usually you play with Flash and you want not to be very squishy late game and want to flash/ult engage and do plays around the teamfights. Doesn't mean you can't be agressive with evelyn with this set up. If you they have a very heavy MR team, you should take these runes. This is what I take most of the team since its a more "safe" pick.

It is known for junglers that its always better to mix the Scaling and the Flat Magic resist. So here is my setup :

5 x Scaling MR (Greater Glyph of Scaling Magic Resist)
4x Flat MR ( Greater glyph of Magic Resist)

Utility: 0

21-9-0 is the ONLY way to play evelyn. If you want to win games with evelyn, you can't go 9-21-0. You are a carry jungler and based around early/mid game.

Theres is slight variations of the masteries with evelyn. But the most common one is this one. You can also go with a mix of AD/AP masteries ad skip the Veteran's Scars in defence and get Bladed armor and Safeguard. Which is Fine, but I prefer the AP masteries more than the mix between AD and AP.
Both Works, so if you want the AD/AP mix you can do it.

I would say 90% of the evelyn junglers pay it this way, but I used to play it with the AD/AP mix which worked very well for me. But since you have already the AD marks, I don't feel like going with the mix is the best choice.

So I recommand using these masteries set-up.

NOTE: If you notice there is no point in Summoner's wrath, so if you plan on playing evelyn with Ignite I strongly recommand you of getting it. What you should remove? You should remove 1 point in Sorcery and get it.

Take Q first and max it first because its your main ability that you will spam to clear your jungle and also to apply red buffs on ganks.

E is Great for burst potential that its I max it second. Great for farming and great for the ganks.

W you take it last. You can also get a second point in W at level 8, and then max it at the end. Why? because you can get a extra movement speed that can help for ganks. It's not necesary but some players do that. So feel free to try it, but Do not max W instead of E. Just take a second point at level 8 if you want to, but do not max it.

R: when you can get it (level 6, level 11, level 16). Why? well its your ultimate and also your best ability.

So basicly the only change you can do , is at level 8 taking a second point in W instead of E. And that's about it.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

    Only Viable starting Items

Core Items

    Rush this item
    First Big item
    Core Build
    Late game Defensive item

Situational Items

Can take instead of mobility boots
Starting item:

Machette/ 5 pots, every single game.

First recall:

Ok this depends on how many gold you have. Let's see the options:

1. You recall with 500 gold :
You should get spirit stone (400gold) and few pots to substain your jungle. It's important that you still get 1-2 health pots when you recall, because if you don't you will have to recal way early than you should be for the second recall.

2. You recall with 1100gold :

You rush Mobility boots or sorcerer's shoes right away (with few hp pots) and you skip spirit stone. You will get spirit stone in the next recall. Why? Because yes spirit stones helps but not as much as mobility boots. You will travel around the map So much faster and be there to countergank really easily.

When should I take sorcerer's shoes? I take these if you don't have to travel around the map that much and have enough money to buy it. Let's say you recall with 1000gold, you have enough for mobility but not for socerer's shoes. I would take mobility boots in that case. So it depends on your money and on what is happening in the game.

Mid game :

You rush your spirit of the lezard as soon as possible once you get your boots. Spirit of the lizard is a MUST have on evelyn, its probably the only item you can't argue on with evelyn. Don't get Ancient golem on evelyn, you do not need tankyness , you will get your tankyness from Zhonia and GA later on in the game. But for your early game you need damage ASAP.

Once you have your spirit of the Elder lizard. The next item depends on how much gold you have.

If I recall and I have 1600 gold, I will get Needlessly large rod, and then get Haunting Guise and then finish my DFG ( Deathfire Grasp) with the needlessly large rod I bought earlier.

If you recall and you have 800 gold or something. Just focus on getting your Haunting Guise ASAP.

So basicly you want : Haunting Guise and Deathfire Grasp in your build.

Why these items? Because when you get these 2 items you can 1v1 the adc from the ennemy's team. You have that much burst. And the playstyle is to sneak up in teamfighhts and once shot someone from behind or from the side of the fight. If you want the highest burst potentional on evelyn , get these 2 items.

Late game :

You want your Zhonia. So after engage or 1 shotting someone if they decided to turn on you, you can zhonia and be safe for a while and W out.

Guardian Angel in the late game to get the tankyness and the second life. Zhonia and GA is always a great mix together. Sometimes the ennemy's team give up on focusing you since you have so many ways to be alive : your W, your zhonia, your GA and the shield you get from Ulting.

Situational Items:

I rarely take these, unless I really have to. But I guess its more a matter of presence. But if you go haunting guise/dfg/zhonia/Ga, I don't take you have any flaws no matter what the other team comp is.

Maybe Abyssal can be great if they are really heavy on AP.
Rabaddon if you are way ahead and don,t need tankyness at all and want to Skip Zhonia
Rylai if you want the extra slow and more tankyness. Some players take it, but I hate it I don't think it's that good on evelyn.

VS

Aatrox

Medium

Don't try to fight this guy early game, with his passive he will laugh at you. Try to avoid him as much as possible.

Also, his lifesteal is to much for you to handle.

But he can't kill you either. If he catch you off guard try to W after he lands his slow on you

VS

Amumu

Easy

I think amumu is one of the easiest jungler to abuse early game. You should invade his red level 2. Start at your blue and get to his red and just take is red and get out (yes you have time). If you feel cocky you can try and wait for him and kill him.

It's a amumu so it shouldn't be hard to kill. If you don't kill him he will flash out with low hp and recall, this is the worst case scenario.

Just don,t get caught by the top/mid if they come to you. But with experience they shouldn't catch you

VS

Cho'Gath

Medium

It's an easy and at the same time hard matchup. Because late game you will do nothing to him.

But early game you can try and abuse him, but its risky. If you want to try you must dodge his Q. But Chogath can easily be countergank at early/mid stage.

VS

Dr. Mundo

Easy

Without his level 6 , he has NOTHING on you. He's a joke.

When he gets leve 6, and you don't play evelyn with ignite, stay away from him. But he can't kill you, unless you are trying to fight him.

If you try to escape from him , don't waste your W. Try to dodge his Axes and when he lands one, press W, so it cancels the slow from his axe and you get the momvent speed to get away.

If you try to W to early and he slows you after with his Q, you can be in trouble.

VS

Elise

Hard

One of the hardest matchup against evelyn.

DO NOT try to fight her. if you don't dodge her stun you are screwed and even if you do, doesn't mean you will get out alive.

VS

Fiddlesticks

Easy

Don't fight him early game, he will suprise you with his 10000 seconds fear.

But he shouldn't cause you problem at all

VS

Hecarim

Easy

He can't fight you and you can't really fight him either.

If you are about to kill him he will just E out with his speed boost or ult out. It's near impossible to kill him, but he can't really kill you too.

So don't be afraid and try to counterjungle him if you want

VS

Jarvan IV

Hard

If you play evelyn with ignite, Late game he can ult you and there is no way out. So watch out for that.

Avoid j4 if possible or fight him early if you have ignite, if not avoid him

VS

Lee Sin

Medium

Early game : He's one of the hardest matchup. He can outdps him by a mile. Don't even try to fight him.

Late game : You do more CC than him in team fights and you are more usefull. And most of the time you can even 1v1 him late game. Unless he builds pure damage.

VS

Nautilus

Easy

Abuse him before level 6. If you are ahead of him at level 6, well he can't do anything against you. If he is a bit ahead, just don't fight him and you should be fine.

In teamfights, don't go in first against a nautilus because he will just ult you and you will insta die.

VS

Shyvana

Easy

Don't fight a shyvana, she is so strong at the moment.

But at the same time, there is no way she can catch a evelyn. Even with her exhaust up.

VS

Skarner

Easy

Very easy matchup.

Just don't let him ult you in teamfights and you should be okay

VS

Trundle

Easy

He can't get to you. Easy matchup

VS

Vi

Medium

Evelyn weakness is CC and VI has few. So if you try to fight her , she can CC you down enough so that her team comes to help her.

In team fights its the same as nautilus. if you go too soon, she will ult you and you will die rather quickly when their team focus you down.

VS

Warwick

Easy

You should out gank him early game and you will snowball harder than him.

It's just a very easy matchup for you

VS

Xin Zhao

Hard

Early game he will outdps you no matter what.

Don't countergank him, and don,t try to fight him if you invade him (which I don't recommend).

You should do better than him in teamfights in late game though.

VS

Zac

Easy

If you see him ganking a lane, try to countergank it, he doesn't do enough damage to be able to survive a countergank

The Invade Red strategy with Ignite Back to Top

This is a strategy I do against almost all junglers. I only avoid to do that against Lee sin/j4/aatrox.

If you want to do this I suggest taking ignite, since if the jungler trys to fight, he will die because you have ignite and he will have flash.

1. You start at your blue (ask for a smiteless)

2. You go to their red.

- Scenario 1 : You take their red in the bush and you get out and their jungler didn't get there in time to stop you. (60-70% of the the time). 90% of the time in lower elos.

- Scenario 2 : You start doing it and you see their jungler coming. You stop doing it and get out of the bush and you wait in the bush under the red. Not the bush right next to it but under it. You wait about 3 second and you go back in.

Almost 100% of the time he will be doing his red buff inside the bush in case you come back. Which is smart but at the same time, it doesn't matter because he will be easier for you to kill. You will try to smite his red and kill him with your ignite.

If he doesn't die, he will flash out and will recall. If he tries to fight you , he will die. So the best case scenario for him is to outsmite you on his red and flash out.

- Scenario 3 : You wait for him in the bush and wait him to start his red and try to fight him. This is more risky and if you are afraid for top/mid to collapse to you, try to just steal his red instead of waiting for him. In lower elos , this works really really tho. Specially if they get amumu, I recommend this strongly.

Note : if you get kill by their mid/top or mid/bot lane coming to you, it means you did something wrong or you didn,t look at the map. But trust me, it should almost never happen in SoloQ since people don't want to leave their lane to miss CS. Try it and you will see.

Junling Path Back to Top

BLUE SIDE PATH (Starting blue)

-Usually you want to start to your blue (smiteless)

- Go straight to your red and smite it.

- Do your wraiths

GANK : gank mid , if its a waste of time and you know you have no kill or flash potential there, skip the gank. I usually skip it unless its an easy gank.

- Wolves

- Golems (with smite) (recall there , or do wraiths first)

- Wraiths (Gank top if possible)

GANK : mid , if not possible, recall.

NOTE : Don't gank bot lane till level 6. If you try to gank botlane before level 6 and it doesn't work, you will get extremly behind. Only gank if its extremly push and you know you can get a kill.

BLUE SIDE PATH 2 : (starting red)

If you want to do this path, that means you want to gank top level 3. If your top lane as good CC you can try doing that. Or you can try the Inave red Strategy mentionned above and gank top right after (which almost always work)

PURPLE SIDE PATH  (Always and always start blue on this side)

Why always start blue on this side? Because staring red will get you 0 advantage. You won't get a leash from botlane AND you won't be able to do the level 3 gank top.

- Start blue (smiteless)

- Go red (smite it)

GANK: Top. Almost always go for the gank, unless your top pushed to hard, which is rare.

- Wraiths (Gank mid ? if not possible continue your route)

- Wolves

- Golems : Recall after golems

About Me Back to Top

I main jungle and Evelyn has been my main since a while. A while back when I was not playing evelyn I was about mid gold elo (at the start of season 3). And then I discovered evelyn. I played her and my elo started to climb up and I couldn't understand how I could lose with this champion. I got fed almost every game using the Invade red strategy with ignite. Few months later, I got diamond by mostly paying Evelyn. She is my best champion to carry.

The way I play her is a *meteos playstyle*. People that say that evelyn is only good early game are wrong. If you get about 100 cs at 15mins you will see that she is not only good early game.

Try to farm as much as possible early game before you get level 6, your ganks are still great before 6 , but try not to waste time. You can like do 4 ganks before level 6, if you can get kills, its fine. But don't waste time, avoid staying more than 10secs for a gank. Usually when I gank, I never wait I just go in. You can do that with evelyn since they can't see you coming (unless they are pinked of course).

My Favorite Jungler : Diamondprox
My best Champion : Evelyn
Main position : Jungle
