Summoner Spells Back to Top

11.png  Smite is obviously a requirement on pretty much every jungler, but it has very good synergy with Elise because of the execute nature of her Q in spider form. If you can time your Smite->Q well, it makes it very hard for other champions to compete with your buff control, with the exception of maybe 64_64.png but his Q animation is much slower.

4.png Flash is a great tool for initiating, chasing, and escaping. As Elise, you can flash to close the distance for a stun or to jump on someone with your Q in spiderform for an execute. Also, if you repel and spam flash when you are about to come down. You will land where the flash would have put you instead of closer to the enemy.

  • 4x
+0.9 Armor Penetration / +0.62 Magic Penetration Greater Mark of Hybrid Penetration
  • 3x
+1.79 Armor Penetration / +1.4 Magic Penetration Greater Quintessence of Hybrid Penetration

Greater Seal of Armor: The best seal in the game. It will allow you to stay alive in the jungle much longer and is the most beneficial late game.

Greater Glyph of Magic Resist: This is my preferred choice as Elise jungle. Reason I like this over scaling is Elise is very good at ganking Mid Lane. As such you will most likely take some magic damage from the enemy AP carry (assuming it's AP mid) and you do not want to have a countergank kill you because you are taking to much damage.

Marks: For this I will go into a little bit of detail. As Elise, You will be auto attacking a lot during ganks and when clearing jungle. Also, Elise's W in spider form allows you to get an attack speed buff and you heal (X) health (depending on level in W). So I like to mix Attack Speed marks and Hybrid Penetration marks to what I believe to be the best mix.

Greater Quintessence of Hybrid Penetration: As I stated before in the Mark description, you will be auto attacking lot during ganks and clearing jungle. Hybrid Penetration really allows you to do the most damage when using all your spells and auto attacking a lot.

The reason for opting to go with such an offensive mastery tree is because it ties into the way in which I play Elise - I like not only being very aggressive with her but also building her very aggressively. She has very high burst damage, especially in the early-mid game and my masteries take full advantage of that.

Some people might argue that you could take the "Dangerous Game"  mastery in the offense tree because of the early skirmishes that Elise likes to take but I found the other starts to be more useful for me.

Initially you want to take your W when clearing your first camp. The reason for this is because of the synergy it has with 1039_32.png allowing you to have the maximum DPS (Damage Per Second) on the first buff that you tackle at 1:55.

However even with the great synergy it has with the On Hit Effect of Machete.. you won't want to skill your W again until you have maxed your Q.

The Q is one of Elises signature abilities and also one of the reasons she is such a great jungler, because it has % scaling - it means it is relatively good early game but scales very well into late game.

When attacking a jungle camp your skill rotation is as follows:

Human Form (Q) -> Human Form (W) -> Human Form (Auto) -> Change Spider Form -> Spider Form (W) -> Spider Form (Q)

You want to use your Human Form Q to start your damage (based off of CURRENT HP) and then using your spider form Q as late as possible because it works like an execute on MISSING HP.

The Q gives you amazing buff control which pretty much no other jungler with the exception of 64_64.png can compete with.

Also realise how strong your E (cacoon) is - it has pretty considerable range and can be an amazing follow up crowd control or way to initiate a fight by just throwing them out. I honestly think a 2 second stun is a little bit broken! :)

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

    Hunters Machete, 5x Health Pot

Core Items

    Man Mode, You will die.
A little tanky plus damage build.

Situational Items

Very typical starting items, as with most Junglers you benefit immensely from starting out with a Hunters Machete as it builds into the most cost effective items for junglers.

This is the typical build order that you will go:

1039_32.png -> 1080_32.png -> 1001_32.png ->3207_32.png -> 3136_32.png->3020_32.png ->3151_32.png or 3135_32.png

After that it is leans into the more situational items. For example you might want to pick up a 3102_32.pngif you are against a double AP and very susceptible to being bursted down or want to avoid being initiated on by stuns/grabs/snares etc.

I love going lots of spell pen on Elise because of her high base damages, in the majority of my games I will avoid defensive items and opt for out playing my opponents positionally because of Elise's relatively good mobility in team fights/skirmishes with repel.

As the game progresses, make sure you switch your trinket to 3341_32.png (Sweeper) as this allows you to make more plays around the map as a jungler and is key in controlling the vision of the enemy team as it opens up gank paths.

VS

Amumu

Easy

You can easily kill Amumu if he tries to counter jungle you. You should try to set up ganks instead of counter jungling because your ganks are better than his.

VS

Dr. Mundo

Easy

You should try to counter jungle him early.  He get's wrecked by early game camps due to little sustain and you can chunk him down and force him to back.

VS

Evelynn

Medium

She is very annoying to deal with. A good thing to note is she will either camp mid or bot. So get your support to pink ward and just camp mid lane to try to counter gank.

VS

Fiddlesticks

Easy

Just counterjungle him. He cant really do anything because you can stop his drain with your stun and kill him in most situations.

VS

Jarvan IV

Medium

Despite the nerfs, Jarvan is a very good duelist in the jungle and is highly mobile. You need to dodge his Q+E combo if you find yourself in a duel with him. If you do this, you should win.

VS

Lee Sin

Medium

He's the only jungler that can win in a smite war.  It's also very hard for him to hit you with a Q if you are running in spider form thanks to your spiderlings. If you are dueling and he misses his Q, you can win the fight.

VS

Nunu

Medium

You outscale him and you have better ganks. The only thing is that he will have free reign over your jungle because of his consume and speed.

VS

Vi

Medium

Try to set up counterganks. If Vi uses her Q, then she loses her escape and she is relatively squishy early game. So just jump on her if she uses her Q when ganking.

VS

Xin Zhao

Medium

A very strong duelist. Try to avoid him and gank a lot.

VS

Zac

Medium

He has a lot of sustain and good ganks. However, one thing you should remember is you can stop his elastic slingshot with your cocoon. Use this to your advantage.

Elise against other Junglers Back to Top

Elise is by far considered to be one of the strongest junglers in the game and has been for quite a few patch's. The reason for this is because not only does she provide great skirmishing abilities early game but she scales well into late game due to her % damage, coupled with the utility provided by her Cocoon.

She will outshine most junglers early game but might run into some trouble when facing against the likes of:

 102_64.png - 2_64.png - 64_64.png

These junglers specifically have good early game skirmishing - but one thing to realize is how relatively squishy they are in skirmishes. If you land a good Cocoon in an early 2v2 skirmish - you can turn around and burst one of these.. this is especially true for 2_64.png or even 254_64.png.

Ganking Back to Top

Elise is one of the strongest gankers in the game, pre level 6.

She has the following strengths:

2 seconds stun, Gap Close with Repel, Gap Close with Q (in Spider)

There are several ways to gank with Elise, here are a few for you to try:

Cocoon (E) from the Brush on an unsuspecting enemy.

Run into the lane using the ability order I listed for taking down buffs the same way onto a champion, wait until he flashes then cocoon / repel onto him.

Run into lane, repel straight onto enemy champion and start damage him until he flashes and then cocoon.

--

If you get good at these gank methods, Elise becomes quite the monster in the early game.. so much mobility / early game strength!

EG VS DTG Game 3

About Me Back to Top

Hey, I'm Stephen "EG.Snoopeh" Ellis! The Tarzan of the Jungle and captain of the Evil Geniuses League of Legends squad.

I've been in the League of Legends competitive scene for almost 3 years now and ever since I picked up jungling at a competitive level I was very fond of the supportive role junglers, typically those which weren't very gold dependent and could still have a large impact on the game.. allowing me to pass off resources to other team mates who are more item dependent.

I was one of the players that revolutionized this play style of jungling and made it popular in the scene, it ultimately was "the way to jungle" in Season 2 until the meta changed, and that style got nerfed.
