No choice here, take flash and smite. 


Flash: You need this all the time. I often use it for early ganks when I know the enemy has no flash. Activate your E, walk into lane, flash + Q onto them to guarantee you get the stun. Otherwise you can save it for escaping if needed.

Smite: No brainer Jungle spell.

This is what I'm running right now but if I'm honest, it's just because its a 2nd account and doesn't have many runes, these are what I had. You can run pretty much any combination of AD, AS, Movespeed and Hybrid pen on your marks and quints. 


Yellows I suggest just taking armour for easier clear and jungle sustain.

Blues I think scaling MR is best on all junglers unless going like Shaco crazy ham CDR or some shit, but generally, scaling MR is top for jungling. 

Edit: Just realised with buffs to AS quints, it's better to go AD marks with AS quints since the buff.

21-9-0 or pick another jungler. You want to kill people. You want them to die. Go 21-9-0.


I'm not an expert on masteries. This set works for me, but maybe there is a more efficient setup for 21-9-0. Who knows, who cares, each point is worth a few gold. This page works fine but feel free to tweak it to your preference.

You start with E to block some dmg from first buff and stun it to avoid a bit more damage. With E you can do first buff without using a potion if you got some help.


Max W because damage is king and W does damage. Use it on your jungle clear to speed it up, the mana cost is cheap. 

Max Q next because damage. Also it lowers the cooldown. Don't get upset if you max E 2nd, it's about as strong. I just prefer Q because mana cost doesn't increase with level.

Situational

I can pretty much suggest this build every game. 


3047_32.png or 3111_32.png is pretty dependent on the situation. Lots of mages? Get mercs. Lots of CC, get mercs. If not, get tabi. 

You can build 3057_32.png before 3044_32.png if you back with 1200g but not enough to complete 3044_32.png. It leaves you squishy in early/midgame but it has much stronger stats than 1028_32.png + 1036_32.png.

3146_32.png Can be bought over botrk if the enemy are all pretty low hp.

I say after wriggles , and maybe after tier 2 boots, rush a bilgewater cutlass. AD + Life steal is great for extra sustain (since you are not getting a spirit item). Also it helps you chase someone if they flash or dash your Q.

If that works better for you then go for it. I have found through many games with him that Triforce is the most important damage item for him and after that my priority is to get tanky. With on-hit lifesteal of flare you have some sustain but I would rather have a giant's belt than a vamp sceptre any day.

With the 4.6 slowdown to Feral Flare it just might be worth it to build a Vamp sceptre if you want the lifesteal, but the tankyness and chase potential from Phage is too good on Jax (HP+AD+Ult Armor). I like the idea of going tanky first, as rushing the Phage is still the optimal build path for TriForce. After that you only need like 2380 gold to finish triforce. MAYYBE build a giant's belt if you need some more tankyness early.

Been meaning to pick up jungles lately and I love the idea of this build. thanks for the guide!
