Summoner Spells Back to Top

No choice here, take flash and smite.

Flash: You need this all the time. I often use it for early ganks when I know the enemy has no flash. Activate your E, walk into lane, flash + Q onto them to guarantee you get the stun. Otherwise you can save it for escaping if needed.

Smite: No brainer Jungle spell.

This is what I'm running right now but if I'm honest, it's just because its a 2nd account and doesn't have many runes, these are what I had. You can run pretty much any combination of AD, AS, Movespeed and Hybrid pen on your marks and quints.

Yellows I suggest just taking armour for easier clear and jungle sustain.

Blues I think scaling MR is best on all junglers unless going like Shaco crazy ham CDR or some shit, but generally, scaling MR is top for jungling.

Edit: Just realised with buffs to AS quints, it's better to go AD marks with AS quints since the buff.

21-9-0 or pick another jungler. You want to kill people. You want them to die. Go 21-9-0.

I'm not an expert on masteries. This set works for me, but maybe there is a more efficient setup for 21-9-0. Who knows, who cares, each point is worth a few gold. This page works fine but feel free to tweak it to your preference.

You start with E to block some dmg from first buff and stun it to avoid a bit more damage. With E you can do first buff without using a potion if you got some help.

Max W because damage is king and W does damage. Use it on your jungle clear to speed it up, the mana cost is cheap.

Max Q next because damage. Also it lowers the cooldown. Don't get upset if you max E 2nd, it's about as strong. I just prefer Q because mana cost doesn't increase with level.

Items Back to Top

Starting Items

    Get the jungle clear
    Get a ward

Core Items

    Make your investment
    Get your boots
    Get triforce in this order
    Get tanky
    Get invincible
Get more damage because f*** your health bar

Situational Items

You can get this instead of Botrk
You can replace boots with this as last item

I can pretty much suggest this build every game.

3047_32.png or 3111_32.png is pretty dependent on the situation. Lots of mages? Get mercs. Lots of CC, get mercs. If not, get tabi.

You can build 3057_32.png before 3044_32.png if you back with 1200g but not enough to complete 3044_32.png. It leaves you squishy in early/midgame but it has much stronger stats than 1028_32.png + 1036_32.png.

3146_32.png Can be bought over botrk if the enemy are all pretty low hp.

How to play. Back to Top

Jax jungle is all about outscaling the enemy. That is your number 1 priority and it will happen, it's just a matter of how long it takes.

With new wriggles, you will be a beast once it becomes Feral Flare + you have triforce. This is your big power spike and from that point you will be almost unbeatable in a skirmish.

Prior to this power spike, you will be moderately weak. Ok ganks, Ok dueling, Ok clearing. Nothing special about him. He's ok. Just don't get frustrated and try gank all day and waste time.

When you have no easy ganks available, farm jungle. When your laner dies, take his cs and then farm jungle some more. When enemy laner pushes, gank them, then go back and farm jungle some more.

Key point, always make sure to farm the jungle. Even before it becomes wriggles, you gain stacks for killing monsters. This means more jungling = faster flare = earlier power spike. Try not to completely give up on ganking, but favour jungle farm over harassing enemy lanes.

How to clear Back to Top

Start E. Smite first buff instantly, start spinning E and whacking the buff. Hope your lane helps you out some and finish off the buff monster.

Lvl that W and head straight over to your other buff, don't do a camp inbetween, it leaves you open to counter-jungling. Quickly hit the buff with W then start your E. Save smite to last hit this time, it should come off cooldown around the same time as the monster gets low enough to smite.

Kill another camp, same strat, auto + W first, spin E, this gives time for W to cooldown for another use on the same camp. Lvl your Q up once the camp is cleared.

Now you can look at the map and see how lanes look. If all are sat farming in middle of lanes, don't worry about it. Go farm another camp. Your smite will be up very soon and it makes it easy to clear a camp fast.

If enemy lane is pushing super hard, go gank it (but only if you are that side of the map). Don't cross entire map for a gank. Go towards jungle camps which are near lanes you can gank. Remember that as jax you are the strongest member on the team. Hitting your power spike early is important.

How to gank. Back to Top

You should probably do a gank at lvl 3 after clearing red + blue + 1 or 2 camps. Pick whichever lane is pushed up a bit and walk a route you expect to be un-warded. Preferably a route which allows you to get behind the enemy. Walk into the lane and start spinning your E when coming into range. Jump onto someone and instantly pop your E to stun. If they are quick they can sometimes flash out and avoid the stun, otherwise, proceed to batter them. If they get pretty low and flash away, flash after them for another spank (unless they have barrier and are tower baiting).

Whether it is successful or not, go back and farm jungle. Your smite will be up and you can't afford to repeat gank and waste time which could be used farming. If you aren't lvl 6 by 7:30 (after killing the respawned buff camp), you are behind.

How to counter-jungle Back to Top

Once lvl 6 you can focus more on counter jungling and farming the enemy camps (just kill the big one and leave, quick and easy) remembering to use the wriggles and trinket wards for vision, but always try keep 1 ward in your inventory for a jump away with Q. If you are caught out by the enemy jungler and he has laners coming in support, you need to either:

A: Ward jump out over a wall with Q.
B: If your laner has followed their laner, get into a brush, start spinning E. When their laner gets close, jump that sucker and start smacking his head in. If you get really low just flash away or ward jump if you saved Q (their guy might face check the brush you used). If you die, it is no big deal as long as the other guy died aswell which should happen if your laner is competent. Just remember to reset your auto with W to make sure you get 3 hits fast and proc your ulti passive.

If you have good control of enemy jungle and are stronger than the enemy jungler (which you should be by lvl 6 with wriggles + boots), you can just clear his big monsters then gank inbetween running back to your own jungle where needed. Only go for ganks which look to be a likely kill otherwise it's wasted time.
