Summoner Spells Back to Top

Flash
  • Probably one of the best summoner spells to bring for nearly all of the champions.
Ignite
  • Works great for any laning champions other than supports.
  • Ignite reduces the amount of healing while decreasing the targets' health.
Exhaust
  • Allows you to do greater damage.
  • Slows your enemy, enabling you to catch up even faster.
  • [Exhaust > Cougar form W > Flash] will help you get away easily.
Teleport
  • Great for split pushing.

Since this is a tanky Nidalee guide, I recommend running 9/21.

  • You may move the 1 point on Safeguard to anywhere you want if you don't tower dive a lot.
  • You may move the 3 points on Juggernaut to Legendary Armor.

Take W at level one. This will help you find any enemy nearby that steps on them. Use them as needed. Place at least 3 of these before 1:54.
Recommended areas:
Tri-bush, side-bushes, red or blue buff or near.

Max out E first to help you sustain in lane for as long as possible as it heals you. This spell will also give you some attack speed. You do not want to use this skill when your mana is below 40% and you have over 75% health. You will want to use that 40% when you or your enemy wants to trade.

Max out Q next. Her Q in cougar form deals a great amount of damage.

Her W will be the last skill you'll max out want to max out.

Of course, point up R when you are able to.

W, E, R are used to proc her Trinity Force/Sheen.

THE START
You'll want one to start up with 1001_32.png boots and 2003_32.png three health potions. Another option is 1029_32.png cloth armor and five potions.

THE LEVEL 1 CORE
1055_32.pngTwo Doran's Blade works great on Nidalee. I've also tried Doran's Blade + 1056_32.png Doran's Ring, hell can I say, this works amazing. Doran's Ring will make you much fatter along with additional 15 AP, 3 mana regen per 5 seconds, AND 5 mana per unit killed. I find myself sustaining a lot better with dBlade + dRing. You may buy 2041_32.png Crystalline Flask if you want and hold onto it until you need some space. You will want to grab 3044_32.png Phage right after your double dorans. You may grab 1029_32.png/1033_32.png whenever if you are taking too much damage from your enemy. You may consider building a 3028_32.png Chalice, 3155_32.png Hexdrinker, 3139_32.png Mercurial Scimitar, and/or 3065_32.png Spirit Visage when you are being bullied too much by an AP.

THE LEVEL 2 CORE
The next thing you want to do is to rush your 3078_32.png Trinity Force. This item works great on Nidalee. Once I have this item and I managed to stay neutral or fed, I know I can 1v1 nearly anyone I run into. Now it's up to you to choose between more health or armor + magic resist. I usually grab 1033_32.png (if taking more damage from AP) /1031_32.png (if taking more damage from AD) then pick up a 1011_32.png. After the Giant's Belts, I finish up my 3026_32.png Guardian's Angel. You may build your Giant's Belt to 3083_32.png Warmog's Armor or 3143_32.png Randuin's Omen. *Note: If your team is completely stomping your enemies and/or you are able to take hits before buying Guardian's Angel/Giant's belt, just build up some damage instead.

SOME DAMAGE
If you did not build any magic resist items early on, you may build a 3072_32.png Bloodthirster and/or 3124_32.png Guinsoo's Rageblade. Stacking up Guinsoo's Rageblade is quite easy in Nidalee as you will be using your W skill in human form a lot when traveling. If you want to build 3071_32.png Black Cleaver, I recommend giving up Bloodthirster and build Guinsoo's Blade along with this item.

VS

Darius

Easy

It's quit simple to win against Darius. Poke him early game to force him to back. Avoid fighting him if he is ahead of you.

VS

Elise

Hard

I find it extremely hard to win against Elise as Nidalee.

She has much stronger early game than you if she builds AP.

VS

Fiora

Medium

Pre-6, the match up should be equal.

However, once Fiora reaches level 6, you'll want your Jungler to gank as much as possible.

VS

Gangplank

Hard

Gankplank is overall hard to lane against as Nidalee.

He has better poke and sustain than Nidalee.

VS

Irelia

Medium

It's a fair match.

VS

Jax

Easy

I don't find it hard laning against Jax. When he uses his counter strike or empower, try to avoid him as much as possible. Once it one of those skills wears off, go for him.

VS

Nasus

Medium

Of course, Nasus is easy to take down in the beginning. Don't let him farm his Q or else you'll be putting you and your team at risk.

VS

Rengar

Hard

Play passive against him. You cannot afford to let this guy be ahead of you even just by a little.

VS

Rumble

Easy

You can out lane this guy easily.

VS

Shen

Easy

Laning against Shen is easy. Keep poking him and try to set him behind as much as possible. You do not want to push the lane.

VS

Teemo

Medium

If he goes AD, easy lane.
If he's AP, glhf ggwp.

VS

Tryndamere

Easy

Simple. Keep poking him so he'll will be forced to use his Q to heal himself making him lose his fury. Never engage a real fight with him when he has his fury up. You will want to be near your turret when fighting him.

VS

Vladimir

Easy

His early game is very weak so just keep poking him to force him back. Try to take him down as much as possible before he gets his core items.

You'll never want Vlad to get ahead of you, but that will rarely happen.

VS

Zed

Medium

It can be hard to lane against Zed. If he has early advantage of you, there is no way you can kill Zed without ganks.

Introduction Back to Top

Nidalee is a really fun champion to play. This guide is basically how I prefer playing Nidalee. Unlike majority of the Nidalee's I've seen at top, I play her more defensive and somewhat hybrid rather than going more AD offensive. I have tried playing her with multiple builds, but this is what suits me the most. With this guide, you will be able to jump into fights much more often.

Pros & Cons Back to Top

Pros

  • Great mobility
  • Split pusher
  • Not too easy to gank, especially after level 6
  • Human form is ranged, great for poking and farming
  • She can heal herself
  • Able to check bushes with her W in human form
  • W in human form can be used as "wards"
  • Great for stalking and taking down the enemy's AD carry
Exception: Vayne and carries that are too fed
Cons
  • No crowd control
  • Only Q in cougar form scales off AD
  • Her traps can be dodged

21/9 vs 9/21 Masteries Back to Top

Boy, I went up against a Nidalee who ran the typical standard 9/21. Although she was ahead in farms by 10-35, I still out traded her after we took our backs and returned. Thought I'd share.

Early Game Back to Top

  • Use your W as much as possible before your minions get to lane. This will help you avoid ganks without having to buy any wards.
  • Camp in the bush. Your passive grants 15% movement speed while you are inside the bush.
  • Poke your enemy as much as possible.
  • Last hit as much as possible.
  • Do not screw up. Once you are behind as Nidalee, mid game would be much harder.

Mid Game Back to Top

  • This is when Nidalee dominates.
  • You will want to be fed or neutral to have a successful mid game.
  • Trinity Force will be enough for you to kill.
  • Roam, roam, roam.
When winning lane:
  • Take down your enemy's turret so you can roam.
    OR
Stay in lane, keep both of your turret alive as well as your enemy's. Kill them as much as possible and farm. Keep your enemy behind.
  • You may split push as you can get away easily. Be sure to bring wards.
When losing lane:
  • Let your turret die.
    OR
Get help getting your enemy's turret down.
  • Roam. Get assist/kills as much as possible to help you catch up.
  • If you can't handle hits, just farm and assist.

Late Game Back to Top

  • Nidalee MAY fall off depending on your build and enemy.
  • Split push.
  • Sneak in to target the AD carry.

When NOT to Play Nidalee Back to Top

Team is too squishy
You need someone fatter than Nidalee
Team lacks on hard CC
Nidalee has zero CC, Nidalee craves teams with hard CC
When enemy team has Vayne
Not a big deal, but Vayne can push you making her the hardest AD carry for you to take down

About Me & Credibility Back to Top

Hello, my name Erics0n. I mainly play top lane because I feel it is where I suit best. I created my account during season one, but I hardly played because I did not enjoy the game. However, during mid season two, my friends encouraged me to play and that's when I started to enjoy League of Legends. I'm a typically WLLG player (win lane, lose game). This Nidalee guide is the first one I've ever made. I can say I am proud of this.

Credibility please?
  • I am just a casual player. I can honestly say I have nothing to brag about. I play normal games more than ranks. It is up to your choice whether to follow this guide or not. This is just what works for me when I play Nidalee at top lane.

Additional Message Back to Top

I will update this guide as much as possible. I am still trying to work with the season three changes. I am still experimenting with the new items.
