Summoner Spells Back to Top

Flash:

Flash is a flexible and multipurpose-tool for Lee Sin. You can use flash to dodge spells, secure kills, engage, disengage and most importantly: make advanced plays with Lee Sin's kit such as kickflash.

Smite:

As a jungler you must use smite since it's extremely useful when clearing jungle creeps. In order to secure objectives such as Baron Nashor, Dragon, and Rift Herald you must have at least one smite on the team.

Going Q lvl 1 and W lvl 2 is very important for clearing jungle monsters in the beginning.

You can also max out E second if you want to deal more damage but overall W is better.

Situational Items

Always look what kind of champions you are playing against before buying an item.

I have listed a lot of items. They're all good but items depend on your enemies and your playstyle.

What I tend to buy:

Jungler Item (Warrior) -> 300 gold boots -> Tiamat -> Finish boots -> Hexdrinker -> Tank items depending on enemy team.

Another popular Lee build:

is where you buy sightstone and tanky early in order to support your team. This is usually the build you see in LCS games.

I prefer using the damage build in soloq because I'd rather carry the game myself than relying on teammates.

Patch 7.1:

As of patch 7.1 Lee Sin's ult got a 50 dmg nerf at rank 1, 100 dmg nerf at rank 2, and a 150 dmg nerf at rank 3. This is especially a nerf to the tank-style lee and gives incentive to build more AD on Lee Sin.

VS

Aatrox

Easy

VS

Amumu

Easy

Make sure to counterjungle the Amumu and get far ahead early!

VS

Elise

Easy

Try to counterjungle her. Also remember to hit Q on her and not the spiderlings!

VS

Fiddlesticks

Easy

Counterjungle as much as you can and ward brushes for your teammates.

VS

Gragas

Easy

Dodge his E with Wardjump and it's an easy matchup early. Lategame he will outscale you so make sure to get a huge lead in the early game.

VS

Hecarim

Easy

You can try to juke his ult with wardjump.

VS

Jarvan IV

Easy

Juke his combo with ward jump.

VS

Jax

Medium

This matchup is pretty hard pre-6. However, at level 6 you will kick Jax when he uses E and Q after the stun. Post-6 this matchup is really easy unless the Jax is very fed.

VS

Kha'Zix

Easy

Just maximize your damage with blindmonkqone.png > Wardblindmonkwone.png>blindmonkeone.png>blindmonkrkick.png>Q  and Kha'Zix should die easily.

VS

Lee Sin

Hard

The best Lee Sin player will win.

VS

Malphite

Easy

He's a very slow jungler in the early game so try to counterjungle him and countergank pre-6. After 6 it becomes trickier - try to juke his ultimate with wardjump.

VS

Maokai

Easy

VS

Nidalee

Easy

Maximize your damage on Nidalee and you can kill her in less than 1 second. Q->Wardjump->E->Ult->Q

VS

Nocturne

Medium

Since you are maxing Q make sure he does not shield your Q or Ult. Against Nocturne you want to be unpredictable.

If Nocturne tries to 1v1 you without shield just use your max damage combo.
Q>Wardjump>E>R>Q

VS

Nunu

Medium

Don't go into Nunu's jungler unless you (for some reason) feel like you can kill him.

Nunu's ganks are kinda weak (especially in the early game) so try to counter his ganks.

VS

Rammus

Easy

Since Rammus outscales Lee Sin heavily it is important to get an early lead. You need to counterjungle a lot early game.

Jungle Clearing Back to Top

While jungling it is very important to utilize Lee Sin's passive. leesinpassive.png Therefore you will auto attack two times after each ability.

Here is a picture of the jungle route.
Red side: I usually smite the red buff, skip raptors because Lee Sin has weak AoE clear early on, go to wolves, get blue buff and if I'm healthy then go for grump or gank middle or bot. If you want to gank top early you can take red buff, go straight to krugs. You will be lvl 3 after krugs and you can do an early gank top.

Blue side: Here I usually take red, take wolves, take blue and look for gank top/mid. You can also take red buff -> krugs -> gank bot early.

Video:

In this video I show  the 2 standard starting jungle routes as of season 7. If there is a demand I will create a guide on some more advanced starting jungle routes. Enjoy.

Counterjungling Back to Top

Counterjungling is when you either try to steal jungle camps from the enemy jungler or kill the enemy jungler. As you might guess, counterjungling is a really efficient way to further the gold gap from you and the enemy jungler and ultimately increase your chances at winning.

Coming into season 7 counterjungling is even more important because of the increased spawn timer on jungle camps.

Here is a video showing how to counterjgl.

Ganking Back to Top

Ganking

Ganking plays a huge role when playing Lee Sin. Lee Sin is one of the strongest early game junglers in the game, but falls off heavily late game if you don't get to snowball the game early. Ganking is really effective when trying to snowball a game.

Ganking is where you help teammates winning their lane. Instead of farming in the jungle, you now run up to a teammate's lane and help killing the enemy laner.

If you believe in your abilities to carry the game I recommend taking the kill(s). If you are a more team-oriented player, you should give the teammate the kill(s) when ganking.

Ganking when warded

I will show you some tricks that will make it easy for you to gank enemies who ward. You will ward-jump to surprise the enemies and they may not react fast enough to escape.
Here is one example:

Usually top laners on red side will have a ward in this brush. However, if you ward jump into the brush from Lee Sin's position (look picture below) the enemy top laner will most likely not react fast enough to escape. This trick can also be used to gank top laners on the blue side if they're overextended.

lee guide lolking.png

Here's a very short video to showcase the most used and important ward-jumping spots to surprise the enemy. Remember: There are countless opportunities with Lee Sin so try to improvise with your own ward-jumping spots.

Counterganking:

A countergank is when you see an enemy walking up to its teammate's lane in order to help him/her and you intervene and help your own teammate. This is why it is very important (especially for a jungler) to look on the Minimap ALL the time.

Counterganking is really effective when done correctly because of all the gold it grants. Instead of getting 1-2 kills, now there are more kills to grab.

When not to gank:

1. When the enemies are way stronger than you (unless they're being really greedy and overextend)

2. It is very risky

3. The enemies have vision and know your position on the map

4. The enemies will countergank and kill you.

*New* Using plants when ganking

As of patch 6.22, plants now exist in Summoners Rift and they are extremely useful for junglers. It is a good idea to look after them whenever you gank.

Now with the plants, you can use the vision plant to check if the enemy has any wards. This is very useful.

Additionally, the bomb plant can also help you to jump over the wall top (cf. picture shown in the top of the section) and quickly escape if the gank fails.

Stealing Baron/Dragon Back to Top

Stealing Dragons or Barons in games really can determine if you win or lose (especially in high elo). Lee Sin is a jungler who excels at stealing objectives until the 30-40 minute mark (it depends on your item build, the more damage the easier it is to steal)

The basics of stealing an objective with Lee Sin:

You use Q on the objective, when the Q lands you will smite the monster, afterwards you ward jump out of the pit. If Q is not available you may ward jump inside the pit, smite, and either flash out of the pit/ kill the enemies/ die.

"When do I use smite?" you may ask. There are two options:

1. You try to calculate damage and use smite when you can see the baron or dragon is in smite range
or
2. You will Q on baron and randomly smite when the baron/dragon is nearly smite range.

Personally I prefer the second method since I find it really hard to react fast enough to smite in time. The fights in the baron/dragon pit tend to be messy.

As of patch 6.22 remember to use the plants that grant vision of the Baron/ Dragon pit before stealing.

To conclude this topic, here is a video of me stealing Baron by randomly smiting when Baron is getting near smite range:

When you have become a Lee Sin God you can do stuff like this:
