Summoner Spells Back to Top

The most obvious combo for any ap mid champ 4.png  14.png. These are your bread and butter summoner spells for most champions. I will attempt to explain every summoner spell and how it helps her.

4.png --- One of the best summoner spells because it can be used both offensively and defensively. If the enemy jungler comes to gank, simply flash away or flash over walls if you're in a teamfight in/near jungle. Offensively u can use it to try to land a combo and/or get a kill.

2.png --- this summoner spell used to be good on supports. However, now it is replaced with more useful/tactic spells. It can be great with lux so that you can see where to aim your lazer. This spell is decent/viable on her, but other spells such as ignite and teleport are better.

20.png --- It's removed. Don't even know why its here. You used to get this if you wanted to troll/ super push.

14.png --- This is one of the best offensive summoner spells available. IF you want your combo to do its max potential. You need this spell because it pretty much guarantees the kill if you land your wombo combo.

13.png --- Lower levels before 20 it's decent. However, you should have enough mana after getting3174_32.png. Helpful spell to people that get really aggressive and like to spam a lot.

1.png --- This spell could be useful if the enemy team has very very heavy cc. You should be able to stand in the back since your range is so long though. It can be helpful in certain scenarios like amumu galio ult combo.

21.png --- Truthfully, you don't need this. Your shield's cooldown is 10 seconds when the skill is maxed. This isn't required and other summoner spells are way better. Avoid this spell.

17.png --- Only available in dominion and it's not a summoner spell that you really need. Don't play much dominion so I can't say how viable it is.

16.png --- Removed. Not valid for season 3.

12.png ---  I find this spell to be really great on luxs if they know how to utilize it completely. This spell is extremely effective when you know the enemy team comp will be very aggressive and push their lanes. Tell your lane to ward and then teleport and get that kill.

11.png --- Doesn't apply to mid lane champions unless you are really greedy and feel like you cant last hit. You will get approximately 30 cs in 30 mins. Lol.

10.png --- This summoner spell has become the main way for people to try to get others to dodge queue. I find it very amusing because the cooldown is way too long and it isn't viable. Might be good for a late game, but should not be taken.

7.png --- Fairly decent summoner spell which is usually used against champions that have high nuking abilities such as veigar, riven, and others who can harass and do tons of damage. Should not be taken unless you feel unsure about your ability to position. On support lux it is a decent spell.

6.png --- Can actually come in handy if you want to gank/ run away quickly. However, most of your kit allows you to escape without needing it. It is a decent summoner spell and ranks #4 i.m.o.

3.png --- It is like heal in the fact that you can choose it when you are versing someone who can burst way too quickly. It is fairly decent but is most effective for supports. You can also get this if your support fails to get it and/or they have more than one nuke.

RUNE TIME WITH LUX:

Reds/Marks --- The reason you should focus on getting magic pen reds is because magic pen. is hard to get. Considering you want to get3275_32.png. Magic pen reds help you do more damage to champions who have low magic resist and makes them feel the true pain of Lux. There isn't really many other marks/reds that are good on her. Magic pen. reds are most common for ap mid champs, and lux is not an exception.

Blues/Glyphs --- The main reason that i usually mix blues is because you do not need too much flat ap since your quints will take care of that problem. I go flat ap blues when the enemy has low initial hp/ low mr. and you want to really harass them. However, for the most part you want to have a mix of both flat and ap/lvl blues. Lux doesn't need much ap to do crazy damage.

Yellows/Seals --- The best seals for any ap champ are flat mana regen ones. You dont need mana regen/lvl because late game you will have blue and athene's unholy grail will be there to regen your mana. Sometimes it is smart to get armor seals if the enemy plays an ad champ mid such as: panth, talon, or riven( Yes ive seen riven play mid and destroy).

Quints --- Lux needs some ability power in the beginning to make her spells hurt a bit and to farm. The best way to accomplish this is by getting flat ap quints. Move speed quints are the main competition for first place against these quints. Move speed is important if you know how to gank and when to gank the enemy. However, most Lux players should stick with their flat ap quints for the damage all game.

I use the very common 21-0-9 mastery tree with 21 points in offense and 9 points in utility. There are many different things that you can try and that are very viable. However, i follow the crowd when it comes to masteries. I find the 21-0-9 tree to be the best one for me, because i have become accustomed to them and like doing tons of damage.

E abilityLucent Singularity.jpg - I usually start with my e to scout out enemies and see if i can find their jungle if i know the enemy is not near me. It is your main source of damage and should be used to harass/farm. Lux is a very simple champ to farm with due to her e and her passive.

W abilityPrismatic Barrier.jpg - I max my w second because it is essential during teamfights and very helpful in saving you. I love when the enemy ignites and then you shield as if nothing ever happened. Your w can be extremely OP if you are able to hit more than one person with it. Aim those angles and you will do great.

Q abilityLight Binding.jpg- I max this ability last because the snare doesn't get any longer. The only thing that increases is its damage and the mana cost. The cooldown decreases but not by that much.

R abilityFinal Spark.jpg - Max this at 6,11, and 16 since it is the only time you can. This ability is so amazing late game with 40% cd and at level 3. You have it every 30 seconds and it does crazy damage. You can easily steal baron/dragon if you have enough ability power. Like almost every other ultimate, this ability is your main source of damage.

Starting Items

Core Items

Your main build that you should strive for if you can

Situational Items

These are items that work sometimes.

I know i will get a lot of hate for this section but i think this is one of the best possible setups.

Beginning items : A lot of people are still mindset on S2. EVERYONE STOP THINKING ITS STILL SEASON 2! The reason why i start with 2041_32.png  is because it offers you both mana and health regen. This helps you sustain in lane for a longer time than your enemy and is very cheap. I buy 2 2044_32.png so that i can ward the enemy wraiths early to know where/ how far he is in his jungle. I buy one 2003_32.png and one 2004_32.png in case i dont want to use my flask because either my hp or mana is full. I get two 1056_32.png after i back so that i have mana regen when i get back to lane and tier 1 boots arent really very important anymore. You dont need boots until your 2nd back with lux .

Core items : 3174_32.png - This item is amazing and should be rushed after your two dorans rings. It gives u mana regen, cooldown, ap, and magic resist. The unique passive is amazing when you are low on mana. It provides you with defense, attack, utility; it is a must as a first item.
3089_32.png - self explanatory. You need one on pretty much any ap champ for more damage. The passive is great on making you one shot the enemy with your combo.
3157_32.png - I was debating whether or not to put this item on situational. However, i think that it deserves to be a core item because it gives u armor, ap, and an amazing active which can save your life if you use it properly.
Make sure to remember to use the active or else this item isn't worth it.
3135_32.png - This item is great mid to late game because even if your enemy does build mr, it will pierce a good chunk of it and you will be a big threat. This item shouldn't be rushed though and might not be needed if the enemy team isn't building mr.
3275_32.png - these boots are perfect for you to get your cdr to 40% with unholy grail. You want to have as much cd as possible on lux.  The reason you want homeguard upgraded boots is so that you dont need to waste time in base healing and then get back to where you were quicker.
3151_32.png - This item is really fun because of its unique passive which can kill especially with lux. If you hit your combo, the enemy will be more cautious about engaging your team. This item is a must because it gives magic pen. , ap, and health. This item synergizes with your e since slows double the passive dmg.

Situational Items: 3116_32.png - Great item but isnt really needed because lux already has a slow. However, it combined with liandrys torment is very strong but synchronizes better with other champs like vlad.

3027_32.png - Great for the hp and mana but is not really required if you know how to position. Can be a good item if your team isnt very tanky and you know the enemy will deal some damage to you.

3041_32.png - You should never try to use snowball items, but they can be good if you know that the enemy team will keep feeding you. I avoid these sort of items, but some people like to see how close they can get to getting the 20 stacks.
3100_32.png - This item is great with lux and her passive but i usually find myself unable to even autoattack. When i hit a combo, the enemy is either dead or they are running for their lives. I personally prefer not to use this item since it got nerfed in S3.

Combo Time Back to Top

There are so many ways to combo; i will talk about the simple to the more complex ones:

Easy combo during lower levels:

predict where your enemy is going to go and place your Lucent Singularity.jpg behind them so that when they move back they get hit. As soon as you see your autoattack flying through the air, explode your e so that they take your passive damage and the damage from e.

Double combo/ Intermediate combo:

What you want to do is to throw out your Lucent Singularity.jpg. While you do that you throw out your

Light Binding.jpg and autoattack in the quickest manner. Your q will hit and then your passive will reset on them. Auto attack them once more and they will take damage from your passive. This combo chunks off a pretty decent amount of hp and can end up killing the enemy at earlier levels.

Triple combo/ Advanced combo:

This combo takes some time to master. It is the same thing as your intermediate combo except instead of autoattacking after the snare, you ulti instead. When you ulti your passive still activates  and the enemy takes the damage. For this combo you have to have quick fingers or else the enemy might flash away or escape somehow.

Just remember:

Final Spark.jpgYOUR ULTI IS OP EVEN BY ITSELF. THE WAY YOU DIFFERENTIATE A GOOD LUX FROM A GREAT LUX IS COMBOING.
