Preseason Top Tier - Jungle

Exploring who the top tier champions in the jungle are for preseason patch 7.23!

To be a "Top Tier" Jungler in the current iteration of the preseason, champions need to be good duelers, be able to close gaps consistently, and have some form of inherent tankiness. Controlling the map is harder than ever now, so choosing the right jungler is paramount in gaining Elo/MMR.

Strengths
  • Jungle clear speed got a huge boost with the new season. Precision with Hunter's Machete gives a total of 33% bonus attack speed.
  • Xin can fight on his team's terms and win, or fight on the enemies terms and....still probably win.
  • Ult gives safety versus the long range champs.
Tips and Tricks
  • Use W right after the knockup from Q, if the enemy doesn't flash right after, it's a guaranteed hit of the spear.
  • When flanking an enemy champ during a gank, try to engage by walking up to them, rather than using E.

Strengths
  • Keep laners safe early on through vision but power farm the jungle with dragon control to easily takes over games with very little ganking.
  • Not having mana or any need for blue buff means means Shyvana can give mid laner blue without any issues.
Tips and Tricks
  • Shyvana deals 10% increased damage to dragons. With red buff she can easily solo them starting at levels 3-4.
  • Ganking opportunities depend more on if allies have CC or not. If they have a lot of hard CC like Ornn, ganks should be easy.
  • Late game teamfights, think about if she can easily 1v1 the enemy carry. Otherwise, be the frontline.

Strengths
  • Jarvan is easier than most junglers to play and do well.
  • Flexible champion, can cater to team's needs. If the team is lacking a tank, Cinderhulk works great. Otherwise go for more damage with Warrior.
  • Jarvan works great with poke meta, his ultimate trapping multiple people will force flashes or they'll get destroyed by carries.
Tips and Tricks
  • Be aware of the team's positioning as well as the enemy's when looking to ult. A 5-man ult that includes your teams carries is not helpful.
  • E gives assists from the attack speed aura, don't forget to use this to get free gold when a bit too far away to help "secure" the kill.
  • E-Q and then flash to knock an enemy up. Flash directly on top of them or this won't work. Definetly try this out in the practice tool before using it in game.
