Summoner Spells Back to Top

14.png 4.png

IGNITE & FLASH

The standard combination to take for maximum damage output with your flashfrost.png > frostbite.png or glacialstorm.png > frostbite.png combo. Gives you a lot of early game pressure! Can take many players by surprise in early trades during the laning phase after an egg bait with your passive.

179.png

1.png 4.png

CLEANSE & FLASH

For facing certain champions like Twisted Fate, Rammus, or Syndra you might choose to run Cleanse and Flash because if they land their crowd control abilities—like pickacard.pngpuncturingtaunt.png, or syndrae.png—it's pretty much a guaranteed death against a competent team.

179.png

12.png 4.png

TELEPORT & FLASH

If you want to play the safe and passive lane, and don't really want to go for the flashy plays then Teleport and Flash is also a viable combination especially if you're able to coordinate well with your teammates [for ganks and counter-ganks]. Can also work for an aggressive player for the same reasons.

GAIN ELO (STANDARD)

My new standard to MAKE GAINS. Try it out!

MIDGAME ANIVIA

Go-to page for dominating the midgame. You might think you have to run really aggressive runes to do well with an AP mid, but with Anivia that's not the case!

179.png

Arcane%20Comet.png?width=64 Manaflow%20Band.png?width=64 Celerity.png?width=64 Scorch.png?width=64 Biscuit%20Delivery.png?width=64 Time%20Warp%20Tonic.png?width=64

DAMAGE/AGGRESSIVE

Allows you to really push the envelope in early and midgame fights combined with 2033.png. Synergizes with Anivia's kit and helps a little with her slow movement speed.

179.png

Summoner%20Specialist.png?width=64 Magical%20Footwear.png?width=64 Biscuit%20Delivery.png?width=64 Time%20Warp%20Tonic.png?width=64 Bone%20Plating.png?width=64 Conditioning.png?width=64

TANK/SUSTAIN

When you feel like you have to play a more conservative game or feel disadvantaged in the draft. Against melee mids like Fizz, Kassadin, Talon, and Zed, take this page and play really aggressive early. Afterwards just farm it out since once they reach level 6 it gets really hard to maintain even ground.

REBIRTH

Anivia's unique selling point. I like to really abuse this in the first hard trade with the other mid in the early game starting at level 3. When your opponent forces you into your egg form they can get overconfident and try to finish you off, but if you're able to revive there's a high chance you will turn it around and kill them in turn with your combined damage output with your flashfrost.png > frostbite.png combo as it should be off cooldown after the initial trade.

179.png

flashfrost.png

FLASH FROST

Remember! You can detonate this on your own without waiting for it to reach the end of its range. This can potentially do double damage if you can remember to manually proc it again as it passes through your target(s) along with the stun.

179.png

crystallize.png

CRYSTALLIZE

An underrated ability that helps with landing and securing you or your teammates' combos if placed right. Can also help with escapes, or preventing your opponents'. For example, if you can time it right you can interrupt champions mid-jump (tristanaw.pngkhazixe.png, Blast Cone jungle plant) and bring them right back down. I always level this at level 4 as its capabilities are often taken for granted.

179.png

frostbite.png

FROSTBITE

Anivia's source of main burst. Without flashfrost.png or glacialstorm.png it's kind of lackluster as its double damage only procs after a stun (NOT the slow) from the former, or a fully formed storm from the latter.

179.png

glacialstorm.png

GLACIAL STORM

The main point of Anivia's kit and brings all her abilities together. Can provide a load of sustained damage if you prolong an opponent's time in it with a perfectly positioned crystallize.png and can help with landing a flashfrost.png stun. You can tell when it reaches its full form as it gives off a little flash when it does.

EXAMPLE BUILD ORDER

This is my progression in a standard game. Sometimes you'll need to buy 3010.png later and build 3191.png, and 3047.png first if you're having trouble against an AD mid matchup. Same with building 3111.png and into 3001.png instead if the situation calls for it. Gauge your opponent's power and adjust appropriately. Of course, if you're using the tank/sustain rune page then you won't need to buy 1001.png since you have Magical%20Footwear.png?width=32.

179.png

1056.png 2003.png x2 3340.png

STANDARD STARTING ITEMS

The cookie cutter start for almost all AP mids. If you're confident in your trading and expect a regular farming matchup in lane then go with this. Or just default to it anyways if you're not comfortable with playing aggressive.

2033.png 3340.png

AGGRESSIVE STARTING ITEMS

My personal favourite start. Because of the added sustain duration of Time%20Warp%20Tonic.png?width=32, going this route really helps with being aggressive in the early game as you'll be under the effect of Touch of Corruption much longer in a trade. Works really well with 12.png.

179.png

3070.png

TEAR OF THE GODDESS

Your first item to buy during your first back to the fountain. Ideally along with 1001.png if you farmed well or weren't forced back early from a gank. Don't forget to always be stacking it! Recalling to base or waiting for regen while in the fountain? Toggle glacialstorm.png on for maximum efficiency.

3010.png

CATALYST OF AEONS

Really great build-up item for its unique passive that synergizes well with Anivia's abilities—particularly glacialstorm.png. If you haven't bought 1001.png earlier with 3070.png this is the time.

1082.png

THE DARK SEAL

Paired with 2033.png and the new rune Time%20Warp%20Tonic.png?width=32, this item is a must which I buy all the time as it gives you even more staying power in a fight.

179.png

2055.png 2057.png

CONTROL WARD & PEERING FARSIGHT WARD

Try and buy a 2055.png whenever you return to the fountain to help your support deward the map. Upgrade your 3340.png to 2057.png at your discretion based on your team's game plan and how the flow of the game is going.

179.png

3003.png 3020.png 3027.png 3157.png 3151.png 3135.png

FINAL BUILD

The ideal 6-slot build in a perfect game.
  • 3003.png and 3027.png help Anivia to scale considerably well into late game and provides a bigger mana pool to work with for drawn out fights, and gives you the ability to keep glacialstorm.png active for a longer time.
  • For the inevitable magic resistance stacking by the enemy team, 3020.png and 3135.png give you the much needed reduction to deal with them.
  • Anivia's already huge burn damage potential is further strengthened with 3151.png's unique passives Madness and Torment.
  • The centerpiece of this build comes down to 3157.png. It's the item that will allow you make big plays in conjunction with aniviapassive.png. A timely and well placed glacialstorm.png can get enemies to switch focus on you where activating Statis will buy time for your team to do their thing and get you more ticks with your ultimate.
179.png

3001.png 3102.png

ABYSSAL MASK & BANSHEE'S VEIL

When facing a lineup where a majority of their lanes do magic damage I like to build my 3010.png into an 3001.png instead to help mitigate it. You can also keep the buildup to 3027.png and buy a 3102.png instead if you see it viable based on the enemies' abilities, but I rarely take this route as it takes away a slot from the already good final build.

3047.png 3111.png

NINJA TABI & MERCURY'S TREADS

Self-explanatory if you're running the tank/sustain rune page, or if you feel your opponents are doing too much damage for you to stay alive and dish out yours. Choose accordingly.

    Hard

VS

Ahri

Hard
Early on try to go for the kill. Even though it's more of a skill matchup and you feel like you're really behind I would still recommend to get 3027.png, but build 3111.png and just push because this chick has THREE FLASHES. If your jungler ain't helping you, push your lane, ward out and you should be good to go! Once she's level 6 with a small lead or cheese it's hard to come back from.

VS

Azir

Hard

Definitely would go for my tank/sustain runes. In this matchup it's really hard because Anivia does lack mobility which makes Azir able to bully her in lane like crazy. The best thing to do in this situation in the early game is dependent on the Azir. Most Azirs will push the lane, and that means in this particular situation either harass with your Q or Q the whole wave while proccing it on the ranged minions. It will be hard to harass until level 6. That's when you shove in Azir no problem. He could harass you, but you'll be out pushing and sustaining way better than him!

VS

Kassadin

Hard

Tank/sustain runes for sure in this matchup. If you don't get a kill on him early and he gets level 6 first he'll snowball. 3027.png is not the right choice because he'll punish you hard and there's NOTHING you can do. Continuing with if you don't kill him before level 6 and he has any kill potential at all, build 3001.png and shove the lane then it should be smooth sailing from there!

ANIVIA 'THE ARTICUNO' MAIN

Hello, I'm Auke/Minusex. I hit Master and Challenger in Season 4, peaking at about 400 points. I've been playing since Season 1, but half-way through I started to play a lot more Anivia on stream and now made her my main. I try to answer all questions asked in chat to help as much as I can. The more questions, the more it helps the community of BBC. So let's make it GROW! Link to my Twitch stream and YouTube below!
